Abstract

Even when the surface being detected for events caused by a fire is a curved surface, it is possible to accurately pinpoint the location of the fire and detect it based on the detection results of events occurring on that curved surface. [Solution] The fire detection system generates a projected image by performing predetermined image processing on an image captured of events such as reflections from flames that occur on a predetermined surface due to a fire. The system identifies the depth-direction location of the fire by identifying the depth-direction location of the detected events in the projected image. If the surface on which the event occurred is curved, the system performs a predetermined correction process to adjust the event occurrence estimation point 86, which is the position of the event detected in the projected image, to match the event occurrence point 88, which is the actual position on the curved surface. Based on the depth-direction location of the event corrected by the predetermined correction process, the system identifies the depth-direction location of the fire.
