Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery. [Background technology]
[0002] In recent years, high-performance batteries have been widely used as power sources for portable devices, automobiles, etc. An example of such a high-performance battery is an all-solid-state battery having a configuration in which a plurality of unit cells are stacked on top of each other.
[0003] The laminate that constitutes the unit cell of the all-solid-state battery includes an electrode sheet in which a material (electrode active material) capable of reversibly absorbing and releasing lithium ions is held by a conductive member (electrode current collector). Such an electrode sheet is produced by applying a paste (electrode mixture) containing the electrode active material to the conductive member (electrode current collector) and applying pressure to densify the paste while drying by heating or after drying.
[0004] Regarding the drying device, Patent Document 1 describes a device that uses a mid-infrared heater to dry a substrate coated with a thick-film paste in a predetermined pattern. The device described in Patent Document 1 is said to be able to dry the thick-film paste evenly.
[0005] Patent Document 2 describes a web drying device that is composed of multiple hot air nozzles that blow hot air and multiple electric far-infrared heaters. It is said that the device described in Patent Document 2 can improve drying capacity by providing an electric far-infrared heater that can increase the surface temperature while shortening the heating time.
[0006] Patent Document 3 describes an apparatus that uses far infrared rays to dry an electrode sheet in which a paste (electrode mixture) is applied to the surface of a conductive member (electrode current collector). The apparatus described in Patent Document 3 is said to be able to suppress shaking of the electrode sheet in a drying oven and dry the electrode mixture efficiently and safely without complicating the drying oven structure.
[0007] Furthermore, Patent Document 4 describes an electrode manufacturing device equipped with an air blower that blows hot air in a direction parallel to the coating surface of an electrode current collector. According to the device described in Patent Document 4, by blowing hot air in a direction parallel to the coating surface of an electrode current collector, rapid evaporation of the solvent from the coating film can be suppressed, effectively preventing the binder in the electrode mixture slurry coating film from migrating to the surface layer, and achieving a uniform binder distribution in the electrode. [0009] When manufacturing the electrode sheets that make up the unit cells of all-solid-state batteries, the paste (electrode mixture) applied to the surface of the conductive material (electrode current collector) needs to be heated under strict temperature control.
[0010] However, it was difficult to perform heating with strict temperature control in the drying devices described in Patent Documents 1 to 4. For example, in the case of the drying device described in Patent Document 1, there was a risk of overheating the electrode sheet coated with the paste (electrode mixture) when the heater was heated before the sheet was transported or when the heater was cooled after the sheet was stopped being transported.
[0011] The present invention has been made in consideration of the above background, and has an object to provide a heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery that is capable of temperature control and, in particular, can effectively suppress overheating. [Means for solving the problem]
[0012] In order to solve the above problems, the inventors have conducted detailed studies on the temperature of the electrode sheet, and have noted that the temperature of the electrode sheet is determined by the radiant energy supplied from the heater to the electrode sheet (proportional to the heater surface temperature and proportional to the reciprocal of the electrode sheet transport speed).
[0013] As for the surface temperature of the heater, it was found that the temperature only decreased slightly even after a certain amount of time had passed since the heater was stopped, as shown in Figure 1. As for the transport speed, when the transport of the electrode sheet stops, the radiated energy to the electrode sheet becomes greater than when it is being transported, so the temperature of the electrode sheet becomes higher when the transport is stopped than when it is being transported.
[0014] Therefore, the inventors of the present invention thought that if, after the transport of the electrode sheet is stopped, the heating surface of the heater is moved in a direction parallel to the heated surface of the electrode sheet to move the heater away from the electrode sheet, it would be possible to effectively control both the radiation amount and radiation time of heat supplied from the heater to the electrode sheet, and as a result, it would be possible to suppress overheating of the electrode sheet, and thus completed the present invention.
[0015] Aspect 1 A heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery for heating an electrode sheet in which an electrode mixture is applied to a surface of an electrode current collector, comprising: an infrared heater having a heating surface disposed opposite the heated surface of the electrode sheet; and A translation mechanism that translates the infrared heater so that the heater moves in a direction parallel to the heated surface, and moves the infrared heater between a heating space facing the heated surface and a retreat space not facing the heated surface. A heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery comprising: Aspect 2 when a temperature of the electrode sheet in the heating space reaches a set upper limit value, the infrared heater is evacuated from the heating space to the evacuation space by the parallel movement, and the infrared heater is cooled in the evacuation space. Aspect 3 the infrared heater is heated in the evacuation space, and when the temperature of the infrared heater reaches a set lower limit value, the infrared heater is moved from the evacuation space to the heating space by the parallel movement, and the electrode sheet is heated in the heating space. Aspect 4 4. The heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery according to any one of aspects 1 to 3, wherein the electrode sheet is transported by a roll-to-roll method. Effect of the Invention
[0016] In the heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention, the heating surface of the infrared heater moves in a direction parallel to the heated surface of the electrode sheet, so that the heater can be heated before the start of transport of the electrode sheet and cooled after the transport of the electrode sheet is stopped in a location away from the electrode sheet.
[0017] Therefore, it is possible to effectively control both the radiation amount and radiation time of heat supplied from the infrared heater to the electrode sheet, and to effectively prevent the electrode sheet from being overheated. As a result, in the manufacturing process of the electrode sheet for the all-solid-state battery, it is possible to control the target temperature without reducing the conveying speed of the electrode sheet, and the electrode sheet can be efficiently manufactured. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0019] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the preferred embodiments. It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the following embodiments and can be practiced in various modified forms.
[0020] <Heating device for electrode sheets for solid-state batteries> The heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention is applied to the manufacture of electrodes that constitute unit cells of an all-solid-state battery, and is a heating device that enables heating under strict temperature control.
[0021] According to the heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention, overheating of the electrode sheet can be effectively suppressed. Therefore, in the manufacturing process of the electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery, the target temperature can be controlled without reducing the conveying speed of the electrode sheet, and the electrode can be efficiently manufactured.
[0022] <Configuration of heating device> <Infrared heater> The heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention includes an infrared heater for heating an electrode sheet having an electrode mixture applied to the surface of an electrode current collector, and the infrared heater has a heating surface disposed opposite to the heated surface of the electrode sheet.
[0023] The infrared heater provided in the heating device for the electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention is not particularly limited. It is preferable that the heater has a flat heating surface that can be arranged so as to face the heated surface of the electrode sheet.
[0024] Since the infrared heater is disposed so as to face the heated surface of the electrode sheet, when the electrode mixture is applied to only one side of the electrode sheet, only one infrared heater may be provided so as to face the surface on which the electrode mixture is applied. When heating an electrode sheet on both sides of which the electrode mixture is applied, two infrared heaters may be provided, one on each side of the electrode sheet, so as to sandwich the electrode sheet.
[0025] <Parallel movement mechanism> The heating device for the electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention includes a parallel movement mechanism that translates the infrared heater so that the infrared heater moves in a direction parallel to the heated surface of the electrode sheet, and moves the infrared heater between a heating space facing the heated surface and a retraction space not facing the heated surface.
[0026] The heating device for the electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention can use the parallel movement mechanism to heat up the heater before starting to transport the electrode sheet and cool down the heater after stopping the transport of the electrode sheet at a location away from the electrode sheet. This makes it possible to effectively control both the radiation amount and radiation time of heat supplied from the infrared heater to the electrode sheet, and effectively suppress overheating of the electrode sheet.
[0027] The configuration of the parallel movement mechanism is not particularly limited as long as it can move the infrared heater in a parallel direction to the heated surface of the electrode sheet, move the infrared heater to a space not facing the heated surface, and return the infrared heater from the space not facing the heated surface to the space facing the heated surface.
[0028] For example, a mechanism may be used in which a rotating shaft is disposed on the electrode sheet transport line and the heater is rotated around the rotating shaft.
[0029] When the heating device for the electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention includes two infrared heaters, the two infrared heaters may have a mechanism for moving the heaters in parallel to the same side relative to the transport direction of the electrode sheet, or a mechanism for moving the heaters in parallel to different sides relative to the transport direction of the electrode sheet.
[0030] When it is desired to shorten the cooling time of the infrared heaters, it is preferable to use a mechanism for moving the heaters in parallel to each other on different sides.
[0031] <Other configurations> (Temperature measurement means) The heating device for the electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention may include a temperature measuring means for measuring the temperature of the heating surface of the infrared heater and the temperature of the heated surface of the electrode sheet. Based on the results obtained by the temperature measuring means, the parallel movement of the infrared heater is started.
[0032] (Movement control means) The heating device for the electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention may include a movement control means for controlling the parallel movement mechanism. The movement control means may be, for example, a means for determining whether the result obtained by the temperature measurement means has reached a set temperature, and transmitting a command to start movement to the parallel movement mechanism based on the determination result.
[0033] <Electrode sheet for all-solid-state batteries> The electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery to which the heating device of the present invention is applied is not particularly limited, and may be an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery made of a known material and having a known configuration.
[0034] An electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery generally has a configuration in which an electrode mixture containing an electrode active material capable of reversibly absorbing and releasing lithium ions is held on an electrode current collector which is a conductive member.
[0035] In producing the electrode, an electrode mixture paste containing an electrode active material is applied to the surface of an electrode current collector, and the electrode mixture paste is heated and dried under strict temperature control, or the electrode mixture paste is dried and then pressurized to densify the paste to form an electrode.
[0036] (Electrode current collector) Examples of materials used for the electrode current collectors include SUS, aluminum, copper, nickel, iron, titanium, carbon, etc. Among these, the material of the positive electrode current collector layer is preferably aluminum, and the material of the negative electrode current collector layer is preferably copper.
[0037] The shape of the current collector layer may be, for example, a foil, a plate, a mesh, etc. Of these, the foil shape is preferred.
[0038] (Electrode mixture) The electrode mixture contains an electrode active material and may further contain, as optional components, a conductive assistant, a binder, and a solid electrolyte.
[0039] Positive electrode active materials used in the positive electrode mixture that becomes the positive electrode include, for example, lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2), lithium nickel oxide (LiNiO2), lithium manganese oxide (LiMn2O4), LiCo 1 / 3 Ni 1 / 3 Mn 1 / 3 O2, Li 1+x Mn 2-x-y M y Examples of such spinels include Li-Mn spinels substituted with different elements having a composition represented by O4 (M is one or more metal elements selected from Al, Mg, Co, Fe, Ni, and Zn). Not limited.
[0040] Examples of the negative electrode active material used in the negative electrode electrode mixture that becomes the negative electrode include materials capable of absorbing and releasing metal ions such as metallic lithium and lithium ions. Examples of the material capable of absorbing and releasing metal ions such as lithium ions include alloy-based negative electrode active materials and carbon materials.
[0041] Examples of the alloy-based negative electrode active material include a Si alloy-based negative electrode active material and a Sn alloy-based negative electrode active material.
[0042] The Si alloy-based negative electrode active material includes silicon, silicon oxide, silicon carbide, silicon nitride, or a solid solution thereof, etc. The Si alloy-based negative electrode active material may also contain elements other than silicon, such as Fe, Co, Sb, Bi, Pb, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ge, In, Sn, Ti, etc.
[0043] The Sn alloy-based negative electrode active material includes tin, tin oxide, tin nitride, or a solid solution thereof, etc. The Sn alloy-based negative electrode active material may also contain elements other than tin, such as Fe, Co, Sb, Bi, Pb, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ge, In, Ti, Si, etc.
[0044] Examples of the carbon material include hard carbon, soft carbon, and graphite.
[0045] Examples of the conductive assistant include carbon materials such as VGCF (Vapor Grown Carbon Fiber) and carbon nanofibers, and metal materials.
[0046] Examples of binders include materials such as polyvinylidene fluoride (PVdF), carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), butadiene rubber (BR), styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), and combinations thereof.
[0047] (Transportation method) The electrode sheet applied to the heating device for the electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention may be one that is transported by a roll-to-roll system.
[0048] Specifically, the electrode mixture paste may be produced and transported by a method in which the electrode mixture paste is passed between adjacent rotating rolls and transferred onto the electrode current collector, thereby coating the electrode mixture paste on the electrode current collector.
[0049] When the electrode sheet is transported by a roll-to-roll method, the working efficiency can be improved.
[0050] <<Function of the heating device>> The heating device for the electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention has the effect of translating the infrared heater so as to move in a direction parallel to the heated surface of the electrode sheet when a preset temperature is reached, and moving the infrared heater between a heating space facing the heated surface and a retraction space not facing the heated surface.
[0051] <Evacuation> In the heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention, when the temperature of the electrode sheet reaches a set upper limit value, a parallel movement mechanism is performed to retract the infrared heater from the heating space to an evacuation space, and the infrared heater is cooled in the evacuation space.
[0052] The retraction of the heating device for the electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 2 and 3. FIG.
[0053] Figures 2(a) and 2(b) are top views of a heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery according to one embodiment, and Figures 3(a) and 3(b) are front views of the device. Figures 2(a) and 3(a) show the state of the heating device in the heating space, and Figures 2(b) and 3(b) show the state of the heating device in the evacuation space.
[0054] 2 and 3, a heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery according to one embodiment includes two infrared heaters 1 and 3, and in a heating space, an electrode sheet 2 is placed between these infrared heaters 1 and 3 for heating. In the electrode sheet 2 according to this embodiment, an electrode mixture is applied to both sides of an electrode current collector, and both sides of the electrode sheet are heated surfaces.
[0055] As shown in Figures 2(a) and 3(a), in the heating space, the heating surfaces of infrared heaters 1 and 3 are arranged to face the heated surface of electrode sheet 2, and the heated surface of electrode sheet 2 is heated.
[0056] Then, when the temperature of the electrode sheet reaches a preset upper limit of the set temperature, the infrared heater is retreated from the heating space to an evacuation space by translation using the parallel translation mechanism, and the infrared heater is cooled in the evacuation space.
[0057] By retracting the infrared heater, it is possible to reduce both the amount of heat radiation and the radiation time supplied from the infrared heater to the electrode sheet, and as a result, it is possible to prevent overheating of the electrode sheet.
[0058] As shown in FIG. 2(b) and FIG. 3(b), in the heating device for the electrode sheet for a solid battery according to this embodiment, the two infrared heaters 1 and 3 are moved in parallel in the same direction to move away from the electrode sheet.
[0059] When the heating device for the electrode sheet for a solid battery of the present invention is in the retreated state, the conveyance of the electrode sheet may be stopped. After the conveyance is stopped, the electrode sheet can be densified by pressing to form an electrode.
[0060] The preset temperature for determining evacuation is not particularly limited, and can be appropriately set according to the composition, thickness, etc. of the electrode mixture within a range that can prevent overheating of the electrode sheet.
[0061] <Start of heating> The heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention heats up an infrared heater in an evacuation space, and when the temperature of the infrared heater reaches a set lower limit value, performs parallel movement by the parallel movement mechanism to move the infrared heater from the evacuation space to a heating space, and heats the electrode sheet in the heating space.
[0062] The start of heating of the electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery of the present invention by the heating device is a parallel movement opposite to the above-mentioned retreat.
[0063] After the infrared heater is heated in advance in the evacuation space, the infrared heater is translated by the translation mechanism to move the infrared heater from the evacuation space to the heating space, and the electrode sheet is heated in the heating space.
[0064] Since the electrode sheet is not heated until the infrared heater is sufficiently heated, both the amount and duration of heat radiation supplied from the infrared heater to the electrode sheet can be reduced, thereby preventing overheating of the electrode sheet.
[0065] The preset temperature for determining the advance is not particularly limited, and can be appropriately set according to the composition, thickness, etc. of the electrode mixture within a range that can prevent the electrode sheet from being overheated. EXAMPLES
[0066] The present invention will be described in more detail below with reference to the experimental results. Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1 and 2 are examples in which the manner of retracting an infrared heater is different in a heating device for an electrode sheet for a solid battery.
[0067] <Preparation of electrode sheet> Ni foil was prepared as the electrode current collector. In addition, an electrode mixture paste containing nickel cobalt manganese oxide (NCM), which is a positive electrode active material, was prepared as the electrode mixture. An electrode sheet was produced by applying the electrode mixture paste to both sides of the Ni foil.
[0068] <Example 1> 2 and 3 show the manner in which the heating device for the electrode sheet for a solid battery used in Example 1 was evacuated. The manner of evacuation in Example 1 was achieved by the heating device of the present invention, and specifically, when the infrared heater was moved from the heating space to the evacuation space, it was translated in a direction parallel to the heated surface of the electrode sheet.
[0069] The state of evacuation in the first embodiment is the same as that described in the above embodiment.
[0070] In the heating space, the heating surfaces of infrared heaters 1 and 3 are arranged to face the heated surface of electrode sheet 2, and heat the heated surface of electrode sheet 2. When the temperature of the electrode sheet reaches a preset upper limit of the set temperature, the infrared heater is moved to the evacuation space and cooled in the evacuation space.
[0071] In the first embodiment, the infrared heater is translated so as to move in a direction parallel to the heated surface of the electrode sheet, and is retracted from the electrode sheet.
[0072] The change in temperature of the electrode sheet after the infrared heater is retracted is shown in Figure 8. In Figure 8, the horizontal axis indicates the elapsed time after the infrared heater is retracted, and the vertical axis indicates the temperature of the electrode sheet. Note that Max on the vertical axis is the upper limit of the preset temperature.
[0073] <Comparative Example 1> 4 and 5 show the manner in which the heating device for the electrode sheet for a solid battery used in Comparative Example 1 was retracted. In the manner of retraction in Comparative Example 1, the infrared heater was moved in a direction perpendicular to the heated surface of the electrode sheet when it was moved from the heating space to the retraction space.
[0074] Figures 4(a) and 4(b) are top views of the heating device of Comparative Example 1, and Figures 5(a) and 5(b) are front views of the device. Figures 4(a) and 5(a) show the state of the heating device in the heating space, and Figures 4(b) and 5(b) show the state of the heating device in the evacuation space.
[0075] The heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery in Comparative Example 1 shown in Figs. 4 and 5 includes two infrared heaters 4 and 6, similar to Example 1, and as shown in Figs. 4(a) and 5(a), in the heating space, an electrode sheet 5 is disposed between these infrared heaters 4 and 6 and heated.
[0076] When the temperature of the electrode sheet reaches a preset upper limit of the set temperature, the infrared heaters 4 and 6 are moved to the evacuation space, and the infrared heaters 4 and 6 are cooled in the evacuation space.
[0077] In Comparative Example 1, as shown in Figures 4(b) and 5(b), the two infrared heaters 4 and 6 are moved in a direction perpendicular to the heated surface of the electrode sheet and are removed from the electrode sheet 5.
[0078] The change in temperature of the electrode sheet after the infrared heater was removed is shown in FIG.
[0079] <Comparative Example 2> 6 and 7 show the manner in which the heating device for the electrode sheet for a solid battery used in Comparative Example 2 was evacuated. The evacuation manner in Comparative Example 2 was not to move the infrared heater from the heating space to the evacuation space, but to insert a stainless steel shielding plate between the heated surface of the electrode sheet and the heating surface of the infrared heater.
[0080] Figures 6(a) and 6(b) are top views of the heating device of Comparative Example 2, and Figures 7(a) and 7(b) are front views of the device. Figures 6(a) and 7(a) show the state of the heating device in the heating space, and Figures 6(b) and 7(b) show the state of the heating device in the evacuation space.
[0081] The heating device for an electrode sheet for an all-solid-state battery in Comparative Example 2 shown in Figs. 6 and 7 includes two infrared heaters 7 and 10, and as shown in Figs. 6(a) and 7(a), in the heating space, an electrode sheet 8 is disposed between these infrared heaters 7 and 10 for heating.
[0082] Then, when the temperature of the electrode sheet reaches the upper limit of the preset set temperature, as shown in Figures 6(b) and 7(b), two shielding plates 9 are inserted between the heating surfaces of the two infrared heaters 7 and 10 and the heated surface of the electrode sheet 8 without moving the infrared heaters.
[0083] The change in temperature of the electrode sheet after the shielding plate 9 is inserted is shown in FIG.
[0084] <Consideration> In Example 1, in which the infrared heater was moved parallel to the heated surface of the electrode sheet and then withdrawn, it was found that the temperature of the electrode sheet significantly decreased over time without exceeding the upper limit value of the preset temperature (Max in Figure 8).
[0085] On the other hand, in Comparative Example 1, in which the infrared heater was moved in a direction perpendicular to the heated surface of the electrode sheet and then retreated, the temperature of the electrode sheet continued to rise for a while after the retreat, exceeding the upper limit of the preset temperature (Max in FIG. 8). In other words, the heating device of Comparative Example 1 was unable to avoid overheating.
[0086] In addition, in Comparative Example 2, in which an attempt was made to shield the heat from the infrared heater using two shielding plates, the temperature of the electrode sheet did not exceed the upper limit of the preset temperature (Max in Figure 8), but the temperature decrease was more gradual than in Example 1.
