Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a pest control composition.
Background Art
[0002] For the control of sanitary pests that transmit various pathogens to humans and livestock such as mosquitoes and mites, agricultural pests that damage crops in fields such as thrips, aphids, and flea beetles, or transmit viruses that become pathogens of crops, or horticultural pests, various synthetic insecticides such as pyrethroid-based, organophosphorus-based insecticides, and carbamate-based insecticides are often used.
[0003] On the other hand, pest control agents for controlling pests without relying on these synthetic insecticides are known. For example, in Patent Document 1, a flying pest control composition that contains a predetermined amount of a wing wetting agent that satisfies predetermined requirements and is used by spraying as droplets having a predetermined average particle size is disclosed to have high safety for the human body and the environment and to be able to efficiently control by reducing the flying ability of flying pests. In Patent Document 2, a flying pest control composition that contains at least one compound selected from a predetermined surfactant, an organic acid, and an organic acid salt, and water, and is used by spraying on flying pests is disclosed to have high safety for the human body and the environment and to be excellent in insecticidal properties.

Summary of the Invention
Problems to be Solved by the Invention
[0005] However, the present inventors have found that the pest control compositions disclosed in Patent Documents 1 and 2 still have room for improvement in that, when used by spraying indoors, it takes a long time for the sprayed material that falls onto floor surfaces such as tiles to dry, and the dried residue of the sprayed material impairs the appearance of the floor surface. The present invention relates to providing a pest control composition that dries quickly, leaves little drying residue, and has excellent pest control properties. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] The inventors have found that a pest control composition containing a specific anionic surfactant, one or more components selected from the group consisting of nonionic surfactants and oily components, and water, and satisfying predetermined requirements, can solve the above problems. Furthermore, they have found that this pest control composition is less prone to clouding or precipitation and is very favorable in terms of composition stability.
[0007] In other words, the present invention relates to the following. [1] Ingredient (A): Salt-resistant anionic surfactant, Component (B): One or more selected from the group consisting of nonionic surfactants (b11) and oily components (b12), and Ingredient (C): water, A pest control composition containing, A pest control composition in which, when X is the number of moles of monovalent metal ions in the composition and A is the number of moles of component (A), the molar ratio X / A is 1.2 or more and 15 or less. [2] A pest control spray comprising filling a spray container or spraying device with the pest control composition described in [1]. [3] A method for controlling pests, comprising the step of bringing the pest control composition described in [1] into contact with pests. [4] Ingredient (A): Salt-resistant anionic surfactant, Component (B): One or more selected from the group consisting of nonionic surfactants (b11) and oily components (b12), and Ingredient (C): water, A composition containing, Use of a composition as a pest control composition, wherein the molar ratio X / A is 1.2 or more and 15 or less, when X is the number of moles of monovalent metal ions in the composition and A is the number of moles of component (A). [Effects of the Invention]
[0008] According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a pest control composition that dries quickly, leaves little drying residue, and has excellent pest control properties. [Brief explanation of the drawing]
[0009] [Figure 1] This is a schematic diagram illustrating the method for evaluating the knockdown rate of mosquitoes in the example. [Modes for carrying out the invention]
[0010] [Definition] In this specification, "pest control composition" means a composition that can prevent and reduce damage caused by pests. Pests will be described later. In this specification, "pest control" means a state in which, after applying the composition to the pest, the pest is at least unable to move (knocked down). "Movement" here includes flight. In this specification, pest control efficacy is evaluated by the knockdown rate after application of the composition to pests. The knockdown rate can be specifically evaluated by the method described in the examples. In this specification, "fast drying of a composition" means that the drying time until the liquid portion of the composition that has fallen onto a floor surface such as tiles disappears due to evaporation is short, and this can be specifically evaluated by the method described in the examples. In this specification, "low drying residue of a composition" means that there is little residue and white residue after the composition has been dried, and this can be specifically evaluated by the method described in the examples. In the present specification, excellent stability of the composition means that clouding of the composition, precipitation of compounding components in the composition, etc. are unlikely to occur, and specifically, it can be evaluated by the method described in the examples.
[0011] [Pest control composition] The pest control composition of the present invention is Component (A): a salt-tolerant anionic surfactant, Component (B): one or more selected from the group consisting of a nonionic surfactant (b11) and an oily component (b12), and Component (C): water, A pest control composition containing When the number of moles of monovalent metal ions in the composition is X and the number of moles of component (A) is A, the pest control composition has a molar ratio X / A of 1.2 or more and 15 or less. The pest control composition of the present invention (hereinafter, also simply referred to as “(the present invention's) composition”) has the above configuration, and thus has a fast drying speed, few drying residues, and excellent pest control properties.
[0012] The reason why the composition of the present invention exhibits the above effects is not clear, but it is considered as follows. The composition of the present invention contains component (A) and component (B) as active ingredients for pest control. By using components (A) and (B) in combination, the thickness of the thin film composed of the composition formed on the floor surface such as tiles of the obtained composition becomes thinner. Thereby, it is considered that the drying speed of the composition is improved. Furthermore, when the molar ratio X / A is a predetermined value or more, aggregation of the thin film composed of the composition over time into a thick film or droplets is suppressed, so it is considered that the drying speed of the composition is further improved. Also, when the molar ratio X / A is a predetermined value or less, it is considered that generation of drying residues due to easy precipitation of the monovalent metal salt can be suppressed.
[0013] In addition, when the molar number X of the monovalent metal ions in the composition increases, the electrostatic repulsion between the hydrophilic groups of the anionic surfactants is suppressed, making it easier to generate water-insoluble hydrated solids, and the stability of the composition tends to decrease. In contrast, since component (A) is salt-tolerant and the dissolution of component (A) in the composition is promoted by using a predetermined component (B) in combination, it is considered that the stability of the composition is also improved.
[0014] In the present invention, the "pests" mainly include insects that harm humans, livestock, their living spaces, as well as agricultural crops or horticultural plants. Specific examples of pests include sanitary pests such as mosquitoes, midges, flies, bugs, fleas, cockroaches, and mites; unpleasant pests such as bees, ants, stink bugs, ladybugs, spiders, earwigs, centipedes, and grasshoppers; and agricultural pests such as locusts, cicadas, leafhoppers, rice borers, thrips, beetles, squash bugs, aphids, caterpillars, and tuber moths. Among these, the composition of the present invention is particularly excellent in the control effect against mosquitoes, midges, flies, bugs, fleas, cockroaches, stink bugs, thrips, beetles, squash bugs, and aphids. In this example, the pest control property of the composition is evaluated by the knockdown rate of mosquitoes (Aedes albopictus), but the pests targeted for control by the composition of the present invention are not limited to mosquitoes.
[0015] <Component (A): Salt-tolerant anionic surfactant> Component (A) is a salt-tolerant anionic surfactant. In addition, it may be determined that it is clear when the turbidity (OD600) at a wavelength of 600 nm of the solution is not more than 0.05. Specifically, the OD value can be measured by the method described in the examples.

[0054] <Insecticide ingredients> From the viewpoint of safety for humans and the environment, the composition of the present invention preferably contains a low amount of insecticidal components. The composition of the present invention uses components (A) and (B) as active ingredients for controlling pests, and it is possible to create a composition with high pest control effect even without containing known insecticidal components. Examples of the insecticidal component include known insecticidal components other than surfactants, acaricidal components, etc.
[0055] Examples of insecticidal components mentioned here include pyrethroid insecticides, organophosphate insecticides, and carbamate insecticides. Examples of pyrethroid insecticides include metofluthrin, dl,d-T80-allethrin, phthalthrin, d-T80-phthalthrin, d,d-T80-prallethrin, d,d-T98-prallethrin, d-T80-resmethrin, transfluthrin, imiprothrin, cyphenothrin, d,dT-cyphenothrin, empenthrin, permethrin, phenothrin, etofenprox, and pyrethrin. Other insecticidal components besides pyrethroid insecticides include, for example, organophosphate insecticides such as fenitrothion and malathion, carbamate insecticides such as propoxur and carbaryl, acaricides such as kelthane, quinomethionate and hexathiazox, and neonicotinoid insecticides such as imidacloprid, dinotefuran and clothiadinine.
[0056] The content of the insecticidal component in the composition of the present invention is specifically less than 1% by mass, preferably 0.1% by mass or less, more preferably 0.01% by mass or less, even more preferably 0.001% by mass or less, and even more preferably substantially 0% by mass.
[0057] From the viewpoint of improving pest control effectiveness, the composition of the present invention preferably contains a low amount of one or more volatile components selected from the group consisting of ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, ethylene glycol monoisopropyl ether, ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, propylene glycol monomethyl ether, diethylene glycol monomethyl ether, and diethylene glycol monoethyl ether. The content of volatile components in the composition of the present invention is specifically less than 20% by mass, preferably 15% by mass or less, more preferably 10% by mass or less, even more preferably 7% by mass or less, even more preferably 4% by mass or less, even more preferably 2% by mass or less, even more preferably 0.8% by mass or less, even more preferably 0.08% by mass or less, and even more preferably substantially 0% by mass.
[0058] The method for producing the pest control composition is not particularly limited. For example, it can be produced by blending the above components (A) to (C), as well as component (D) and other components as needed, and mixing them using a known stirring device or the like.
[0059] <Dosage Form> A preferred dosage form of the composition of the present invention is a liquid formulation that is liquid at 25°C.
[0060] [Pest control spray] The present invention provides a pest control spray, which is obtained by filling a spray container or spraying device with the aforementioned pest control composition.
[0061] <Spray container> The spray container used for pest control sprays is not particularly limited as long as it can be filled with the aforementioned liquid formulation and dispensed in the form of droplets or mist. The droplets or mist may contain foam (foam particles). Examples of spray containers include aerosol containers filled with a propellant such as compressed gas, and non-compressible spray containers that do not require a propellant. However, from the viewpoint of improving pest control effectiveness, non-compressible spray containers that maintain atmospheric pressure inside the container are preferred. As for non-compressible spray containers, from the viewpoint of improving pest control performance, extrusion-type spray containers are preferred, more preferably trigger-type spray containers, and even more preferably pressurized trigger-type spray containers. Pressurized spray containers generally have a structure in which a piston slides against a cylinder housed inside the container, causing the liquid in the cylinder to exceed a certain pressure to be ejected from the nozzle. In other words, since the liquid is discharged to the outside of the container only when the liquid pressure inside the cylinder exceeds a certain pressure, it is advantageous in terms of controlling the particle size of the discharged liquid droplets. An example of a pressurized trigger spray container is the container described in Japanese Patent Publication No. 2017-226474. There are no particular restrictions on the capacity of the spray container, but from the standpoint of dispensing it towards the target object, it should be, for example, between 50 mL and 2 L.
[0062] <Spray device> The spraying device used for pest control sprays can be any device capable of dispensing the aforementioned liquid formulation of the composition in the form of droplets or mist, and this includes spraying devices. The spraying device preferably comprises a container or tank for containing the composition (liquid formulation) of the present invention, a spray mechanism for spraying the composition, and a discharge port for discharging the composition. The spray mechanism has a flow path communicating with the composition (liquid formulation) contained in the container, and the composition sent from the flow path is pressurized by a piston or the like and sent through a narrowed opening or flow path to the discharge opening, thereby being discharged in the form of droplets or mist. The discharge port may be part of the spray mechanism, or it may be a separate structure as long as it is in communication with the spray mechanism. The methods for pressurizing the composition in a spray mechanism include a compression type using a propellant such as compressed gas, and a non-compression type using a piston (including a plunger). From the viewpoint of improving pest control effectiveness, the non-compression type is preferred. Among non-compression types, a pressurized type is more preferred from the viewpoint of making the spray particles finer, in which a certain amount of the pressurized composition is stored before the discharge port.
[0063] Examples of spraying devices include handheld types that can be held by hand, and small, mobile types such as drones. In both cases, it is preferable that the discharge channel, just before the opening at the discharge port, is directed toward the pests. The discharge port is preferably equipped with a cylindrical discharge channel, and the inner diameter of the discharge channel is preferably 0.1 mm to 1 mm, more preferably 0.2 mm to 0.8 mm, and even more preferably 0.3 mm to 0.6 mm.
[0064] Examples of handheld sprayers include trigger sprayers and push-type sprayers, in which spraying is performed by pulling a trigger or pressing a push button. A handheld sprayer performs one spray by pulling the trigger in the case of a trigger sprayer, or by pressing the push button in the case of a push-type sprayer. From the viewpoint of using a handheld sprayer held in the hand, it is preferable that the handheld sprayer is of the trigger sprayer or push-type, and from the viewpoint of ease of one spray operation and repetition, it is preferable that it is of the trigger sprayer. Furthermore, from the viewpoint of dispensing while held in the hand, it is preferable that the discharge port of the handheld sprayer is located on the side when held in the hand, and that the discharge flow path is formed facing laterally.
[0065] For small, mobile spraying devices such as drones, the discharge port may open and spray during flight when a switch is turned on, or it may be equipped with various known spraying mechanisms. Small, mobile spraying devices may be mounted on small airplanes as well as other means of transport such as drones. From the viewpoint of spraying towards an object during flight, it is preferable that the discharge port opening of the small, mobile spraying device is located on the downward side.
[0066] In a spraying device, the container or tank holding the composition is typically made of plastic, and in a handheld spraying device, a tube such as a dip tube is inserted into the container or tank to deliver the composition to the spray mechanism. When the trigger is pulled or the push button is pressed, the composition in the cylinder area of the piston or plunger is pressurized and sprayed to the outlet, and when the pulled trigger or push button is released, the cylinder area expands and the composition is drawn from the container or tank into the cylinder via the tube. The capacity of the container or tank containing the composition is not particularly limited, but from the viewpoint of spraying it towards pests, it is, for example, greater than 2L and less than or equal to 100L.
[0067] The nozzle diameter (discharge port diameter) of the spray container or spraying device is preferably 0.1 mm or more, more preferably 0.3 mm or more, from the viewpoint of improving pest control performance, uniformity of spraying of the composition, and spray area. Similarly, it is preferably 2.0 mm or less, more preferably 1.5 mm or less, and even more preferably 1.0 mm or less. The "nozzle diameter of the spray container" refers to the maximum diameter of the inner diameter of the tip of the spray nozzle of the spray container. The shape of the discharge port is not particularly limited, but a circular or elliptical shape is preferred.
[0068] From the viewpoint of improving pest control effectiveness, the amount of composition discharged from the spray container or spraying device is preferably 0.2 g / discharge or more, more preferably 0.5 g / discharge or more, and even more preferably 0.7 g / discharge or more, and from the same viewpoint, preferably 4.0 g / discharge or less, more preferably 2.0 g / discharge or less, even more preferably 1.8 g / discharge or less, and even more preferably 1.5 g / discharge or less.
[0069] [Pest control methods] The present invention further provides a method for controlling pests (hereinafter also referred to as "the method of the present invention") which includes the step of bringing the pest control composition of the present invention into contact with pests. A method for bringing the composition of the present invention into contact with pests includes discharging the composition of the present invention onto pests, or onto a space or object where pests are present. For example, this method involves filling a spray container or spraying device with the pest control composition to prepare a spray agent, and then spraying or scattering the composition by directing the discharge port of the spray container or spraying device towards the target object. Preferred embodiments, such as the amount of composition discharged by the spray container or spraying device, are as described above.

[Examples]
[0076] The present invention will be described below with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to the scope of these examples. In these examples, various evaluations and measurements were performed by the following methods.
[0077] (OD value) At 25°C, the anionic surfactant used in each example was dissolved or dispersed in a 0.075% by mass NaCl aqueous solution to a concentration of 0.5% by mass to obtain the measurement sample. The obtained sample was packed into a Kartell disposable cell (model 1937, made of polystyrene, optical path length 10 mm, optical path width 10 mm), and the OD value at a wavelength of 600 nm was measured using an Eppendorf biospectrometer.
[0078] (X: number of moles of monovalent metal ions in the composition, A: total number of moles of component (A) in the composition) The number of moles X of monovalent metal ions and the total number of moles A of component (A) in each example of the pest control composition were calculated from the molecular weight and amount of each component incorporated into the composition.
[0079] (Drying time) Each example of the pest control composition was filled into a Maruemu Co., Ltd. "PP Spray Vial No. 6". An Indonesian ceramic tile (size: 45cm x 45cm, surface water contact angle: approximately 40°) was placed on the floor, and one spray (approximately 0.09g) of the composition was sprayed onto the tile surface from a spray nozzle located 15cm vertically above the tile surface. The mixture was left to stand at 25°C and 50% RH, and the time until the sprayed composition stopped volatilizing was visually observed and is shown in the table as drying time (minutes). A smaller value indicates a faster drying rate of the composition.
[0080] (Difference in drying time) Table 1 shows the drying time (minutes) for Comparative Example 1 or Comparative Example 3 containing only the corresponding component (A), while Tables 2 and 3 show the difference between the drying time of Comparative Example 3 and the comparative example. A smaller value indicates a greater reduction in drying time.
[0081] (Appearance of the tiles after drying) After measuring the "drying time" described above, the appearance of the ceramic tiles was visually observed and evaluated according to the following criteria. A: No dried residue, or only a small amount of dried residue, with almost no white residue. B: White residue due to dried residue is observed, but it is within acceptable limits. C: There is a lot of white residue due to dried residue.
[0082] (Appearance at room temperature (25℃)) Approximately 100 mL of each pest control composition was filled into AS ONE's Labran screw-cap bottle No. 8 (110 mL capacity glass bottle, mouth diameter × body diameter × height (mm) = 20.3 × 40 × 120), and after being stored at room temperature (25°C) for 1 hour, its appearance was visually observed. Those that were clear and transparent were evaluated as "A," and those showing turbidity, precipitation, or sedimentation were evaluated as "C."
[0083] (Knockdown rate after 5 minutes) As shown in Figure 1, ten female Asian tiger mosquitoes were placed in an acrylic box (6 x 6 x 4 cm) covered on both sides with mesh cloth (nylon, 15D, mesh shape: hexagonal, mesh size: 1.5 mm). For each example, the pest control composition was sprayed once from a distance of 30 cm from the surface of the mesh cloth using a sprayer containing approximately 100 mL of the pest control composition in a trigger-type sprayer (trigger type: pressurized, capacity 370 mL, nozzle diameter: 0.8 mm, discharge amount: 0.9 g / shot). "Single spray" means that the spray was applied by pulling the trigger of the trigger-type sprayer once in a full stroke. If an Asian tiger mosquito fell over on its back or side and was unable to maintain flight after lightly tapping the acrylic box, it was recorded as knocked down. The number of knocked-down Aedes albopictus mosquitoes was counted 5 minutes after spraying the composition, and the knock-down rate was calculated as the number of knocked-down mosquitoes / 10 × 100 (%).
[0084] Examples 1-12, Comparative Examples 1-11 (Preparation and Evaluation of Pest Control Compositions) A pest control composition was prepared by mixing the components shown in Tables 1-3 using a stirrer. The amounts listed in Tables 1-3 represent the amount of active ingredient (mass%) of each component. The obtained composition was evaluated for its appearance using the method described above. Furthermore, the prepared composition was filled into the spray vial or trigger-type spray container to produce an insecticide. The obtained insecticide was then evaluated using the method described above. The evaluation results are shown in Tables 1 to 3.
