Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a modular charging device for charging so-called electric plug-in vehicles or hybrid vehicles, and a method for managing the distribution of current by means of the aforementioned modular charging device.
[0002] Generally, the present invention belongs to the field of electric mobility, and in particular, to the field of charging systems for electric or hybrid plug-in vehicles.
Background Art
[0003] The electric vehicle market (automobiles, motorcycles, scooters, bicycles) is growing continuously. The most advanced economies are actively planning and supporting an ecological transition to overcome or limit combustion engines.
[0004] Therefore, there is an increasing demand for charging points for electric vehicles that make it possible to use such mobility systems more efficiently and thus increase their spread.
[0005] In particular, there is currently a strong need to arrange a large number of charging points that may be suitable for quickly and efficiently supplying the electric power required for vehicle charging.
[0006] At the same time, it is desirable to arrange a system that enables charging of a plurality of vehicles in a limited space such as a public or condominium parking lot.
[0007] Known systems require the installation of charging columns, and each charging column is individually connected to the power grid by a cable harness having a cable connecting each charging column to a switchboard.
[0008] Such a solution is generally installed in a wall box or column box fixed to the ground and includes an EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) controller with a socket or cable with pins.
[0009] Unfortunately, while such solutions are being implemented, they do not allow for the implementation of additional charging stations or the removal of functions over time without intervening in the heart of the system, i.e., the system layout, and they limit the possibility of repairing and maintaining the charging stations themselves.
[0010] Unfortunately, in known charging systems, if there is a desire to increase the number of charging columns or move the charging columns, it is necessary to perform heavy and expensive auxiliary maintenance work such as excavation, construction work, and especially cable wiring.
[0011] Furthermore, due to further drawbacks, current charging systems are not very efficient and are difficult to scale up.
[0012] U.S. Patent Application Publication No. 2017 / 129353, Chinese Patent Application Publication No. 210363426, British Patent Application Publication No. 1413178, European Patent Application Publication No. 1950850, U.S. Patent Application Publication No. 2020 / 328604, Chinese Patent Application Publication No. 112224083, U.S. Patent Application Publication No. 2022 / 134901, International Publication No. 2010 / 120551, U.S. Patent Application Publication No. 2022 / 242262, International Publication No. 2019 / 147557 disclose specific charging systems and methods related to the problem of transmitting current and charge of vehicles. The solutions described in such documents do not solve the technical problems addressed by the present invention.
[0013] In particular, the aforementioned documents describe solutions with reduced flexibility and do not allow for managing the real-time distribution of current in a modular system.
[0014] The biggest drawback of prior art systems is that it is impossible to insert new charging points, new columns later without reinstalling the electrical components described above. That is, the addition of future columns represents an actual additional project for what already exists and is not a simple expansion of the installation base.

Summary of the Invention
Problems to be Solved by the Invention
[0016] Therefore, there is a strong need to provide a modular charging device and a current distribution management method that can overcome typical drawbacks of the prior art.
[0017] In particular, an object of the present invention is to provide a modular charging device that is easier to construct and manufacture and more versatile for known systems.
Means for Solving the Problems
[0018] A further object of the present invention is to provide a modular charging device having a layout that can be expanded, reduced or modified as required, without the need for additional electrical supply components to be implemented, further excavation and construction work, in particular further installation of cable wiring.
[0019] A further object of the present invention is to provide an effective and adaptable management method according to the available power, which in particular recognizes the scalability of the system and enables its effective management.
[0020] Such a need is satisfied by a modular charging device, an installation, expansion and reduction method, a charging method and a current distribution management method according to the appended independent claims. The dependent patent claims describe preferred or advantageous embodiments of the present invention, including further advantageous aspects.

[0037] Preferably, the first and / or second conductor bars 24, 26 are made of a metal, such as aluminum or copper.
[0038] Preferably, the first conductor bar 24 and / or the second conductor bar 26 are obtained by extrusion.
[0039] The conductor bars 24, 26 are preferably parallel to each other in the longitudinal extension direction X.
[0040] According to one embodiment, the conductor bars 24, 26 are made to a predetermined length, preferably 2 meters, preferably 3 meters.
[0041] Preferably, the conductor bars 24, 26 can be made in various lengths according to the application and transportation requirements. For example, the conductor bars are made to a length suitable for storage in containers and means of transportation having standard dimensions.
[0042] Advantageously, the modular charging device is scalable and allows for easy transportation of its components.
[0043] Preferably, the modular charging device 1 includes a number of charging boxes 3 connected to the conductor bars 24, 26 by the connection plugs 32.
[0044] Advantageously, the modular charging device is suitable for receiving a plurality of electrically connected charging boxes, and such charging boxes can be arranged at various points along the longitudinal extension of the conductor bars 24, 26.
[0045] Advantageously, the charging box 3 can be connected to the conductor bars 24, 26 at any point along its longitudinal extension in the longitudinal extension direction X.
[0046] In one embodiment, the modular charging device 1 includes a second bar module 12 adjacent to the first bar module 11 in the longitudinal extension direction X. Preferably, the modular charging device 1 includes a plurality of successive second bar modules 12, preferably adjacent to each other.
[0047] The second bar module 12 includes a second conductor bar 26. An example of an open second bar module is shown in FIG. 18.
[0048] In one embodiment, for example, as shown in FIGS. 5, 6, and 10, the modular charging device 1 includes electrical connection means 6 for electrically interconnecting the second conductor bar 26 to the first conductor bar 24 to allow current to pass through.
[0049] It is clear that the description of the present disclosure regarding the connection between the first bar module and the second bar module also applies to the connection between the first bar module or the second bar module and a further additional bar module.
[0050] For example, in one embodiment, the modular charging device includes five bar modules, and each bar module is mechanically and electrically connected to an adjacent bar module according to what has been described for the connection between the first bar module and the second bar module.
[0051] In one embodiment, the first conductor bar 24 includes a first connection end 240, and the second conductor bar 26 includes a second connection end 260.
[0052] Preferably, such connection ends 240, 260 are suitable for facing each other in the connection step between the first bar module 11 and the second bar module 12.
[0053] In one embodiment, the electrical connection means 6 includes at least one isolator element 62 and at least one bonding element 64, as shown in FIGS. 6, 7, 8, and 9, for example.
[0054] An arrangement sheet 621 suitable for receiving the conductor bars 24, 26 at the first connection end 240 and the second connection end 260 while keeping them spaced apart from each other is obtained in the at least one isolator element 62.
[0055] Preferably, the bar seat 621 is a groove or a prismatic recess and is equal in number to the number of conductor bars of each module. Preferably, the bar seat is four parallel grooves in the longitudinal extension direction X.
[0056] The at least one joining element 64 includes a joining conductor bar 642 suitable for being inserted into a bar seat 621 that at least partially overlaps with the first conductor bar 24 and the second conductor bar 26 at the first connection end portion 240 and the second connection end portion 260.
[0057] The joining bar 642 is suitable for generating contact and force coupling with the first conductor bar 24 and the second conductor bar 26 in order to ensure good electrical contact.
[0058] The isolator element is preferably made of a self-extinguishing plastic material.
[0059] Advantageously, the modular charging device 1 can be extended in the longitudinal extension direction X by the simple and intuitive subsequent connection of a plurality of consecutive bar modules.
[0060] Thereby, it is possible to avoid the expensive excavation, installation, cable wiring, construction work, and maintenance work required to expand the charging system for vehicles according to the prior art.
[0061] Preferably, the number of joining bars 642 is the same as the number of conductor bars of each bar module.
[0062] In an advantageous embodiment, the conductor bars 24, 26 have a trapezoidal cross-section on a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal extension direction X.
[0063] Preferably, the cross-section is in the shape of an isosceles trapezoid.
[0064] Alternatively, the cross-section is in the shape of a rectangular trapezoid.
[0065] Preferably, the secondary base of the trapezoid faces forward of the user, i.e., the modular charging device.
[0066] In one embodiment, the joining bar 642 has a trapezoidal cross-section, preferably in the shape of an isosceles triangle or a rectangular trapezoid, on a plane orthogonal to the longitudinal extension direction X.
[0067] In an advantageous embodiment, the cross-section of the joining bar 642 mirrors the cross-sections of the first and second conductor bars 24, 26, so that in the overlap between the joining bar 642 and the first and second conductor bars 24, 26, a geometric force coupling is generated between planes inclined at different inclinations therebetween.
[0068] The term "mirror" means that the joining bar 642 is shaped in the mounting step so as to face the short base of the trapezoid of the cross-section of the conductor bar towards the short base of the trapezoid of its cross-section.
[0069] In other words, the trapezoidal portions of the joining bar 642 and the conductor bars 24, 26 are inverted, i.e., under the mounting conditions, the conductor bars 24, 26 and the joining bar 642 overlap and "in the ramp", an optimal pressure contact occurs.
[0070] Advantageously, the above-mentioned trapezoidal portion utilizes a so-called "wedge" insertion that generates pressure to ensure an optimal electrical connection. Such an embodiment makes it possible to obtain an electrical connection while avoiding the use of elastic elements that may impair the quality of the contact in the long term.
[0071] In a preferred embodiment, the cross-section of the joining bar 642 has rounded edges to facilitate sliding of the joining bar 642 on the conductor bars 24, 26.
[0072] In one embodiment, the conductor bars 24, 26 also have a cross-section with rounded edges.
[0073] In one embodiment, the bonding element 64 includes a closing plate 641 made of an insulating material, preferably a self-extinguishing insulating material, and the closing plate includes an insulating prism portion 640 that protrudes from the closing plate 641 and includes a bar sheet to which the bonding conductor bar 642 is engaged.
[0074] The prism portion 640 preferably extends preferentially in a direction orthogonal to the bonding bar 642. The prism portion functions to keep the connection ends 240 and 260 longitudinally spaced apart from each other.
[0075] In one embodiment, the isolator element 62 has a prismatic coupling sheet 620 that geometrically engages with the prism portion 640 of the bonding element 64.
[0076] In other words, the isolator element 62 is a support base that receives the conductor bars 24 and 26 from the rear (i.e., on the side of the trapezoidal main bottom surface in one embodiment) and keeps them parallel and spaced apart from each other, and the bonding element 64 is a bonding bar suitable for functioning as a bridge for the passage of current between the first conductor bar 24 and the second conductor bar 26, and thus a cover provided with the conductor bars.
[0077] Preferably, when attached, the bonding element 64 is firmly fastened to the isolator element by an external fastener such as a screw or a pin.
[0078] Preferably, the bonding conductor bars 642 are engaged with the bar sheet of the prism portion 640 so as to protrude therefrom at intervals.
[0079] Preferably, the closing plate 641 and the prism portion 640 are made of a self-extinguishing plastic material.
[0080] Preferably, the bonding bars are made of aluminum or copper. Preferably, they are sections of the conductor bars. Preferably, they are parts of metal extrusions.
[0081] In one embodiment, at least one of the first bar module 11 and the second bar module 12 includes an isolator 7 made of an insulating material, and the insulating material is suitable for separating the first conductor bar 24 and / or the second conductor bar 26 from each other for their extension in the longitudinal extension direction X and keeping them substantially parallel.
[0082] Preferably, both the first bar module 11 and the second bar module 12 include the isolator 7 as shown in the embodiments of FIGS. 5 and 11, for example.
[0083] In one embodiment, the bar modules 11, 12 include a series of isolators 7 arranged at a preset distance equal to each other.
[0084] In one embodiment, each of the isolators 7 includes a first rear isolator portion 71 and a second front isolator portion 72.
[0085] Each of such first and second isolator portions 71, 72 has grooves 710, 720 having a dominant extension parallel to the longitudinal extension direction X, respectively.
[0086] The first isolator portion 71 and the second isolator portion 72 are engageable (engageable) with each other such that the respective grooves 710, 720 coincide to form a sheet suitable for engaging with the first conductor bar 24 and / or the second conductor bar 26 by shape coupling.
[0087] Preferably, the sheet has a trapezoidal cross-section, and even more preferably, an isosceles trapezoidal or rectangular trapezoidal cross-section.
[0088] In other words, the grooves coincide by the engagement between the isolator portions and form a sheet having a cross-section on a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal extension direction X so as to receive and block the conductor bars 24, 26.
[0089] Preferably, the first isolator portion 71 can be fastened to the second isolator portion 72 by pins or screws.
[0090] In one embodiment, at least one of the first bar module 11 and the second bar module 12 includes casings 21, 22 that surround the first conductor bar 24 and / or the second conductor bar 26. The casings are shown, for example, in the embodiments of FIGS. 18 and 20.

[0096] According to an advantage of the present invention, the socket sheet can be obtained at any point of the longitudinal extension of the casings 21, 22 in the longitudinal extension direction X, as shown in FIG. 20.
[0097] Advantageously, the use of the conductor bar enables the provision of a sheet (and socket) for connecting the charging box at any point along the longitudinal extension of the modular charging device.
[0098] This increases the flexibility of the modular charging device, enabling the user to easily change the installation layout of the modular charging device as needed.
[0099] In the present disclosure, the terms "front" or "front face" or "front portion" mean, in the modular device, the components on the side of the conductor bar that is on the user's side, i.e., the side of the intended path for attaching the charging box. Conversely, the terms "rear" or "rear portion" mean, in the modular device, the components on the side of the conductor bar that is opposite to the user, e.g., facing the wall on which the track is installed.
[0100] In an advantageous embodiment, the casings 21, 22 include, for example, rear contours 211, 221 suitable for fastening to a wall or pedestal or support structure 950, and front contours 212, 222 suitable for facing the user.
[0101] Such rear contours 211, 221 and such front contours 212, 222 are engaged with each other and preferably geometrically joined by snap connection to form the casings 21, 22, thereby housing the first conductor bar 24 and / or the second conductor bar 26 and forming, for example, an airtight casing.
[0102] In one embodiment, the isolator element 62 is fastened to the rear contours 211, 221 of the casings 21, 22. Thereby, the isolator element functions as a support element for the conductor bars 24, 26.
[0103] In an advantageous embodiment, the rear contours 211, 221 are metal section bars having a "C"-shaped cross-section on a plane orthogonal to the longitudinal extension direction X.
[0104] Advantageously, such embodiments provide a seal that is optimal for the casing with respect to humidity, in accordance with current laws.
[0105] Preferably, the rear profiles 211, 221 have snap - coupling portions, and the front profiles 212, 222 have counter - snap - coupling portions that can engage with the snap - coupling portions.
[0106] Preferably, the front profiles 212, 222 are substantially flat covers.
[0107] In an advantageous embodiment, the socket sheet is obtained at the front profiles 212, 222.
[0108] In one embodiment, referring to FIGS. 15 and 17, the isolator 7 includes one or more load - bearing isolators 701 that are at least partially fixed to the casings 21, 22 so as to support and suspend the first and second conductor bars 24, 26 and keep them integral with the casings 21, 22.

[0110] Even more preferably, it is the second isolator part 72 that is fastened to the front profiles 212, 222. Preferably, the fastening is by snap - coupling, bayonet - coupling, adhesion or screw fastening.
[0111] Such embodiments advantageously enable "pre - making" a part of a modular charging device that includes at least the front profile of the casing and the conductor bar supported by the load - bearing isolator, and enable minimizing on - site installation operations for lengthening the modular charging device. The on - site installation only includes the electrical coupling between an additional bar module and an already installed bar module by means of the electrical connection described above, and in some cases fastening the front profile to the rear profile of the casing.
