Abstract

The present disclosure relates to techniques for internal battery defect detection and identification. In one aspect, a non-invasive method for identifying and labeling defects in a battery cell includes transmitting an acoustic signal through a battery cell via one or more first transducers, receiving a response signal responsive to the acoustic signal with one or more second transducers, determining whether at least one feature of interest is present in the battery cell based on an analysis of the response signal, performing an identification and labeling process on the at least one feature of interest to determine at least one defect in the battery cell, and outputting results of the identification and labeling process.
