[0322] Example 4 - Consumer Test Results A study was conducted comparing the formulation prepared in Example 3 to a placebo (KooL-Aid). A blinded study was conducted in which one group of subjects received the shot of Example 3 and the other group received Kool-Aid. Participants completed a cognitively demanding task immediately after ingestion and were assessed for up to 90 minutes after ingestion to assess the following:

[0323] The following elements were evaluated: Cognitive speed: The subjects were tested to assess immediate and delayed word recognition using the COMPASS tool. Results were based on z-scores. The results showed that the formulation of Example 3 exerted a significant effect compared to placebo, improving cognitive speed in subjects taking Example 3 compared to placebo during a high-stress task for up to 1.5 hours after intake (Figure 1). The subjects were also tested to assess cognitive speed based on a numerical working memory (NWM) test. It was found that Example 3 resulted in a doubling of speed in the memory task by up to 35 milliseconds (Figure 2). Cognitive Accuracy: Participants were tested using the Rapid Visual Information Processing (RVIP), a test in which one number is displayed per second for five minutes and users must respond when three consecutive odd or even numbers appear. This is the most demanding test in the cognitive function test battery. The RVIP demonstrated significant benefit for the Example 3 formulation compared to placebo (Figure 4). Figure 3 also shows improved cognitive accuracy z-score results for Example 3; note that accuracy decreased over time for placebo, but peaked at approximately 40 minutes for Example 3. Subjective mood states: Users were tasked with a cognitively demanding task designed to induce fatigue. Self-reported fatigue was minimal in participants who took the oral formulation of Example 3 (main effect in the Profile of Mood States (POMS)). Subjective positive and negative mood states were measured using the POMS-SF (Profile of Mood States). Example 3 was found to maintain positive mood, reducing the decline in positive mood states during the demanding task compared to placebo (Figure 5). There was no increase in negative mood states with Example 3, compared to a slight increase with placebo (Figure 5). Total mood disturbance scores were lower (Figure 6), and mental fatigue during the task was reduced (Figure 7). Therefore, users of Example 3 were shown to be able to concentrate better than those taking placebo. Overstimulation: Stimulation sensation was measured using a VAS, with users rating their perceived level of stimulation on a scale ranging from "not stimulating enough" to "too stimulating." While no overstimulation was reported by users of Example 3, users reported significantly higher levels of stimulation compared to placebo. Thus, Example 3 improved cognitive function and mood without the perception of overstimulation (Figure 8).

Subjective negative mood states: Example 3 found that negative mood did not increase and mood was maintained during the high-stress task, whereas placebo and Liquid Focus users reported an increase in negative mood states. Global mood disturbance: Example 3 was found to maintain mood during high-stress tasks (Figure 11). Overstimulation: Example 3 demonstrated improved cognitive function and mood without causing overstimulation. Fewer users reported overstimulation after taking Example 3 compared to taking Liquid Focus. That said, Example 3 did cause a higher overall stimulation compared to placebo without overstimulation. Users did not report feeling more irritable with Example 3 than with placebo, and more users reported irritability with Liquid Focus.
