AI Technical Summary
Volatile silicone oils used in existing beauty products can pose an environmental and human health threat, and it is difficult to find alternatives to maintain the volatile properties, viscosity and sensory properties of the product.
A beauty product formula without volatile silicone oil was developed, using branched alkanes, volatile linear alkanes and dimethiconol in the C10-C12 interval to ensure that the product is similar in performance to traditional formulations.
This formula significantly improves hair gloss and softness, makes hair lightweight, easy to care, and has a natural index above 85%, while avoiding the potential harm of volatile silicone oil.
Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present application relates to the cosmetic technical field.
[0002] More specifically, the invention relates to compositions for the cosmetic treatment of keratinous fibers, especially hair.
[0003] The invention also relates to the use of the composition for the care of keratinous fibres, in particular hair, as well as to a method for the cosmetic treatment of keratinous fibres, in which the inventive composition is applied to said fibres.
[0004] As part of this application, some definitions are provided.
[0005] An "alkane" is a saturated hydrocarbon consisting of only carbon and hydrogen atoms linked by single covalent bonds, with the general formula: n H 2n+2 It is.
[0006] A "straight chain alkane" is an alkane in which each carbon atom is bonded to a maximum of two carbon atoms.
[0007] A "branched chain alkane" is an alkane that has any carbon atom bonded to three or four carbon atoms.
[0008] "C x An "alkane" is an alkane of x carbon atoms, which may be linear or branched. For example, n-dodecane is C 12 It is an alkane.
[0009] A "C>x alkane" is an alkane of at least x+1 carbon atoms, which may be linear or branched. For example, n-dodecane is a C>10 linear alkane or a C 12 It is an alkane.
[0010] A "C≦x alkane" is an alkane of at most x carbon atoms or less than x carbon atoms, and may be straight or branched. For example, 2,3,6-trimethylheptane (CAS 4032-93-3) is a C≦10 alkane.
[0011] "C x -C y An "alkane" is an alkane containing between x and y carbon atoms, inclusive. For example, C1-C2 alkanes are methane and ethane.
[0012] An "isoalkane" is a branched alkane that contains at least one carbon atom bonded to at least three carbon atoms, such as a methyl group.
[0013] Generally, a "volatile linear alkane" is a linear alkane having a flash point of 95° C. or less as measured according to the ASTM D93 standard.
[0014] The flash point is the flash point measured according to the ATM D93 standard. The unit of the flash point measured according to the ATM D93 standard is degrees Celsius (°C). In addition, each value is obtained by a measurement method according to the ATM D93 standard, and may be the average value.
[0015] The term "mass percentage" refers to the ratio of the mass of a first compound to the total mass of a mixture or composition of compounds expressed as a percentage. For example, 10 grams of compound y in a mixture z with a total mass of 100 grams would be the mass percentage of y in z of 10%.
[0016] A "biogenic" compound or organic composition is one in which the organic carbon in the compound or composition is determined to be of plant origin ( 14 C) is defined as being.
[0017] An organic compound or composition is one in which the organic carbon in the compound or composition is 100% plant-derived, i.e., the percentage determined by radiocarbon analysis according to any of the following standards: ASTM D6866, EN 16640, or EN 16785-1. 14 C / 12 C or 14 C / 13 It qualifies as biological if its proportions match those of living plant products.
[0018] The "naturalness index" of an organic composition is the percentage of organic carbon of plant origin ( 14 C) percentage.
[0019] In the present invention, the OECD 301F method can assess the biodegradability of a substance by a manometric respiration test.
[0020] The use of volatile silicone oils in cosmetic products is particularly contemplated by those of the formula [Si(CH3)2-O] n (n is between 3 and 7, inclusive), the use of the short-chain cyclic silicone compounds cyclomethicones will disappear. Indeed, their possible harmful effects on the environment and also on human health have been highlighted by several studies since 2005, the date of the first report on the toxicological risk of cyclomethicones D4 and D5 for humans by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency.
[0021] Research is being carried out to identify compounds that could provide satisfactory replacements. These compounds must in particular have similar volatility properties and must allow the preparation of formulations with at least similar properties in terms of viscosity and organoleptic properties (the tendency to spread on the hair and the soft, "smooth", non-greasy feel of the resulting film).
[0022] For this purpose, various compositions have been proposed, in particular comprising alkanes.
[0023] Alkane-based compositions have been developed in the presence of carbonyl, carbonate or ester compounds.
[0024] For example, patent application US2005 / 0079986 proposes the use of mixtures of linear or branched dialkyl carbonates and alkanes, preferably branched and saturated, having from 8 to 40 carbon atoms.
[0025] The use of a combination of neopentyl glycol polyesters, such as neopentyl glycol dipeptanoate, with isoparaffins, such as isododecane, has also been proposed in patent application US 2004 / 0241200. This mixture is sold, inter alia, by the company INOLEX under the registered trademarks LexFeel D4 and D5.
[0026] More recently, ester oils in association with one or more alkanes have been proposed.
[0027] Thus, patent application EP 2 623 088 A2 describes a hair care composition comprising at least one ester oil and at least one isoparaffin selected from the group consisting of isodecane, isoundecane, isotridecane and isotetradecane.
[0028] More recently, patent application DE102017223528A1 proposes a combination of at least one alkane from the group consisting of undecane, dodecane and tridecane and at least one ester oil and crambe abyssinica seed oil.
[0029] The study also highlights the potential of alkane mixtures to reduce or even potentially eliminate the use of volatile silicones in cosmetic products. The alkane mixtures of interest may be complex and may contain several compounds and several types of alkanes, both linear alkanes and branched alkanes.
[0030] For example, in patent application WO2009 / 064790A1, three alkane fractions, C12 -C 14 Isoalkane fraction, C 13 -C 15 Isoalkane fraction and so-called C 13 -C 15 A mixture of alkane mixture fractions in specific ratios is used.
[0031] The term fraction used in the remainder of this application to define different parts of a composition must be understood as a part of the composition. Said parts or fractions combine to define the whole composition. The terms part and fraction can be used interchangeably.
[0032] The above mixture therefore contains three parts or fractions.
[0033] In patent application WO2010 / 115973A1, at least one C 10 -C 12 Normal paraffin and at least one C 14 -C 24 The use of a mixture of alkanes containing normal paraffins has been proposed.
[0034] In patent application WO2019 / 197507A1, at least one C8-C alkane in combination with at least one C≧11 alkane is 10 A mixture of alkanes containing the following alkanes has been used:
[0035] The numerous proposals made regarding the use of alkanes show that it is a real problem to obtain properties at least similar to those obtained with volatile silicone oils.
[0036] Recently, a number of proposals have emerged for the preparation of interesting hair treatment compositions. In particular, patent application DE102018220849A1 discloses the preparation of at least one C9-C 17 In combination with the alkane, two types of aliphatic alcohols, at least one cationic surfactant of the quaternary ammonium type and at least one C2-C8 monohydric alcohol are used.
[0037] More recently, patent application FR3094639A1 describes the use of at least one branched C8-C 16 A combination of an alkane and three different non-volatile silicones has been proposed.
[0038] Therefore, there remains a need for the development of hair compositions that are free of volatile silicone oils and have the properties of interest, for a variety of hair applications.
[0039] Surprisingly, the applicant has identified at least one C 10 -C 12 A hair composition has been developed which contains a branched alkane, at least one volatile linear alkane and at least one dimethiconol, and which has good cosmetic properties despite being free of volatile silicone oils.
[0040] Its properties are comparable to those of compositions containing volatile silicone oils in terms of organoleptic properties, shine, softness, ease of detangling, protection during styling and smoothing without weighing down the hair in any way.
[0041] The composition of the invention allows the conditioning of keratinous fibres in a very satisfactory manner, in particular the lustre and softness of the fibres being significantly improved, the fibres remaining light, supple and non-greasy to the touch and to the eye.
[0042] Taking into account the increased viscosity, compositions can be formulated with fewer non-volatile silicones, thus improving the naturalness of the composition.
[0043] Ease of detangling without making hair weighed down or greasy. Keratin fibers remain light, flexible and easy to style and shape. Keratin fibers do not look or feel greasy and are not squeaky to the touch.

Working Example
[0738] The following examples are provided to illustrate the invention.
[0739] Method for preparing the inventive hair serum formulation
[0740] The ingredients of Phase 1 were dispersed in an Ultra-Turrax®.
[0741] The first, second and third phases were then mixed to obtain the hair serum. Example 1: Composition of the inventive hair serum TIFF2025511916000001.tif52170Table 1 Example 2: Composition of the inventive hair serum TIFF2025511916000002.tif53170Table 2 Example 3: Composition of the inventive hair serum TIFF2025511916000003.tif44170Table 3 Example 4: Composition of the inventive hair serum TIFF2025511916000004.tif56170Table 4 Example 5: Effect of branched alkanes on the viscosity of the inventive composition A composition comprising 20% dimethiconol, 70% Fraction A and 30% Fraction B. The properties of the components and the results of the kinematic viscosity and infrared refractive index measurements are shown in Table 5 below. TIFF2025511916000005.tif31170Table 5
[0742] The viscosity obtained was greater than 1300 cST. This result is surprising and very interesting since viscosity is a fundamental criterion in hair compositions.
[0743] The infrared refractive indices were comparable. Example 6: Sensory evaluation A prior art composition was prepared, identical to the formulation of Example 1, except that trimethylheptane was replaced with n-decane. TIFF2025511916000006.tif42170Table 6
[0744] The compositions of Example 1 and the prior art described above were applied to sensitized Caucasian hair tresses at a rate of 0.1 g of composition per gram of hair.
[0745] Each tress was then subjected to a sensory evaluation of shine by three experts.
[0746] The tresses treated with the inventive composition had better gloss levels than the tresses treated with the prior art composition.
[0747] They also felt smoother and less greasy than tresses treated with the prior art composition.
