AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing systems for secure transactions between entities lack scalability and efficiency, particularly for low-value or high-volume transactions involving devices with low computational power, such as those in the Internet of Things, due to the overhead of building trust and verifying identities, which consumes significant computational resources.

Method used

A method and system utilizing a UICC (e.g., SIM) to establish a secure channel with a server for transactions, enabling devices to interact with distributed ledgers securely and efficiently by using public-private key pairs stored on the UICC, allowing for secure wallet management and transaction processing.

Benefits of technology

This approach facilitates more efficient and secure transaction processing for high-volume, low-value transactions by reducing computational overhead and enabling devices to interact directly with distributed ledgers, enhancing scalability and convenience.

Abstract

A method and system for performing a secure transaction, the method comprising the steps of initiating a secure communications channel between a device having a UICC and a server, where the secure communications channel is established using the UICC; receiving at the server an instruction to perform the transaction from the device via the secure communications channel; in response to the received instruction, sending a request to perform the transaction from the server to a distributed ledger; and in response to the request, signing the transaction on the distributed ledger using a public and private key pair stored in the distributed ledger.
