Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a dual-bearing reel. [Background technology]

[0002] The dual-bearing reel described in Patent Document 1 has a reel body, a spool, a drag mechanism, a drag adjustment lever, and a positioning mechanism. The spool rotates relative to the reel body. The drag mechanism brakes the rotation of the spool. The drag adjustment lever swings relative to the reel body between a first lever position in a drag-free state and a second lever position in a maximum drag state.

[0003] The intermediate positioning mechanism positions the drag adjustment lever between a first lever position and a second lever position. The intermediate positioning mechanism has a positioning member that is attached to the reel body so as to be movable forward and backward, and a biasing member that constantly biases the positioning member toward the outside of the reel body. [0004] [Patent Document 1] Patent No. 5961378 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0005] In conventional dual-bearing reels, the positioning member always protrudes from the reel body. In this case, the drag adjustment lever is positioned between the first lever position and the second lever position by the positioning member. When the angler presses the positioning member, the positioning member is accommodated in the accommodation recess of the reel body. In this state, the drag adjustment lever can swing between the first lever position and the second lever position.

[0006] In this type of dual-bearing reel, the positioning member always protrudes from the reel body unless the angler applies pressure to the positioning member. In other words, in a non-pressed state where the angler is not applying pressure to the positioning member, the drag adjustment lever is positioned by the positioning member.

[0007] On the other hand, there are anglers who do not want the drag adjustment lever to be positioned by the positioning member when the positioning member is not pressed. These anglers expect the drag adjustment lever to be able to freely swing between the first lever position and the second lever position when the positioning member is not pressed. In order to satisfy such demands for the operation mode of the drag adjustment lever, various attempts have been made in recent years to improve the operability of the drag adjustment lever.

[0008] SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT EMBODIMENT An object of the present invention is to provide a dual-bearing reel that can improve the operability of a drag adjustment lever. [Means for solving the problem]

[0009] According to a first aspect of the present invention, a dual-bearing reel includes a reel body, a spool, a drag mechanism, a drag adjustment lever, and a restriction mechanism. The spool rotates relative to the reel body. The drag mechanism brakes the rotation of the spool. The drag adjustment lever swings relative to the reel body between a first lever position where the drag mechanism is set so that the spool rotates freely, and a second lever position where the drag mechanism is set so that a maximum braking force acts on the spool.

[0010] The restriction mechanism restricts movement of the drag adjustment lever from a third lever position between the first lever position and the second lever position to the second lever position. The restriction mechanism has a switching unit and a holding unit. The switching unit is switched between a restricting position that restricts movement of the drag adjustment lever from the third lever position to the second lever position and an allowing position that allows movement of the drag adjustment lever from the third lever position to the second lever position. The holding unit holds the switching unit in at least one of the restricting position and the allowing position.

[0011] In the dual-bearing reel of the first aspect, the restriction mechanism restricts movement of the drag adjustment lever from the third lever position to the second lever position. The switching portion is switchable between a restrictive position and an allowable position. The holding portion holds the switching portion in at least one of the restrictive position and the allowable position. In this configuration, the switching portion is held in at least one of the restrictive position and the allowable position by the holding portion, thereby improving operability of the drag adjustment lever.

[0012] With regard to the second aspect of the present invention, the dual-bearing reel according to the first aspect may be configured as follows: The reel body has a housing portion. At least a part of the restriction mechanism is housed in the housing portion.

[0013] In the dual-bearing reel of the second aspect, at least a portion of the regulation mechanism is housed in the housing, thereby improving the operability of the drag adjustment lever without significantly changing the configuration of the reel body of the prior art.

[0014] With regard to a third aspect of the present invention, the dual-bearing reel according to the first or second aspect may be configured as follows. The restricting mechanism has a biasing member. The biasing member is disposed between the reel body and the switching portion. The biasing member biases the switching portion from the restricted position toward the permissible position, or from the permissible position toward the restricted position.

[0015] In the dual-bearing reel of the third aspect, the biasing member is positioned between the reel body and the switching portion, so that the position of the switching portion can be easily changed from either the restrictive position or the permissive position to the other of the restrictive position or the permissive position.

[0016] With respect to a fourth aspect of the present invention, the dual-bearing reel according to any one of the first to third aspects may be configured as follows: The retaining portion is a screw member provided on the reel body and screwed into the switching portion. The screw member retains the switching portion in at least one of the restricted position and the permitted position.

[0017] In the dual-bearing reel according to the fourth aspect, the switching part can be reliably held in at least one of the restricted position and the permissible position by the holding part, for example a screw member.

[0018] With respect to the fifth aspect of the present invention, the dual-bearing reel according to any one of the first to third aspects may be configured as follows: When the switching portion is in the restricted position, a pressing force on the switching portion causes the switching portion to change its position to the permissible position. The holding portion holds the switching portion in the permissible position. When the holding portion holds the switching portion in the permissible position, a pressing force on the switching portion causes the holding portion to release its hold on the switching portion.

[0019] In the dual-bearing reel of the fifth aspect, an angler can easily change the position of the switching part from either the regulated position or the permissible position to the other of the regulated position or the permissible position by repeatedly applying a pressing force to the switching part.

[0020] With respect to a sixth aspect of the present invention, the dual-bearing reel according to any one of the first to third aspects may be configured as follows: The reel body has a hole and a slit formed in an inner circumferential surface of the hole.

[0021] The restriction mechanism has a biasing member disposed between the reel body and the switching portion and biases the switching portion from the permissible position toward the restricted position. The holding portion has an engagement portion, a shaft portion, a first contact portion, and a second contact portion. The engagement portion engages with the switching portion. The shaft portion is provided in the engagement portion and is inserted into a hole portion.

[0022] The first abutment portion is provided on the shaft portion. The first abutment portion abuts against the reel body in the regulated position and moves away from the reel body in the permissible position. The second abutment portion is provided on the shaft portion between the engagement portion and the first abutment portion. The second abutment portion is disposed in the slit in the regulated position and abuts against the reel body in the permissible position.

[0023] In the dual-bearing reel of the sixth aspect, the first abutment portion and the second abutment portion are each abutted against the reel body, so that the switching portion can be held in either the restricted position or the permissive position. [Brief description of the drawings]

[0025] (First embodiment) As shown in Figures 1 and 2, dual-bearing reel 1 embodying the present invention comprises a reel body 3, a spool shaft 5 (see Figure 3), a spool 7, and a handle 9. As shown in Figure 3, dual-bearing reel 1 comprises a rotation transmission mechanism 11 that transmits rotation of handle 9 to spool 7, a drag mechanism 13 that brakes the rotation of spool 7, a drag adjustment lever 15, and a restriction mechanism 17.

[0026] In the following, the direction in which the axis X1 defined by the spool shaft 5 extends is defined as the "spool axial direction." The direction perpendicular to the axis X1 of the spool shaft 5 and away from the axis X1 of the spool shaft 5 is defined as the "spool radial direction." The direction around the axis X1 of the spool shaft 5 is defined as the "spool circumferential direction."

[0027] As shown in Figures 1, 2, and 3, the reel body 3 has a frame 21 and a cover member 23. The frame 21 has a first side plate 21a, a second side plate 21b, and a connecting portion 21c. The first side plate 21a is disposed on the opposite side to the handle 9 in the spool axial direction. The second side plate 21b is disposed at a distance from the first side plate 21a in the spool axial direction. The second side plate 21b is disposed between the first side plate 21a and the handle 9. The connecting portion 21c connects the first side plate 21a and the second side plate 21b.

[0028] As shown in Figures 1, 2, and 3, the cover member 23 is disposed between the second side plate 21b and the handle 9 in the spool axial direction. The cover member 23 covers the spool axially outer portion of the second side plate 21b. The cover member 23 has a cover body 23a and a bulging portion 23b. The cover body 23a is formed in an annular shape so as to contact the spool axially outer portion of the second side plate 21b. The cover body 23a is attached to the spool axially outer portion of the second side plate 21b.

[0029] The bulging portion 23b bulges from the cover body 23a in the spool axial direction and the spool radial direction. The bulging portion 23b has a cylindrical handle support portion 23b1 and a cylindrical lever support portion 23b2. The handle support portion 23b1 protrudes from the outer surface of the bulging portion 23b in the spool axial direction. The handle support portion 23b1 rotatably supports the handle 9. The lever support portion 23b2 protrudes from the outer surface of the bulging portion 23b in the spool axial direction. The lever support portion 23b2 is provided to allow the drag adjustment lever 15 to swing. A rotation transmission mechanism 11 is disposed inside the bulging portion 23b.

[0030] As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the reel body 3 has a storage portion 25. As shown in Figure 3, the storage portion 25 is provided radially outward of the spool shaft 5. As shown in Figure 4, the storage portion 25 is formed by recessing the outer surface of the reel body 3, for example, the outer surface of the bulge portion 23b.

[0031] As shown in Figs. 4 and 6, the accommodating section 25 has a button accommodating section 27, a guide hole 29, and a holding hole 31. The button accommodating section 27 is formed in a concave shape so as to accommodate the switching button 51. As shown in Fig. 6, the guide hole 29 penetrates the bottom of the button accommodating section 27. A guide shaft 57 of the switching button 51, which will be described later, is disposed in the guide hole 29. The holding hole 31 penetrates the bottom of the button accommodating section 27. A holding section 53 of the restriction mechanism 17, which will be described later, is disposed in the holding hole 31.

[0032] The spool shaft 5 shown in Fig. 3 is supported by the reel body 3. The spool 7 is supported via bearings 8a and 8b so as to be rotatable in the circumferential direction of the spool relative to the spool shaft 5. This allows the spool 7 to rotate relative to the reel body 3. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the handle 9 is disposed at a distance from the cover member 23 in the axial direction of the spool.

[0033] As shown in Fig. 3, the rotation of the handle 9 is transmitted to the spool 7 via the rotation transmission mechanism 11 and the drag mechanism 13. The rotation transmission mechanism 11 transmits the rotation of the handle 9 to the drag mechanism 13. The rotation transmission mechanism 11 has a handle shaft 33, a main gear 35, and a pinion gear 37. The handle shaft 33 is connected to the handle 9. The handle shaft 33 is rotatably supported by the handle support portion 23b1.

[0034] The main gear 35 rotates in conjunction with the rotation of the handle shaft 33. The main gear 35 meshes with the pinion gear 37. The pinion gear 37 is disposed radially outward of the spool shaft 5 and is rotatably supported by the spool shaft 5. In the rotation transmission mechanism 11, when the handle shaft 33 rotates, the pinion gear 37 rotates via the main gear 35.

[0035] 3, the drag mechanism 13 brakes the rotation of the spool 7. The drag mechanism 13 has a friction target 39, a moving mechanism 41, a first drag disk 43, and a second drag disk 45. The friction target 39 is provided on a flange portion of the spool 7. Specifically, the friction target 39 is fixed to the flange portion of the spool 7 so as to be movable in the spool axial direction relative to the spool 7 and to be rotatable integrally with the spool 7 in the spool circumferential direction.

[0036] The friction target member 39 is disposed between the first drag disc 43 and the second drag disc 45 in the spool axial direction. Specifically, the friction target member 39 is disposed between the first friction member 43a of the first drag disc 43 and the second friction member 45a of the second drag disc 45 in the spool axial direction. The first friction member 43a and the second friction member 45a come into contact with the friction target member 39. This friction force generates a braking force against the rotation of the spool 7.

[0037] 3, the first drag disc 43 is disposed between the flange portion 7a of the spool 7 and a drag cover 47 fixed to the outer periphery of the flange portion 7a of the spool 7 in the spool axial direction. In detail, the first drag disc 43 is disposed between the friction target member 39 and the drag cover 47 in the spool axial direction. The first drag disc 43 is rotatably supported on the spool shaft 5 via a bearing 44a. The first drag disc 43 engages with the pinion gear 37 so as to rotate integrally therewith.

[0038] A first friction member 43a is fixed to a side surface of the first drag disc 43. The first friction member 43a is disposed between the friction target member 39 and the first drag disc 43 in the spool axial direction. The first friction member 43a comes into contact with the friction target member 39.

[0039] 3, the second drag disc 45 is disposed between the flange portion 7a of the spool 7 and the drag cover 47 in the spool axial direction. In detail, the second drag disc 45 is disposed between the flange portion 7a of the spool 7 and the friction target member 39 in the spool axial direction. The second drag disc 45 is rotatably supported on the spool shaft 5 via a bearing 44b.

[0040] The second drag disc 45 rotates integrally with the first drag disc 43 via the connecting shaft 43b of the first drag disc 43. In this state, the second drag disc 45 moves in the spool axial direction together with the spool shaft 5 by the moving mechanism 41. That is, the second drag disc 45 moves toward or away from the first drag disc 43 in the spool axial direction by the moving mechanism 41.

[0041] A second friction member 45a is fixed to a side surface of the second drag disc 45. The second friction member 45a is disposed between the friction target member 39 and the second drag disc 45 in the spool axial direction. The second friction member 45a comes into contact with the friction target member 39.

[0042] 3, the movement mechanism 41 is provided between the drag adjustment lever 15 and the spool shaft 5. The movement mechanism 41 moves the spool shaft 5 in the spool axial direction by swinging the drag adjustment lever 15. The movement of the spool shaft 5 in the spool axial direction causes the second drag disc 45 to move toward the first drag disc 43 or the second drag disc 45 to move away from the first drag disc 43.

[0043] 1 and 2, the drag adjusting lever 15 swings relative to the reel body 3. The drag adjusting lever 15 swings around the axis X1 of the spool shaft 5. For example, the drag adjusting lever 15 is provided to be swingable relative to the cover member 23. In detail, the drag adjusting lever 15 is provided to be swingable relative to the lever support portion 23b2 of the cover member 23.

[0044] 5, the drag adjusting lever 15 swings between a first lever position P1 and a second lever position P2. In detail, the drag adjusting lever 15 swings between the first lever position P1 and the second lever position P2 along the outer surface of the cover member 23 (bulging portion 23b) in the spool axial direction.

[0045] The swing range of the drag adjustment lever 15 is limited by the restriction mechanism 17. The swing range is defined by a first lever position P1 and a second lever position P2. When the swing range of the drag adjustment lever 15 is limited by the restriction mechanism 17, the drag adjustment lever 15 swings between the first lever position P1 and a third lever position P3.

[0046] As shown in Fig. 5, at the first lever position P1, the drag adjustment lever 15 is located upstream in the clockwise direction in the side view of Fig. 5. At the first lever position P1, the drag mechanism 13 is set so that the spool 7 rotates freely. At the first lever position P1, in the drag mechanism 13 shown in Fig. 3, the first friction member 43a of the first drag disc 43 and the second friction member 45a of the second drag disc 45 are separated from the frictioned member 39.

[0047] At the second lever position P2, the drag adjustment lever 15 is located downstream in the clockwise direction in the side view of Fig. 5. At the second lever position P2, the drag mechanism 13 is set so that the maximum braking force acts on the spool 7. At the second lever position P2, in the drag mechanism 13 shown in Fig. 3, the maximum braking force acts on the frictional member 39 in a state in which the frictional member 39 is sandwiched between the first friction member 43a of the first drag disc 43 and the second friction member 45a of the second drag disc 45. In other words, the maximum braking force acts on the spool 7.

[0048] At the third lever position P3, the drag adjustment lever 15 is located between the swing ranges of the first lever position P1 and the second lever position P2. At the third lever position P3, an intermediate braking force acts on the spool 7. The intermediate braking force is between the braking force acting on the spool 7 when the drag adjustment lever 15 is located at the first lever position P1 and the braking force acting on the spool 7 when the drag adjustment lever 15 is located at the second lever position P2.

[0049] 5, the restriction mechanism 17 is provided between the swing ranges of the first lever position P1 and the second lever position P2. The restriction mechanism 17 is used to restrict the movement of the drag adjustment lever 15 from the third lever position P3 to the second lever position P2.

[0050] 5 and 6, at least a part of the restriction mechanism 17 is housed in the housing portion 25. The restriction mechanism 17 has a switching button 51 (an example of a switching portion), a holding portion 53, and a biasing member 55.

[0051] 5, the switching button 51 is disposed between the first lever position P1 and the second lever position P2 in the swing direction (spool circumferential direction) of the drag adjustment lever 15. As described above, the switching button 51 is housed in the button housing portion 27 of the housing portion 25, and therefore the button housing portion 27 of the housing portion 25 is disposed between the first lever position P1 and the second lever position P2 in the swing direction of the drag adjustment lever 15.

[0052] As shown in Fig. 6, the switching button 51 can be switched between a restrictive position RP and an allowable position AP. In the restrictive position RP, the switching button 51 protrudes from the outer surface of the reel body 3 in the spool axial direction, for example, the outer surface of the cover member 23 (bulge 23b). This restricts movement of the drag adjustment lever 15 from the third lever position P3 to the second lever position P2. In the allowable position AP, the switching button 51 is accommodated in the button accommodating portion 27. This allows movement of the drag adjustment lever 15 from the third lever position P3 to the second lever position P2.

[0053] 6, the switching button 51 is provided with a guide shaft 57. The guide shaft 57 is inserted into the guide hole 29 of the housing portion 25. A retaining member 59, for example, a C-shaped retaining ring 59a, is attached to the tip of the guide shaft 57. In detail, the C-shaped retaining ring 59a and a washer 59b are attached to the tip of the guide shaft 57.

[0054] 6, the holder 53 holds the switching button 51 in at least one of the restricted position RP and the allowed position AP. In this embodiment, the holder 53 holds the switching button 51 in both the restricted position RP and the allowed position AP.

[0055] The holding portion 53 is provided on the reel body 3 and engages with the switching button 51. Specifically, the holding portion 53 is a screw member. The screw member 53 is inserted into the holding hole 31 of the accommodation portion 25 and screws into the switching button 51. In this way, the screw member 53 holds the switching button 51 in both the restricted position RP and the permitted position AP.

[0056] 6, the biasing member 55 is disposed between the reel body 3 and the switching button 51. In this embodiment, the biasing member 55 biases the switching button 51 from the permissible position AP toward the restricted position RP.

[0057] The biasing member 55 is a coil spring. The coil spring 55 is disposed around the guide shaft 57. In a compressed state, the coil spring 55 is disposed between the annular step portion 29a provided in the guide hole 29 and the switching button 51. That is, the coil spring 55 biases the switching button 51 in a direction away from the bottom surface of the button accommodating portion 27. The coil spring 55 may act on the switching button 51 so as to pull the switching button 51 from the restricted position RP toward the permitted position AP.

[0058] In this regulating mechanism 17, by rotating a holding portion 53, for example a screw member 53, the position of the switching button 51 can be switched from one of the regulating position RP and the permissible position AP to the other of the regulating position RP and the permissible position AP.

[0059] For example, when the switching button 51 is in the restrictive position RP, the switching button 51 protrudes from the cover member 23 (bulging portion 23b), and the drag adjustment lever 15 can swing between the first lever position P1 and the third lever position P3. When the switching button 51 is in the permissible position AP, the switching button 51 is accommodated in the button accommodating portion 27, and the drag adjustment lever 15 can swing between the first lever position P1 and the second lever position P2.

[0060] In this dual-bearing reel 1, the switch button 51 is held in the restricted position RP and the permissible position AP by the holding portion 53 (screw member 53), which improves the operability of the drag adjustment lever 15. In this dual-bearing reel 1, the switch button 51 can be securely held in the restricted position RP and the permissible position AP by the holding portion 53 (screw member 53).

[0061] In this dual-bearing reel 1, at least a portion of the regulating mechanism 17 is housed in the housing portion 25, so that the operability of the drag adjustment lever 15 can be improved without significantly changing the configuration of the reel body 3 of the prior art.

[0062] In this dual-bearing reel 1, a biasing member 55 (coil spring 55) is positioned between the reel body 3 and the switch button 51, so that the position of the switch button 51 can be easily changed from either the regulated position RP or the permissible position AP to the other of the regulated position RP or the permissible position AP.

[0063] Modifications In the first embodiment, an example has been shown in which the retaining hole 31 penetrates the bottom of the button accommodating portion 27. As shown in Fig. 7, the retaining hole 131 may penetrate the upper wall of the button accommodating portion 27. In this modification, the retaining hole 131 penetrates the outer wall of the button accommodating portion 27 toward the inside in the radial direction of the spool.

[0064] In this case, the holding portion 53 (screw member 53) is inserted into the holding hole 131 from above the reel body 3 and screwed into the switching button 51. As a result, the switching button 51 is held in the permissible position AP by the holding portion 53 (screw member 53). In this state, when the holding portion 53 (screw member 53) is removed, the switching button 51 is returned to the restricted position RP by the biasing member 55 (coil spring 55). In this modified example, the position of the switching button 51 can be easily changed without removing the cover member 23.

[0065] Second embodiment In the second embodiment, the configuration of the restriction mechanism is mainly different from that of the first embodiment. The following describes the configuration different from that of the first embodiment. In the second embodiment, the same components as those in the first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals as those in the first embodiment, and the description thereof is based on the configuration of the first embodiment.

[0066] In the second embodiment, as shown in Fig. 8A, the housing portion 25 has a button housing portion 27, a hole portion 61, and a slit 63. The shape of the button housing portion 27 is the same as that of the first embodiment. The hole portion 61 penetrates the bottom of the button housing portion 27. The slit 63 is formed on the inner circumferential surface of the hole portion 61. Specifically, the slit 63 includes a pair of slits 63. The pair of slits 63 are formed on the inner circumferential surface of the hole portion 61 to face each other, and extend in the spool axial direction.

[0067] Switching button 151 is provided with large diameter hole 151a and small diameter hole 151b. Large diameter hole 151a is recessed from the outer surface of switching button 151. Small diameter hole 151b penetrates the bottom surface of large diameter hole 151a. Small diameter hole 151b is formed to have a smaller diameter than large diameter hole 151a.

[0068] The holding portion 153 has a head portion 153a (an example of an engagement portion), a shaft portion 153b, a first contact portion 153c, and a second contact portion 153d. The head portion 153a engages with the switching button 151. Specifically, the head portion 153a is disposed in a large diameter hole 151a of the switching button 151.

[0069] The shaft portion 153b is formed integrally with the head portion 153a. The shaft portion 153b is inserted through the small diameter hole 151b of the switch button 151 and the hole portion 61 of the button accommodating portion 27. A biasing member 55, for example, a coil spring 55, is disposed in a compressed state around the shaft portion 153b. Both ends of the coil spring 55 contact the annular step portion 29a provided in the hole portion 61 and the switch button 151, respectively.

[0070] The first contact portion 153c is, for example, a C-shaped retaining ring. The C-shaped retaining ring 153c is attached to the tip of the shaft portion 153b. The second contact portion 153d is, for example, a pair of protrusions 153d. The pair of protrusions 153d is provided on the shaft portion 153b between the head portion 153a and the C-shaped retaining ring 153c.

[0071] The pair of protruding portions 153d are formed by using a pin member. The pin member is detachably attached to the shaft portion 153b. The pair of protruding portions 153d are formed on the shaft portion 153b by making both ends of the pin member protrude from the outer circumferential surface of the shaft portion 153b. That is, in this embodiment, the pair of protruding portions 153d are both ends of the pin member.

[0072] 8A, when the switching button 151 is in the restrictive position RP, the C-shaped retaining ring 153c (first contact portion) abuts against the inner surface 23c of the bulging portion 23b of the cover member 23. In this case, the pair of protrusions 153d are disposed inside the pair of slits 63. Here, when the switching button 151 is pressed, the switching button 151 changes from the restrictive position RP to the permissible position AP. As a result, the C-shaped retaining ring 153c moves away from the inner surface 23c of the bulging portion 23b of the cover member 23, and the pair of protrusions 153d move away from the pair of slits 63.

[0073] In this state, when the head 153a is rotated, the shaft 153b and the pair of protrusions 153d (second contact portions) rotate, and as shown in Fig. 8B, the pair of protrusions 153d face the inner surface 23c of the bulging portion 23b of the cover member 23. When the pressure on the switching button 151 is released in this state, the pair of protrusions 153d come into contact with the inner surface 23c of the bulging portion 23b of the cover member 23. As a result, the switching button 151 is held in the permissible position AP.

[0074] When the head 153a is further rotated in the permissible position AP in Fig. 8B, the pair of protrusions 153d reach the positions of the pair of slits 63. In this state, the switching button 151 is pressed by the coil spring 55, so that the pair of protrusions 153d return to the inside of the pair of slits 63 and the C-shaped retaining ring 153c abuts against the inner surface 23c of the bulging portion 23b of the cover member 23. As a result, the switching button 151 is held in the restricted position RP as shown in Fig. 8A.

[0075] In this dual-bearing reel 1, the C-shaped retaining ring 153c (first abutment portion) and the pair of protrusions 153d (second abutment portions) are abutted separately against the reel body 3, thereby enabling the switch button 151 to be held in both the restrictive position RP and the permissible position AP.

[0076] Modifications In the second embodiment, an example is shown in which the second contact portion is a pair of protrusions 153d. The second contact portion may be formed of a collar member without using the pair of protrusions 153d and the pair of slits 63. The collar member is formed in a C-shape. The collar member is detachably attached to the shaft portion 153b.

[0077] When the switching button 151 is in the restricted position RP, the collar member is removed from the shaft portion 153b, and the C-shaped retaining ring 153c (first contact portion) comes into contact with the outer surface of the accommodation portion 25 on the second side plate 21b side. When the switching button 151 is pressed, the C-shaped retaining ring 153c comes out of contact with the inner surface 23c of the bulging portion 23b of the cover member 23.

[0078] In this state, the collar member is inserted between the C-shaped retaining ring 153c and the inner surface 23c of the bulging portion 23b of the cover member 23. As a result, the switching button 151 is held in the permissible position AP.

[0079] Third embodiment In the third embodiment, the configuration of the restriction mechanism is mainly different from that of the first embodiment. The following describes the configuration different from that of the first embodiment. In the third embodiment, the same components as those in the first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals as those in the first embodiment, and the description thereof is based on the configuration of the first embodiment.

[0080] In the third embodiment, when the switching button 251 is in the restricted position RP as shown in FIG. 9A, a pressing force PF (see FIG. 9B) applied to the switching button 251 changes the position of the switching button 251 to the permissible position AP as shown in FIG. 9C.

[0081] As shown in Fig. 9C, the holder 253 holds the switching button 251 in the permissible position AP. When the holder 253 holds the switching button 251 in the permissible position AP, a pressing force PF (see Fig. 9B) on the switching button 251 causes the holder 253 to release the hold on the switching button 251 as shown in Fig. 9A.

[0082] As shown in Figures 9A to 9C, the housing portion 25 of the reel body 3 has a button housing portion 27 and a mechanism housing portion 65. The button housing portion 27 houses a switching button 251. The configuration of the button housing portion 27 is the same as that of the first embodiment.

[0083] The mechanism accommodating portion 65 accommodates the restriction mechanism 217. The mechanism accommodating portion 65 is provided at the bottom of the button accommodating portion 27. The mechanism accommodating portion 65 has a hole 67. The hole 67 is formed in a bottomed cylindrical shape by recessing the bottom of the button accommodating portion 27. The cross section of the inner circumferential surface of the hole 67 is formed into a circular shape.

[0084] The hole 67 has a central axis X2 that passes through the center of the inner peripheral surface of the hole 67. The inner peripheral surface of the hole 67 is formed parallel to the central axis X2. In the third embodiment, the axial direction about the central axis X2 is referred to as the "axial direction". The circumferential direction about the central axis X2 is referred to as the "circumferential direction". The radial direction about the central axis X2 is referred to as the "radial direction".

[0085] A pair of annular grooves 67a, 67b are formed on the inner circumferential surface of the hole 67. Two positioning members 68a, 68b are attached to the pair of annular grooves 67a, 67b. Each of the two positioning members 68a, 68b, for example, two C-rings, is attached to the pair of annular grooves 67a, 67b by elastic deformation.

[0086] 9A to 9C, the restriction mechanism 217 has a switching button 251 and a holder 253. The position of the switching button 251 is changed from either the restricted position RP shown in Fig. 9A or the permissible position AP shown in Fig. 9C to the other of the restricted position RP shown in Fig. 9A or the permissible position AP shown in Fig. 9C. The position of the switching button 251 is changed by the switching button 251 moving in the axial direction.

[0087] Hereinafter, the direction in which the switching button 251 moves when the attitude of the switching button 251 changes from the restrictive attitude RP to the permissible attitude AP is referred to as the first axis direction. The direction in which the switching button 251 moves when the attitude of the switching button 251 changes from the permissible attitude AP to the restrictive attitude RP is referred to as the second axis direction. That is, the moving directions of the switching button 251 include the first axis direction and the second axis direction. The first axis direction and the second axis direction extend parallel to the central axis X2.

[0088] As shown in Fig. 9A to Fig. 9C, the holding portion 253 has a rotating member 71, an engaging member 73, and a biasing member 74. The rotating member 71 is disposed inside the hole portion 67 of the mechanism accommodating portion 65. In this state, the rotating member 71 rotates. In Fig. 9A to Fig. 9C, the rotation direction of the rotating member 71 is indicated by the symbol "R". The rotating member 71 has a rotation center X3.

[0089] The rotating member 71 is disposed inside the hole 67 so that the rotation axis X3 of the rotating member 71 is disposed on the central axis X2 of the hole 67. The rotating member 71 is disposed between the positioning member 68a and the engaging member 73 in the axial direction.

[0090] The rotating member 71 is biased by the rotation mechanism 75 to rotate in a rotation direction R relative to the reel body 3. The rotation mechanism 75 is disposed between the rotating member 71 and the reel body 3. The rotation mechanism 75 may be configured in any manner as long as it can rotate in the rotation direction R relative to the reel body 3.

[0091] As shown in Fig. 10A, the rotating member 71 has a tubular portion 77, a flange portion 79, and a plurality of engaged cams 81. The tubular portion 77 is formed in a cylindrical shape. The flange portion 79 is provided on the tubular portion 77. The flange portion 79 protrudes in the radial direction from the outer circumferential surface of the tubular portion 77 at one end of the tubular portion 77. The flange portion 79 is formed in an annular shape. The flange portion 79 may be a plurality of protrusions.

[0092] 9A, the flange portion 79 is disposed between the two positioning members 68a, 68b. The flange portion 79 is supported by the two positioning members 68a, 68b so as to be immovable in the axial direction and rotatable in the circumferential direction.

[0093] As shown in Fig. 10A, the multiple engaged cams 81 include, for example, six engaged cams 81. The multiple engaged cams 81 extend in the axial direction from the other end of the cylindrical portion 77. The multiple engaged cams 81 are disposed at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. Each of the multiple engaged cams 81 is formed by a first wall surface 81a, a second wall surface 81b, a first cam surface 81c, a second cam surface 81d, and a connecting surface 81e. In Fig. 10A, only one engaged cam 81 is indicated by a reference symbol.

[0094] The first wall surface 81a and the second wall surface 81b form a pair of side surfaces of the engaged cam 81. The first wall surface 81a and the second wall surface 81b are arranged parallel to each other with a gap therebetween in the circumferential direction. The first cam surface 81c forms the tip surface of the engaged cam 81. The first cam surface 81c extends from the tip of the first wall surface 81a toward the first end of the connecting surface 81e. The first cam surface 81c extends in the circumferential direction from the tip of the first wall surface 81a toward the flange portion 79 side.

[0095] The second cam surface 81d forms the tip surface of the engaged cam 81. The second cam surface 81d extends from the second end of the connecting surface 81e toward the tip of the second wall surface 81b. The second cam surface 81d extends in the circumferential direction from the second end of the connecting surface 81e toward the flange portion 79. In this embodiment, the inclination angle of the second cam surface 81d is the same as the inclination angle of the first cam surface 81c.

[0096] The connecting surface 81e forms a tip surface of the engaged cam 81. The connecting surface 81e extends in the axial direction. One end of the connecting surface 81e is connected to the first cam surface 81c. A second end of the connecting surface 81e is connected to the second cam surface 81d. The first end of the connecting surface 81e is disposed between the second end of the connecting surface 81e and the flange portion 79 in the axial direction.

[0097] 10A, slits 82 are provided between adjacent engaged cams 81. The multiple slits 82 include, for example, six slits 82. Each of the multiple slits 82 is formed by the other end of the cylindrical portion 77, a first wall surface 81a, and a second wall surface 81b. The other end of the cylindrical portion 77 forms the bottom of the slit 82. Each of the multiple slits 82 is disposed at equal intervals in the circumferential direction.

[0098] 9A to 9C, the engagement member 73 is disposed inside the hole 67 of the mechanism accommodating portion 65. For example, the engagement member 73 is disposed inside the hole 67 such that the central axis X4 of the engagement member 73 is disposed on the central axis X2 of the hole 67. The engagement member 73 is disposed between the rotating member 71 and the bottom surface of the hole 67 in the axial direction. The engagement member 73 engages with the rotating member 71.

[0099] As shown in FIG. 10B, the engagement member 73 is attached to the switching button 251. As a result, the engagement member 73 moves in the axial direction together with the switching button 251. The engagement member 73 has a main body portion 83 and a plurality of engagement cams 85. The main body portion 83 is formed in a cylindrical shape. The main body portion 83 is inserted into the inside of the tube portion 77 of the rotating member 71 and is attached to the switching button 251. The main body portion 83 is urged toward the rotating member 71 by a urging member 74 described later.

[0100] The multiple engaging cams 85 are provided on the outer peripheral surface of the main body portion 83. The multiple engaged cams 81 include, for example, six multiple engaged cams 81. The multiple engaging cams 85 protrude radially from the outer peripheral surface of the main body portion 83. Each of the multiple engaging cams 85 is arranged at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. Each of the multiple engaging cams 85 is configured to be able to be arranged in each of the multiple slits 82, and to be able to engage with each of the multiple engaged cams 81.

[0101] 10B, each of the engaging cams 85 has a sliding surface 85a and a third cam surface 85b. The sliding surface 85a extends in the axial direction. The sliding surface 85a contacts the first wall surface 81a of the engaged cam 81 and the connecting surface 81e of the engaged cam 81.

[0102] The third cam surface 85b extends while inclining in the circumferential direction. The inclination angle of the third cam surface 85b is the same as the inclination angle of the first cam surface 81c of the engaged cam 81 and the inclination angle of the second cam surface 81d of the engaged cam 81. The third cam surface 85b comes into contact with the first cam surface 81c and the second cam surface 81d.

[0103] 9A to 9C, the biasing member 74 is, for example, a coil spring. The coil spring 74 is arranged in a compressed state between the engaging member 73 and the axial bottom surface of the hole 67. The coil spring 74 biases the engaging member 73 toward the rotating member 71.

[0104] The restriction mechanism 217 operates as follows. First, as shown in Fig. 9A, when the position of the switching button 251 is in the restriction position RP, the switching button 251 protrudes from the outer surface of the reel body 3. In this state, the engagement cam 85 abuts against the bottom of the slit 82.

[0105] Here, when the switching button 251 is pressed in the first axial direction, the engaging cam 85 moves in the first axial direction within the slit 82. At this time, the sliding surface 85a of the engaging cam 85 moves in the first axial direction along the first wall surface 81a of the engaged cam 81.

[0106] Next, as shown in Fig. 9B, when the engaging cam 85 is disposed outside the slit 82, the rotating member 71 is rotated in the rotation direction R by the rotating mechanism 75. As a result, the first cam surface 81c of the engaged cam 81 moves along the third cam surface 85b of the engaging cam 85, and the connecting surface 81e of the engaged cam 81 comes into contact with the sliding surface 85a of the engaging cam 85, as shown in Fig. 9C.

[0107] In this state, the third cam surface 85b of the engaging cam 85 presses the first cam surface 81c of the engaged cam 81 by the biasing member 74. In this manner, the state in which the engaging cam 85 engages with the engaged cam 81 is the state in which the attitude of the switching button 251 is maintained in the permissible attitude AP.

[0108] 9C, when the switching button 251 is pressed in the first axial direction, the sliding surface 85a of the engaging cam 85 moves in the first axial direction along the connecting surface 81e of the engaged cam 81. When the engaging cam 85 is disposed axially outward of the connecting surface 81e of the engaged cam 81, the rotating member 71 is rotated in the rotation direction R by the rotating mechanism 75.

[0109] At this time, the third cam surface 85b of the engaging cam 85 moves along the second cam surface 81d of the engaged cam 81. Thereafter, the engaging cam 85 moves in the second axial direction within the adjacent slit 82, and as shown in Fig. 9A, the engaging cam 85 abuts against the bottom of the adjacent slit 82. This causes the position of the switching button 251 to return to the restricted position RP.

[0110] In the dual-bearing reel 1 described above, the angler can easily change the position of the switching button 251 from either the regulated position RP or the permissible position AP to the other of the regulated position RP or the permissible position AP by repeatedly applying a pressing force PF to the switching button 251.

[0111] (Other embodiments) As shown in FIG. 11, in order to hold the switching button 51 in the permissible position AP, with the switching button 51 housed in the button housing portion 27, the cover member 87 may be fixed to the outer surface of the reel body 3, for example, the cover member 23 (bulge portion 23b), using a fixing member 89 such as a screw member.
