Abstract
To provide a detection device and a display unit which are narrow in a frame, and are high in sensitivity to detect an object in a non-contact state.SOLUTION: A detection device includes a plurality of first electrodes 24 extending in a first direction, a plurality of second electrodes 28 extending in a second direction crossing the first direction, and a control part. The control part selects two first electrodes 24 and two second electrodes 28 which are positioned on the outermost side in a prescribed detection area S1 as first detection electrodes 34, selects at least one of the first electrodes 24 and the second electrodes 28 which are not selected as the first detection electrode 34 as a first drive electrode 32, and applies a voltage to the first drive electrode 32 and thereby detects an object in a non-contact state, from a signal indicating electrostatic capacitance acquired from the first detection electrode 34.
