Abstract

This invention provides a magnetic sensor that uses a small integrated circuit, allows for a greater distance between the axis of the rotating magnet and the magnetic detection element, and offers less restriction on placement flexibility. [Solution] The magnetic sensor comprises an integrated circuit 1, a plurality of magnetic detection elements 2, and a rotating magnet 3. At least a portion of the integrated circuit is positioned to overlap with the rotating magnet when viewed from the direction of the rotation axis A of the rotating magnet. The plurality of magnetic detection elements are positioned at 90° intervals around the rotation axis of the rotating magnet, and each has a sensitivity axis in the direction of the rotation axis, comprising a first element, a second element, a third element, and a fourth element. The integrated circuit has a circuit for calculating the signals of a pair of magnetic detection elements positioned at 180° intervals from each other. Each of the first element, second element, third element, and fourth element is positioned at a different location from the integrated circuit, at least a portion of which overlaps with the rotating magnet when viewed from the direction of the rotation axis.
