[0029] (Method for producing compounds represented by general formulas (1) and (2)) The compound represented by the general formula (1) can be produced, for example, by the method described in JP-A-2019-211764. The compound represented by the general formula (2) can be produced, for example, by the method described in JP-A-2019-1983.
[0030] The squarylium compounds (A) can be used alone or in combination of two or more.
[0031] The content of the squarylium compound (A) in the non-volatile matter of the infrared absorbing composition is preferably 0.01 to 50 mass %, more preferably 0.1 to 30 mass %. By including an appropriate amount, appropriate infrared absorbing properties can be obtained.
[0032] In the present specification, the squarylium compound (A) is preferably dispersed in the form of fine particles using a dispersant. Dispersion in the form of fine particles makes it easier for the squarylium compound (A) to exhibit its performance, and the durability of the compound itself is also improved. The dispersant is preferably a resin-type dispersant.
[0033] The average primary particle size of the squarylium compound (A) after dispersion is preferably 1 to 500 nm, more preferably 10 to 200 nm, and even more preferably 10 to 100 nm. By setting the average primary particle size to a suitable value, the squarylium compound (A) is less likely to aggregate, and the absorption spectrum becomes sharper. The average primary particle size can be measured by directly measuring the size of about 100 primary particles from an electron microscope photograph using a transmission electron microscope (TEM). Specifically, the minor axis diameter and major axis diameter of each primary particle are measured, and the average value is taken as the primary particle size of the particle. The volume (mass) of each particle is calculated by approximating the cube of the calculated particle size, and the volume average particle size is taken as the average primary particle size.
[0034] <Basic resin type dispersant (E)> The resin type dispersant used in the infrared absorbing composition is preferably a basic resin type dispersant (E). The basic resin type dispersant (E) is, for example, a resin containing a basic group such as a tertiary amino group, a quaternary ammonium base, or a nitrogen-containing heterocycle. The basic group is preferably an amino group or a quaternary ammonium base, and more preferably contains both. The basic resin type dispersant (E) preferably has an amine value of 50 to 100 mgKOH / g. [0035] A preferred embodiment of the basic resin type dispersant (E) is a block copolymer consisting of an A block having a tertiary amino group and a quaternary ammonium salt group, and a B block which is a monomer polymer mainly composed of an alkyl (meth)acrylate ester. The A block functions as an adsorption site for the infrared absorbing dye (A), whereas the B block functions as a steric repulsion site. The basic resin type dispersant (E) has an A block and a B block, and thus greatly improves the dispersion stability of the squarylium compound (A). Specifically, the basic resin type dispersant described in JP 2019-211764 A can be preferably used.
[0036] In addition to the basic resin type dispersant (E), an acidic resin type dispersant can be used in combination.

[0038] The content of the resin type dispersant is preferably from 3 to 200 mass %, more preferably from 5 to 100 mass %, relative to 100 parts by mass of the squarylium compound (A). When an appropriate amount is contained, the dispersion stability is improved.

When an appropriate amount is contained, the adhesion between the substrate and the coating is further improved, and good resolution can be obtained.
[0105] <Antioxidants> The infrared absorbing composition may contain an antioxidant. The antioxidant prevents the photopolymerization initiator and thermosetting compound contained in the infrared absorbing composition from oxidizing and yellowing due to a thermal process such as heat curing, and therefore can improve the transmittance of the coating film. In particular, when the colorant concentration in the composition is high, the content of the photopolymerizable compound (D) is relatively reduced, and the coating film is likely to yellow if the amount of the photopolymerization initiator is increased or a thermosetting compound is added. Therefore, by including an antioxidant, yellowing due to oxidation during the heating process can be prevented and a decrease in the transmittance of the coating film can be suppressed.
[0106] Examples of the antioxidant include hindered phenol-based, hindered amine-based, phosphorus-based, sulfur-based, and hydroxylamine-based compounds. In this specification, the antioxidant is preferably a compound that does not contain a halogen atom.

[0114] The content of the storage stabilizer is preferably 0.1 to 10% by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the squarylium dye (A).
[0115] <Adhesion improver> The infrared absorbing composition may contain an adhesion improver. This improves the adhesion between the coating and the substrate. In addition, it becomes easier to form a narrow pattern by photolithography. Examples of the adhesion improver include a silane coupling agent.

Examples of the silane coupling agent include aminosilanes such as N-phenyl-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane, 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, 3-triethoxysilyl-N-(1,3-dimethyl-butylidene)propylamine, N-phenyl-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane, and N-(vinylbenzyl)-2-aminoethyl-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane hydrochloride; mercaptos such as 3-mercaptopropylmethyldimethoxysilane and 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane; styryls such as p-styryltrimethoxysilane; ureidos such as 3-ureidopropyltriethoxysilane; sulfides such as bis(triethoxysilylpropyl)tetrasulfide; and isocyanates such as 3-isocyanatepropyltriethoxysilane.
[0117] The content of the adhesion promoter is preferably 0.01 to 10 parts by mass, more preferably 0.05 to 5 parts by mass, relative to 100 parts by mass of the squarylium (A). [0118] <Method for producing infrared absorbing composition> The infrared absorbing composition is prepared by dispersing the squarylium compound (A), a solvent, and, if necessary, a dispersant, etc., to prepare a dispersion. Then, the binder resin (B), the polymerizable compound (C), and the photopolymerization initiator (D) are mixed together to prepare the composition. The timing of mixing each material is arbitrary.
[0119] The dispersion treatment can be carried out using a dispersion device such as a kneader, a two-roll mill, a three-roll mill, a ball mill, a horizontal sand mill, a vertical sand mill, an annular bead mill, or an attritor.
[0120] <Solvent> The infrared absorbing composition may contain a solvent. This makes it easier to adjust the viscosity of the composition, and therefore easier to form a coating with a smooth surface. The solvent may be appropriately selected depending on the purpose of use, and an appropriate amount may be contained.
[0121] Examples of the solvent include ester solvents (solvents containing -COO- but not -O- in the molecule), ether solvents (solvents containing -O- but not -COO- in the molecule), ether ester solvents (solvents containing -COO- and -O- in the molecule), ketone solvents (solvents containing -CO- but not -COO- in the molecule), alcohol solvents (solvents containing OH in the molecule and not containing -O-, -CO- or -COO-), aromatic hydrocarbon solvents, amide solvents, dimethyl sulfoxide, and the like.
[0122] Among these, in terms of coatability and drying property, solvents having a boiling point of 120° C. or more and 180° C. or less at 1 atm are preferred. For example, propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate, ethyl lactate, butyl lactate, propylene glycol monomethyl ether, ethyl 3-ethoxypropionate, ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, diethylene glycol monomethyl ether, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-pentanone, N,N-dimethylformamide, N-methylpyrrolidone, etc. are more preferred, and propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate, propylene glycol monomethyl ether, ethyl lactate, ethyl 3-ethoxypropionate, etc. are even more preferred.
[0123] <Removal of large particles> The infrared absorbing composition is preferably subjected to removal of coarse particles of 5 μm or more, preferably coarse particles of 1 μm or more, more preferably coarse particles of 0.5 μm or more, and mixed dust by means of centrifugation at a gravitational acceleration of 3000 to 25000 G, filtration with a sintered filter or membrane filter, etc. In this way, it is preferable that the infrared absorbing composition does not substantially contain particles of 0.5 μm or more. More preferably, the particles are 0.3 μm or less.
[0124] The optical filter of the present invention preferably has a substrate and a film formed from an infrared absorbing composition. The type of the substrate may be, for example, glass, silicon wafer, etc. The thickness of the substrate is about 0.3 to 2 mm. The thickness of the film is about 0.2 to 5 μm.
[0125] <Method of manufacturing optical filters> The optical filter of the present invention can be prepared by forming a coating (film) on a substrate. The film can be formed into a pattern of a desired shape by, for example, a photolithography method.
[0126] The pattern by the photolithography method is prepared by applying the infrared absorbing composition prepared as the solvent-developable or alkali-developable resist material on a transparent substrate by a known method such as spray coating, spin coating, slit coating, roll coating, etc. The dried film is exposed to ultraviolet light through a mask having a predetermined pattern provided in contact with or without contact with the film as necessary. Thereafter, the uncured parts are removed by immersing in a solvent or an alkali developer or spraying the developer by a spray or the like to form a desired pattern, and then the same operation can be repeated for other colors to produce a filter. Furthermore, in order to promote the polymerization of the polymerizable unsaturated group, heating can also be performed as necessary. According to the photolithography method, a filter with higher accuracy than the above printing method can be produced.
[0127] In the development, an aqueous solution of sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide, etc. is used as an alkaline developer, and an organic alkali such as dimethylbenzylamine, triethanolamine, etc. can also be used. In addition, a defoaming agent or a surfactant can also be added to the developer.
[0128] The optical filter of the present invention can be produced by the above-mentioned method, as well as by a printing method, an etching method, an electrodeposition method, a transfer method, an ink-jet method, and the like.
[0129] <Optical filter applications> The optical filter of the present invention has a wide viewing angle and excellent infrared blocking ability. Therefore, it is preferable to use it as an infrared blocking filter. In addition, it has little absorption in the visible range (400 nm to 700 nm), excellent infrared absorbing ability, and excellent durability such as heat resistance and light resistance. Therefore, it is useful for visual sensitivity correction of solid-state imaging elements such as CCD and CMOS image sensors of camera modules. In particular, it is useful for digital still cameras, cameras for mobile phones, digital video cameras, PC cameras, surveillance cameras, cameras for automobiles, televisions, car navigation systems, personal digital assistants, personal computers, video games, portable game machines, sensors for biometric authentication (fingerprint authentication and vein authentication), digital music players, etc.
[0130] For example, when capturing an image, a digital camera separates the light it receives into red, green, and blue filters and sends the decomposed light to a photodiode that converts the light into an electrical signal, thereby recognizing color. Photodiodes also react to infrared rays and convert them into electrical signals, so a filter is required to block them. The optical filter of the present invention can be used as a filter to block this infrared light. Absorption in the visible range in addition to infrared rays has an adverse effect on color recognition, but the squarylium compound (A) has high invisibility and therefore has little adverse effect on the color recognition of the photodiode.
[0131] (Biometric sensor) The optical filter of the present invention can also be used in sensors for biometric authentication (fingerprint authentication or vein authentication), or in touch sensors or touch panels incorporating such sensors. For example, smartphones, tablet PCs, bank ATMs, multimedia terminals, and the like are equipped with biometric authentication functions such as fingerprint authentication and finger vein authentication for security purposes. Fingerprint authentication technology, particularly for use in smartphones and tablet PCs, has been developing at a dizzying pace, and as screen sizes have increased (to full screen), fingerprint authentication sensors built into the display have been developed for both OLED displays and LCD displays. However, most fingerprint sensors built into displays use an optical method in which various light sources installed inside the display are shone on the fingerprint and the reflected light is sensed, so if unauthorized external light (strong light with a wide range of wavelengths, such as sunlight or LED lighting) enters the sensor, it becomes noise when the image is captured, which is an issue, and the accuracy is somewhat unreliable for outdoor use. The same is true for finger vein authentication in bank ATMs and multimedia terminals, and in stores with strong lighting or good sunlight, measures are taken such as putting a cover over the sensor to block external light. The optical filter of the present invention is effective in solving these problems by absorbing and preventing unauthorized external light from being incident on the sensor. For example, when used in a smartphone or tablet computer, when it is set on the front of the panel, it is necessary to have a design that is also attractive, and the optical filter of the present invention has the advantage that it can be used suitably because it has no absorption in the visible range and is invisible, i.e., highly transparent. In addition, the optical filter of the present invention has excellent heat resistance, so it can also be used favorably in the process of manufacturing a sensor, or a touch sensor or touch panel in which the sensor is incorporated.
[0132] (display) The optical filter of the present invention can also be incorporated into a display. Specifically, a liquid crystal display with a touch panel function such as an electronic whiteboard can be mentioned. This liquid crystal display with a touch panel function has three functions: display, writing, and storage. The touch panel built into this liquid crystal display also uses optical methods such as infrared scanning and infrared projection, and the noise caused by the above-mentioned external light is an issue. Since liquid crystal displays with a touch panel function are often used in schools, etc., their accuracy and good response to touch are important. By incorporating the optical filter of the present invention into a display, external light that becomes noise can be cut. In addition, the optical filter of the present invention can be preferably used as an anti-reflection film for large displays such as organic electroluminescence (OLED) televisions. By suppressing the reflection of not only visible light but also light in the infrared region, there is an advantage that the black display on the display can be made darker. Since the optical filter of the present invention has excellent heat resistance, it can be preferably used for the resistance of processes required in display manufacturing. EXAMPLES
[0133] The present invention will be described below based on Production Examples and Examples, but the present invention is not limited thereto. In addition, "parts" means "parts by mass" and "%" means "% by mass".
[0134] (Method of Identifying Squarylium Compound (A)) The squarylium compound (A) used in the present invention was identified by MALDI TOF-MS spectroscopy. [0135] (Weight average molecular weight (Mw) of basic resin-type dispersant and binder resin) The weight average molecular weight (Mw) of the basic resin-type dispersant and binder resin is the polystyrene-equivalent weight average molecular weight (Mw) measured using a TSKgel column (manufactured by Tosoh Corporation) and a GPC (manufactured by Tosoh Corporation, HLC-8120GPC) equipped with an RI detector, using THF as the developing solvent.
[0136] (Amine value of basic resin type dispersant) The amine value (mgKOH / g) of the basic resin-type dispersant was measured using a 0.1N hydrochloric acid solution. The amine value was determined by potentiometric titration and then converted into the equivalent amount of potassium hydroxide. The amine value of the basic resin-type dispersant indicates the amine value of the non-volatile content.
[0137] (Quaternary ammonium salt value of basic resin type dispersant) The quaternary ammonium salt value (mgKOH / g) of a basic resin type dispersant was determined by titration with 0.1N silver nitrate solution using 5% potassium chromate solution as an indicator, and then converted into the potassium hydroxide equivalent. The quaternary ammonium salt value of a basic resin type dispersant indicates the quaternary ammonium salt value of the non-volatile portion.
[0138] (Acid value of binder resin) The acid value (mgKOH / g) of the binder resin was determined by potentiometric titration using a 0.1N potassium hydroxide-ethanol solution. The acid value of the binder resin indicates the acid value of the non-volatile content.

The results are shown in Table 5.
[0193] (Evaluation of spectral characteristics) The obtained photosensitive infrared absorbing composition was spin-coated on a 1.1 mm thick glass substrate using a spin coater to a thickness of 1.0 μm, dried at 60° C. for 5 minutes, and then heated at 230° C. for 5 minutes to prepare a substrate with a coating film. The absorption spectrum of the obtained substrate with a coating film was measured in the wavelength range of 300 to 900 nm using a spectrophotometer (U-4100, Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation). The average absorbance of 400 to 700 nm, when the absorbance of the maximum absorption wavelength is set to 1, was evaluated according to the following criteria. The maximum absorption wavelength of the squarylium compound (A) is in the infrared region (700 to 1000 nm). When this absorbance is set to 1, it can be said that the smaller the absorbance of 400 to 700 nm, the better the absorption ability in the infrared region, and the higher the coloring power and the steeper the spectrum. ◎: Less than 0.05 ○: 0.05 or more, less than 0.075 △: 0.075 or more, less than 0.1 × : 0.1 or more
[0194] (Lightfastness test) A substrate with a coating was prepared using the same procedure as in the spectral characteristic evaluation, and placed in a light resistance tester (TOYOSEIKI's "SUNTEST CPS+") and left for 24 hours. The absorbance at the spectral maximum absorption wavelength of the coating was measured, and the remaining ratio to that before light irradiation was calculated, and the light resistance was evaluated according to the following criteria. The remaining ratio was calculated using the following formula. Residual rate = (absorbance after irradiation) ÷ (absorbance before irradiation) × 100 ◎: Residual rate is 95% or more ○: Residual rate is 90% or more, but less than 95% ×: Residual rate is less than 90%
[0195] (Heat resistance test) Substrates with coating films were prepared using the same procedure as in the spectral characteristic evaluation, and were additionally heated at 210°C for 20 minutes as a heat resistance test. The absorbance at the spectral maximum absorption wavelength of the coating film was measured, and the remaining ratio to that before the heat resistance test was calculated, and the heat resistance was evaluated according to the following criteria. The remaining ratio was calculated using the following formula. Residual rate = (absorbance after heat resistance test) ÷ (absorbance before heat resistance test) × 100 ◎: Residual rate is 95% or more ○: Residual rate is 90% or more, but less than 95% ×: Residual rate is less than 90%
[0196] (Residual film after development) The compositions obtained in Examples 1 to 24 and Comparative Example 1 were spin-coated on a glass substrate using a spin coater so that the dry film thickness was 1.0 μm, and then dried at 70 for 3 minutes to prepare a substrate with a coating film. The obtained coating film was exposed to light at 20,000 W / 5,000 J using a stepper exposure machine (ATS-4003, manufactured by Asahi Techno Solutions Co., Ltd.), and the film thickness of the exposed area was measured using a contact film thickness meter (DEKTAC8, a stylus-type surface profiler, manufactured by ULVAC, Inc.), and the film thickness after immersion in a 2% potassium hydroxide aqueous solution for 2 minutes was then measured, and the amount of film loss after development (development remaining film rate) was evaluated based on the ratio of the measured film thickness. Residual film after development (%) = Film thickness after immersion in developer / Film thickness before immersion in developer × 100% The evaluation ranking is as follows: ◎: 90% or more ○: 70% or more, less than 90% △: 50% or more, less than 70% ×: Less than 50%
