AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing surgical robots face challenges in performing smooth and independent pitch motion and yaw/actuation motion due to issues with jaw wire movement during pitching, which affects the precision and accuracy of surgical operations.

Method used

A multi-joint surgical device with a jaw pulley system that allows for pitch rotation and yaw rotation, featuring a drive unit with a jaw pulley and a jaw rotation shaft that compensates for jaw wire movement, enabling independent pitch and yaw motions by adjusting the length of the jaw wire within the drive unit.

Benefits of technology

The device enables smooth and independent pitch and yaw motions, enhancing the precision and accuracy of surgical operations by compensating for jaw wire movement during pitching, thereby improving the overall performance of surgical robots.

Abstract

This invention relates to surgical instruments, and more particularly to surgical instruments that can be mounted on a robotic arm or manually operated for use in laparoscopic surgery or various other surgical procedures. [Solution] A motor pack comprising a case, a pitch plate rotatably disposed on the case, a jaw plate rotatably disposed on the pitch plate and transmitting power to a drive unit jaw rotation shaft connected to the jaw wire of a surgical instrument, a pitch drive motor that supplies rotational force to the pitch plate, and a jaw drive motor that supplies rotational force to the jaw plate, wherein as the pitch plate rotates, the jaw plate revolves together with the rotation center of the pitch plate, thereby compensating for the amount of movement of the jaw wire corresponding to the pitch movement.
