Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The disclosed technology relates to a medical image processing device. [Background technology]
[0002] Among medical image processing devices that process medical images such as radiation images, the following technology is known as a battery-powered device. For example, Patent Document 1 describes an X-ray inspection device that switches between a process of storing in a storage medium an image that has been subjected to image correction processing and image processing for providing the captured image for diagnosis when capturing an image, and a process of storing in a storage medium an image that has been subjected to only image correction processing. This X-ray inspection device performs the above-mentioned switching when the remaining capacity of the internal power supply becomes less than a preset capacity.
[0003] Patent document 2 describes an X-ray imaging device that is composed of a flat sensor panel that captures X-ray images, a controller that stores and processes the captured images, and a battery to drive them, in which when AC power is not supplied, the device only stores the images acquired from the flat sensor panel and does not perform image processing. [0004] [Patent Document 1] JP 2004-173906 A [Patent Document 2] JP 2005-27739 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0005] There is known a medical image processing device that performs image processing to analyze medical images such as radiological images using a computer, thereby detecting and presenting lesions from medical images, and providing information useful for diagnosis. Such diagnostic support involving image processing by a computer is called CAD (Computer Aided Diagnosis). Since CAD processing involves image processing of medical images, by having a processor specialized for image processing such as a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) perform the CAD processing, the processing time can be significantly reduced compared to when using a CPU (Central Processing Unit) that excels in general-purpose processing.
[0006] Meanwhile, a mobile radiographic imaging device (so-called medical cart) equipped with a CAD function has been proposed, which is equipped with an irradiation unit for irradiating radiation, a console, and a battery. By implementing the CAD function installed in the mobile radiographic imaging device using a GPU independent of the console, it becomes possible to quickly perform diagnostic support using the CAD function at the destination. However, in this case, power supply from the battery is also required for the GPU, and the amount of power consumed from the battery increases. As a result, it is expected that the operating time of the device will be shortened or the frequency of battery charging will increase, which may hinder efficient medical rounds.
[0007] The disclosed technology has been developed in consideration of the above points, and aims to reduce the amount of power consumed from a battery in a medical image processing device that has a processor that performs image processing on medical images and a battery that supplies power to the processor. [Means for solving the problem]
[0008] The medical image processing device according to the disclosed technique includes a first processor, a second processor that executes image processing on a medical image in response to an instruction from the first processor, and a battery that supplies power to the first processor and the second processor. The second processor executes the image processing by a processing method selected from a plurality of processing methods having different power consumptions.
[0009] The first processor may select any one of the plurality of processing methods based on a remaining charge of the battery. The first processor may select any one of the plurality of processing methods based on information indicating a purpose of the image processing. The first processor may select any one of the plurality of processing methods based on information indicating a schedule for executing the image processing.
[0010] The plurality of processing methods may have different amounts of calculation processing, and the plurality of processing methods may have different numbers of pixels of the medical image to be processed.
[0011] When a third processor that receives power from a power source other than the battery and executes image processing is available, the first processor may select one of a plurality of processing methods by the second processor and a processing method by the third processor. When the remaining charge of the battery is equal to or less than a threshold, the first processor may select the processing method by the third processor.
[0012] The medical image may be a radiation image. In this case, the medical image processing device may further include a radiation irradiation unit that receives power from a battery and irradiates radiation for capturing a radiation image. The second processor may output information that supports diagnosis using the medical image by image processing. The medical image processing device may include a first battery for supplying power to the first processor and a second battery for supplying power to the second processor. The medical image processing device may be mobile. Effect of the Invention
[0013] According to the disclosed technique, in a medical image processing apparatus including a processor that executes image processing on medical images and a battery that supplies power to the processor, it is possible to reduce the amount of power consumed from the battery. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0015] Hereinafter, an example of an embodiment of the disclosed technology will be described with reference to the drawings. In each drawing, the same or equivalent components and parts are given the same reference numerals, and duplicated descriptions will be omitted as appropriate.
[0016] [First embodiment] FIG. 1 is a diagram showing an example of the configuration of a medical examination system 1 according to an embodiment of the disclosed technology. The medical examination system 1 is configured to include a medical image processing device 10 and an electronic cassette 60. FIG. 2 is a side view showing an example of the appearance of the medical image processing device 10. The medical image processing device 10 has a function of acquiring a radiological image obtained by irradiating a patient, who is a subject, with radiation such as X-rays, performing CAD processing involving image processing on the radiological image, and presenting the results of the CAD processing. The radiological image is an example of a "medical image" in the disclosed technology, and is generated by the electronic cassette 60.
[0017] As shown in Fig. 2, the medical image processing device 10 has wheels 11 on its bottom. In other words, the medical image processing device 10 is a mobile type that can be carried around. Therefore, the medical image processing device 10 can be used for doctor's rounds to examine hospitalized patients in a ward. As shown in Fig. 1, the medical image processing device 10 includes a radiation irradiation unit 20, a console 30, a diagnosis support unit 40, and a battery 50.
[0018] The radiation irradiation unit 20 has a function of irradiating a subject with radiation such as X-rays when capturing a radiological image. The radiation irradiation unit 20 is provided at the tip of the arm unit 12. The arm unit 12 is extendable in its longitudinal direction and is also rotatable about the shaft unit 13 as a rotation axis.
[0019] The console 30 and the diagnostic support unit 40 are configured to include computers independent of each other. The battery 50 supplies power to each of the radiation irradiation unit 20, the console 30, and the diagnostic support unit 40. The battery 50 is a secondary battery such as a lithium polymer battery, and can be charged via a connector (not shown). The battery 50 has a function of measuring its remaining charge and notifying the console 30. The console 30, the diagnostic support unit 40, and the battery 50 are built into the medical image-processing device 10.
[0020] Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing an example of a method for capturing a radiographic image using the medical image processing device 10 and an electronic cassette 60. Fig. 3 illustrates an example of capturing a radiographic image of the chest of a subject 201 lying supine on an examination table 300. The electronic cassette 60 is disposed in a position facing the radiation irradiation unit 20. The subject 201 is disposed between the radiation irradiation unit 20 and the electronic cassette 60 so that the part to be captured is within the radiation irradiation field.
[0021] When a user 200, such as a radiologist or a doctor, operates the irradiation switch 14, radiation R is irradiated from the radiation irradiation unit 20. The radiation that has passed through the subject 201 reaches the electronic cassette 60. The electronic cassette 60 is a known portable FPD (Flat Panel Detector) that detects radiation that has passed through the subject 201 and generates a radiation image. The electronic cassette 60 has a function of automatically detecting the start of irradiation of radiation R irradiated from the radiation irradiation unit 20. Therefore, the electronic cassette 60 can generate a radiation image without connecting to the medical image processing device 10. The electronic cassette 60 has a wireless communication function and transmits the generated radiation image to the console 30 by wireless communication. The medical image processing device 10 has a storage unit 15 (see FIG. 2) for storing the electronic cassette 60. When the electronic cassette 60 is stored in the storage unit 15, a battery (not shown) built into the electronic cassette 60 can be charged.
[0022] Each component of the medical image processing apparatus 10 shown in FIG. 1 will be described in detail below.
[0023] FIG. 4 is a block diagram showing an example of the configuration of the radiation irradiation unit 20. The radiation irradiation unit 20 includes a control unit 21, a voltage generation unit 22, a radiation tube 23, and an irradiation field limiter 24. The radiation tube 23 includes a filament, a target, and a grid electrode (none of which are shown). A voltage output from the voltage generation unit 22 is applied between the filament, which is a cathode, and the target, which is an anode. The voltage applied between the filament and the target is called a tube voltage. The filament emits thermoelectrons toward the target according to the applied tube voltage. The target emits radiation due to the collision of the thermoelectrons from the filament. The grid electrode is disposed between the filament and the target. The grid electrode controls the flow rate of thermoelectrons from the filament toward the target. The flow rate of thermoelectrons from the filament toward the target is called a tube current. The control unit 21 controls the tube voltage, the tube current, and the irradiation time of radiation based on instructions from the console 30.
[0024] The exposure switch 14 is a two-stage switch that allows a user, such as a radiologist or a doctor, to instruct the start of radiation exposure. When the exposure switch 14 is pressed down to the first stage, the filament is preheated and the target starts to rotate at the same time. When the filament reaches a specified temperature and the target rotates at a specified number of times, the warm-up is completed. When the exposure switch 14 is pressed down to the second stage after the warm-up is completed, a voltage is output from the voltage generating unit 22 and radiation is emitted from the radiation tube 23.
[0025] The irradiation field limiter 24 limits the irradiation field of the radiation emitted from the radiation tube 23. The irradiation field limiter 24 is configured, for example, such that four shielding plates that block radiation are arranged on each side of a rectangle, and a rectangular opening that transmits radiation is formed in the center. The irradiation field limiter 24 changes the size of the opening by changing the positions of the four shielding plates, thereby changing the size of the irradiation field of the radiation.
[0026] The console 30 is a computer that comprehensively controls various processes executed in the medical image processing device 10. Fig. 5 is a diagram showing an example of a hardware configuration of the console 30. The console 30 has a CPU 31, a RAM (Random Access Memory) 32, a non-volatile memory 33, a touch panel display 34, a wireless interface 35, and a communication interface 36. The CPU 31, the RAM 32, the non-volatile memory 33, the touch panel display 34, the wireless interface 35, and the communication interface 36 are connected to a bus 39.
[0027] The non-volatile memory 33 is a storage device such as a flash memory, and stores a medical examination processing program 37 and a processing method selection table 38, which will be described later. The RAM 32 is a work memory for the CPU 31 to execute processing. The CPU 31 loads the medical examination processing program 37 stored in the non-volatile memory 33 into the RAM 32, and executes processing in accordance with the medical examination processing program 37. The CPU 31 is an example of a "first processor" in the disclosed technology.
[0028] The touch panel display 34 functions as an input device that accepts input of information to be used in processing executed by the CPU 31, and as an output device that outputs the results of processing executed by the CPU 31. The input device may be configured to include known input means such as an operation button, a hardware keyboard, a mouse, a trackball, or the like.
[0029] The wireless interface 35 is an interface through which the console 30 transmits and receives information or data between the electronic cassette 60 and other devices via wireless communication. The console 30 acquires, via the wireless interface 35, radiographic images transmitted from the electronic cassette 60 via wireless communication. The acquired radiographic images are stored in the non-volatile memory 33.
[0030] The communication interface 36 is an interface through which the console 30 transmits and receives information or data between the diagnosis support unit 40 and other devices. The communication interface 36 may be, for example, compliant with USB (Universal Serial Bus). The console 30 also obtains information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50 from the battery 50 via the communication interface 36.
[0031] The diagnostic support unit 40 is a computer that executes CAD processing involving image processing on the radiation image in response to an instruction from the console 30. The diagnostic support unit 40 outputs information that supports diagnosis using medical images as a result of the CAD processing. As CAD processing, the diagnostic support unit 40 detects, for example, abnormal shadows such as lesion sites included in the radiation image and transmits the results to the console 30. The diagnostic support unit 40 is configured by a computer independent of the console 30.
[0032] 6 is a diagram showing an example of a hardware configuration of the diagnosis support unit 40. The diagnosis support unit 40 has a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) 41, a RAM 42, a non-volatile memory 43, and a communication interface 44. The GPU 41, the RAM 42, the non-volatile memory 43, and the communication interface 44 are connected to a bus 49.
[0033] The GPU 41 is a processor that has more cores than the CPU 31 of the console 30 and is capable of performing relatively simple calculations such as matrix operations in parallel. Therefore, the GPU 41 can perform CAD processing involving image processing of radiographic images faster than the CPU 31. The GPU 41 is an example of a "second processor" in the disclosed technology.
[0034] The non-volatile memory 43 is a storage device such as a flash memory, and stores a CAD processing program 45, a first detection model 46A, a second detection model 46B, and a third detection model 46C, which will be described later. The RAM 42 is a work memory for the GPU 41 to execute processing. The GPU 41 loads the CAD processing program 45 stored in the non-volatile memory 43 into the RAM 42, and executes CAD processing in accordance with the CAD processing program 45. The communication interface 44 is an interface for transmitting and receiving information or data between the console 30 and other devices. The communication interface 44 may be, for example, one that complies with USB.
[0035] The diagnostic support unit 40 may have the form of a detachable so-called "external GPU box" having a housing that houses the GPU 41, the RAM 42, the non-volatile memory 43, and the communication interface 44. The diagnostic support unit 40 may further have a CPU that excels in general-purpose processing in addition to the GPU 41. In this case, it is preferable that the GPU 41 specializes in image processing of radiographic images, and the CPU performs general-purpose processing such as program execution control and communication control with the console 30.
[0036] The first to third detection models 46A to 46C are mathematical models for detecting abnormal shadows such as lesion sites included in radiation images, and are trained models trained by machine learning. The first to third detection models 46A to 46C are configured using, for example, neural networks. The first to third detection models 46A to 46C are configured using, for example, deep neural networks (DNNs), which are multi-layer neural networks that are the subject of deep learning. As the DNNs, for example, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) that target images are used.
[0037] By inputting a radiographic image to be subjected to CAD processing to the first to third detection models 46A to 46B, detection results of abnormal shadows such as diseased areas included in the radiographic image to be subjected to CAD processing are output from the first to third detection models 46A to 46B. The GPU 41 executes CAD processing by selectively using the first to third detection models 46A to 46C.
[0038] The first to third detection models 46A to 46C have different amounts of power consumption in the GPU 41 when detecting an abnormal shadow using these models. In this embodiment, the amount of power consumption is the smallest when the first detection model 46A is used, and the amount of power consumption is the largest when the third detection model 46C is used. The amount of power consumption when the second detection model 46B is used is greater than when the first detection model 46A is used, and less than when the third detection model 46C is used.
[0039] In this embodiment, the first to third detection models 46A to 46C have different amounts of calculation processing when detecting an abnormal shadow using them. The amount of calculation processing is the smallest when the first detection model 46A is used, the amount of calculation processing is the largest when the third detection model 46B is used, and the amount of calculation processing is the largest when the second detection model 46B is used, compared to when the first detection model 46A is used and less than when the third detection model 46C is used. For example, the first to third detection models 46A to 46C may have different numbers of intermediate layers in the neural networks constituting them. That is, the first detection model 46A may have the smallest number of intermediate layers, the third detection model 46C may have the largest number of intermediate layers, and the second detection model 46B may have more intermediate layers than the first detection model 46A and less than the third detection model 46C. Accordingly, the detection accuracy of abnormal shadows may be lowest when the first detection model 46A is used, the detection accuracy of abnormal shadows may be highest when the third detection model 46C is used, and the detection accuracy of abnormal shadows may be higher when the second detection model 46B is used than when the first detection model 46A is used but lower than when the third detection model 46C is used.
[0040] 7 is a diagram showing an example of processing performed in a learning phase in which the first to third detection models 46A to 46C are trained by machine learning. Each of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C is trained using training data TD. The training data TD includes a plurality of radiation images XP to which a correct answer label CL is attached. The radiation images XP included in the training data TD are sample images including various abnormal shadows. The correct answer label CL is, for example, position information of the abnormal shadow in the radiation image XP.
[0041] In the learning phase, a radiographic image XP is input to each of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C. The first to third detection models 46A to 46C output a detection result DR, which is a result of detecting an abnormal shadow from the input radiographic image XP. A loss calculation is performed using a loss function based on the detection result DR and the correct label CL. Then, update settings of various coefficients (weighting coefficients, biases, etc.) of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C are performed according to the result of the loss calculation, and the first to third detection models 46A to 46C are updated according to the update settings.
[0042] In the learning phase, a series of processes are repeatedly performed, including input of the radiation image XP to the first to third detection models 46A-46C, output of the detection results DR from the first to third detection models 46A-46C, loss calculation, update setting, and update of the first to third detection models 46A-46C. The repetition of this series of processes is terminated when the detection accuracy of the abnormal shadow reaches a preset level in each detection model. The first to third detection models 46A-46C whose detection accuracy has reached the set level are stored in the non-volatile memory 43 as trained detection models. The first to third detection models 46A-46C are used for CAD processing performed in the diagnosis support unit 40.
[0043] Thus, the medical image processing apparatus 10 according to this embodiment has a function of performing CAD processing involving image processing of the acquired radiographic image in addition to a function of capturing a radiographic image. However, the diagnosis support unit 40 including the GPU 41 that performs the CAD processing also requires power supply from the battery 50, and the amount of power consumed from the battery 50 increases compared to a case without the CAD processing function. As a result, it is expected that the operating time of the medical image processing apparatus 10 will be shortened or the frequency of charging the battery 50 will increase, which may hinder efficient rounds.
[0044] Therefore, when executing CAD processing, the medical image processing apparatus 10 according to this embodiment performs CAD processing using a processing method selected from among a plurality of processing methods with different power consumption amounts, thereby reducing the amount of power consumed by the battery 50. Specifically, a detection model to be used is selected from the first to third detection models 46A to 46C based on the remaining charge of the battery 50, and CAD processing is performed using the selected detection model.
[0045] FIG. 8 is a diagram showing an example of the processing method selection table 38 stored in the non-volatile memory 33 of the console 30. The processing method selection table 38 is a table in which the remaining charge of the battery 50 is associated with a detection model used in CAD processing. That is, the processing method of CAD processing according to the remaining charge of the battery 50 is specified in the processing method selection table 38. According to the processing method selection table 38 illustrated in FIG. 8, when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is less than 30%, the processing method using the first detection model 46A is selected, when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is 30% or more and less than 60%, the processing method using the second detection model 46B is selected, and when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is 60% or more, the processing method using the third detection model 46C is selected.
[0046] 9 is a functional block diagram showing an example of the functional configuration of the console 30. The console 30 includes a diagnosis processing unit 131, an information acquisition unit 132, and a processing method selection unit 133. The CPU 31 executes the diagnosis processing program 37, so that the console 30 functions as the diagnosis processing unit 131, the information acquisition unit 132, and the processing method selection unit 133.
[0047] The diagnosis processing unit 131 sets radiation irradiation conditions, acquires radiation images, issues instructions to execute CAD processing, acquires and displays the results of CAD processing, and so on.
[0048] The information acquisition unit 132 acquires information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50 notified from the battery 50 as information for selecting a processing method for CAD processing.
[0049] The processing method selection unit 133 refers to the processing method selection table 38 to select a processing method using any of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C that corresponds to the remaining charge of the battery 50 indicated by the information acquired by the information acquisition unit 132.
[0050] 10 is a flowchart showing an example of the flow of the diagnosis process performed by the CPU 31 of the console 30 executing the diagnosis process program 37. The diagnosis process program 37 is executed when a user such as a radiologist or a doctor operates the touch panel display 34 to instruct the start of the diagnosis process.
[0051] In step S1, the CPU 31 functions as the examination processing unit 131 and performs a process of setting irradiation conditions of radiation irradiated from the radiation irradiating unit 20. Specifically, the CPU 31 displays a selection screen of an imaging menu on the touch panel display 34 and receives an instruction to select an imaging menu. A user such as a radiologist or a doctor selects an imaging menu corresponding to an imaging technique designated in examination order information supplied from a RIS (Radiology Information System) (not shown). The console 30 can be connected to the RIS via a wireless interface 35. The CPU 31 supplies radiation irradiation conditions including a tube voltage, a tube current, and an irradiation time corresponding to the selected imaging menu to the control unit 21 of the radiation irradiating unit 20. As a result, the radiation irradiation conditions including the tube voltage, the tube current, and the irradiation time are set in the radiation irradiating unit 20. The user can modify the radiation irradiation conditions associated with the imaging menu by operating the touch panel display 34.
[0052] In step S2, the CPU 31 functions as the diagnosis processing unit 131 and determines whether or not irradiation of radiation has started. For example, when the CPU 31 detects that the irradiation switch 14 has been pressed down to the second level, it determines that irradiation of radiation has started.
[0053] In step S3, the CPU 31 functions as the diagnosis processing unit 131 and determines whether or not the irradiation of radiation is completed. For example, the CPU 31 determines that the irradiation of radiation is completed when it determines that the irradiation time set in step S1 has elapsed since the start of the irradiation of radiation.
[0054] The radiation irradiated from the radiation irradiation unit 20 and transmitted through the subject reaches the electronic cassette 60. The electronic cassette 60 detects the radiation that has transmitted through the subject to generate a radiographic image, and transmits the generated radiographic image to the console 30 via wireless communication.
[0055] In step S4, the CPU 31 functions as the diagnosis processing unit 131 and determines whether or not it has acquired a radiographic image transmitted from the electronic cassette 60. If the CPU 31 determines that it has acquired a radiographic image, it stores the acquired radiographic image in the non-volatile memory 33 and transitions to step S5.
[0056] In step S5, the CPU 31 functions as the information acquisition unit 132 and acquires information indicating the remaining capacity of the battery 50 notified from the battery 50 as information for selecting a processing method for CAD processing.
[0057] In step S6, the CPU 31 functions as a processing method selection unit 133 and, by referring to the processing method selection table 38, selects a processing method using any of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C that corresponds to the remaining charge of the battery 50 indicated by the information acquired in step S5.
[0058] In step S7, the CPU 31 functions as the diagnosis processing unit 131, and transmits an instruction to execute CAD processing, a radiographic image to be processed by CAD processing, and information indicating the processing method selected in step S6 (hereinafter, referred to as processing method information) to the diagnosis support unit 40. The CPU 31 may transmit an instruction to execute CAD processing, a radiographic image to be processed by CAD processing, and processing method information to the diagnosis support unit 40 based on an instruction from a user.
[0059] When the diagnostic support unit 40 receives an instruction to execute CAD processing, a radiological image to be processed, and processing method information, it executes CAD processing involving image processing on the radiological image to be processed using one of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C, which is indicated by the processing method information, and transmits the result to the console 30.
[0060] In step S8, the CPU 31 functions as the diagnosis processing unit 131 and determines whether or not the result of the CAD processing transmitted from the diagnosis support unit 40 has been acquired.
[0061] In step S9, the CPU 31 functions as the diagnosis processing unit 131, and causes the touch panel display 34 to display the result of the CAD processing acquired in step S8.
[0062] 11 is a functional block diagram showing an example of the functional configuration of the diagnosis support unit 40. The diagnosis support unit 40 includes a detection model selection unit 141 and a CAD processing unit 142. The GPU 41 executes a CAD processing program 45, so that the diagnosis support unit 40 functions as the detection model selection unit 141 and the CAD processing unit 142.
[0063] The detection model selection unit 141 selects the detection model indicated by the processing method information transmitted from the console 30 from among the first to third detection models 46A to 46C.
[0064] The CAD processing unit 142 executes CAD processing involving image processing of the radiographic image to be processed by using the detection model selected by the detection model selection unit 141 in response to an instruction to execute CAD processing transmitted from the console 30. Specifically, the CAD processing unit 142 inputs the radiographic image to be processed by the detection model selected by the detection model selection unit 141 from among the first to third detection models 46A to 46C stored in the non-volatile memory 43. As a result, the detection model detects an abnormal shadow such as a diseased part included in the radiographic image to be processed by the CAD processing. For example, the CAD processing unit 142 outputs position information indicating the coordinate position in the radiographic image of the abnormal shadow detected by the detection model as the result of the CAD processing. The CAD processing unit 142 may output an image in which a mark indicating the position of the abnormal shadow is added to the radiographic image to be processed by the CAD processing as the result of the CAD processing. The CAD processing unit 142 may also specify the type of disease corresponding to the detected abnormal shadow and include the specified type in the result of the CAD processing. The CAD processing unit 142 transmits the result of the CAD processing to the console 30.
[0065] 12 is a flowchart showing an example of a flow of processing performed by the GPU 41 of the diagnosis support unit 40 by executing the CAD processing program 45. The CAD processing program 45 is executed, for example, when the execution of the examination processing program 37 starts.
[0066] In step S11, the GPU 41 functions as the CAD processing unit 142 and determines whether or not it has received an instruction to execute CAD processing, a radiological image to be processed, and processing method information transmitted from the console 30. If the GPU 41 determines that it has received an instruction to execute CAD processing, a radiological image to be processed, and processing method information, it transitions to step S12.
[0067] In step S12, the GPU 41 functions as the detection model selection unit 141 and selects the detection model indicated by the processing method information received in step S11 from among the first to third detection models 46A to 46C.
[0068] In step S13, the GPU 41 functions as the CAD processing unit 142, and executes CAD processing involving image processing on the radiation image to be CAD processed received in step S11, using the detection model selected in step S12 from among the first to third detection models 46A to 46C. In step S14, the GPU 41 transmits the result of the CAD processing to the console 30.
[0069] As described above, according to the medical image processing apparatus 10 according to the embodiment of the disclosed technique, the GPU 41 of the diagnosis support unit 40, which executes CAD processing involving image processing on medical images, performs CAD processing using a processing method selected from a plurality of processing methods with different power consumption amounts based on the remaining amount of the battery 50. The selection of the processing method is realized by selecting a detection model to be used in the CAD processing from the first to third detection models 46A to 46C.
[0070] According to the medical image processing apparatus 10, as described above, for example, when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is low, it is possible to perform control such as performing CAD processing using a detection model with a relatively low power consumption. This makes it possible to suppress the power consumption in the diagnosis support unit 40 (GPU 41) and suppress the amount of power consumed from the battery 50. This makes it possible to extend the operating time of the medical image processing apparatus 10. In addition, it is possible to reduce the frequency of charging the battery 50. Therefore, it is possible to perform efficient rounds using the medical image processing apparatus 10.
[0071] [Second embodiment] The medical image-processing device 10 according to the first embodiment described above selects a processing method for CAD processing based on information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50. In contrast, the medical image-processing device 10 according to the second embodiment selects a processing method for CAD processing based on information indicating the purpose of the CAD processing. The purpose of the CAD processing is the purpose of the examination performed using the medical image-processing device 10, and examples of such include follow-up, precise diagnosis, and cause analysis.
[0072] 13 is a diagram showing an example of a processing method selection table 38A according to the present embodiment. The processing method selection table 38A is a table in which the purpose of CAD processing and the detection model used in the CAD processing are associated with each other. That is, the processing method of CAD processing according to the purpose of CAD processing is specified in the processing method selection table 38A. According to the processing method selection table 38, when the purpose of CAD processing is follow-up observation, the processing method using the first detection model 46A is selected, when the purpose of CAD processing is precise diagnosis, the processing method using the second detection model 46B is selected, and when the purpose of CAD processing is cause analysis, the processing method using the third detection model 46C is selected.
[0073] When the purpose of the CAD processing is follow-up, it is considered that it is not necessary to perform detection of the abnormal shadow with high accuracy because a known abnormal shadow is detected from a radiation image. Therefore, when the purpose of the CAD processing is follow-up, it is considered that it is possible to perform the CAD processing using the first detection model 46A with a relatively low detection accuracy of the abnormal shadow. On the other hand, when the purpose of the CAD processing is precise diagnosis or causal analysis, it is preferable to perform detection of the abnormal shadow with high accuracy, and especially in the case of causal analysis, it is preferable to perform detection of the abnormal shadow with the highest accuracy. Therefore, when the purpose of the CAD processing is precise diagnosis, it is preferable to perform CAD processing using the second detection model 46B with a relatively high detection accuracy of the abnormal shadow, and when the purpose of the CAD processing is causal analysis, it is preferable to perform CAD processing using the third detection model 46C with the highest detection accuracy of the abnormal shadow.
[0074] In this embodiment, the information acquisition unit 132 (see FIG. 9), which is a functional unit of the console 30, acquires information indicating the purpose of CAD processing as information for selecting a processing method of CAD processing. The information indicating the purpose of CAD processing may be input by a user operating the touch panel display 34 when capturing a radiographic image, for example. In addition, when the examination order information supplied from the RIS includes information indicating the purpose of CAD processing, the information acquisition unit 132 may acquire the information indicating the purpose of CAD processing by acquiring the examination order information.
[0075] In this embodiment, the processing method selection unit 133 (see Figure 9), which is a functional unit of the console 30, refers to the processing method selection table 38A to select a processing method corresponding to the purpose of CAD processing indicated by the information acquired by the information acquisition unit 132 from among the processing methods using any of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C.
[0076] In this embodiment, the CPU 31 of the console 30 functions as the information acquisition unit 132 in step S5 of the flowchart shown in Fig. 10, and acquires information indicating the purpose of the CAD processing as information for selecting a processing method of the CAD processing. The information indicating the purpose of the CAD processing may be acquired, for example, by a user inputting the information by operating the touch panel display 34, or may be acquired by acquiring a consultation order supplied from the RIS.
[0077] In step S6, the CPU 31 functions as a processing method selection unit 133 and, by referring to the processing method selection table 38A, selects a processing method using any one of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C that corresponds to the purpose of the CAD processing indicated by the information acquired in step S5.
[0078] According to the medical image processing apparatus 10 of this embodiment, as described above, for example, when the purpose of CAD processing does not require highly accurate detection of abnormal shadows, it is possible to control the CAD processing using a detection model with relatively low power consumption. This makes it possible to reduce the power consumption in the diagnosis support unit 40 (GPU 41) and the amount of power consumed by the battery 50.
[0079] [Third embodiment] The medical image processing apparatus 10 according to the first embodiment selects a processing method for CAD processing based on information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50, and the medical image processing apparatus 10 according to the second embodiment selects a processing method for CAD processing based on information indicating the purpose of the CAD processing. In contrast, the medical image processing apparatus 10 according to the third embodiment selects a processing method for CAD processing based on both information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50 and information indicating the purpose of the CAD processing.
[0080] FIG. 14 is a diagram showing an example of the processing method selection table 38B according to the present embodiment. The processing method selection table 38B is a table in which a combination of the purpose of the CAD processing and the remaining amount of the battery 50 is associated with a detection model used in the CAD processing. That is, the processing method of the CAD processing according to the combination of the purpose of the CAD processing and the remaining amount of the battery 50 is specified in the processing method selection table 38B. According to the processing method selection table 38B, for example, when the purpose of the CAD processing is a follow-up observation and the remaining amount of the battery 50 is less than 30%, the processing method using the first detection model 46A is selected, when the purpose of the CAD processing is a precise diagnosis and the remaining amount of the battery is 30% or more and less than 60%, the processing method using the second detection model 46B is selected, and when the purpose of the CAD processing is a cause analysis and the remaining amount of the battery 50 is 60% or more and less than 100%, the processing method using the third detection model 46C is selected.
[0081] In this embodiment, the information acquisition unit 132 (see FIG. 9), which is a functional unit of the console 30, acquires information indicating the purpose of the CAD processing and information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50 as information for selecting a processing method of the CAD processing.
[0082] In this embodiment, the processing method selection unit 133 (see Figure 9), which is a functional unit of the console 30, refers to the processing method selection table 38B to select a processing method using any of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C that corresponds to the combination of the purpose of the CAD processing and the remaining charge of the battery 50 indicated by the information acquired by the information acquisition unit 132.
[0083] In this embodiment, the CPU 31 of the console 30 functions as an information acquisition unit 132 in step S5 of the flowchart shown in FIG. 10, and acquires information indicating the purpose of the CAD processing and information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50 as information for selecting a processing method for the CAD processing.
[0084] In step S6, the CPU 31 functions as a processing method selection unit 133 and, by referring to the processing method selection table 38B, selects a processing method using any of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C that corresponds to the combination of the purpose of the CAD processing and the remaining charge of the battery 50 indicated by the information acquired in step S5.
[0085] According to the medical image processing apparatus 10 of this embodiment, for example, as described above, when the purpose of CAD processing does not require highly accurate detection of abnormal shadows and the remaining charge of the battery 50 is low, it is possible to perform control such that CAD processing is performed using a detection model with relatively low power consumption. This makes it possible to suppress the power consumption in the diagnosis support unit 40 (GPU 41) and the amount of power consumed by the battery 50.
[0086] [Fourth embodiment] The medical image-processing apparatus 10 according to the first embodiment described above selects a processing method for CAD processing based on information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50. In contrast, the medical image-processing apparatus 10 according to the fourth embodiment selects one of a plurality of processing methods based on information indicating a schedule for executing CAD processing. The schedule for executing CAD processing is a schedule for examinations to be performed using the medical image-processing apparatus 10. The information indicating the schedule for executing CAD processing is included in, for example, examination order information supplied from the RIS.
[0087] 15 is a diagram showing an example of the examination order information 400. The examination order information 400 includes, for example, an order number, a patient ID, an imaging procedure, and a purpose of examination. The examination order information 400 is issued for each examination date for multiple patients who are the subjects of examination using the medical image processing device 10. That is, the examination order information 400 includes information indicating the execution schedule of CAD processing for one day.
[0088] In the present embodiment, an information acquisition unit 132 (see FIG. 9), which is a functional unit of the console 30, acquires information indicating a schedule for executing CAD processing, that is, examination order information, as information for selecting a processing method of CAD processing.
[0089] In the present embodiment, a processing method selection unit 133 (see FIG. 9), which is a functional unit of the console 30, selects one processing method from among the processing methods using any of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C based on information (examination order information) indicating a schedule for executing CAD processing. The processing method selection unit 133 identifies the number of patients to be examined (that is, the number of scheduled executions of CAD processing) included in the examination order information. When the number n of patients to be examined is less than a first threshold TH1 (n < TH1), the processing method selection unit 133 may select a processing method using the third detection model 46C for all patients. Further, when the number n of patients to be examined is equal to or greater than the first threshold TH1 and less than a second threshold TH2 (TH1 ≤ n < TH2), for patients who undergo an examination (CAD processing) for the purpose of follow-up observation, the processing method selection unit 133 may select a processing method using the first detection model 46A, and for patients who undergo an examination (CAD processing) for the purpose of precise diagnosis and cause analysis, the processing method selection unit 133 may select a processing method using the third detection model 46C. Further, when the number n of patients to be examined is equal to or greater than the second threshold TH2 (n ≥ TH2), for patients who undergo an examination (CAD processing) for the purpose of follow-up observation, the processing method selection unit 133 may select a processing method using the first detection model 46A, for patients who undergo an examination (CAD processing) for the purpose of precise diagnosis, the processing method selection unit 133 may select a processing method using the second detection model 46B, and for patients who undergo an examination (CAD processing) for the purpose of cause analysis, the processing method selection unit 133 may select a processing method using the third detection model 46C.
[0090] In this embodiment, the CPU 31 of the console 30 functions as an information acquisition unit 132 in step S5 of the flowchart shown in Fig. 10 and acquires information indicating the execution schedule of CAD processing, i.e., examination order information, as information for selecting a processing method of CAD processing. The examination order information is supplied from a RIS connected to the console 30 via a wireless interface 35. The examination order information may be downloaded to the non-volatile memory 33 in advance before the rounds on the day of the examination.
[0091] In step S6, the CPU 31 functions as the processing method selection unit 133 and selects one of the processing methods using any of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C based on the information indicating the scheduled execution of the CAD processing acquired in step S5.
[0092] According to the medical image processing apparatus 10 of this embodiment, as described above, for example, when the number of scheduled CAD processing (the number of patients to be examined) specified based on the information indicating the scheduled execution of CAD processing (examination order information) is greater than a threshold, it is possible to perform control such that CAD processing is performed using a detection model with relatively low power consumption according to the purpose of diagnosis. This makes it possible to suppress the power consumption in the diagnosis support unit 40 (GPU 41) and the amount of power consumed from the battery 50.
[0093] [Fifth embodiment] 16 is a diagram showing an example of the configuration of a diagnosis system 1 according to a fifth embodiment of the disclosed technique. The diagnosis system 1 according to this embodiment includes, as diagnosis support units performing CAD processing, a first diagnosis support unit 40A provided inside the medical image processing device 10 and a second diagnosis support unit 40B provided outside the medical image processing device 10. The first diagnosis support unit 40A corresponds to the diagnosis support unit 40 according to the first to fourth embodiments described above.
[0094] FIG. 17 is a diagram showing an example of the hardware configuration of the second diagnostic support unit 40B. The second diagnostic support unit 40B has substantially the same hardware configuration as the first diagnostic support unit 40A, and includes a GPU 71, a RAM 72, a non-volatile memory 73, a communication interface 74, and a wireless interface 75. The GPU 71, the RAM 72, the non-volatile memory 73, the communication interface 74, and the wireless interface 75 are connected to a bus 79. The GPU 71 is an example of the "third processor" in the disclosed technology. The second diagnostic support unit 40B is installed in a location different from the medical image processing device 10, and can communicate with the console 30 by wireless communication via the wireless interface 75. The second diagnostic support unit 40B receives power from a power source (not shown) different from the battery 50 provided in the medical image processing device 10.
[0095] The non-volatile memory 73 stores a CAD processing program 45 and a fourth detection model 46D. The CAD processing program 45 is the same as that stored in the non-volatile memory 43 of the first diagnosis support unit 40A. The fourth detection model 46D may be the same as any of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C stored in the non-volatile memory 43 of the first diagnosis support unit 40A. Typically, the fourth detection model 46D is the same as the third detection model 46C which has the highest detection accuracy for detecting abnormal shadows.
[0096] The second diagnostic support unit 40B executes CAD processing using the fourth detection model 46D in response to an instruction from the console 30, and transmits the result of the CAD processing to the console 30. By having the second diagnostic support unit 40B execute the CAD processing, the medical image-processing device 10 can obtain the result of the CAD processing without consuming power from the battery 50.
[0097] In the medical image processing device 10 of this embodiment, when CAD processing is performed, one of a processing method using any of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C by the first diagnostic support unit 40A (GPU 41) and a processing method using the fourth detection model 46D by the second diagnostic support unit 40B (GPU 71) is selected, and the CAD processing is performed using the selected processing method.
[0098] FIG. 18 is a diagram showing an example of a processing method selection table 38C according to the present embodiment. The processing method selection table 38C is a table in which the remaining charge of the battery 50 is associated with a diagnostic processing unit and a detection model used in CAD processing. That is, the processing method of CAD processing according to the remaining charge of the battery 50 is specified in the processing method selection table 38C. According to the processing method selection table 38C illustrated in FIG. 18, when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is less than 10%, a processing method using the fourth detection model 46D by the second diagnosis support unit 40B is selected. In this case, power is not consumed from the battery 50. When the remaining charge of the battery 50 is between 10% and 30%, a processing method using the first detection model 46A by the first diagnostic support unit 40A is selected, when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is between 30% and 60%, a processing method using the second detection model 46B by the first diagnostic support unit 40A is selected, and when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is 60% or more, a processing method using the third detection model 46C by the first diagnostic support unit 40A is selected.
[0099] In this embodiment, the information acquisition unit 132 (see FIG. 9), which is a functional unit of the console 30, acquires information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50 as information for selecting a processing method for CAD processing.
[0100] In this embodiment, the processing method selection unit 133 (see Figure 9), which is a functional unit of the console 30, refers to the processing method selection table 38C to select a processing method that corresponds to the remaining charge of the battery 50 indicated by the information acquired by the information acquisition unit 132, from among the processing methods using any of the first to third detection models 46A to 46C by the first diagnostic support unit 40A and the processing method using the fourth detection model 46D by the second diagnostic support unit 40B.
[0101] In this embodiment, the CPU 31 of the console 30 functions as the information acquisition unit 132 in step S5 of the flowchart shown in FIG. 10, and acquires information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50 as information for selecting a processing method for CAD processing.
[0102] In step S6, the CPU 31 functions as a processing method selection unit 133 and, by referring to the processing method selection table 38C, selects a processing method using any of the first to fourth detection models 46A to 46D that corresponds to the remaining charge of the battery 50 indicated by the information acquired in step S5.
[0103] In step S7, the CPU 31 functions as the diagnosis processing unit 131 and transmits an instruction to execute CAD processing, the radiological image to be processed, and processing method information to one of the first diagnostic support unit 40A and the second diagnostic support unit 40B, which corresponds to the processing method selected in step S6.
[0104] When the first diagnostic support unit 40A or the second diagnostic support unit 40B receives an instruction to perform CAD processing, a radiological image to be processed, and processing method information, it performs CAD processing on the radiological image to be processed using the detection model indicated by the processing method information, and transmits the results to the console 30.
[0105] According to the medical image processing apparatus 10 of this embodiment, as described above, for example, when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is equal to or less than a threshold, it is possible to control the second diagnostic support unit 40 (GPU 71) to perform CAD processing. This makes it possible to suppress the power consumption of the first diagnostic support unit 40 (GPU 41) and suppress the amount of power consumed by the battery 50.
[0106] In addition, when the examination system 1 includes the second diagnosis support unit 40B, any one of a plurality of processing methods may be selected based on both the remaining charge of the battery 50 and the information indicating the purpose of the CAD processing. FIG. 19 is a diagram showing an example of a processing method selection table 38D according to a modified example. The processing method selection table 38D is a table in which combinations of the purpose of the CAD processing and the remaining charge of the battery 50 are associated with the diagnostic processing unit and detection model used in the CAD processing. That is, the processing method selection table 38D specifies the processing method of the CAD processing according to the combination of the purpose of the CAD processing and the remaining charge of the battery 50.
[0107] According to the processing method selection table 38D, when the purpose of the CAD processing is follow-up observation, one of the processing methods using the fourth detection model 46D by the second diagnostic support unit 40B, the processing method using the first detection model 46A by the first diagnostic support unit 40A, and the processing method using the second detection model 46B is selected according to the remaining amount of the battery 50. When the purpose of the CAD processing is precision diagnosis, one of the processing methods using the fourth detection model 46D by the second diagnostic support unit 40B, the processing method using the second detection model 46B by the first diagnostic support unit 40A, and the processing method using the third detection model 46C is selected according to the remaining amount of the battery 50. When the purpose of the CAD processing is cause analysis, one of the processing methods using the fourth detection model 46D by the second diagnostic support unit 40B and the processing method using the third detection model 46C by the first diagnostic support unit 40A is selected according to the remaining amount of the battery 50.
[0108] [Sixth embodiment] In the medical image-processing apparatus 10 according to the first to fifth embodiments described above, the multiple processing methods selectively used in the CAD processing have different amounts of calculation processing. Specifically, the CAD processing is performed by selectively using the first to third detection models 46A to 46C, which have different amounts of calculation processing. In contrast, in the medical image-processing apparatus 10 according to the present embodiment, the multiple processing methods selectively used in the CAD processing have different numbers of pixels (resolutions) of radiographic images to be subjected to the CAD processing. Therefore, the multiple processing methods have different amounts of power consumption.
[0109] 20 is a diagram showing an example of a hardware configuration of the diagnosis support unit 40 according to this embodiment. The diagnosis support unit 40 according to this embodiment performs CAD processing using a single detection model 46.
[0110] 21 is a functional block diagram showing an example of the functional configuration of the diagnostic support unit 40 according to this embodiment. The diagnostic support unit 40 includes a resolution conversion unit 143 and a CAD processing unit 142. The GPU 41 executes a CAD processing program 45, causing the diagnostic support unit 40 to function as the resolution conversion unit 143 and the CAD processing unit 142.
[0111] The resolution conversion unit 143 performs resolution conversion processing on the radiographic image to be subjected to CAD processing so that the resolution becomes the resolution indicated by the processing method information transmitted from the console 30. Specifically, when the resolution indicated by the processing method information transmitted from the console 30 is a low resolution, the resolution conversion unit 143 performs resolution conversion processing on the radiographic image to be subjected to CAD processing to reduce the number of pixels by, for example, 40%, thereby decreasing the resolution of the radiographic image to be subjected to CAD processing. When the resolution indicated by the processing method information transmitted from the console 30 is a medium resolution, the resolution conversion unit 143 performs resolution conversion processing on the radiographic image to be subjected to CAD processing to reduce the number of pixels by, for example, 20%, thereby decreasing the resolution of the radiographic image to be subjected to CAD processing. When the resolution indicated by the processing method information transmitted from the console 30 is a high resolution, the resolution conversion unit 143 does not perform resolution conversion processing on the radiographic image to be subjected to CAD processing, and maintains the original resolution.
[0112] The CAD processing unit 142 performs CAD processing in response to an instruction to execute CAD processing transmitted from the console 30. Specifically, the CAD processing unit 142 inputs a radiographic image in which the number of pixels has been reduced by the resolution conversion unit 143, or a radiographic image in which the number of pixels has not been reduced and the resolution has been maintained, to the detection model 46. As a result, the detection model detects abnormal shadows such as diseased areas contained in the radiographic image to be subjected to CAD processing. The lower the resolution of the radiographic image to be subjected to CAD processing, the fewer the number of pixels and the less power consumption in the diagnosis support unit 40 (GPU 41). The CAD processing unit 142 transmits the result of CAD processing to the console 30.
[0113] 22 is a diagram showing an example of the processing method selection table 38E according to the present embodiment. The processing method selection table 38E is a table in which the remaining charge of the battery 50 is associated with the resolution of a radiographic image to be subjected to CAD processing. That is, the processing method of CAD processing according to the remaining charge of the battery 50 is specified in the processing method selection table 38E. According to the processing method selection table 38E, when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is less than 30%, a processing method of subjecting a radiographic image to CAD processing with a low resolution (small number of pixels) is selected, when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is 30% or more and less than 60%, a processing method of subjecting a radiographic image to CAD processing with a medium resolution (medium number of pixels) is selected, and when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is 60% or more, a processing method of subjecting a radiographic image to CAD processing with a high resolution (large number of pixels) is selected.
[0114] In this embodiment, the information acquisition unit 132 (see FIG. 9), which is a functional unit of the console 30, acquires information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50 as information for selecting a processing method for CAD processing.
[0115] In this embodiment, the processing method selection unit 133 (see FIG. 9), which is a functional unit of the console 30, refers to the processing method selection table 38E to select a processing method corresponding to the remaining charge of the battery 50 indicated by the information acquired by the information acquisition unit 132 from among a plurality of processing methods each having a different resolution (number of pixels) of the radiological image to be subjected to CAD processing.
[0116] In this embodiment, the CPU 31 of the console 30 functions as the information acquisition unit 132 in step S5 of the flowchart shown in FIG. 10, and acquires information indicating the remaining charge of the battery 50 as information for selecting a processing method for CAD processing.
[0117] In step S6, the CPU 31 functions as the processing method selection unit 133 and, by referring to the processing method selection table 38E, selects a processing method corresponding to the remaining charge of the battery 50 indicated by the information acquired in step S5 from among a plurality of processing methods each having a different resolution (number of pixels) of the radiological image to be subjected to CAD processing.
[0118] In step S7, the CPU 31 functions as the diagnosis processing unit 131 and transmits to the diagnosis support unit 40 an instruction to execute CAD processing, the radiation image to be processed by CAD processing, and processing method information indicating the processing method selected in step S6.
[0119] FIG. 23 is a flowchart showing an example of the flow of processing carried out by the GPU 41 of the diagnosis support unit 40 executing the CAD processing program 45.
[0120] In step S11, the GPU 41 functions as the CAD processing unit 142 and determines whether or not it has received an instruction to execute CAD processing, a radiological image to be processed, and processing method information transmitted from the console 30. If the GPU 41 determines that it has received an instruction to execute CAD processing, a radiological image to be processed, and processing method information, it transitions to step S12A.
[0121] In step S12A, the GPU 41 functions as the resolution conversion unit 143 and performs resolution conversion processing on the radiation image to be subjected to CAD processing so that the resolution becomes the resolution indicated by the processing method information.
[0122] In step S13, the GPU 41 functions as the CAD processing unit 142 and executes CAD processing involving image processing on the radiographic image whose pixel count has been reduced by the resolution conversion processing in step S12A or the radiographic image whose pixel count has not been reduced and whose resolution has been maintained. In step S14, the GPU 41 transmits the result of the CAD processing to the console 30.
[0123] As described above, the multiple processing methods selectively used in the CAD processing executed in the diagnosis support unit 40 of the medical image processing device 10 according to this embodiment have different numbers of pixels (resolutions) of radiographic images to be subjected to the CAD processing. According to the medical image processing device 10 according to this embodiment, as described above, for example, when the remaining charge of the battery 50 is low, it is possible to control so that a radiographic image with a low resolution (low number of pixels) is subjected to the CAD processing. This makes it possible to reduce the amount of power consumed by the diagnosis support unit 40 (GPU 41) and reduce the amount of power consumed by the battery 50.
[0124] The medical image processing apparatus 10 according to this embodiment can be modified following the examples of the second to fifth embodiments described above. That is, the selection of the processing method of the CAD processing may be performed based on information indicating the purpose of the CAD processing, or may be performed based on both the information indicating the purpose of the CAD processing and the information indicating the remaining capacity of the battery 50. The selection of the processing method of the CAD processing may also be performed based on information indicating the execution schedule of the CAD processing. Also, the CAD processing by the second diagnosis support unit 40B provided outside the medical image processing apparatus 10 may be added to the options.
[0125] Furthermore, the multiple processing methods selectively used in the CAD processing may differ from each other in both the number of pixels (resolution) of the radiation image to be processed and the amount of calculation processing.
[0126] In the above first to sixth embodiments, a single battery 50 is used to supply power to both the console 30 (CPU 31) and the diagnostic support unit (GPU 41), but the disclosed technology is not limited to this. For example, as shown in Fig. 24, the medical image processing device 10 may include a first battery 50A for supplying power to the radiation irradiation unit 20 and the console 30 (CPU 31), and a second battery 50B for supplying power to the diagnostic support unit 40 (GPU 41).
[0127] In addition, in the above first to sixth embodiments, a case has been exemplified in which a radiological image is applied as a medical image, but the medical image may be an image other than a radiological image, such as an ultrasound image or an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) image.
[0128] In the above first to sixth embodiments, the CAD processing performed by the diagnosis support unit 40 (GPU 41) is exemplified as detecting an abnormal shadow contained in a medical image, but the disclosed technology is not limited to this aspect. The CAD processing accompanying the image processing may be, for example, a process of emphasizing or attenuating a specific part contained in a medical image, or a process of visualizing a change from a previous image of a specific lesion.
[0129] In each of the above-mentioned embodiments, the following various processors can be used as the hardware structure of the processing unit that executes various processes, such as the diagnosis processing unit 131, the information acquisition unit 132, the processing method selection unit 133, the detection model selection unit 141, and the CAD processing unit 142. As described above, the above-mentioned various processors include a CPU and a GPU, which are general-purpose processors that execute software (programs) and function as various processing units, as well as a programmable logic device (PLD), which is a processor whose circuit configuration can be changed after manufacture such as an FPGA, and a dedicated electric circuit, which is a processor having a circuit configuration designed specifically for executing specific processes, such as an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC).
[0130] A single processing unit may be configured with one of these various processors, or may be configured with a combination of two or more processors of the same or different types (for example, a combination of multiple FPGAs, or a combination of a CPU and an FPGA). Also, multiple processing units may be configured with a single processor.
[0131] As an example of configuring multiple processing units with one processor, first, there is a form in which one processor is configured with a combination of one or more CPUs and software, as typified by computers such as client and server, and this processor functions as multiple processing units. Second, there is a form in which a processor is used that realizes the functions of the entire system including multiple processing units with one IC (Integrated Circuit) chip, as typified by System on Chip (SoC), etc. In this way, the various processing units are configured using one or more of the above various processors as a hardware structure.
[0132] Furthermore, more specifically, the hardware structure of these various processors can be an electric circuit that combines circuit elements such as semiconductor elements.
[0133] In the above embodiment, the diagnosis processing program 37 is pre-stored (installed) in the non-volatile memory 33, and the CAD processing program 45 is pre-stored (installed) in the non-volatile memory 43, but the present invention is not limited to this. Each of the above programs may be provided in a form recorded on a recording medium such as a CD-ROM (Compact Disc Read Only Memory), a DVD-ROM (Digital Versatile Disc Read Only Memory), or a USB (Universal Serial Bus) memory. Each of the above programs may be downloaded from an external device via a network. [Explanation of symbols]
