[0047] At present, with the development of the market, the applications of batteries are becoming more and more widespread. Batteries are not only widely used in energy storage power systems such as hydroelectric, thermal, wind and solar power plants, but also in many fields such as electric transportation such as electric bicycles, electric motorcycles and electric cars, military equipment and aerospace. As the application fields of batteries expand, the market demand is also constantly expanding.
[0048] Conventional batteries often discharge high-temperature mixed materials to the outside during thermal runaway. If the high-temperature mixed materials are discharged outside the battery and come into sufficient contact with air, it is likely to cause the battery to deflagrate and even explode, affecting the safety of related users.
[0049] Based on the above phenomenon, the inventor designs a cooling device to cool the battery, but the inventor further finds that even if the battery is cooled, after the battery experiences thermal runaway, it still discharges high-temperature mixed material to the outside, posing a safety risk.
[0050] As a result of investigations, the inventors believe that it is possible to treat the flammable exhaust smoke generated by the thermal runaway of the single cell to make it non-combustible. In order to treat the exhaust smoke and reduce its flammability, the inventors have conducted research and found that by setting a treatment structure to treat the exhaust smoke generated by thermal runaway, the parameters related to the flammability of the exhaust smoke are reduced, the possibility of the exhaust smoke burning is reduced, and the exhaust smoke is less likely to burn even if the battery goes into thermal runaway, which is advantageous for improving the safety of the battery.
[0051] Based on the above, the inventor conducted intensive research in order to improve the processing performance of the current collector, and as a result, by providing a release treatment device, the treatment space of the release treatment device is connected to the pressure relief mechanism of the single cell, and when a substance released by the pressure relief mechanism enters the treatment space, the treatment member treats the released substance to reduce a certain parameter, greatly reducing the possibility of the substance burning, and the substance is less likely to burn even in the event of thermal runaway, which is advantageous in improving the safety of the battery.
[0052] The battery disclosed in the embodiments of the present application may be, but is not limited to, a rechargeable battery, and a rechargeable battery refers to a battery that can be continuously used by activating the active material by charging after discharging the battery. The battery is provided with a pressure relief mechanism, and when the battery experiences thermal runaway, the pressure relief mechanism can release the material inside the battery to realize pressure relief.
[0053] The embodiment of the present application provides a single cell, which is used in a power consuming device such as, but not limited to, a vehicle, a ship, or an aircraft. A power supply system for the power consuming device may be configured using a battery or the like including the single cell disclosed in the present application. In this way, it is advantageous to reduce the possibility of combustion of the exhaust smoke emitted from the battery cell, and the single cell and the battery are unlikely to burn even when the single cell and the battery undergo thermal runaway, which is advantageous to improve the safety of the single cell and the battery.
[0054] An embodiment of the present application provides a power consuming device that uses a battery as a power source, and the power consuming device may be, but is not limited to, a mobile phone, a tablet, a laptop, an electric toy, an electric tool, an electric scooter, an electric car, a boat, a spacecraft, etc. Here, the electric toy may include a stationary or mobile electric toy, such as a game console, an electric car toy, an electric boat toy, an electric plane toy, etc., and the spacecraft may include an airplane, a rocket, a space shuttle, a spacecraft, etc.
[0055] In the following embodiment, for convenience of explanation, a vehicle 1000 is taken as an example of an electric power consuming device in one embodiment of the present application.
[0056] Referring to FIG. 1, FIG. 1 is a structural schematic diagram of a vehicle 1000 according to some embodiments of the present application. The vehicle 1000 may be an engine-driven vehicle, a natural gas vehicle, or a new energy vehicle, and the new energy vehicle may be a pure electric vehicle, a hybrid vehicle, or a range extender type vehicle, etc. A battery 100 is provided inside the vehicle 1000, and the battery 100 may be provided at the bottom, head, or tail of the vehicle 1000. The battery 100 may be used to power the vehicle 1000, for example, the battery 100 may be used as an operating power source for the vehicle 1000. The vehicle 1000 may further include a controller 200 and a motor 300, and the controller 200 is configured to control the battery 100 to supply power to the motor 300, for example, for the startup, navigation, and operating power needs during driving of the vehicle 1000.
[0057] In some embodiments of the present application, the battery 100 may be used not only as an operating power source for the vehicle 1000, but also as a driving power source for the vehicle 1000, providing driving power to the vehicle 1000 in place of or in part from fuel or natural gas.
[0058] Referring to FIG. 2, FIG. 2 is a structural schematic diagram of a battery 100 according to some embodiments of the present application. The battery 100 includes a single cell 20, and the single cell 20 may be multiple. The multiple cells 20 may be connected in series, parallel, or mixed, and the mixed connection refers to the presence of both series and parallel connections among the multiple cells 20. Of course, the battery 100 may be configured such that the multiple cells 20 are first connected in series, parallel, or mixed to form a battery module, and the multiple battery modules are further connected in series, parallel, or mixed to be integrated and housed in a housing. The battery 100 may further include other structures, for example, the battery 100 may further include a bus member for realizing electrical connection between the multiple cells 20.
[0059] Each cell 20 may be a secondary or primary battery, including but not limited to a lithium-sulfur battery, a sodium-ion battery, or a magnesium-ion battery. The cells 20 may be cylindrical, flat, rectangular, or have other shapes.
[0060] Referring to Fig. 3, Fig. 3 is an exploded structural schematic diagram of a cell 20 according to some embodiments of the present application. The cell 20 is the smallest unit constituting a battery. As shown in Fig. 3, the cell 20 includes an end cover 21, a housing 22, a cell assembly 23, a pressure relief mechanism (not shown), and other functional members.
[0061] According to some embodiments of the present application, Fig. 4 is a schematic diagram of a battery according to some embodiments of the present application. The present application provides a battery, the battery includes a cell 1 and an emission treatment device, the cell 1 has a pressure relief mechanism, the pressure relief mechanism is arranged to release a substance inside the cell 1, the emission treatment device includes a treatment space 2, the treatment space 2 is arranged to be in communication with an outer surface of the pressure relief mechanism, the substance released by the pressure relief mechanism can enter the treatment space 2, the emission treatment device further includes a treatment member 3 disposed in the treatment space 2, the treatment member 3 is used to treat the substance to reduce a predetermined parameter in the substance.
[0062] The pressure relief mechanism may refer to a structure provided in the single cell 1, which opens when the single cell 1 experiences thermal runaway and the internal pressure exceeds a predetermined value, thereby releasing substances inside the single cell 1, thereby reducing the internal pressure of the single cell 1 and improving the safety of the single cell 1.
[0063] The processing space 2 refers to a space formed by the discharge processing device, and the processing space 2 is in communication with the outer surface of the pressure relief mechanism, and the material discharged by the pressure relief mechanism can be discharged into the processing space 2. The processing space 2 can function to temporarily accommodate the material. In the battery 100, the processing space 2 may be a space independent of the mounted unit cell 1, or the processing space 2 and the space in which the unit cell 1 is mounted may be set to be the same, in this way, the discharged material can be quickly and timely processed, which is advantageous for improving the safety of the battery.
[0064] The processing member 3 may be a member having a function of processing a substance, and is provided in the processing space 2 to process the substance in the processing space 2 and reduce a predetermined parameter of the substance in the processing space 2.
[0065] According to the above technical solution, the material released from the single battery 1 is treated by the treatment member 3, and a certain parameter of the material is reduced. After the certain parameter of the material is reduced, the possibility of the material burning is greatly reduced, and the battery is less likely to catch fire even in the event of thermal runaway, which is advantageous for improving the safety of the battery.
[0066] In some embodiments of the present application, the predetermined parameter is at least one of a temperature, a combustible particle concentration, or a combustible gas concentration.
[0067] Temperature is the temperature of a substance, and when the temperature of a substance is decreased, the temperature of the substance is lower than the ignition point of the substance, and the substance is less likely to ignite and burn. Combustible particle concentration is the amount of combustible particles contained in a substance per unit volume, and when the combustible particle concentration is decreased, the substance is less likely to burn. Combustible gas concentration is the amount of combustible gas contained in a substance per unit volume, and when the combustible gas concentration is decreased, the substance is less likely to burn. By reducing the above-mentioned predetermined parameters, the possibility of the substance burning can be effectively reduced, and the battery is less likely to ignite, which is advantageous for improving the safety of the battery.
[0068] In some embodiments of the present application, the processing member 3 is disposed in the processing space 2 and includes a spray assembly 31 for spraying processing liquid into the processing space 2, and a liquid supply assembly 32 in communication with the spray assembly 31 for delivering the processing liquid to the spray assembly 31.
[0069] The spray assembly 31 may be an assembled member capable of ejecting the treatment liquid and forming the treatment liquid into fine droplets that are scattered around, and is attached to the treatment space 2 so as to spray the treatment liquid into the treatment space 2, thereby increasing the contact area between the treatment liquid and the material in the treatment space 2, and is advantageous in improving the treatment effect and treatment efficiency of the material by the treatment member 3.
[0070] When the treatment liquid comes into contact with the material, it not only exchanges heat with the material to lower the temperature of the material, but also traps combustible particles in the material in the treatment liquid, thereby lowering the concentration of combustible particles in the material. The treatment liquid may be liquid such as ultrapure water, fluoride liquid, etc., which is highly inert and does not easily react chemically with the material, and is advantageous in improving safety during the use of the treatment liquid, and can quickly vaporize and remove heat from the material after receiving heat. At the same time, the treatment liquid after vaporization can also reduce the concentration of combustible particles or combustible gas in the material.
[0071] The liquid supply assembly 32 can supply the treatment liquid with a constant pressure to the spray assembly 31, so that the treatment liquid can be sprayed at a constant pressure by the spray assembly 31 into the treatment space 2. This is advantageous for enlarging the spray area of the spray assembly 31 and improving the spray uniformity, and the material released from the pressure release mechanism can more easily come into contact with the treatment liquid.
[0072] In some embodiments of the present application, the battery includes a battery box 4, the single cell 1 is placed in the battery box 4, the discharge treatment device further includes a treatment box 5 forming a treatment space 2 therein, the treatment box 5 has an opening communicating with the treatment space 2, and the treatment box 5 is covered on an end face of the battery box 4 via the opening.
[0073] The battery box 4 may have a housing structure in which a storage space is formed, the cell 1 is disposed in the storage space, and the cell 1 can be protected. Preferably, the cell 1 comes into contact with the battery box 4, so that heat exchange can be performed between the cell 1 and the battery box 4. The treatment box 5 may refer to a housing structure surrounding the treatment space 2 in order to accommodate and treat the substance released from the pressure release mechanism. The opening may be a structure provided in the treatment box 5, and the opening structure of the treatment box 5 communicates with the treatment space 2, so that the treatment box 5 can cover the outer end surface of the battery box 4 through the opening.
[0074] In some embodiments of the present application, the opening of the processing box 5 may further be provided with a cover plate 50 that is fixedly connected to the outer end face of the battery box 4 by welding, enabling good heat transfer with the battery box 4.
[0075] With the above structure, the discharge treatment device can be located outside the battery box 4, and the discharge treatment device does not occupy space within the battery box 4, thereby alleviating the shortage of internal space in the battery box 4, improving the proportion of the internal space occupied by the single cells 1, and favoring the improvement of the energy density of the battery.
[0076] In addition, with the above structure, by installing the discharge treatment device outside the battery box 4, it becomes easy to assemble the battery box 4 and the discharge treatment device separately during production, and then assemble the two after each other, which effectively improves the manufacturing efficiency of such products and is advantageous for mass production of the products.
[0077] In some embodiments of the present application, the spray assembly 31 is positioned such that it is directed toward the end surface so as to spray processing liquid toward the end surface.
[0078] By arranging the spray assembly 31 toward the end face, the treatment liquid sprayed from the spray assembly 31 can reach the end face of the battery box 4, and the treatment liquid can exchange heat with the battery box 4. The treatment liquid can remove heat generated during thermal runaway of the single cell 1 and play a role in cooling the single cell 1, which is advantageous in reducing the possibility of danger occurring and improving the safety of the battery.
[0079] According to the above technical solution, the treatment liquid can not only treat the material, but also play the role of cooling the battery, which is advantageous to improving the safety of the battery.
[0080] In some embodiments of the present application, the battery includes a housing having a partition member disposed within the housing, the partition member dividing the housing to form two spaces, one of which is a processing space 2 and the other of which is used to place a single cell 1.
[0081] The housing may refer to a structure in which a storage cavity is formed inside, and may play a role in protecting the members in the storage cavity. The partition member may be a structural member provided in the housing, and may partition the storage cavity in the housing into two spaces, one of which is a processing space 2 and the other is a space for placing the unit cell 1.
