[0017] 1 to 8 show an in-vehicle display device 1 as a first embodiment of the display device of the present invention. As shown in Figs. 1 to 3, in the in-vehicle display device 1, the Y1-Y2 direction is the up-down direction, the Y1 direction is the up direction and the Y2 direction is the down direction. The X1-X2 direction is the left-right direction, the X1 direction is the left direction and the X2 direction is the right direction. As shown in Figs. 6 to 8, the Z1-Z2 direction is the front-rear direction with respect to the vehicle body. The Z1 direction is the forward direction of the vehicle and further inward of the panel. The Z2 direction is the rear, toward the inside of the vehicle and further outward of the panel.
[0018] The in-vehicle display device 1 has a panel 2. The panel 2 constitutes a part of an instrument panel or dashboard located in front of the driver's seat and the passenger seat. The panel 2 may constitute a part of a center console located between the driver's seat and the passenger seat. An upper opening 3, which is a first opening, and a lower opening 4, which is a second opening, are formed in the panel 2 with an interval therebetween in the up-down direction (Y1-Y2 direction).
[0019] The display unit 10 is provided in the in-vehicle display device 1. The display unit 10 has a display panel, such as a liquid crystal display panel with an LED backlight or an electroluminescence display panel, built in a thin case 12. As shown in Figs. 1 to 3, the case 12 of the display unit 10 is rectangular and has an upper end 12a, a lower end 12b, and both side ends 12c, 12c. A display screen 11 of the display panel appears on the surface of the display unit 10 facing rearward (toward the vehicle interior: Z2 direction). The display screen 11 is rectangular and has an upper end 11a, a lower end 11b, and both side ends 11c, 11c. The upper end 11a of the display screen 11 is located close to the upper end 12a of the case 12, the lower end 11b of the display screen 11 is located close to the lower end 12b of the case 12, and both side ends 11c, 11c of the display screen 11 are located close to both side ends 12c, 12c of the case 12.
[0020] The display screen 11 is a continuous rectangular area surrounded by the upper end 11a, the lower end 11b and both side ends 11c, 11c. The display screen 11 can display a unified image using all pixels arranged across the entire screen, or the display screen 11 can be divided into a predetermined number of pixel groups, each pixel group constituting a screen unit, and a different image can be displayed for each screen unit. In addition, a plurality of display screens that perform display operations independently of each other may be provided on the surface facing the rear (Z2 direction) of the display unit 10, and a strip-shaped non-display area may be formed between adjacent display screens. For example, a configuration in which an upper display screen and a lower display screen are provided separately may be used.
[0021] 4 to 8 show the movement mechanism 20 provided inside the panel 2. The movement mechanism 20 is powered by a motor M, and the movement mechanism 20 moves the display unit 10 between an upper limit position shown in FIGS. 2 and 7 and a lower limit position shown in FIGS. 3 and 8.
[0022] As shown in Fig. 4 and Fig. 5, as components of the movable side of the movement mechanism 20, a pair of movable cam parts 22 protruding forward (in the Z1 direction) from both the left and right sides of the case 12 and a movable support part 21 protruding forward from a position intermediate between the two movable cam parts 22 located on the left and right are integrally formed in the display unit 10. The movable support part 21 and the movable cam part 22 are integrally formed with the case 12 using a synthetic resin material or a light metal material. As shown in Fig. 6, a movable cam hole 23 is formed in each movable cam part 22. The movable cam hole 23 has a bent part midway and extends continuously from the upper end part 12a to the lower end part 12b of the case 12.
[0023] As shown in FIG. 4 and FIG. 6, the moving mechanism 20 is provided with a fixed bracket 24 as a fixed side component. The fixed bracket 24 is made of a metal plate and is fixed inside a panel 2 that constitutes a part of an instrument panel or the like. A pair of fixed support parts 25 is integrally formed on the fixed bracket 24 by bending backward (Z2 direction) from both left and right sides. A fixed sliding shaft 26 is fixed to the rear end of each fixed support part 25, and each fixed sliding shaft 26 is slidably inserted into the movable cam hole 23. A fixed cam part 27 is fixed to the fixed bracket 24 at a middle position between the left and right fixed support parts 25. As shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6, the fixed cam part 27 is formed with a fixed cam hole 28 and a rack part 29. The fixed cam hole 28 has a bent part in the middle and extends continuously in the up and down direction. The rack part 29 is formed with fixed teeth aligned to follow the fixed cam holes 28.
[0024] The moving mechanism 20 is provided with a driving mechanism 30 having a motor M as a power source. As shown in FIG. 5, the driving mechanism 30 is provided with a gear bracket 31, and the motor M is fixed to the gear bracket 31. The gear bracket 31 is provided with a main shaft 32, and the gear bracket 31 is rotatably supported by the main shaft 32. A movable sliding shaft 33 is fixed to the tip of the movable support part 21 formed integrally with the case 12 of the display unit 10, and the movable sliding shaft 33 is slidably inserted into the fixed cam hole 28. A connecting hole 33a is formed in the movable sliding shaft 33, and the main shaft 32 is inserted and fixed in the connecting hole 33a. The connecting hole 33a is female threaded and the main shaft 32 is male threaded, and the main shaft 32 is screwed into the connecting hole 33a and fixed. Alternatively, the main shaft 32 may be press-fitted into the connecting hole 33a.
[0025] As shown in FIG. 5, the movable support part 21 and the drive mechanism 30 are positioned on either side of the fixed cam part 27, and are connected to each other via a movable sliding shaft 33 that passes through the fixed cam hole 28. The entire drive mechanism 30 is rotatable around a main shaft 32 connected to the movable sliding shaft 33 as a fulcrum. A sliding countershaft 34 is fixed to the gear bracket 31, and the sliding countershaft 34 is inserted into the fixed cam hole 28. The movable sliding shaft 33 connected to the main shaft 32 and the sliding countershaft 34 slide in the fixed cam hole 28, so that the drive mechanism 30 moves up and down together with the movable support part 21 while changing its posture in response to changes in the trajectory of the fixed cam hole 28. In the movement mechanism 20, the movable cam hole 23 and the fixed sliding shaft 26, and the fixed cam hole 28 and the movable sliding shaft 33 constitute a cam guide mechanism that guides the display unit 10 up and down relative to the fixed side.
[0026] As shown in Fig. 5, in the drive mechanism 30, a worm gear 37 is fixed to the output shaft of a motor M fixed to a gear bracket 31, and the worm gear 37 meshes with a small gear 36 rotatably supported by the gear bracket 31. A pinion gear 35 is rotatably supported by a main shaft 32 that rotatably supports the gear bracket 31, and the rotation output of the worm gear 37 is reduced via the small gear 36 and given to the pinion gear 35. As shown in Fig. 6, the pinion gear 35 meshes with a rack portion 29 formed on the fixed cam portion 27. The rack portion 29 constitutes a part of the drive mechanism 30.
[0027] Next, the display operation of the in-vehicle display device 1 will be described. When the motor M of the drive mechanism 30 starts, the rotational power of the in-vehicle display device 10 is decelerated and applied to the pinion gear 35. The pinion gear 35 rotates while meshing with the rack portion 29 formed on the fixed cam portion 27, thereby applying a moving force to the display unit 10. The movable sliding shaft 33 provided on the movable support portion 21 slides in the fixed cam hole 28 formed on the fixed cam portion 27, and the movable cam hole 23 formed on the pair of movable cam portions 22 slides on the fixed sliding shaft 26 provided on the fixed support portion 25, so that the display unit 10 is moved between the upper limit movement shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 7 and the lower limit position shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 8 while changing its posture. The display unit 10 can be stopped at any position between the upper limit position and the lower limit position.
[0028] In the use state shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 6, the display unit 10 is stopped at a neutral position where it has moved slightly downward from the upper limit. In the use state in the neutral position, a part of the display screen 11 provided on the display unit 10 protrudes upward from the upper opening (first opening) 3, and a part of the display screen 11 protrudes downward from the lower opening (second opening) 4. The display area of the display screen 11 exposed from the lower opening 4 is slightly larger than the display area of the display screen 11 exposed from the upper opening 3. In the use state in the neutral position, for example, a relatively small amount of information such as a guide arrow display for right and left turns, a driving speed display, or a warning display is displayed in the area of the display screen 11 exposed from the upper opening 3. For example, a display that the driver does not need to see frequently, such as an operation part display for an audio device, an operation part display for an air conditioner, or an operating state display for an air conditioner, is displayed in the area exposed from the lower opening 4.
[0029] 1 and 6, the display area exposed from the upper opening 3 of the display screen 11 and the display area exposed from the lower opening 4 can be changed to any size by operating the motor M of the drive mechanism 30 to move the display unit 10 upward (in the U direction) or downward (in the D direction) to any position and then stopping the display unit 10. With this change in the display area, the display on the display screen 11 is switched to information different from that in the use state shown in FIGS. 1 and 6.
[0030] When the display unit 10 is moved upward (in the U direction) from the neutral use state shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 6 to the upper limit position and stopped, the display unit 10 is set to the upper limit use state shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 7. In the upper limit use state, the display area of the display screen 11 exposed from the upper opening 3 is increased compared to the neutral use state shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 6, while the display area of the display screen 11 exposed from the lower opening 4 is decreased compared to the neutral use state. In the upper limit use state, the display area of the display screen 11 exposed from the upper opening 3 displays a guide map screen when the car navigation system is operating or automobile driving information such as operation information of an automatic driving system or charging information of an electric vehicle. In the display area of the display screen 11 exposed from the lower opening 4, displays that the driver does not need to see frequently, such as an operation unit display of an audio device, an operation unit display of an air conditioner, or an operation state display of an air conditioner are displayed.
[0031] When the display unit 10 is moved downward (in the direction D) from the neutral position shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 6 to the lower limit position and stopped, the display unit 10 is set to the lower limit position shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 8. In the lower limit position, a part or the whole of the display screen 11 is exposed only from the lower opening 4, and the display screen 11 is not exposed from the upper opening 3. When the display unit 10 is stopped in the neutral position shown in FIG. 6 and the upper limit position shown in FIG. 7, the rising angle θ1 of the display screen 11 from the horizontal plane is the same. When the display unit 10 is stopped in the lower limit position as shown in FIG. 8, the rising angle θ2 of the display screen 11 from the horizontal plane becomes smaller than the angle θ1, and as shown in FIG. 3, the display screen 11 faces upward in a posture close to a horizontal posture. In the lower limit position, for example, information suitable for use when the vehicle is stopped is displayed. For example, a keyboard display for inputting information, an information display and an operation unit display for accessing a computer mounted on the vehicle for self-diagnosis, a television display, a recording display, etc.
[0032] In the in-vehicle display device 101 of the second embodiment shown in FIG. 9, the cam guide mechanism of the moving mechanism 20 extends further upward than the cam guide mechanism of the first embodiment, and the display unit 10 can be moved further upward than the upper limit position of the first embodiment shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 7. In the upper limit position of the display unit 10 shown in FIG. 9, a part or the whole of the display screen 11 protrudes only from the upper opening 3, and the display screen is not exposed from the lower opening 4. Almost the entire area of the display screen 11 protruding upward from the upper opening 3 can be used as a display area, and for example, a television image can be displayed or a recorded image can be displayed while the vehicle is stopped. In addition, when the upper opening 3 is located at a relatively low position and the display screen 11 protruding upward is unlikely to obstruct the driving field of view, it is also possible to display a guide map of a navigation device as a large screen on the display screen 11.
[0033] In the in-vehicle display device 1, 101 of the above embodiment, the display unit 10 can be stopped at a position where a part of the display screen 11 protrudes from both the upper opening 3 and the lower opening 4, and further, in this state, the exposed area of the display screen 11 from the upper opening 3 and the exposed area of the display screen 11 from the lower opening 4 can be changed. Since one display unit 10 can realize both an upper display image and a lower display image, a variety of displays can be realized by one display unit 10 and one image processing circuit.
[0034] Moreover, the in-vehicle display device 1, 101 of the embodiment can stop the display unit 10 moved by the movement mechanism 20 at a position where at least a part of the display screen 11 protrudes from the upper opening (first opening) 3 and at a position where at least a part of the display screen 11 protrudes from the lower opening (second opening). Furthermore, the display screen 11 can be stopped at a position where it is exposed only from the upper opening 3 and at a position where it is exposed only from the lower opening 4. Since the display screen 11 of one display unit 10 can be set to a state where it is exposed from the upper opening 3 and a state where it is exposed from the lower opening 4, various displays according to the purpose can be performed on the top and bottom without arranging separate display units above and below.
[0035] 1 and 9, in the in-vehicle display device 1, 101 of the embodiment, no components are disposed in the intermediate region PF between the upper opening 3 and the lower opening 4 in the panel 2, and the intermediate region PF and the regions to the left and right of the intermediate region PF have a continuous appearance on the left and right of the surface of the instrument panel or dashboard, etc. Although the display screen 11 appears above and below, the panel 2 has a continuous appearance on the left and right, so that the front of the vehicle interior can be decorated with a simple and highly designed design.
[0036] However, as in the in-vehicle display devices 201 and 301 of the third and fourth embodiments, it is also possible to provide an operation section and a display section in the intermediate region PF of the panel 2. In the in-vehicle display device 201 of the third embodiment shown in FIG. 10, an operation section 40 is provided in the intermediate region PF between the upper opening 3 and the lower opening 4 of the panel 2. The operation section 40 is provided with a plurality of operation buttons 41. FIG. 11 shows a cross-sectional view of the operation section 40. The operation button 41 has an operation contact section 42 that is in contact with a person's finger F and an operation facing section 43 that faces the display screen 11. The operation contact section 42 and the operation facing section 43 are conductive, and the operation button 41 is provided with a conductive path that connects the operation contact section 42 and the operation facing section 43. A holder section 45 is formed inside the intermediate region PF of the panel 2, and the operation button 41 is held by the holder section 45 so as to be freely advanced and retreated. A spring member 44 is provided inside the holder portion 45 for biasing the operation button 41 in a direction protruding from the surface of the panel 2 .
[0037] In the display screen 11 of the display unit 10, a capacitance sensor is provided on the inner surface of the front plate of the display panel. The capacitance sensor has a plurality of transparent electrodes provided on the inner surface of the front plate, and when a person's finger F approaches or touches it, it detects a change in mutual capacitance or self-capacitance, and identifies the coordinate position where the finger F approaches or touches it. As shown in FIG. 11, when the display unit 10 moves up and down and stops at any position, if the finger F touches the operation contact portion 42 of the operation button 41, the operation facing portion 43 becomes approximately the same ground potential as the finger F. The capacitance sensor provided on the display screen 11 detects the change in capacitance, and it is possible to recognize which operation button 41 the finger F has touched. Furthermore, when the operation button 41 is pressed by the finger F that has touched the operation contact portion 42, the operation facing portion 43 comes into contact with the surface of the display screen 11, and the mutual capacitance and self-capacitance of the sensor further change. By detecting this, it is possible to recognize, for example, that it is an input operation. In addition, when a finger F comes into contact with the operation contact portion 42, it is not determined that an operation input has occurred. Instead, it is determined that an operation input has occurred only when the operation button 41 is pressed with the finger F touching the operation contact portion 42 and the operating opposing portion 43 comes into contact with the surface of the display screen 11.
[0038] In the in-vehicle display device 301 of the fourth embodiment shown in Fig. 12, a display unit 48 is fixed to the middle region PF of the panel 2. The display unit 48 is a liquid crystal display panel or an electroluminescence display panel. In the in-vehicle display device 301, even when the protruding dimension of the display unit 10 from the upper opening 3 is reduced to ensure a wide forward driving field of vision, it is possible to display an image over a wide area by the partial area of the display screen 11 exposed from the upper opening 3, the partial area of the display screen 11 exposed from the lower opening 4, and the fixed display unit 48.
[0039] In the display device of the present invention, the first opening and the second opening may be opened at a distance in the left-right direction in a panel such as an instrument panel or a center console, and the display screen of the display unit may protrude to the left and right from each opening. The display device is not limited to be for vehicle use, and may be for home use or theater use. [Explanation of symbols]
