[0008] For example, there is a display device having an image display section in which a plurality of scanning signal lines and a plurality of image signal lines are arranged in a lattice pattern, and a plurality of pixel units are arranged in a matrix pattern so as to correspond to the intersections of the plurality of scanning signal lines and the plurality of image signal lines.

[0009] In such display devices, for example, as the resolution of the images to be displayed increases, the line width of the image signal lines becomes narrower, and if a break occurs in the image signal line in the image display unit, the image signal will only be supplied up to the point of break, which can result in defective image display.

[0010] For this reason, for example, a circuit that connects the image signal line to a pre-arranged spare signal line (also called a spare signal line) near both ends of the image signal line may be placed outside the image display unit, so that when a break occurs in the image signal line in the image display unit, the break can be dealt with.

[0011] Incidentally, for example, it is conceivable to form one display (also called a tiling display) by arranging a plurality of display panels in a tiled shape. In a display panel, for example, when the display panel is viewed in plan, a portion (also called a frame portion) that does not contribute to image display may exist between an area (also called an effective area) in which a plurality of pixel units are arranged and an end of a substrate constituting the display panel. For this reason, in a tiling display, for example, in order to make the joints between the plurality of display panels less noticeable, it is required to make the frame portion as small as possible on one side of the substrate constituting the display panel. In other words, it is conceivable to apply a display panel having a structure (also called a frameless structure) in which an image display unit is arranged over the entire surface on one side of the substrate constituting the display panel to the tiling display. In a display panel having this frameless structure, for example, wiring (also called a signal line) that supplies a signal from the back side to the image display unit on the front side is located. The wiring includes, for example, wiring located on the back side of the display panel (also called back wiring) and wiring located on the side of the display panel (also called side wiring). The side wiring can be formed, for example, by applying a conductive paste to the side surface of a substrate such as glass and then firing the paste.

[0012] However, for example, when forming a plurality of wirings according to the pitch of a plurality of pixel units, it is necessary to arrange a plurality of side wirings with a very small line width at a very narrow interval on the side of the substrate. For example, if the pitch of a plurality of pixel units in the display panel is several tens of micrometers (μm) according to the resolution of the display panel, the pitch of the plurality of side wirings will also be several tens of μm. For this reason, for example, the side wiring may break as the side wiring is thinned. In addition, such a break may occur not only in the side wiring but also in general wiring such as the back wiring that supplies a signal to the image display unit from the back side as the side wiring is thinned. And, for example, if a break occurs in the wiring that supplies an image signal to a plurality of pixel units, when an image is displayed on the image display unit, an image signal is not supplied to one column of pixel units, causing a problem of darkening (also called a dark line) or a problem of high brightness (also called a bright line), which may cause a deterioration in image quality.

[0013] Here, even in a display panel having a frameless structure, for example, as described above, it is conceivable to arrange a circuit that connects the image signal line to a pre-arranged spare signal line (also called a spare signal line) near both ends of the image signal line outside the image display unit. However, in such a configuration, if a break occurs in the wiring outside the image display unit, such as on the side or back surface of the substrate, the break cannot be dealt with even if both ends of the image signal line are connected to the spare signal line within the image display unit.

[0014] Therefore, there is room for improvement in the display device in terms of reducing degradation in image quality caused by disconnection of signal lines outside the image display unit.

[0015] Therefore, the inventors of the present disclosure have created a technique for reducing degradation of image quality due to disconnection of signal lines outside an image display unit in a display device.

[0016] In this regard, various embodiments will be described below with reference to the drawings. In the drawings, parts having similar configurations and functions are given the same reference numerals, and duplicated explanations will be omitted in the following description. The drawings are schematic. A right-handed XYZ coordinate system is attached to Figs. 1 to 4. In this XYZ coordinate system, one direction along the first surface 10a of the substrate 10 is the +X direction, one direction perpendicular to the +X direction along the first surface 10a is the +Z direction, and a direction perpendicular to the first surface 10a is the +Y direction.

[0017] <<An example of a tiling display according to each embodiment>> Fig. 1 is a front view showing an example of a tiling display 900 according to each embodiment. The tiling display 900 has, for example, a plurality of display devices 100 arranged in a tiled shape. In the example of Fig. 1, the tiling display 900 has a plurality of display devices 100 arranged in a matrix shape along the XZ plane. Each of the plurality of display devices 100 is, for example, a flat display panel.

[0018] <<An example of a display device according to each embodiment>> Fig. 2 is a side view showing an example of the display device 100 according to each embodiment. Fig. 3 is a rear view showing an example of the display device 100 according to each embodiment. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the display device 100 includes, for example, a substrate 10, an image display unit 20, a driving unit 30, and a plurality of driving signal lines 3.

[0019] The substrate 10 has, for example, a first surface (also called the first main surface) 10a, a second surface (also called the second main surface) 10b, and a plurality of side surfaces 10c. The second surface 10b is the surface opposite to the first surface 10a. The plurality of side surfaces 10c each connect the first surface 10a and the second surface 10b.

[0020] For example, a flat substrate is applied to the substrate 10. For example, a rectangular surface having four sides is applied to each of the first surface 10a and the second surface 10b. In this case, the multiple side surfaces 10c include a first side surface 10c1, a second side surface 10c2, a third side surface 10c3, and a fourth side surface 10c4. The first side surface 10c1 connects the first side E1a of the first surface 10a and the first side E1b of the second surface 10b. In other words, the first side surface 10c1 is a surface having the first side E1a and the first side E1b as two opposing sides. The second side surface 10c2 connects the second side E2a of the first surface 10a and the second side E2b of the second surface 10b. In other words, the second side surface 10c2 is a surface having the second side E2a and the second side E2b as two opposing sides. The third side surface 10c3 connects the third side E3a of the first surface 10a and the third side E3b of the second surface 10b. In other words, the third side surface 10c3 is a surface having the third side E3a and the third side E3b as two opposing sides. The fourth side surface 10c4 connects the fourth side E4a of the first surface 10a and the fourth side E4b of the second surface 10b. In other words, the fourth side surface 10c4 is a surface having the fourth side E4a and the fourth side E4b as two opposing sides. In the example of FIG. 2 and FIG. 3, the first surface 10a is a flat surface along the XZ plane and faces the -Y direction. The second surface 10b is a flat surface along the XZ plane and faces the +Y direction. The first side surface 10c1 faces the +Z direction. The second side surface 10c2 faces the -X direction. The third side surface 10c3 faces the -Z direction. The fourth side surface 10c4 faces the +X direction.

[0021] For example, a glass plate is applied to the substrate 10. The glass plate may be transparent or not. For example, a colored glass substrate, a ground glass substrate, a plastic substrate, a ceramic substrate, a metal substrate, or a composite substrate in which two or more of these substrates are laminated may be applied to the substrate 10.

[0022] The image display unit 20 can display, for example, an image. In other words, when the display device 100 is viewed in plan, the portion where the image is displayed corresponds to the image display unit 20. The image display unit 20 is located, for example, on the first surface 10a side of the substrate 10. The image display unit 20 is located, for example, so as to cover the entire surface of the first surface 10a. In this case, for example, the display device 100 has a structure (also called a frameless structure) in which the image display unit 20 is arranged over the entire surface of one side of the substrate 10 on the first surface 10a side, or a narrow frame structure in which the frame portion is made as narrow as possible.

[0023] The driving unit 30 is located, for example, on the second surface 10b side of the substrate 10. The driving unit 30 can be formed, for example, by mounting a driving element such as an integrated circuit (IC) or a large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) on the second surface 10b of the substrate 10 by a chip-on-glass (COG) method. The driving unit 30 may be, for example, a circuit board on which the driving element is mounted. The driving unit 30 may also be a thin-film circuit (also called a thin-film circuit) including a thin-film transistor (TFT) having a semiconductor layer of low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) formed directly on the second surface 10b of the substrate 10 by a thin-film formation method such as a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method.

[0024] The driving unit 30 may be a driving element disposed on a flexible printed circuit (Flexible Printed Circuit: FPC) connected to a connection terminal formed on the second surface 10b of the substrate 10. In this case, even if the substrate 10 is made smaller, it becomes easy to attach the driving unit 30 to the substrate 10. In addition, the replacement work of the driving element becomes easy.

[0025] The multiple drive signal lines 3 are positioned so as to extend from the second surface 10b of the substrate 10, over the side surface 10c, and to the first surface 10a. Each of the multiple drive signal lines 3 is positioned so as to connect between the drive section 30 on the second surface 10b of the substrate 10 and the image display section 20 on the first surface 10a of the substrate 10. In this case, for example, the multiple drive signal lines 3 each include wiring (also referred to as back surface wiring) located on the second surface 10b of the substrate 10 and wiring (also referred to as side surface wiring) located on the side surface 10c of the substrate 10.

[0026] <<An example of the layout of the components that make up the image display unit>> FIG. 4 is a diagram showing a schematic example of a layout of the components constituting the image display unit 20 in the section IV of the display device 100 in FIG.

[0027] The image display unit 20 includes, for example, a plurality of pixel units 2. For example, when the display device 100 is seen through in a plan view from the image display unit 20 side, the image display unit 20 is configured by a plurality of pixel units 2 arranged in a matrix. In the example of FIG. 4, a plurality of rectangular pixel units 2 are arranged in a tiled manner. More specifically, for example, a column (also called a pixel unit column) C1 of a plurality of pixel units 2 each composed of a plurality of pixel units 2 arranged in a -Z direction as a direction in which a light emission control signal line (also called an image signal line) 5 (see FIG. 5, etc.) exists to extend (also called an image signal line direction or a first extension direction) is arranged in a +X direction as a direction in which a scanning signal line (also called a gate signal line) 6 (see FIG. 5, etc.) exists to extend (also called a scanning line direction or a second extension direction). In other words, for example, a row (also called a pixel unit row) R1 of a plurality of pixel units 2 each composed of a plurality of pixel units 2 arranged in a +X direction as a second extension direction is arranged in a -Z direction as a first extension direction.

[0028] Each of the pixel units 2 includes, for example, a first sub-pixel unit 2r, a second sub-pixel unit 2g, and a third sub-pixel unit 2b. The first sub-pixel unit 2r can emit, for example, a first color light. The second sub-pixel unit 2g can emit, for example, a second color light different from the first color. The third sub-pixel unit 2b can emit, for example, a third color light different from the first color and the second color. For example, red is applied to the first color, green is applied to the second color, and blue is applied to the third color. Each of the first sub-pixel unit 2r, the second sub-pixel unit 2g, and the third sub-pixel unit 2b has, for example, a light-emitting element and a light-emission control unit that controls the light-emitting, non-light-emitting, and light-emitting intensity of the light-emitting element.

[0029] The light-emitting element may be, for example, a micro light-emitting diode (LED) element or an organic electroluminescence (EL) element. The light-emitting element is, for example, located on an insulating layer arranged on the first surface 10a of the substrate 10. The light-emitting element is, for example, electrically connected to the light-emitting control unit, the positive voltage input line, and the negative voltage input line via a through-hole or other penetrating conductor penetrating the insulating layer arranged in the pixel unit 2. The positive electrode of the light-emitting element is, for example, connected to the positive voltage input line via a first penetrating conductor and the light-emitting control unit. The negative electrode of the light-emitting element is, for example, connected to the negative voltage input line via a second penetrating conductor.

[0030] The light emission control unit is disposed between the first surface 10a and an insulating layer located between the light emitting element and the first surface 10a when the display device 100 is seen through in a plan view from the image display unit 20 side. The light emission control unit has, for example, a first transistor, a second transistor, and a capacitive element.

[0031] The first transistor functions as, for example, a switch for inputting a drive signal to the light-emitting element. For example, a P-channel transistor (also called a P-channel transistor) is applied to the first transistor. The gate electrode of the first transistor is connected to a scanning signal line 6 (see FIG. 5, etc.). The source electrode of the first transistor is connected to a light-emission control signal line 5 (see FIG. 5, etc.). The drain electrode of the first transistor is connected to a gate electrode of the second transistor. When an on signal (L (Low) signal: about −3 to 0 V) as a scanning signal from the scanning signal line 6 is input to the gate electrode of the first transistor, the first transistor is brought into a state (also called a conductive state) in which a current can flow between the source electrode and the drain electrode. As a result, for example, a light-emission control signal (L (Low) signal: Vg) from the light-emission control signal line 5 is input to the gate electrode of the second transistor.

[0032] The second transistor functions as a drive element that drives the light emitting element with a current by a potential difference (drive signal) between a positive voltage (anode voltage: about 3 to 5 V) and a negative voltage (cathode voltage: about −3 to 0 V) according to the level (voltage) of the light emitting control signal transmitted from the light emitting control signal line 5. For example, a P-channel transistor or the like is applied to the second transistor. In this case, the source electrode of the second transistor is connected to the positive voltage input line. The drain electrode of the second transistor is connected to the negative voltage input line via the light emitting element. When an L signal as an image signal from the light emitting control signal line 5 is input to the gate electrode of the second transistor, the second transistor becomes conductive. As a result, a drive signal (VDD: about 3 to 5 V) is input from the positive voltage input line to the light emitting element via the second transistor, and the light emitting element emits light. At this time, for example, the light emission intensity (brightness) of the light emitting element can be controlled by controlling the level (voltage) of the image signal (Vg).

[0033] The capacitive element is disposed, for example, on a connection line connecting the gate electrode and source electrode of the second transistor, and functions as a storage capacitor that stores the voltage of the image signal input to the gate electrode of the second transistor for a period (one frame period) until the next image signal is input (also called rewriting).

[0034] The light emission control unit may also have a third transistor disposed between the second transistor and the light emitting element, for example, for controlling the light emission or non-emission of the light emitting element. For example, a P-channel transistor is applied to the third transistor. In this case, the source electrode of the third transistor is connected to the drain electrode of the second transistor. The drain electrode of the third transistor is connected to the positive electrode of the light emitting element. When an L signal is input to the gate electrode of the third transistor as a light emission control signal, the third transistor becomes conductive. As a result, a drive signal (VDD) is input to the light emitting element from the positive voltage input line via the second transistor and the third transistor, causing the light emitting element to emit light.

[0035] The image display unit 20 also includes, for example, an image signal line driver 2h and a scanning signal line driver 2v. The image signal line driver 2h can supply image signals to, for example, the plurality of light emission control signal lines 5. The scanning signal line driver 2v can supply scanning signals to, for example, the plurality of scanning signal lines 6. For example, a shift register or the like is applied to the scanning signal line driver 2v.

[0036] For example, when the display device 100 is viewed in a planar perspective from the image display unit 20 side, each of the multiple pixel units 2 has a region 2s (also called a vacant region) where the first sub-pixel unit 2r, the second sub-pixel unit 2g, and the third sub-pixel unit 2b are not located.

[0037] The image signal line driving section 2h is arranged in a state in which it is divided into a plurality of parts, for example, in the empty area 2s of the plurality of pixel sections 2. For example, the image signal line driving section 2h is arranged in a state in which it is divided into a plurality of parts, in the empty area 2s of the plurality of pixel sections 2 constituting one or more pixel section rows R1 of the image display section 20. In the example of FIG. 4, the image signal line driving section 2h is arranged in a state in which it is divided into a plurality of parts, in the empty area 2s of the plurality of pixel sections 2 constituting two pixel section rows R1 of the image display section 20. More specifically, the image signal line driving section 2h is arranged in a state in which it is divided into a plurality of parts, in the empty area 2s of the plurality of pixel sections 2 of the two pixel section rows R1 located along the end of the image display section 20 in the +Z direction. The image signal line driving section 2h may be arranged in a state in which it is divided into a plurality of parts, for example, in the empty area 2s of the plurality of pixel sections 2 constituting two or more pixel section rows R1 of the image display section 20.

[0038] The scanning signal line driving section 2v is arranged in a state in which it is divided into a plurality of parts in the empty regions 2s of the plurality of pixel sections 2, for example. For example, the scanning signal line driving section 2v is arranged in a state in which it is divided into a plurality of parts in the empty regions 2s of the plurality of pixel sections 2 constituting one or more pixel section columns C1 of the image display section 20. In the example of FIG. 4, the scanning signal line driving section 2v is arranged in a state in which it is divided into a plurality of parts in the empty regions 2s of the plurality of pixel sections 2 constituting two pixel section columns C1 of the image display section 20. More specifically, the scanning signal line driving section 2v is arranged in a state in which it is divided into a plurality of parts in the empty regions 2s of the plurality of pixel sections 2 of the two pixel section columns C1 located along the end of the image display section 20 in the -X direction. The scanning signal line driving section 2v may be arranged in a state in which it is divided into a plurality of parts in the empty regions 2s of the plurality of pixel sections 2 constituting two or more pixel section columns C1 of the image display section 20, for example.

[0039] <1. First embodiment> <1-1. Display device configuration> 5 is a block diagram illustrating an example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the first embodiment. As illustrated in FIG. 5, the display device 100 includes, for example, an image display unit 20, a plurality of drive signal lines 3, and a drive unit 30.

[0040] <<Image display section>> The image display unit 20 includes, for example, a plurality of pixel units 2 and a plurality of light emission control signal lines 5.

[0041] The plurality of pixel units 2 includes, for example, m rows x n columns of pixel units 2. Here, n and m are each a natural number equal to or greater than 4. Here, the plurality of pixel units 2 includes, for example, a plurality of pixel unit rows R1 each composed of n pixel units 2, and a plurality of pixel unit columns C1 each composed of m pixel units 2. In other words, the plurality of pixel units 2 includes m pixel unit rows R1 and n pixel unit columns C1. More specifically, the m pixel unit rows R1 include, for example, a first pixel unit row R11, a second pixel unit row R12, a third pixel unit row R13, . . . , an m-th pixel unit row R1m. The n pixel unit columns C1 include, for example, a first pixel unit column C11, a second pixel unit column C12, a third pixel unit column C13, . . . , an n-th pixel unit column C1n.

[0042] Each of the plurality of light emission control signal lines 5 can supply an image signal to, for example, a column (pixel section column) C1 of the pixel sections 2 among the plurality of pixel sections 2. The plurality of light emission control signal lines 5 can be supplied with an image signal from, for example, the image signal line driver 2h. The plurality of light emission control signal lines 5 include, for example, a first light emission control signal line 5r, a second light emission control signal line 5g, and a third light emission control signal line 5b for each pixel section column C1. The first light emission control signal line 5r can supply an image signal to, for example, the first sub-pixel section 2r. The second light emission control signal line 5g can supply an image signal to, for example, the second sub-pixel section 2g. The third light emission control signal line 5b can supply an image signal to, for example, the third sub-pixel section 2b. In other words, for n pixel section columns C1, there are n groups (also referred to as light emission control signal line groups) 50 of light emission control signal lines 5 each including the first light emission control signal line 5r, the second light emission control signal line 5g, and the third light emission control signal line 5b. More specifically, the n sets of emission control signal line groups 50 include, for example, a first emission control signal line group 501, a second emission control signal line group 502, a third emission control signal line group 503, ..., an n-th emission control signal line group 50n. In other words, the plurality of emission control signal lines 5 include 3 x n emission control signal lines 5. Here, for example, each pixel unit column C1 includes m pixel units 2 aligned along one emission control signal line group 50. For example, the first pixel unit column C11 includes m pixel units 2 aligned along the first emission control signal line group 501. For example, the second pixel unit column C12 includes m pixel units 2 aligned along the second emission control signal line group 502. For example, the third pixel unit column C13 includes m pixel units 2 aligned along the third emission control signal line group 503. For example, the n-th pixel unit column C1n includes m pixel units 2 aligned along the n-th emission control signal line group 50n.

[0043] Here, for example, in one light emission control signal line group 50, the first light emission control signal line 5r may supply image signals to the m first sub-pixel portions 2r in one pixel column C1, the second light emission control signal line 5g may supply image signals to the m second sub-pixel portions 2g in one pixel column C1, and the third light emission control signal line 5b may supply image signals to the m third sub-pixel portions 2b in one pixel column C1. More specifically, for example, in the first light emission control signal line group 501, the first light emission control signal line 5r may supply image signals to the m first sub-pixel portions 2r in the first pixel column C11, the second light emission control signal line 5g may supply image signals to the m second sub-pixel portions 2g in the first pixel column C11, and the third light emission control signal line 5b may supply image signals to the m third sub-pixel portions 2b in the first pixel column C11. For example, in the second light-emission control signal line group 502, the first light-emission control signal line 5r may supply image signals to the m first sub-pixel portions 2r of the second pixel portion column C12, the second light-emission control signal line 5g may supply image signals to the m second sub-pixel portions 2g of the second pixel portion column C12, and the third light-emission control signal line 5b may supply image signals to the m third sub-pixel portions 2b of the second pixel portion column C12. For example, in the third light-emission control signal line group 503, the first light-emission control signal line 5r may supply image signals to the m first sub-pixel portions 2r of the third pixel portion column C13, the second light-emission control signal line 5g may supply image signals to the m second sub-pixel portions 2g of the third pixel portion column C13, and the third light-emission control signal line 5b may supply image signals to the m third sub-pixel portions 2b of the third pixel portion column C13. For example, in the nth emission control signal line group 50n, the first emission control signal line 5r can supply image signals to the m first sub-pixel portions 2r of the nth pixel portion column C1n, the second emission control signal line 5g can supply image signals to the m second sub-pixel portions 2g of the nth pixel portion column C1n, and the third emission control signal line 5b can supply image signals to the m third sub-pixel portions 2b of the nth pixel portion column C1n.

[0044] The image display unit 20 also includes, for example, a plurality of scanning signal lines 6. Each of the plurality of scanning signal lines 6 can supply a scanning signal to, for example, a row (pixel unit row) R1 of the pixel units 2 among the plurality of pixel units 2. The plurality of scanning signal lines 6 can be supplied with a scanning signal in a time-sequential (line-sequential) manner from, for example, the scanning signal line driving unit 2v. The plurality of scanning signal lines 6 include, for example, m scanning signal lines 6. More specifically, the plurality of scanning signal lines 6 include, for example, a first scanning signal line 61, a second scanning signal line 62, a third scanning signal line 63, . . . , an m-th scanning signal line 6m. Here, for example, each pixel unit row R1 includes n pixel units 2 aligned along one scanning signal line 6. For example, the first pixel unit row R11 includes n pixel units 2 aligned along the first scanning signal line 61. For example, the second pixel unit row R12 includes n pixel units 2 aligned along the second scanning signal line 62. For example, the third pixel section row R13 includes n pixel sections 2 arranged along the third scanning signal line 63. For example, the m-th pixel section row R1m includes n pixel sections 2 arranged along the m-th scanning signal line 6m. Here, for example, the first scanning signal line 61 can supply scanning signals to the n pixel sections 2 in the first pixel section row R11. For example, the second scanning signal line 62 can supply scanning signals to the n pixel sections 2 in the second pixel section row R12. For example, the third scanning signal line 63 can supply scanning signals to the n pixel sections 2 in the third pixel section row R13. For example, the m-th scanning signal line 6m can supply scanning signals to the n pixel sections 2 in the m-th pixel section row R1m. In the first embodiment, for example, in each pixel section 2, a scanning signal can be supplied to each of the first sub-pixel section 2r, the second sub-pixel section 2g, and the third sub-pixel section 2b by one scanning signal line 6.

[0045] <<Drive signal line>> The multiple drive signal lines 3 can supply image signals to each of the multiple light emission control signal lines 5, for example. The multiple drive signal lines 3 include, for example, n drive signal lines 3. More specifically, the multiple drive signal lines 3 include, for example, a first drive signal line 31, a second drive signal line 32, a third drive signal line 33, . . . , an n-th drive signal line 3n. Here, for example, the first drive signal line 31 can supply image signals to each of the first light emission control signal line 5r, the second light emission control signal line 5g, and the third light emission control signal line 5b located along the first pixel section column C11. For example, the second drive signal line 32 can supply image signals to each of the first light emission control signal line 5r, the second light emission control signal line 5g, and the third light emission control signal line 5b located along the second pixel section column C12. For example, the third drive signal line 33 can supply image signals to the first light-emission control signal line 5r, the second light-emission control signal line 5g, and the third light-emission control signal line 5b located along the third pixel section column C13. For example, the n-th drive signal line 3n can supply image signals to the first light-emission control signal line 5r, the second light-emission control signal line 5g, and the third light-emission control signal line 5b located along the n-th pixel section column C1n.

[0046] Each of the multiple driving signal lines 3 includes, for example, a first wiring portion 3b, a second wiring portion 3c, and a third wiring portion 3a. The first wiring portion 3b is a portion located on the second surface 10b (also referred to as a back surface wiring portion). The second wiring portion 3c is a portion located on the side surface 10c (also referred to as a side surface wiring portion). The third wiring portion 3a is a portion located on the first surface 10a (also referred to as a front surface wiring portion). The first wiring portion 3b is connected to, for example, the driving unit 30. In each driving signal line 3, for example, the first wiring portion 3b, the second wiring portion 3c, and the third wiring portion 3a are connected in series in the order described above. More specifically, for example, the first wiring portion 3b is connected to a first connection portion having conductivity arranged in a portion along the side surface 10c on the second surface 10b. For example, the second wiring portion 3c is connected to the first connection portion and is connected to a second connection portion having conductivity arranged in a portion along the side surface 10c on the first surface 10a. For example, the third wiring portion 3a is connected to the second connection portion. In this case, for example, in each driving signal line 3, the first wiring portion 3b, the first connection portion, the second wiring portion 3c, the second connection portion, and the third wiring portion 3a are connected in the order described above. For example, a conductor pad (also called a conductor pad) is applied to each of the first connection portion and the second connection portion. For example, a conductor material such as copper (Cu), aluminum (Al), silver (Ag), or gold (Au) is applied as the material of this conductor pad. The conductor pad can be formed by, for example, a thin film formation method such as a plating method, a vapor deposition method, or a CVD method, or a thick film formation method in which a conductive paste is applied by a printing method and then baked. The conductive paste contains, for example, particles of a conductive material, an uncured resin component, an alcohol solvent, and water.

[0047] For example, the second wiring portion 3c can be formed by subjecting the conductive paste applied to the side surface 10c in a desired pattern to a process of drying and baking by heating, a process of curing by heating, a process of curing by irradiating light such as ultraviolet light, or a process of curing by heating and irradiating light. The second wiring portion 3c may be formed by a thin film formation method such as a plating method, a vapor deposition method, or a CVD method. Here, for example, if a groove extending from the first surface 10a to the second surface 10b exists in the portion of the side surface 10c of the substrate 10 where the second wiring portion 3c is to be disposed, the conductive paste can be easily applied to the groove, which is the desired region on the side surface 10c.

[0048] The second wiring portion 3c may be wider and / or thicker than both the first wiring portion 3b and the third wiring portion 3a. For example, as shown in FIG. 6, among the first wiring portion 3b, the second wiring portion 3c (side wiring portion), and the third wiring portion 3a constituting the drive signal line 3, the width of the second wiring portion 3c may be greater than the widths of the first wiring portion 3b and the third wiring portion 3a. In this case, since the second wiring portion 3c is formed by applying and baking a conductive paste, the resistance of the second wiring portion 3c is likely to be greater than the resistances of the first wiring portion 3b and the third wiring portion 3a that can be formed by a thin film formation method, if the thickness is the same. Therefore, it is easy to prevent the resistance of the second wiring portion 3c from increasing and to match the resistances of the first wiring portion 3b and the third wiring portion 3a. That is, it is possible to prevent an increase in the connection resistance (contact resistance) between the second wiring portion 3c and the first wiring portion 3b and the third wiring portion 3a. In this case, the adhesive strength of the second wiring portion 3c formed by applying and firing the conductive paste to the first connection portion (pad) and the second connection portion (pad) can be increased. The width of the second wiring portion 3c may be more than 1 time and not more than about 5 times the width of each of the first wiring portion 3b and the third wiring portion 3a, but is not limited to this range. For the same purpose, when the widths of the first wiring portion 3b, the second wiring portion 3c, and the third wiring portion 3a are the same, the thickness of the second wiring portion 3c may be thicker than the thicknesses of the first wiring portion 3b and the third wiring portion 3a. The thickness of the second wiring portion 3c may be more than 1 time and not more than about 10 times the thickness of each of the first wiring portion 3b and the third wiring portion 3a, but is not limited to this range. In this case, the mechanical strength of the second wiring portion 3c formed by applying and firing the conductive paste can be increased.

[0049] The width of the second wiring portion 3c may be equal to or greater than the width of each of the first and second connection portions. In this case, the adhesion strength between the second wiring portion 3c and each of the first and second connection portions is improved and the connection resistance is lowered. The second wiring portion 3c may cover each of the first and second connection portions. In this case, the adhesion strength between the second wiring portion 3c and each of the first and second connection portions is further improved and the connection resistance is further lowered.

[0050] For the same purpose, the second wiring portion 3c may be wider and thicker than both the first wiring portion 3b and the third wiring portion 3a. Furthermore, for the same purpose, the second wiring portion 3c may be shorter than both the first wiring portion 3b and the third wiring portion 3a. If the second wiring portion 3c has the same width and thickness as both the first wiring portion 3b and the third wiring portion 3a, the above configuration is more effective.

[0051] The second wiring portion 3c may be covered with a protective layer. In this case, the wear resistance of the second wiring portion 3c and the adhesive strength to the first connection portion and the second connection portion can be increased. The material of the protective layer may be a resin such as an acrylic resin or a polycarbonate resin, or an inorganic compound such as silicon oxide (SiO2) or silicon nitride (Si3N4). The protective layer may contain a black component having electrical conductivity such as carbon particles. In this case, the electrical conductivity of the second wiring portion 3c is improved, and the narrow frame portion between the end of the first surface 10a and the image display unit 20 becomes less noticeable. The protective layer covering a certain second wiring portion 3c and the protective layer covering the second wiring portion 3c adjacent to the certain second wiring portion 3c may not be in contact with each other. In this case, if the protective layer is conductive, it is possible to prevent a certain second wiring portion 3c and the second wiring portion 3c adjacent thereto from being short-circuited. Furthermore, if the protective layer is not conductive, the protective layer covering a certain second wiring portion 3c and the protective layer covering a second wiring portion 3c adjacent to that certain second wiring portion 3c may be in contact with each other or may be continuous with each other.

[0052] 5, the first wiring portion 3b is connected to the driving unit 30 located at the center of the second surface 10b of the substrate 10, and therefore the length of the first wiring portion 3b may be longer than the length of the third wiring portion 3a. In this case, if the material of the first wiring portion 3b and the material of the third wiring portion 3a are the same, the first wiring portion 3b may be configured to be wider and / or thicker than the third wiring portion 3a. With this configuration, the resistance of the first wiring portion 3b is reduced, thereby reducing the resistance of the drive signal line 3.

[0053] Since the first wiring portion 3b is connected to the driving unit 30 located at the center of the second surface 10b of the substrate 10, the length of the first wiring portion 3b may be longer than the length of the third wiring portion 3a. In this case, the first wiring portion 3b may be configured to be linear. In this configuration, the length of the first wiring portion 3b can be minimized, and the resistance of the first wiring portion 3b can be reduced.

[0054] The first wiring portion 3b may have a lower resistivity (resistivity) than the third wiring portion 3a. The electrical conductivity of various metals and alloys expressed in International Annealed Copper Standard (IACS%), which is the conductivity (reciprocal of resistivity) when the resistivity of soft copper, 16.78nΩm (nano-ohm-meter), is set to 100, is shown below. Silver (105.7%), soft copper (100.0%), gold (75.8%), aluminum (59.5%), tungsten (31.8%), molybdenum (31.4%), zinc (28.4%), nickel (24.2%), indium (20.0%), iron (17.5%), platinum (16.0%), palladium (15.9%), tin (14.6%), niobium (11.0%), titanium (4.0%), chromium-copper alloy (71.0 to 83.0%), copper-manganese-nickel alloy (34.8%), copper-zinc alloy (26.0 to 43.0%). For example, the material of the first wiring portion 3b may be silver, and the material of the third wiring portion 3a may be soft copper or aluminum. The material of the first wiring portion 3b may be soft copper, and the material of the third wiring portion 3a may be aluminum. The material of the first wiring portion 3b may be aluminum, and the material of the third wiring portion 3a may be molybdenum.

[0055] The driving unit 30 can, for example, supply an image signal to each of the multiple driving signal lines 3. In other words, the driving unit 30 can, for example, supply an image signal to each of the multiple light emission control signal lines 5 via the multiple driving signal lines 3.

[0056] The image display unit 20 also includes, for example, a plurality of switching units 7. The plurality of switching units 7 are included in the image signal line driving unit 2h. For example, one switching unit 7 is connected to each of the plurality of driving signal lines 3. In other words, for example, one switching unit 7 is connected to each of the plurality of driving signal lines 3. The plurality of switching units 7 include, for example, n switching units 7. More specifically, the n switching units 7 include, for example, a first switching unit 71, a second switching unit 72, a third switching unit 73, . . . , an n-th switching unit 7n. The first switching unit 71 is connected to, for example, the first driving signal line 31, and can be set to a state in which an image signal can be supplied from the first driving signal line 31 to the first light emission control signal line 5r, the second light emission control signal line 5g, and the third light emission control signal line 5b in the first light emission control signal line group 501. The second switching unit 72 may be set to a state in which, for example, the second drive signal line 32 is connected and an image signal can be supplied from the second drive signal line 32 to the first light emission control signal line 5r, the second light emission control signal line 5g, and the third light emission control signal line 5b in the second light emission control signal line group 502. The third switching unit 73 may be set to a state in which, for example, the third drive signal line 33 is connected and an image signal can be supplied from the third drive signal line 33 to the first light emission control signal line 5r, the second light emission control signal line 5g, and the third light emission control signal line 5b in the third light emission control signal line group 503. The nth switching unit 7n may be set to a state in which, for example, the nth drive signal line 3n is connected and an image signal can be supplied from the nth drive signal line 3n to the first light emission control signal line 5r, the second light emission control signal line 5g, and the third light emission control signal line 5b in the nth light emission control signal line group 50n.

[0057] Further, to each of the multiple switching units 7, for example, in addition to one normal drive signal line (also referred to as a normal drive signal line) 3 among the multiple drive signal lines 3, at least one or more other drive signal lines (also referred to as separate drive signal lines) 3 different from the one normal drive signal line 3 are connected. In other words, for example, at least one normal drive signal line 3 and one or more separate drive signal lines 3 are connected to the corresponding light emission control signal line 5 via the switching unit 7. That is, one switching unit 7 may be configured to operate so that at least one of the one normal drive signal line 3 and the one or more separate drive signal lines 3 is conductively connected to the corresponding light emission control signal line 5. Each of the multiple switching units 7 can be set to a conductive state (also referred to as a first conductive state) in which an image signal can be supplied to the corresponding light emission control signal line 5 among the multiple light emission control signal lines 5 from the driving unit 30 via the one normal drive signal line 3. Further, each of the multiple switching units 7 can be set to a conductive state (also referred to as a second conductive state) in which an image signal can be supplied to the corresponding light emission control signal line 5 among the multiple light emission control signal lines 5 from the driving unit 30 via one or more separate driving signal lines 3 different from the normal driving signal line 3. Therefore, each of the multiple switching units 7 can be selectively set to, for example, either a first conductive state or a second conductive state. Thereby, for example, when the normal driving signal line 3 for supplying an image signal to the light emission control signal line 5 is disconnected, the switching unit 7 arranged in the image display unit 20 can supply an image signal to the light emission control signal line 5 via the separate driving signal line 3. As a result, for example, in the display device 100, a defect in which the image signal is not supplied and the pixel unit column C1 becomes dark (dark line) or becomes bright (bright line) is unlikely to occur. Therefore, for example, in the display device 100, a deterioration in image quality due to a disconnection of the driving signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 can be reduced.

[0058] Each of the multiple switching units 7 can be selectively set to at least one of a first conduction state and a second conduction state. In other words, each of the multiple switching units 7 can be set to a plurality of conduction states, including the first conduction state and the second conduction state, as long as they are settable. For example, one switching unit 7 may select a conduction state (e.g., a third conduction state) in which multiple image signals can be simultaneously supplied from the driving unit 30 to the corresponding light emission control signal line 5 via the multiple normal drive signal lines 3. In this case, a dithering effect can be imparted to the corresponding light emission control signal line 5 by performing a logical operation on the multiple image signals and inputting the result to the corresponding light emission control signal line 5, thereby suppressing the occurrence of a large drop in signal strength between the light emission control signal lines 5. The logical operation can be implemented by adopting a configuration in which a logic circuit unit that reduces the signal strength difference between the multiple image signals is provided between the driving unit 30 and the normal drive signal line 3. Furthermore, one switching unit 7 may select a conduction state (e.g., a fourth conduction state) in which an inspection signal can be supplied from the driving unit 30 to the corresponding light emission control signal line 5 via an inspection signal line different from the normal driving signal line 3 and the separate driving signal line 3. In this case, before the display device is shipped as a product, the conduction state of each driving signal line 3 is inspected, and display devices having driving signal lines 3 that do not provide the desired luminance corresponding to a predetermined image signal and driving signal lines 3 that are blank even when a predetermined image signal is input can be excluded, thereby improving the manufacturing yield. As a result, for example, when a composite display (multi-display) is configured by arranging a plurality of display devices in a tiled shape, a defective display device as one part can be excluded in advance.

[0059] Also, for example, one normal drive signal line 3 and one or more separate drive signal lines 3 may be connected to one or more corresponding light-emission control signal lines 5 via a switching unit 7. In other words, one switching unit 7 may operate so that one of one normal drive signal line 3 and one or more separate drive signal lines 3 is conductively connected to one or more corresponding light-emission control signal lines 5.

[0060] In the first embodiment, for example, the one or more separate drive signal lines 3 are one or more drive signal lines 3 among the multiple drive signal lines 3. As a result, for example, in the display device 100, even if a spare drive signal line (also called a redundant drive signal line) is not provided in addition to the n normal drive signal lines 3, the degradation of image quality due to disconnection of the drive signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 can be reduced. As a result, for example, the layout of the circuit and wiring in the display device 100 is unlikely to become complicated. In addition, for example, the risk of disconnection of the redundant drive signal line is unlikely to occur. In addition, for example, when the image to be displayed in the display device 100 is high definition, it is not noticeable that the multiple pixel units 2 that originally emit light according to the image signal supplied from the drive unit 30 via the normal drive signal line 3 emit light according to the image signal supplied from the drive unit 30 via the separate drive signal line 3.

[0061] Here, for example, if one or more separate driving signal lines 3 are one of the multiple driving signal lines 3, the layout of the circuit and wiring in the display device 100 is unlikely to be complicated. In the example of FIG. 5, one normal driving signal line 3 and one separate driving signal line 3 are connected to each of the multiple switching units 7. More specifically, for example, the first switching unit 71 is connected to the first driving signal line 31 as one normal driving signal line 3, and the second driving signal line 32 as one separate driving signal line 3 is connected via the connection wiring W1. For example, the second switching unit 72 is connected to the second driving signal line 32 as one normal driving signal line 3, and the third driving signal line 33 as one separate driving signal line 3 is connected via the connection wiring W1. The (n-1)th switching section 7(n-1) not shown in the figure is connected to, for example, the (n-1)th driving signal line 3(n-1) as one normal driving signal line 3, and the nth driving signal line 3n as one separate driving signal line 3 through the connection wiring W1. The nth switching section 7n may be connected to, for example, the nth driving signal line 3n as one normal driving signal line 3, and the (n-1)th driving signal line 3(n-1) not shown in the figure as one separate driving signal line 3 through the connection wiring W1. Here, for example, for each of the multiple switching sections 7, one separate driving signal line 3 connected to the switching section 7 is a driving signal line 3 located next to one normal driving signal line 3 connected to the switching section 7 among the multiple driving signal lines 3. In other words, for example, one normal driving signal line 3 and one separate driving signal line 3 connected to each switching section 7 are two normal driving signal lines 3 for two pixel section columns C1 adjacent to each other. As a result, for example, when the normal drive signal line 3 is disconnected, a plurality of pixel units 2 that normally emit light in response to an image signal supplied from the drive unit 30 via the normal drive signal line 3 can emit light with approximately the same luminance as the adjacent pixel units 2. As a result, the plurality of pixel units 2 become less noticeable.

[0062] Moreover, the image display unit 20 includes, for example, a plurality of selector units 8. The plurality of selector units 8 are included in the image signal line driving unit 2h. For example, one selector unit 8 is connected to each of the plurality of switching units 7 via the connection wiring 4. In other words, for example, one selector unit 8 is connected to each of the plurality of switching units 7 via the connection wiring 4. The plurality of selector units 8 include, for example, n selector units 8. More specifically, the n selector units 8 include, for example, a first selector unit 81, a second selector unit 82, a third selector unit 83, . . . , an nth selector unit 8n. For example, the first selector unit 81 is connected to the first switching unit 71. For example, the second selector unit 82 is connected to the second switching unit 72. For example, the third selector unit 83 is connected to the third switching unit 73. For example, the nth selector unit 8n is connected to the nth switching unit 7n. Also, for example, the first light emission control signal line 5r, the second light emission control signal line 5g, and the third light emission control signal line 5b are connected to each of the multiple selector sections 8. From another perspective, for example, one selector section 8 is arranged for each of the multiple pixel section columns C1. More specifically, for example, the first selector section 81 is connected to the first light emission control signal line 5r, the second light emission control signal line 5g, and the third light emission control signal line 5b located along the first pixel section column C11. For example, the second selector section 82 is connected to the first light emission control signal line 5r, the second light emission control signal line 5g, and the third light emission control signal line 5b located along the second pixel section column C12. The third selector section 83 is connected to the first light emission control signal line 5r, the second light emission control signal line 5g, and the third light emission control signal line 5b located along the third pixel section column C13. The nth selector section 8n is connected to the first light-emission control signal line 5r, the second light-emission control signal line 5g, and the third light-emission control signal line 5b located along the nth pixel section column C1n.

[0063] Each of the selector units 8 can be set in a time-division manner to, for example, a state in which an image signal is supplied from the switching unit 7 to the first light emission control signal line 5r, a state in which an image signal is supplied from the switching unit 7 to the second light emission control signal line 5g, and a state in which an image signal is supplied from the switching unit 7 to the third light emission control signal line 5b. The selector unit 8 is configured to have, for example, three transfer gate elements (also called TG elements). In this case, for example, the three TG elements include a first TG element, a second TG element, and a third TG element. The first TG element is located on the wiring connecting the switching unit 7 and the first light emission control signal line 5r. The second TG element is located on the wiring connecting the switching unit 7 and the second light emission control signal line 5g. The third TG element is located on the wiring connecting the switching unit 7 and the third light emission control signal line 5b. The TG element has a configuration in which a P-channel transistor and an N-channel transistor (also called an N-channel transistor) are connected in parallel so that the source electrode and the drain electrode are common. In the TG element, for example, when a low potential L signal as a first potential is input to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor and a high potential H signal as a second potential is input to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor, the TG element is brought into a state (conductive state) in which a current can flow between the source electrode and the drain electrode. In the selector unit 8, for example, an L signal is input to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor and an H signal is input to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor in a time-division manner for the first TG element, the second TG element, and the third TG element. As a result, for example, the selector unit 8 can be set in a time-division manner to a state in which an image signal is supplied from the switching unit 7 to the first light-emission control signal line 5r, a state in which an image signal is supplied from the switching unit 7 to the second light-emission control signal line 5g, and a state in which an image signal is supplied from the switching unit 7 to the third light-emission control signal line 5b.

[0064] Further, the image display unit 20 includes, for example, a plurality of switching setting units 9. The plurality of switching setting units 9 are included in the image signal line driving unit 2h. One switching setting unit 9 is connected to each of the plurality of switching units 7. In other words, one switching setting unit 9 is connected to each of the plurality of switching units 7. For example, one switching setting unit 9 is connected to each of the plurality of switching units 7 via the connection wiring W2. In other words, for example, one switching setting unit 9 is connected to each of the plurality of switching units 7 via the connection wiring W2. The plurality of switching setting units 9 include, for example, n switching setting units 9. More specifically, the n plurality of switching setting units 9 include, for example, a first switching setting unit 91, a second switching setting unit 92, a third switching setting unit 93, ..., an nth switching setting unit 9n. For example, the first switching unit 71 is connected to the first switching unit 71. For example, the second switching unit 92 is connected to the second switching unit 72. For example, the third switching unit 73 is connected to the third switching setting unit 93. For example, the nth switching unit 7n is connected to the nth switching setting unit 9n.

[0065] Each of the multiple switching setting units 9 can selectively provide, for example, one of the first and second signals to one switching unit 7 connected to the switching setting unit 9 among the multiple switching units 7. More specifically, for example, the first switching setting unit 91 can selectively provide, for example, one of the first and second signals to the first switching unit 71. For example, the second switching setting unit 92 can selectively provide, for example, one of the first and second signals to the second switching unit 72. For example, the third switching setting unit 93 can selectively provide, for example, one of the first and second signals to the third switching unit 73. For example, the n-th switching setting unit 9n can selectively provide, for example, one of the first and second signals to the n-th switching unit 7n. In contrast, for example, each of the multiple switching units 7 is set to a first conductive state by the application of a first signal from one of the multiple switching setting units 9 connected to the switching unit 7, and is set to a second conductive state by the application of a second signal from one of the multiple switching setting units 9 connected to the switching unit 7. More specifically, for example, the first switching unit 71 is set to a first conductive state by the application of a first signal from the first switching setting unit 91, and is set to a second conductive state by the application of a second signal from the first switching setting unit 91. For example, the second switching unit 72 is set to a first conductive state by the application of a first signal from the second switching setting unit 92, and is set to a second conductive state by the application of a second signal from the second switching setting unit 92. For example, the third switching unit 73 is set to a first conductive state by the application of a first signal from the third switching setting unit 93, and is set to a second conductive state by the application of a second signal from the third switching setting unit 93. For example, the n-th switching unit 7n is set to a first conductive state by application of a first signal from the n-th switching setting unit 9n, and is set to a second conductive state by application of a second signal from the n-th switching setting unit 9n. In the first embodiment, for example, a low potential L signal is applied to the first signal, and a high potential H signal is applied to the second signal.

[0066] <1-2. An example of a switching unit and a switching setting unit> Fig. 7 is a circuit diagram showing an example of the switching unit 7 and the switching setting unit 9. Fig. 7 illustrates an x-th switching unit 7x that is the x-th (x is a natural number from 1 to n-1) switching unit 7 and an x-th switching setting unit 9x that is the x-th switching setting unit 9.

[0067] <<Switching section>> As shown in FIG. 7, the switching section 7 has, for example, a first gate portion 7G1, a second gate portion 7G2, a third gate portion 7G3, and a signal input section 7I.

[0068] The first gate portion 7G1 is located on a wiring that connects, for example, an x-th drive signal line 3x, which is the x-th drive signal line 3, and an x-th selector section 8x, which is the x-th selector section 8. The first gate portion 7G1 can be set to a conductive state that allows the image signal Sx to be supplied from the x-th drive signal line 3x to the light emission control signal line 5 in the x-th light emission control signal line group 50x in response to the input of, for example, one or more specific signals. For example, a transfer gate element (TG element) is applied to the first gate portion 7G1. In this case, a first electrode on the input side of the first gate portion 7G1 is connected to the x-th drive signal line 3x, and a second electrode on the output side of the first gate portion 7G1 is connected to the light emission control signal line 5 via the x-th selector section 8x. The TG element has a configuration in which a P-channel transistor and an N-channel transistor (also called an N-channel transistor) are connected in parallel so that the source electrode and the drain electrode are common. In the first gate portion 7G1, for example, when a low potential signal (L signal) is input to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor and a high potential signal (H signal) is input to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor, a state (conductive state) in which a current can flow between the first electrode and the second electrode is established. At this time, for example, an image signal Sx can be supplied from the xth drive signal line 3x to the light emission control signal line 5 in the xth light emission control signal line group 50x via the first gate portion 7G1.

[0069] The second gate portion 7G2 is located, for example, on the wiring that connects the (x+1)th drive signal line 3(x+1), which is the x+1th drive signal line 3, and the xth selector section 8x. Second gate part 7G2 can be set to a conductive state in which an image signal S(x+1) can be supplied from the (x+1)th drive signal line 3(x+1) to the light emission control signal line 5 in the xth light emission control signal line group 50x in response to the input of, for example, one or more specific signals. A transfer gate element (TG element), for example, is applied to the second gate portion 7G2. In this case, a third electrode on the input side of the second gate portion 7G2 is connected to the (x+1)th drive signal line 3(x+1), and a fourth electrode on the output side of the second gate portion 7G2 is connected to the light emission control signal line 5 via the xth selector unit 8x. In the second gate portion 7G2, when a low potential signal (L signal) is input to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor and a high potential signal (H signal) is input to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor, the second gate portion 7G2 is brought into a state (conductive state) in which a current can flow between the third electrode and the fourth electrode. At this time, for example, an image signal S(x+1) can be supplied from the (x+1)th drive signal line 3(x+1) to the emission control signal line 5 in the xth emission control signal line group 50x via the second gate portion 7G2.

[0070] The signal input unit 7I is, for example, a portion to which a signal is input from the outside of the switching unit 7. In the first embodiment, a signal is input from the switching setting unit 9 to the signal input unit 7I. The signal input unit 7I is connected, for example, to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor of the first gate portion 7G1 and the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor of the second gate portion 7G2. The signal input unit 7I is also connected, for example, to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor of the first gate portion 7G1 and the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor of the second gate portion 7G2 via the third gate portion 7G3. Therefore, for example, a signal input to the signal input unit 7I is applied to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor of the first gate portion 7G1, the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor of the second gate portion 7G2, and the input side portion of the third gate portion 7G3.

[0071] The third gate portion 7G3 is disposed on a wiring that connects, for example, the signal input portion 7I with the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor of the first gate portion 7G1 and the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor of the second gate portion 7G2. In other words, the third gate portion 7G3 is located between the signal input portion 7I and the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor of the first gate portion 7G1, and is also located between the signal input portion 7I and the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor of the second gate portion 7G2. For this reason, for example, the input side portion of the third gate portion 7G3 is connected to the signal input portion 7I, and the output side portion of the third gate portion 7G3 is connected to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor of the first gate portion 7G1 and the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor of the second gate portion 7G2. For example, a NOT gate that inverts the logical level of the voltage of a signal input to the input side and outputs it from the output side is applied to the third gate portion 7G3. For example, when an L signal is input to the signal input portion 7I, the third gate portion 7G3 inverts the L signal, converts it to an H signal, and applies this H signal to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor in the first gate portion 7G1 and to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor in the second gate portion 7G2. Also, for example, when an H signal is input to the signal input portion 7I, the third gate portion 7G3 inverts the H signal, converts it to an L signal, and applies this L signal to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor in the first gate portion 7G1 and to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor in the second gate portion 7G2.

[0072] Here, in the xth switching section 7x having the above configuration, for example, a case where an L signal is input to the signal input section 7I is assumed. In this case, for example, in the first gate portion 7G1, an L signal is input to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor, and an H signal is input to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor. As a result, for example, the first gate portion 7G1 is in a state (conductive state) in which a current can flow between the first electrode and the second electrode. For example, in the second gate portion 7G2, an H signal is input to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor, and an L signal is input to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor. As a result, for example, the second gate portion 7G2 is in a state (also called a non-conductive state) in which a current does not flow between the third electrode and the fourth electrode. As a result, for example, the xth switching section 7x is set to a state (first conductive state) in which the image signal Sx can be supplied to the light emission control signal line 5 in the xth light emission control signal line group 50x from the xth drive signal line 3x via the first gate portion 7G1.

[0073] Also, in the xth switching section 7x having the above configuration, for example, a case where an H signal is input to the signal input section 7I is assumed. In this case, for example, in the first gate portion 7G1, an H signal is input to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor, and an L signal is input to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor. As a result, for example, the first gate portion 7G1 is in a state where no current flows between the first electrode and the second electrode (non-conductive state). For example, in the second gate portion 7G2, an L signal is input to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor, and an H signal is input to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor. As a result, for example, the second gate portion 7G2 is in a state where a current can flow between the third electrode and the fourth electrode (conductive state). As a result, for example, the xth switching section 7x is set to a state (second conductive state) where the image signal S(x+1) can be supplied to the emission control signal line 5 in the xth emission control signal line group 50x from the (x+1)th drive signal line 3(x+1) via the second gate portion 7G2.

[0074] For this reason, for example, the xth switching unit 7x is set to the first conductive state by the application of an L signal as the first signal from the xth switching setting unit 9x, and is set to the second conductive state by the application of an H signal as the second signal from the xth switching setting unit 9x. In other words, for example, each of the multiple switching units 7 is set to the first conductive state by the application of an L signal as the first signal from one of the multiple switching setting units 9 connected to the switching unit 7, and is set to the second conductive state by the application of an H signal as the second signal from one of the multiple switching setting units 9 connected to the switching unit 7.

[0075] <<Switching settings section>> As shown in FIG. 7, the switch setting section 9 has, for example, a first circuit section 9C1, a second circuit section 9C2, a signal input section 9I, and a signal output section 9U.

[0076] The signal input unit 9I is a portion to which a signal is input from outside the switch setting unit 9. For example, a signal is input to the signal input unit 9I from the drive unit 30 via a predetermined wiring.

[0077] For example, a CMOS NOT circuit is applied as an inversion logic circuit to the first circuit section 9C1. In the CMOS NOT circuit, for example, a P-channel transistor and an N-channel transistor are connected in series between a positive power supply line that applies a positive potential VGH and a negative power supply line that applies a negative potential VGL. The negative potential VGL may be, for example, a reference potential (GND) or 0 volts. More specifically, the source electrode of the P-channel transistor is connected to the positive power supply line, the drain electrode of the P-channel transistor is connected to the drain electrode of the N-channel transistor, and the source electrode of the N-channel transistor is connected to the negative power supply line. In the CMOS NOT circuit, a portion where the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor and the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor are connected is an input section (also called a first input section), and a portion where the drain electrode of the P-channel transistor and the drain electrode of the N-channel transistor are connected is an output section (also called a first output section). This CMOS NOT circuit can invert the logical level of the voltage of a signal input to the first input section and output a signal from the first output section. The first input section of the CMOS NOT circuit is connected to the signal input section 9I. Therefore, when an L signal is input from the signal input section 9I to the first input section, the first circuit section 9C1 outputs an H signal from the first output section, and when an H signal is input from the signal input section 9I to the first input section, the first circuit section 9C1 can output an L signal from the first output section. In addition, the first circuit section 9C1 includes, for example, a specific wiring section (also referred to as a specific wiring section) 9P on a wiring that connects the source electrode of the N-channel transistor and the negative power supply line. In this case, for example, each of the multiple switching setting sections 9 includes the specific wiring section 9P. The specific wiring section 9P is a section that is subject to cutting, which will be described later. If the specific wiring section 9P is located on an insulating layer arranged on the first surface 10a of the substrate 10, for example, it can be easily cut by melting with irradiation of a laser beam, mechanical cutting using a grinding device, or chemical cutting using etching. That is, the specific wiring portion 9P is a fixed conductive / non-conductive selection portion that can be fixed to either a conductive state or a non-conductive state.

[0078] The second circuit section 9C2 has, for example, a buffer circuit section 9B having two cascaded NOT gates 9N1 and 9N2, and a wiring section 9W connected in parallel to the buffer circuit section 9B. The second circuit section 9C2 also has, for example, an input section (also called a second input section) connected to the first output section of the first circuit section 9C1, and an output section (second output section) connected to the signal output section 9U. The buffer circuit section 9B can stabilize and correct the voltage level of a signal input from the first output section to the second input section of the first circuit section 9C1, and output the stabilized and corrected signal. For example, when an L signal is input from the first circuit section 9C1 to the second input section, the second circuit section 9C2 can output a corrected L signal from the second output section, and when an H signal is input from the first circuit section 9C1 to the second input section, the second circuit section 9C2 can output a stabilized and corrected H signal from the second output section.

[0079] Here, in the xth switch setting unit 9x having the above configuration, for example, a case is assumed in which an L signal is input to the signal input unit 9I. In this case, the first circuit unit 9C1 inverts the L signal to output an H signal, and the second circuit unit 9C2 outputs a stabilized and corrected H signal. As a result, the signal output unit 9U outputs an H signal to the signal input unit 7I of the xth switch unit 7x.

[0080] In addition, in the xth switch setting unit 9x having the above configuration, for example, a case is assumed in which an H signal is input to the signal input unit 9I. In this case, the first circuit unit 9C1 inverts the H signal to output an L signal, and the second circuit unit 9C2 outputs a stabilized and corrected L signal. As a result, the signal output unit 9U outputs an L signal to the signal input unit 7I of the xth switch unit 7x.

[0081] <<An example of switching the transmission path of an image signal>> In the switch setting unit 9, for example, the relationship between the signal input to the signal input unit 9I and the signal output from the signal output unit 9U is switched depending on whether the specific wiring portion 9P is disconnected or not.

[0082] For example, when the specific wiring portion 9P is not cut (also called a non-cut state), the switching setting unit 9 outputs an H signal from the signal output unit 9U when an L signal is input to the signal input unit 9I, and outputs an L signal from the signal output unit 9U when an H signal is input to the signal input unit 9I. Also, for example, when the specific wiring portion 9P is cut (also called a cut state), the switching setting unit 9 outputs an H signal from the signal output unit 9U when an L signal is input to the signal input unit 9I, and even if an H signal is input to the signal input unit 9I thereafter, the signal output from the signal output unit 9U does not change. Therefore, for example, when the switching setting unit 9 is in a cut state, once an L signal is input to the signal input unit 9I and the switching setting unit 9 is in a state in which an H signal is output from the signal output unit 9U, the switching setting unit 9 continues to output an H signal from the signal output unit 9U even if an H signal is input to the signal input unit 9I. At this time, for example, the switch setting unit 9 serves to store the state in which the second circuit unit 9C2 continues to output the H signal from the signal output unit 9U.

[0083] In the first embodiment, for example, the relationship between the input and output in the switching setting unit 9, which changes depending on whether or not a specific wiring portion 9P is disconnected, can be utilized to set the switching unit 7 to the first conductive state or the second conductive state.

[0084] FIG. 8 is a timing chart showing an example of changes in input and output of the switching setting unit 9 in the non-disconnected state. As shown in FIG. 8, for example, in the first period P1, in the switching setting unit 9 in the non-disconnected state, the signal XRST input to the signal input unit 9I is set to an L signal, and the signal SEL_sp output from the signal output unit 9U is set to an H signal. For example, in the subsequent second period P2, in the switching setting unit 9 in the non-disconnected state, the signal XRST input to the signal input unit 9I is set to an H signal, and the signal SEL_sp output from the signal output unit 9U is set to an L signal. At this time, for example, an L signal is input as a first signal from the xth switching setting unit 9x in the non-disconnected state to the xth switching unit 7x. As a result, for example, the xth switching unit 7x is set to a state (first conductive state) in which the image signal Sx can be supplied from the xth driving signal line 3x as the normal driving signal line 3 to the light emission control signal line 5 in the xth light emission control signal line group 50x.

[0085] FIG. 9 is a timing chart showing an example of changes in input and output of the switching setting unit 9 in the disconnected state. As shown in FIG. 9, for example, in the first period P1, in the switching setting unit 9 in the disconnected state, the signal XRST input to the signal input unit 9I is set to an L signal, and the signal SEL_sp output from the signal output unit 9U is set to an H signal. For example, in the subsequent second period P2, in the switching setting unit 9 in the disconnected state, even if the signal XRST input to the signal input unit 9I is set to an H signal, the signal SEL_sp output from the signal output unit 9U is maintained as an H signal. At this time, for example, an H signal is input as a second signal from the xth switching setting unit 9x in the disconnected state to the xth switching unit 7x. As a result, for example, the xth switching unit 7x is set to a state (second conductive state) in which the image signal S(x+1) can be supplied from the (x+1)th driving signal line 3(x+1) as the separate driving signal line 3 to the light emission control signal line 5 in the xth light emission control signal line group 50x.

[0086] In this way, for example, in the second period P2, the xth switch setting unit 9x can set the signal to be applied to the xth switch unit 7x from an L signal of the first potential to an H signal of the second potential in response to the disconnection of the specific wiring portion 9P. In other words, each of the multiple switch setting units 9 can apply an H signal as the second signal to one of the multiple switch units 7 connected to the switch setting unit 9 in response to the disconnection of the specific wiring portion 9P. More specifically, for example, the first switch setting unit 91 can apply an H signal as the second signal to the first switch unit 71 in response to the disconnection of the specific wiring portion 9P. For example, the second switch setting unit 92 can apply an H signal as the second signal to the second switch unit 72 in response to the disconnection of the specific wiring portion 9P. For example, the third switch setting unit 93 can apply an H signal as the second signal to the third switch unit 73 in response to the disconnection of the specific wiring portion 9P. For example, the n-th switch setting unit 9n can provide an H signal as the second signal to the n-th switch unit 7n in response to the disconnection of the specific wiring portion 9P. Thereby, for example, the x-th switch unit 7x can be set to the second conductive state by providing an H signal as the second signal from the x-th switch setting unit 9x. In other words, each of the multiple switch units 7 can be set to the second conductive state by providing an H signal as the second signal from one switch setting unit 9 connected to the switch unit 7 among the multiple switch setting units 9. More specifically, for example, the first switch unit 71 can be set to the second conductive state by providing an H signal as the second signal from the first switch setting unit 91. For example, the second switch unit 72 can be set to the second conductive state by providing an H signal as the second signal from the second switch setting unit 92. For example, the third switch unit 73 can be set to the second conductive state by providing an H signal as the second signal from the third switch setting unit 93. For example, the n-th switching unit 7n can be set to the second conductive state by receiving an H signal as the second signal from the n-th switching setting unit 9n. If such a configuration is adopted, for example, the circuit scale of the switching setting unit 9 for changing the setting of the conductive state in the switching unit 7 is unlikely to become large.

[0087] The process of setting the switching unit 7 to the second conduction state is executed, for example, when a pixel column C1 with a defect of a dark line or a bright line is found in an inspection before the shipment of the display device 100. At this time, for example, the specific wiring portion 9P of the switching setting unit 9 corresponding to the defective pixel column C1 is cut, thereby setting the switching unit 7 corresponding to the pixel column C1 to the second conduction state. The process of setting the switching unit 7 to the second conduction state may be executed, for example, when a pixel column C1 with a defect of a dark line or a bright line is found during maintenance such as repair of the display device 100.

[0088] <1-3. Summary of the first embodiment> As described above, for example, the display device 100 includes a plurality of switching units 7 connected to each of the plurality of drive signal lines 3, and each of the plurality of switching units 7 is connected to one normal drive signal line 3 and one or more separate drive signal lines 3. Each of the plurality of switching units 7 can be selectively set to, for example, a first conductive state in which an image signal can be supplied from the drive unit 30 to the corresponding light emission control signal line 5 via one normal drive signal line 3, and a second conductive state in which an image signal can be supplied from the drive unit 30 to the corresponding light emission control signal line 5 via one or more separate drive signal lines 3. As a result, for example, in the display device 100, a defect in which an image signal is not supplied and the pixel unit becomes dark (dark line) or a defect in which the pixel unit becomes bright (bright line) is less likely to occur in one pixel unit column C1. Therefore, for example, in the display device 100, degradation of image quality due to disconnection of the drive signal lines 3 outside the image display unit 20 can be reduced.

[0089] <2. Other embodiments> The present disclosure is not limited to the first embodiment described above, and various modifications and improvements are possible without departing from the gist of the present disclosure.

[0090] <2-1. Second embodiment> In the first embodiment, for example, as shown in FIG. 10, the multiple switching setting units 9 may be changed to multiple switching setting units 9A. Here, each of the multiple switching setting units 9A can selectively provide one of the first signal and the second signal to one of the multiple switching units 7 connected to the switching setting unit 9A. Then, for example, each of the multiple switching setting units 9A can provide the second signal to one of the multiple switching units 7 connected to the switching setting unit 9A in response to the provision of a signal (also called a designated signal) corresponding to the switching setting unit 9A from the designated signal line group 90. This makes it possible to reduce degradation of image quality due to disconnection of the driving signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 in the display device 100 without performing delicate work such as cutting the specific wiring portion 9P.

[0091] In this case, as shown in FIG. 10, the multiple switch setting units 9A include, for example, n switch setting units 9A. More specifically, the multiple switch setting units 9A include, for example, a first switch setting unit 9A1, a second switch setting unit 9A2, a third switch setting unit 9A3, ..., an nth switch setting unit 9An. For example, the first switch unit 71 is connected to the first switch setting unit 9A1. For example, the second switch setting unit 9A2 is connected to the second switch unit 72. For example, the third switch setting unit 9A3 is connected to the third switch unit 73. For example, the nth switch setting unit 9An is connected to the nth switch unit 7n. The display device 100 has, for example, a designated signal line group 90 including a plurality of signal lines (also called designated signal lines) L1. The designated signal line group 90 is connected to, for example, a drive unit 30. The drive unit 30 can supply, for example, a designated signal to the designated signal line group 90. Here, for example, signals corresponding to the multiple switch setting units 9A are adopted as the multiple designation signals. For example, signals corresponding to unique identification information given to the multiple switch setting units 9A, respectively, are applied to the multiple designation signals.

[0092] Fig. 11 is a circuit diagram showing an example of the switching unit 7 and the switching setting unit 9A according to the second embodiment. Fig. 11 shows a first switching unit 71 which is the first switching unit 7, a first switching setting unit 9A1 which is the first switching setting unit 9A, a second switching unit 72 which is the second switching unit 7, and a second switching setting unit 9A2 which is the second switching setting unit 9A.

[0093] As shown in FIG. 11, each of the multiple switch setting units 9A includes, for example, a NOR gate 9NO and a signal output unit 9U.

[0094] Here, for example, a mode is considered in which an address (also called a unique address) as unique identification information is given to each of two or more predetermined number of switching setting units 9A. For example, the unique address can be given to each of two or more predetermined number of pixel section columns C1, and thus the unique address can be given to the switching setting units 9A corresponding to each of the two or more predetermined number of pixel section columns C1. Here, for example, a case is assumed in which a unique address is given to each of the switching setting units 9A whose number is 2 to the power of y (y is a natural number of 2 or more) minus 1. Here, for example, a unique address represented by y bits in which x is expressed in binary is given to the x-th x-th switching setting unit 9Ax. For example, when the natural number y is 8, a unique address represented by 8 bits is given to each of 255 switching setting units 9A whose number is 2 to the power of 8 minus 1. More specifically, for example, a unique address of 00000001 is given to the first switching setting unit 9A1. For example, the second switch setting unit 9A2 is assigned a unique address of 00000010. For example, the third switch setting unit 9A3 is assigned a unique address of 00000011. For example, the 255th switch setting unit 9A255 is assigned a unique address of 11111111.

[0095] The designated signal line group 90 includes, for example, y designated signal lines L1. In this case, the designated signal line group 90 can transmit a signal (designated signal) corresponding to a unique address represented by y bits by transmitting an L signal or an H signal through each of the y designated signal lines L1. Here, for example, the designated signal line group 90 can transmit 2 to the y power of signals. The 2 to the y power of signals corresponds to, for example, 2 to the y power minus 1. (2 y -1) Each of the switching setting units 9A corresponds to (2 y -1) Corresponding to unique addresses (2 y -1) A designated signal; (2 y -1) and one signal (also called a non-designated signal) that does not correspond to any of the unique addresses of the switching setting units 9A. (2 y -1) The 0s and 1s of each digit in the unique address can be represented, for example, by L and H signals transmitted by each of the y designated signal lines L1.

[0096] In the example of FIG. 11, the natural number y is 8. The designated signal line group 90 includes eight designated signal lines L1. The eight designated signal lines L1 are a first designated signal line L10, a second designated signal line L11, a third designated signal line L12, a fourth designated signal line L13, a fifth designated signal line L14, a sixth designated signal line L15, a seventh designated signal line L16, and an eighth designated signal line L17. In this case, the designated signal line group 90 can transmit designated signals corresponding to the unique addresses represented by 8 bits by transmitting L signals or H signals through each of the eight designated signal lines L1, for example. Here, for example, the designated signal line group 90 can transmit 255 different signals, which is 2 to the power of 8. The 256 different signals include 255 designated signals corresponding to the 255 unique addresses corresponding to the 255 switching setting units 9A, respectively, and one non-designated signal that does not correspond to any of the 255 switching setting units 9A. The 0s and 1s in each digit of the 255 unique addresses represented by 8 bits can be represented, for example, by L and H signals transmitted by each of the eight designation signal lines L1 from the first designation signal line L10 to the eighth designation signal line L17.

[0097] More specifically, for example, the first digit 0 of the unique address may be represented by an L signal transmitted by the first designation signal line L10, and the first digit 1 of the unique address may be represented by an H signal transmitted by the first designation signal line L10. For example, the second digit 0 of the unique address may be represented by an L signal transmitted by the second designation signal line L11, and the second digit 1 of the unique address may be represented by an H signal transmitted by the second designation signal line L11. For example, the third digit 0 of the unique address may be represented by an L signal transmitted by the third designation signal line L12, and the third digit 1 of the unique address may be represented by an H signal transmitted by the third designation signal line L12. For example, the fourth digit 0 of the unique address may be represented by an L signal transmitted by the fourth designation signal line L13, and the fourth digit 1 of the unique address may be represented by an H signal transmitted by the fourth designation signal line L13. For example, the fifth digit 0 of the unique address may be represented by an L signal transmitted by the fifth designation signal line L14, and the fifth digit 1 of the unique address may be represented by an H signal transmitted by the fifth designation signal line L14. For example, the sixth digit 0 of the unique address may be represented by an L signal transmitted by the sixth designation signal line L15, and the sixth digit 1 of the unique address may be represented by an H signal transmitted by the sixth designation signal line L15. For example, the seventh digit 0 of the unique address may be represented by an L signal transmitted by the seventh designation signal line L16, and the seventh digit 1 of the unique address may be represented by an H signal transmitted by the seventh designation signal line L16. For example, the eighth digit 0 of the unique address may be represented by an L signal transmitted by the eighth designation signal line L17, and the eighth digit 1 of the unique address may be represented by an H signal transmitted by the eighth designation signal line L17.

[0098] Also, (2 y -1) In each of the 255 switching setting units 9A, for example, wirings branched from y designated signal lines L1 included in the designated signal line group 90 are connected to the input side of the NOR gate 9NO. In the example of Fig. 11, in each of the 255 switching setting units 9A, wirings branched from eight designated signal lines L1 included in the designated signal line group 90 are connected to the input side of the NOR gate 9NO.

[0099] Also, (2 y -1) At the input side of each NOR gate 9NO of the switching setting units 9A, for example, a NOT circuit is disposed at a portion electrically connected to the designation signal lines L1 corresponding to all digits corresponding to 1 in the unique address expressed by y bits given to the switching setting unit 9A. Therefore, for example, in the switching setting unit 9A, when a designation signal corresponding to the unique address expressed by y bits given to the switching setting unit 9A is input from the designation signal line group 90, the signals input to the NOR gate 9NO from the y designation signal lines L1 are all turned into L signals by the NOT circuit located at the input side of the NOR gate 9NO. At this time, the NOR gate 9NO outputs an H signal, and the signal output unit 9U outputs an H signal to the signal input unit 7I of the switching unit 7. In contrast, for example, in the switching setting unit 9A, when a designation signal or a non-designation signal that does not correspond to the unique address assigned to the switching setting unit 9A is input from the designation signal line group 90, the signals input from the y designation signal lines L1 to the NOR gate 9NO are not all L signals due to the NOT circuit located on the input side of the NOR gate 9NO. At this time, the NOR gate 9NO outputs an L signal, and the signal output unit 9U outputs an L signal to the signal input unit 7I of the switching unit 7.

[0100] In the example of FIG. 11, a NOT circuit is disposed on the input side of each NOR gate 9NO of the 255 switching setting units 9A at a portion where the designation signal lines L1 corresponding to all digits corresponding to 1 in the unique address expressed by 8 bits given to the switching setting unit 9A are electrically connected. Therefore, for example, in the switching setting unit 9A, when a designation signal corresponding to the unique address expressed by 8 bits given to the switching setting unit 9A is input from the designation signal line group 90, the signals input to the NOR gate 9NO from the first to eighth designation signal lines L10 to L17, which are the eight designation signal lines L1, are all turned into L signals by the NOT circuit located on the input side of the NOR gate 9NO. At this time, the NOR gate 9NO outputs an H signal. As a result, the signal output unit 9U outputs an H signal to the signal input unit 7I of the switching unit 7. On the other hand, for example, in the switching setting unit 9A, when a designation signal or a non-designation signal that does not correspond to the unique address given to the switching setting unit 9A is input from the designation signal line group 90, the signals input to the NOR gate 9NO from the first to eighth designation signal lines L10 to L17, which are the eight designation signal lines L1, are not all L signals due to the NOT circuit located on the input side of the NOR gate 9NO. At this time, the NOR gate 9NO outputs an L signal. As a result, the signal output unit 9U outputs an L signal to the signal input unit 7I of the switching unit 7.

[0101] 12 is a truth table showing the relationship between the patterns of signals input from the designated signal line group 90 to the 255 switching setting units 9A and the signals output from the switching setting units 9A. In FIG. 12, the signal A transmitted by the first designated signal line L10 <0> , signal A transmitted by the second designated signal line L11 <1> , the signal A transmitted by the third designated signal line L12 <2> , signal A transmitted by the fourth designated signal line L13 <3> , the signal A transmitted by the fifth designated signal line L14 <4> , the signal A transmitted by the sixth designated signal line L15 <5> , the signal A transmitted by the seventh designated signal line L16 <6> and signal A transmitted by the eighth designated signal line L17 <7> 12, the L signal is indicated by L and the H signal is indicated by H. In addition, in FIG. 12, the signal SEL_sp output from the x-th switch setting unit 9Ax <x>In FIG. 12, the L signal is indicated by L and the H signal is indicated by H. Unique Address The figures show a case in which a non-designated signal that does not correspond to any of the above is input, and a case in which the first switch setting unit 9A1, the second switch setting unit 9A2, the third switch setting unit 9A3, ..., the 127th switch setting unit 9A127, ..., and the 255th switch setting unit 9A255 each output an H signal; other cases are omitted for convenience due to the size of the drawing.

[0102] For example, signal A, as shown in FIG. <0> From signal A <7> When all of the signal A are L signals, the first switch setting unit 9A1 to the 255th switch setting unit 9A255 all output L signals. <0> is an H signal, and signal A <1> From signal A <7> When all of the signals are L, the first switch setting unit 9A1 outputs an H signal. <1> is an H signal, and signal A <0> and signal A <2> From signal A <7> When all of the signals A and B are L signals, the second switch setting unit 9A2 outputs an H signal. <0> and signal A <1> is an H signal, and signal A <2> From signal A <7> When all of the signals A and B are L signals, the third switch setting unit 9A3 outputs an H signal. <0> From signal A <6> are all H signals, and signal A <7> When the signal A is an L signal, the 127th switching setting unit 9A127 outputs an H signal. For example, when the signal A is <0> From signal A <7> are all H signals, the 255th switch setting unit 9A255 outputs an H signal.

[0103] In this manner, for example, each of the 255 switching setting units 9A can provide an H signal as the second signal to one of the switching units 7 connected to the switching setting unit 9A in response to the provision of a designation signal corresponding to the switching setting unit 9A from the designation signal lines L1. Here, for example, among the multiple switching units 7, the switching unit 7 to which the L signal as the first signal is input from the switching setting unit 9A is set to the first conductive state. Also, for example, among the multiple switching units 7, the switching unit 7 to which the H signal as the second signal is input from the switching setting unit 9A is set to the second conductive state. If such a configuration is adopted, for example, it is possible to reduce degradation of image quality due to disconnection of the driving signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 in the display device 100 without performing delicate work such as work of cutting the specific wiring portion 9P.

[0104] The process of setting the switching unit 7 to the second conductive state can be realized, for example, by storing, in a memory unit of the driving unit 30, information on a unique address corresponding to the pixel unit column C1 in which a dark line or a bright line is confirmed, when a dark line or a bright line is confirmed, for example, during inspection or maintenance before shipment of the display device 100. For example, a non-volatile memory is used as the memory unit of the driving unit 30.

[0105] In the example of FIG. 12, the signal SEL_sp output from the xth switch setting unit 9Ax <x>12, when the signal SEL_sp is an L signal, the switching unit 7 to which the L signal is input is set to the first conductive state, as indicated by "(first)". <x>11, for example, the signal SEL_sp output from the first switching setting unit 9A1 is set to the second conductive state. <1> is an L signal as the first signal, the first switching unit 71 to which this L signal is input is set to a state (first conductive state) in which the image signal S1 can be supplied from the first drive signal line 31 as the normal drive signal line 3 to the light emission control signal line 5 of the first light emission control signal line group 501. <1> is an H signal as the second signal, the first switching unit 71 to which this H signal is input is set to a state (second conductive state) in which the image signal S2 can be supplied from the second drive signal line 32, which serves as a separate drive signal line, to the light emission control signal line 5 of the first light emission control signal line group 501.

[0106] <2-2. Third embodiment> In each of the first and second embodiments, for example, as shown in FIG. 13, the multiple switching units 7 may be changed to multiple switching units 7B to which one normal drive signal line 3 and two or more drive signal lines 3 as one or more separate drive signal lines 3 of the multiple drive signal lines 3 are connected. In this case, for example, the one or more separate drive signal lines 3 connected to each of the multiple switching units 7B include two or more separate drive signal lines 3 of the multiple drive signal lines 3. Here, for example, each of the multiple switching units 7B can supply an image signal to the corresponding light emission control signal line 5 of the multiple light emission control signal lines 5 from the drive unit 30 via one normal drive signal line 3 in the first conductive state. Also, for example, each of the multiple switching units 7B can supply an image signal to the light emission control signal line 5 corresponding to the switching unit 7B of the multiple light emission control signal lines 5 from the drive unit 30 via two or more separate drive signal lines 3 different from the one normal drive signal line 3 in the second conductive state. Then, for example, in the second conductive state, each of the multiple switching units 7B may supply an image signal of a voltage between two or more image signals supplied from the drive unit 30 to two or more separate drive signal lines 3, to one of the multiple light-emission control signal lines 5 corresponding to the switching unit 7. As the image signal of a voltage between two or more image signals, for example, an image signal having an average voltage of the two or more image signals is used.

[0107] Here, for example, for each of the multiple switching units 7B, two or more separate drive signal lines 3 connected to the switching unit 7B may be drive signal lines 3 located next to one normal drive signal line 3 connected to the switching unit 7B among the multiple drive signal lines 3. More specifically, for example, for each of the multiple switching units 7B, two or more separate drive signal lines 3 connected to the switching unit 7B may be drive signal lines 3 located on both sides of one normal drive signal line 3 connected to the switching unit 7B among the multiple drive signal lines 3. In other words, for example, one normal drive signal line 3 and two separate drive signal lines 3 connected to each switching unit 7B correspond to one normal drive signal line 3 for one pixel column C1 and two normal drive signal lines 3 for two pixel columns C1 located on both sides of the one pixel column C1. Here, the case of the second switching unit 72 is illustrated. In this case, for example, one normal drive signal line 3 connected to the second switching unit 72 becomes the second drive signal line 32 as one normal drive signal line 3 for the second pixel unit column C12. And, for example, two separate drive signal lines 3 connected to the second switching unit 72 become the first drive signal line 31 and the third drive signal line 33 as two normal drive signal lines 3 for the first pixel unit column C11 and the third pixel unit column C13 located on both sides of the second pixel unit column C12. If such a configuration is adopted, for example, a plurality of pixel units 2 that originally emit light in response to an image signal supplied from the drive unit 30 via the normal drive signal line 3 can be made to emit light at a luminance between the luminance of the adjacent pixel units 2 when the normal drive signal line 3 is disconnected. For example, the average of the luminance of the adjacent pixel units 2 can be adopted as the luminance between the luminance of the adjacent pixel units 2. As a result, the plurality of pixel units 2 becomes less noticeable.

[0108] 13 is a circuit diagram showing an example of a switching unit 7B in a display device 100 according to the third embodiment. The switching unit 7B has a form modified, for example, based on the switching unit 7 according to the first embodiment and the second embodiment, so as to further include a fourth gate portion 7G4, a first resistance portion 7R1, and a second resistance portion 7R2. In other words, the x-th x-th switching unit 7Bx has a form modified, for example, based on the x-th switching unit 7x according to the first embodiment and the second embodiment, so as to further include a fourth gate portion 7G4, a first resistance portion 7R1, and a second resistance portion 7R2.

[0109] The fourth gate portion 7G4 is disposed on a wiring that connects, for example, the (x-1)th drive signal line 3(x-1), which is the x-1th drive signal line 3, and the xth selector unit 8x. Here, for example, the (x-1)th drive signal line 3(x-1) as one separate drive signal line 3 is connected to the xth switch unit 7Bx via a connection wiring W3. The fourth gate portion 7G4 can be set to a conductive state that allows the supply of an image signal based on the image signal S(x-1) from the (x-1)th drive signal line 3(x-1) to the light emission control signal line 5 in the xth light emission control signal line group 50x in response to the input of, for example, one or more specific signals. For example, a transfer gate element (TG element) is applied to the fourth gate portion 7G4. In this case, the fifth electrode on the input side of the fourth gate portion 7G4 is connected to the (x-1)th drive signal line 3(x-1), and the sixth electrode on the output side of the fourth gate portion 7G4 is connected to the light emission control signal line 5 via the xth selector section 8x. When a low potential signal (L signal) is input to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor and a high potential signal (H signal) is input to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor, the fourth gate portion 7G4 is brought into a state (conductive state) in which a current can flow between the fifth electrode and the sixth electrode. At this time, for example, an image signal based on the image signal S(x-1) can be supplied from the (x-1)th drive signal line 3(x-1) to the light emission control signal line 5 in the xth light emission control signal line group 50x via the fourth gate portion 7G4.

[0110] Also, for example, the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor of the fourth gate portion 7G4 is connected to the signal input portion 7I, and the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor of the fourth gate portion 7G4 is connected to the output side portion of the third gate portion 7G3. Therefore, for example, a signal input to the signal input portion 7I is applied to, for example, the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor of the first gate portion 7G1, the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor of the second gate portion 7G2, the input side portion of the third gate portion 7G3, and the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor of the fourth gate portion 7G4.

[0111] The first resistance portion 7R1 is located, for example, on a wiring that connects the wiring that connects the first gate portion 7G1 and the x-th selector section 8x and the fourth electrode on the output side of the second gate portion 7G2. The first resistance portion 7R1 has, for example, a first electric resistance Rb1. The first electric resistance Rb1 is set to a value that is much larger than the electric resistance Ra(x+1) of the (x+1)th drive signal line 3(x+1) that serves as the separate drive signal line 3 that is connected to the third electrode on the input side of the second gate portion 7G2. The first electric resistance Rb1 can, for example, attenuate the voltage of the image signal S(x+1) input from the (x+1)th drive signal line 3(x+1) via the second gate portion 7G2 and transmit it toward the wiring that connects the first gate portion 7G1 and the x-th selector section 8x.

[0112] The second resistance portion 7R2 is located, for example, on the wiring that connects the wiring that connects the first gate portion 7G1 and the x-th selector section 8x and the sixth electrode on the output side of the fourth gate portion 7G4. The second resistance portion 7R2 has, for example, a second electric resistance Rb2. The second electric resistance Rb2 is set to a value that is much larger than the electric resistance Ra(x-1) of the (x-1)th drive signal line 3(x-1) that serves as the separate drive signal line 3 that is connected to the fifth electrode on the input side of the fourth gate portion 7G4. The second electric resistance Rb2 can, for example, attenuate the voltage of the image signal S(x-1) input from the (x-1)th drive signal line 3(x-1) via the fourth gate portion 7G4, and transmit it toward the wiring that connects the first gate portion 7G1 and the x-th selector section 8x.

[0113] Here, in the xth switching section 7Bx having the above configuration, for example, a case where an L signal is input to the signal input section 7I is assumed. For example, in each of the second gate portion 7G2 and the fourth gate portion 7G4, an H signal is input to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor, and an L signal is input to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor. As a result, for example, the second gate portion 7G2 is in a state (non-conductive state) in which no current flows between the third electrode and the fourth electrode, and the fourth gate portion 7G4 is in a state (non-conductive state) in which no current flows between the fifth electrode and the sixth electrode. As a result, for example, the xth switching section 7Bx is set to a state (first conductive state) in which the image signal Sx can be supplied from the xth drive signal line 3x to the emission control signal line 5 in the xth emission control signal line group 50x via the first gate portion 7G1.

[0114] Also, in the xth switching section 7Bx having the above configuration, for example, a case where an H signal is input to the signal input section 7I is assumed. For example, in each of the second gate portion 7G2 and the fourth gate portion 7G4, an L signal is input to the gate electrode of the P-channel transistor, and an H signal is input to the gate electrode of the N-channel transistor. As a result, for example, the second gate portion 7G2 is in a state where a current can flow between the third electrode and the fourth electrode (conductive state), and the fourth gate portion 7G4 is in a state where a current can flow between the fifth electrode and the sixth electrode (conductive state). As a result, for example, the xth switch section 7Bx is set to a state (second conductive state) in which an image signal having a voltage between the image signal S(x+1) input from the (x+1)th drive signal line 3(x+1) via the second gate portion 7G2 and the image signal S(x-1) input from the (x-1)th drive signal line 3(x-1) via the fourth gate portion 7G4 can be supplied to the light emission control signal line 5 in the xth light emission control signal line group 50x. Here, for example, by appropriately setting the first electrical resistance Rb1 and the second electrical resistance Rb2, an image signal having a voltage between the image signal S(x+1) and the image signal S(x-1) can be supplied to the light emission control signal line 5 in the xth light emission control signal line group 50x. Then, for example, by setting the first electrical resistance Rb1 and the second electrical resistance Rb2 to be approximately the same and appropriate electrical resistance, an image signal having the average voltage of the image signal S(x+1) and the image signal S(x-1) can be supplied to the emission control signal line 5 in the xth emission control signal line group 50x.

[0115] Here, for example, in the second conductive state, the presence of the first electrical resistance Rb1 and the second electrical resistance Rb2 may increase the time constant associated with the capacitive element of the light-emission control unit in each of the first subpixel portion 2r, the second subpixel portion 2g, and the third subpixel portion 2b. For this reason, for example, the configuration of the switching unit 7B in the example of FIG. 13 is likely to be adopted when the time interval (also called the frame rate) at which images are switched in the display device 100 is long.

[0116] <2-3. Fourth embodiment> In each of the first and second embodiments, for example, as shown in FIG. 14 and FIG. 15, for each of the multiple switching units 7, one separate drive signal line 3 connected to the switching unit 7 may be a drive signal line 3 that is not located next to one normal drive signal line 3 connected to the switching unit 7 among the multiple drive signal lines 3. In other words, for example, one normal drive signal line 3 and one separate drive signal line 3 connected to one switching unit 7 are two normal drive signal lines 3 for two pixel columns C1 that are not adjacent to each other. If such a configuration is adopted, for example, even if the normal drive signal line 3 for supplying an image signal to the light emission control signal line 5 and the drive signal line 3 next to the normal drive signal line 3 are disconnected, the switch unit 7 arranged in the image display unit 20 can supply an image signal to the light emission control signal line 5 via another drive signal line 3. As a result, for example, in the display device 100, a defect (dark line) in which an image signal is not supplied and the pixel column C1 becomes dark or a defect (bright line) in which the pixel column C1 becomes bright is less likely to occur. Therefore, even if a situation arises in which adjacent drive signal lines 3 are prone to breakage in the display device 100, degradation of image quality due to breakage of the drive signal lines 3 outside the image display unit 20 can be reduced.

[0117] Fig. 14 is a block diagram showing a first example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the fourth embodiment. The configuration of the display device 100 shown in Fig. 14 is based on the configuration of the display device 100 according to the first embodiment shown in Fig. 5, for example, and has a form in which one separate drive signal line 3 connected to each of the multiple switching units 7 is changed to a drive signal line 3 that is not located next to one normal drive signal line 3 connected to the switching unit 7.

[0118] Fig. 15 is a block diagram showing a second example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the fourth embodiment. The configuration of the display device 100 shown in Fig. 15 is based on the configuration of the display device 100 according to the second embodiment shown in Fig. 10, for example, and has a form in which one separate drive signal line 3 connected to each of the multiple switching units 7 is changed to a drive signal line 3 that is not located next to one normal drive signal line 3 connected to the switching unit 7.

[0119] In the third embodiment, for example, for each of the multiple switching units 7B, two or more separate drive signal lines 3 connected to the switching unit 7B may be drive signal lines 3 that are not located next to one normal drive signal line 3 connected to the switching unit 7B among the multiple drive signal lines 3. Even if such a configuration is adopted, for example, even if the normal drive signal line 3 for supplying an image signal to the light emission control signal line 5 and the drive signal line 3 next to the normal drive signal line 3 are disconnected, the image signal can be supplied to the light emission control signal line 5 via another two or more drive signal lines 3 by the switching unit 7B arranged in the image display unit 20. As a result, for example, in the display device 100, a defect (dark line) in which an image signal is not supplied and the pixel unit column C1 becomes dark or a defect (bright line) in which the pixel unit column C1 becomes high luminance is unlikely to occur. Therefore, for example, even if a situation occurs in which the adjacent drive signal lines 3 are likely to be disconnected in the display device 100, a deterioration in image quality due to disconnection of the drive signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 can be reduced.

[0120] <2-4. Fifth embodiment> In each of the first and second embodiments, for example, as shown in Fig. 16 to Fig. 20, for each of the multiple switching units 7, one separate drive signal line 3 connected to the switching unit 7 may be changed to one drive signal line (also called a redundant drive signal line) 3B as a separate drive signal line arranged in a reserve manner to which an image signal can be supplied from the driving unit 30, separate from the multiple drive signal lines 3. If such a configuration is adopted, for example, when the normal drive signal line 3 supplying an image signal to the light emission control signal line 5 is disconnected, the switch unit 7 arranged in the image display unit 20 can supply an image signal to the light emission control signal line 5 via the redundant drive signal line 3B, which is the separate drive signal line. This makes it possible to substantially prevent degradation of image quality due to disconnection of the drive signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 in the display device 100, for example. Therefore, degradation of image quality due to disconnection of the drive signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 in the display device 100 can be reduced.

[0121] FIG. 16 is a block diagram showing a first example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the fifth embodiment. The configuration of the display device 100 shown in FIG. 16 is based on the configuration of the display device 100 according to the first embodiment shown in FIG. 5, for example, and has a configuration in which a redundant drive signal line 3B is connected to each of the multiple switching units 7 instead of connecting one separate drive signal line 3 to each of the multiple switching units 7. FIG. 18 is a circuit diagram showing a first example of the switching unit 7 and the switching setting unit 9 according to the fifth embodiment. The switching unit 7 and the switching setting unit 9 shown in FIG. 18 are based on the switching unit 7 and the switching setting unit 9 according to the first embodiment shown in FIG. 7, for example, and has a configuration in which a redundant drive signal line 3B is connected to the x-th switching unit 7x instead of connecting the (x+1)-th drive signal line 3(x+1). In this case, for example, when the xth switching unit 7x is set to the second conductive state, the image signal S_sp can be supplied from the redundant drive signal line 3B as another drive signal line to the light emission control signal line 5 in the xth light emission control signal line group 50x. At this time, for example, the image signal S_sp supplied by the drive unit 30 to the light emission control signal line 5 via the redundant drive signal line 3B may correspond to the image signal Sx that should be supplied to the light emission control signal line 5 via the xth drive signal line 3x that is the original normal drive signal line 3. This allows, for example, an image signal that should be supplied to a plurality of pixel units 2 via the disconnected normal drive signal line 3 to be supplied to a plurality of pixel units 2 via the redundant drive signal line 3B. As a result, for example, even if the image to be displayed on the display device 100 is relatively low resolution, a problem with light emission due to disconnection of the normal drive signal line 3 is less likely to be visually recognized.

[0122] FIG. 19 is a block diagram showing a second example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the fifth embodiment. The configuration of the display device 100 shown in FIG. 19 is based on the configuration of the display device 100 according to the second embodiment shown in FIG. 10, for example, and has a configuration in which a redundant drive signal line 3B is connected to each of the multiple switching units 7 instead of the separate drive signal line 3. FIG. 20 is a circuit diagram showing a second example of the switching unit 7 and the switching setting unit 9 according to the fifth embodiment. The switching unit 7 and the switching setting unit 9 shown in FIG. 20 are based on the switching unit 7 and the switching setting unit 9 according to the second embodiment shown in FIG. 11, for example, and have a configuration in which a redundant drive signal line 3B is connected to the first switching unit 71 instead of the second drive signal line 32. In this case, for example, when the first switching unit 71 is set to the second conductive state, the image signal S_sp can be supplied from the redundant drive signal line 3B as the separate drive signal line to the light emission control signal line 5 in the first light emission control signal line group 501. At this time, for example, the image signal S_sp supplied by the drive unit 30 to the light emission control signal line 5 via the redundant drive signal line 3B may correspond to the image signal S1 that should be supplied to the light emission control signal line 5 via the first drive signal line 31, which is the original normal drive signal line 3. This makes it possible to supply, for example, an image signal that should be supplied to a plurality of pixel units 2 via the disconnected normal drive signal line 3 to the plurality of pixel units 2 via the redundant drive signal line 3B. As a result, for example, even if an image to be displayed on the display device 100 has a relatively low resolution, a light emission defect caused by a disconnection of the normal drive signal line 3 is unlikely to be visually recognized.

[0123] 16 and 19, the display device 100 according to the fifth embodiment includes a plurality of redundant drive signal lines 3B, one for each of two or more drive signal lines 3 among the plurality of drive signal lines 3. Here, the drive unit 30 is capable of supplying an image signal to each of the plurality of redundant drive signal lines 3B, for example.

[0124] Each of the multiple redundant driving signal lines 3B includes, for example, a first redundant wiring portion 3Bb, a second redundant wiring portion 3Bc, and a third redundant wiring portion 3Ba. For example, the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb is a portion located on the second surface 10b (back surface wiring portion). For example, the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc is a portion located on the side surface 10c (side surface wiring portion). For example, the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba is a portion located on the first surface 10a (front surface wiring portion). The first redundant wiring portion 3Bb is connected to, for example, the driving unit 30. In each redundant driving signal line 3B, for example, the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb, the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc, and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba are connected in series in the order described above. More specifically, for example, the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb is connected to a third connection portion having conductivity arranged in a portion along the side surface 10c on the second surface 10b. For example, the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc is connected to the third connection portion and is connected to a fourth connection portion having conductivity arranged in a portion along the side surface 10c on the first surface 10a. For example, the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba is connected to the fourth connection portion. In this case, for example, in each redundant drive signal line 3B, the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb, the third connection portion, the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc, the fourth connection portion, and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba are connected in this order. For example, a conductor pad is applied to each of the third connection portion and the fourth connection portion, similarly to the above-mentioned first connection portion and second connection portion.

[0125] For example, the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc can be formed by subjecting a conductive paste applied to the side surface 10c in a desired pattern to a process of drying and baking by heating, a process of curing by heating, a process of curing by irradiating with light such as ultraviolet light, or a process of curing by heating and irradiating with light, similar to the above-mentioned second wiring portion 3c. The second redundant wiring portion 3Bc may be formed by a thin film formation method such as a plating method, a vapor deposition method, or a CVD method. Here, for example, if a groove extending from the first surface 10a to the second surface 10b exists in the portion of the side surface 10c of the substrate 10 where the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc is to be arranged, the conductive paste can be easily applied to the groove, which is the desired region on the side surface 10c.

[0126] The second redundant wiring portion 3Bc in the redundant drive signal line 3B may be wider and / or thicker than both of the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba. Since the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc is formed by applying and baking a conductive paste, the resistance of the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc is likely to be larger than the resistances of the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba that can be formed by a thin film formation method, if the thickness is the same. Therefore, it is easy to prevent the resistance of the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc from increasing and to match the resistances of the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba. That is, it is possible to prevent the connection resistance (contact resistance) between the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc and the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba from increasing. For example, as shown in FIG. 17, the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc may be wider than both of the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba. The width of the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc may be more than 1 time and not more than about 5 times the width of each of the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba, but is not limited to this range. In this configuration, the thickness of the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc may be equal to or greater than the thickness of each of the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba.

[0127] For the same purpose, when the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb, the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc, and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba have the same width, the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc may be thicker than the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba. The thickness of the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc may be more than 1 time and up to about 10 times the thickness of the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba, but is not limited to this range.

[0128] For the same purpose, the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc may be wider and thicker than both the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba. Furthermore, for the same purpose, the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc may be shorter than both the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba. In particular, if the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc has the same width and thickness as both the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba, the above configuration is more effective.

[0129] The second redundant wiring portion 3Bc may be covered with a protective layer. In this case, the wear resistance of the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc and the adhesive strength to the third connecting portion (pad) and the fourth connecting portion (pad) can be increased. The material of the protective layer may be a resin such as an acrylic resin or a polycarbonate resin, or an inorganic compound such as silicon oxide (SiO2) or silicon nitride (Si3N4). The protective layer may contain a black component having electrical conductivity such as carbon particles. In this case, the electrical conductivity of the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc is improved, and the narrow frame portion between the end of the first surface 10a and the image display unit 20 becomes less noticeable. The protective layer covering a certain second redundant wiring portion 3Bc and the protective layer covering the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc adjacent to the certain second redundant wiring portion 3Bc may not be in contact with each other. In this case, if the protective layer is conductive, it is possible to prevent a certain second redundant wiring portion 3Bc and the second redundant wiring portion 3Bc adjacent thereto from being short-circuited. Furthermore, if the protective layer is not conductive, the protective layer covering a certain second redundant wiring portion 3Bc and the protective layer covering a second redundant wiring portion 3Bc adjacent to that certain second redundant wiring portion 3Bc may be in contact with each other or may be continuous with each other.

[0130] 16, the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb is connected to the drive unit 30 located at the center of the second surface 10b of the substrate 10, and therefore the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb may be longer than the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba. In this case, if the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb and the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba are made of the same material, the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb may be wider and / or thicker than the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba. With this configuration, the resistance of the first redundant wiring portion 3Bb can be reduced, thereby reducing the resistance of the redundant drive signal line 3B.

[0131] The multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B may include a redundant drive signal line 3B having a lower resistance than the drive signal line 3. For example, when the wiring path from the drive unit 30 to the switching unit 7 of the redundant drive signal line 3B is longer than that of the drive signal line 3, the electrical resistance of the redundant drive signal line 3B can be reduced by making the wiring thickness of the redundant drive signal line 3B larger than that of the drive signal line 3. This makes it difficult for the voltage of the image signal transmitted from the drive unit 30 to the switching unit 7 by the redundant drive signal line 3B to decrease. When the thickness of the drive signal line 3 and the thickness of the redundant drive signal line 3B are the same, the thickness (width) of the redundant drive signal line 3B may be more than 1 time and about 5 times or less than the thickness (width) of the drive signal line 3, but is not limited to this range. Here, for example, the wiring thickness of any of the first redundant wiring part 3Bb, the second redundant wiring part 3Bc, and the third redundant wiring part 3Ba of the redundant drive signal line 3B may be made larger. In addition, for example, the electrical resistance of the redundant drive signal line 3B may be reduced by making the size of the third connection portion and the fourth connection portion of the redundant drive signal line 3B larger than the size of the first connection portion and the second connection portion of the drive signal line 3.

[0132] The multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B may include a redundant drive signal line 3B having a lower specific resistance (resistivity) than the drive signal line 3. For example, the drive signal line 3 may be made of soft copper (IACS% is 100.0%) or aluminum (IACS% is 59.5%), and the redundant drive signal line 3B may be made of silver (IACS% is 105.7%). The drive signal line 3 may be made of aluminum, and the redundant drive signal line 3B may be made of soft copper. The drive signal line 3 may be made of molybdenum (IACS% is 31.4%), and the redundant drive signal line 3B may be made of aluminum.

[0133] 16, 17, and 19, z (z is a natural number equal to or greater than 2) redundant drive signal lines 3B are arranged. In other words, the display device 100 includes a first redundant drive signal line 3B1, ..., and a zth redundant drive signal line 3Bz.

[0134] Also, for example, for each of two or more switching units 7 among the multiple switching units 7, one driving signal line 3 is connected to each of the two or more switching units 7 as a normal driving signal line 3. And, for each of the two or more switching units 7, one redundant driving signal line 3B is branched and connected to each of the two or more switching units 7. In other words, the multiple switching units 7 include, for example, two or more switching units 7 each connected to each of the two or more driving signal lines 3, and two or more switching units 7 each connected to one redundant driving signal line 3B among the multiple redundant driving signal lines 3B. Therefore, for example, one driving signal line 3 and one redundant driving signal line 3B are connected to each of the switching units 7. And, for example, for each of two or more switching units 7 among the multiple switching units 7, one redundant driving signal line 3B is connected to each of the two or more switching units 7. More specifically, for example, the third redundant wiring portion 3Ba of one redundant drive signal line 3B includes two or more portions (also called branch portions) B1 connected to two or more switching units 7, respectively.

[0135] Here, for example, as shown in Figures 16, 17, and 19, each of the multiple driving signal lines 3 may be positioned so as to reach the first surface 10a side from the second surface 10b side through the first side surface 10c1, and each of the multiple redundant driving signal lines 3B may be positioned so as to reach the first surface 10a side from the second surface 10b side through the first side surface 10c1. In this case, for example, for every two or more driving signal lines 3, one redundant driving signal line 3B may be positioned next to the two or more driving signal lines 3 on the first side surface 10c1. In other words, for example, for every two or more driving signal lines 3 among the multiple driving signal lines 3, a signal line group (also called a signal line group) is formed in which the two or more driving signal lines 3 and one redundant driving signal line 3B arranged as a backup for the two or more driving signal lines 3 are positioned side by side on the first side surface 10c1. For example, when the first side surface 10c1 is viewed in a plan view, the signal line groups are located in regions spaced apart from one another. In other words, when the first side surface 10c1 is viewed in a plan view, the signal line groups are located so as not to overlap one another.

[0136] This can reduce the difference between the length of the wiring path that transmits the image signal from the driving unit 30 to the pixel unit 2 via the driving signal line 3 and the length of the wiring path that transmits the image signal from the driving unit 30 to the pixel unit 2 via the redundant driving signal line 3B. This makes it difficult for the voltage of the image signal to drop from the driving unit 30 to the pixel unit 2 even if the image signal is supplied from the driving unit 30 to the pixel unit 2 via the redundant driving signal line 3B instead of the driving signal line 3. As a result, for example, the deterioration of image quality due to the disconnection of the driving signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 in the display device 100 can be reduced. Here, for example, even if one redundant driving signal line 3B is located between two or more driving signal lines 3 among the multiple driving signal lines 3 on the first side surface 10c1, the same effect can be achieved.

[0137] Here, as the two or more drive signal lines 3, for example, a predetermined number v (v is a natural number of 2 or more) of drive signal lines 3 is applied. For example, the predetermined number v is 2 to the power of y (y is a natural number of 2 or more) minus 1. In this case, for example, among the multiple switching units 7, (2 y -1) For each switching unit 7, (2 y -1) Each of the switching units 7 is connected to one driving signal line 3 as a normal driving signal line. (2 y -1) For each switching unit 7, (2 y -1) One of the redundant drive signal lines 3B is branched and connected to each of the switching units 7. In other words, for example, the switching units 7 are each connected to one of the redundant drive signal lines 3B. (2 y -1) For each drive signal line 3, (2 y -1) One of the redundant drive signal lines 3B is branched out and connected to each of the redundant drive signal lines 3B. (2 y -1) The switch unit 7 is included.

[0138] More specifically, for example, assume that y is set to 8 and the predetermined number v is 255. In this case, for example, one drive signal line 3 is connected to each of the 255 switching units 7 as a normal drive signal line for each of the 255 switching units 7 among the multiple switching units 7. And, one redundant drive signal line 3B among the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B is branched and connected to each of the 255 switching units 7. In other words, for example, the multiple switching units 7 include 255 switching units 7 each connected to each of the 255 drive signal lines 3 and each connected to one redundant drive signal line 3B among the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B.

[0139] Furthermore, in the display device 100 according to the fourth embodiment, for example, one redundant drive signal line 3B may be arranged for every two or more mutually different numbers of drive signal lines 3 among the plurality of drive signal lines 3.

[0140] <2-5. Sixth embodiment> In the fifth embodiment, as shown in Fig. 21 and Fig. 22, for example, each of the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B may be located so as to reach the first surface 10a side from the second surface 10b side through the first side surface 10c1, and may be located separately from the multiple drive signal lines 3 on the first side surface 10c1 without being located between the multiple drive signal lines 3. In other words, for example, when the first side surface 10c1 is seen through in a plan view, an area on the first side surface 10c1 where the multiple drive signal lines 3 are arranged may be separated from an area where the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B are arranged. This makes it easy to arrange the multiple drive signal lines 3, for example, by arranging the multiple drive signal lines 3 at a predetermined pitch on the second surface 10b side and the first side surface 10c1 of the substrate 10.

[0141] Fig. 21 is a block diagram showing a first example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the sixth embodiment. The configuration of the display device 100 shown in Fig. 21 is based on the first example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the fifth embodiment shown in Fig. 16, for example, and has a modified form in which the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B are not positioned between the multiple drive signal lines 3 on the second surface 10b side and the first side surface 10c1, but are positioned separately from the multiple drive signal lines 3.

[0142] Fig. 22 is a block diagram showing a second example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the sixth embodiment. The configuration of the display device 100 shown in Fig. 22 is based on the second example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the fifth embodiment shown in Fig. 19, for example, and has a modified form in which the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B are not positioned between the multiple drive signal lines 3 on the second surface 10b side and the first side surface 10c1, but are positioned separately from the multiple drive signal lines 3.

[0143] <2-6. Seventh embodiment> 23 and 24, for example, each of the multiple drive signal lines 3 may be located so as to reach the first surface 10a side through the first side surface 10c1 from the second surface 10b side, and one or more of the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B may be located so as to reach the first surface 10a side through a side surface 10c different from the first side surface 10c1 of the multiple side surfaces 10c from the second surface 10b side. In other words, at least one or more of the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B may be located so as to reach the first surface 10a side through the side surface 10c from the second surface 10b side, so as to reach the first surface 10a side through the side surface 10c, so as to pass through a side surface 10c different from the first side surface 10c1 on which the multiple drive signal lines 3 are arranged. As a result, even if there is no room to arrange the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B on one side surface 10c of the substrate 10 after arranging the multiple drive signal lines 3, the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B can be easily arranged by arranging one or more redundant drive signal lines 3B on the other side surface 10c of the substrate 10. Here, for example, all of the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B may be located so as to extend from the second surface 10b side through the side surface 10c to the first surface 10a side, passing through a side surface 10c different from the first side surface 10c1 on which the multiple drive signal lines 3 are arranged.

[0144] Fig. 23 is a block diagram showing a first example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the seventh embodiment. The configuration of the display device 100 shown in Fig. 23 is based on the first example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the sixth embodiment shown in Fig. 21, for example, and has a form in which the path along which each of the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B is arranged is changed to a path from the second surface 10b side through a second side surface 10c2, which is one side surface 10c different from the first side surface 10c1, to the first surface 10a side.

[0145] Fig. 24 is a block diagram showing a second example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the seventh embodiment. The configuration of the display device 100 shown in Fig. 24 is based on the second example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the sixth embodiment shown in Fig. 22, for example, and has a form in which the path along which each of the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B is arranged is changed to a path from the second surface 10b side through a second side surface 10c2, which is a side surface 10c different from the first side surface 10c1, to the first surface 10a side.

[0146] Here, for example, one or more of the redundant drive signal lines 3B may be located so as to pass over the other side surface 10c different from the first side surface 10c1 and the second side surface 10c2. Also, for example, some of the redundant drive signal lines 3B and other redundant drive signal lines 3B may be located so as to pass over different side surfaces 10c. For example, one or more of the redundant drive signal lines 3B may be located so as to pass from the second surface 10b side to the first surface 10a side over the second side surface 10c2, and one or more of the other redundant drive signal lines 3B may be located so as to pass from the second surface 10b side to the first surface 10a side over the fourth side surface 10c4.

[0147] <2-7. Eighth embodiment> In each of the fifth to seventh embodiments, for example, as shown in FIG. 25, each of the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B may have two or more wiring parts (also referred to as redundant wiring parts) 3Bp leading from the drive unit 30 to the image display unit 20. From another point of view, the redundant drive signal line 3B may have a configuration in which the third redundant wiring part 3Ba including the branch part B1 connected to the switching unit 7 in the image display unit 20 leads to the drive unit 30 via each of the two or more redundant wiring parts 3Bp. In this case, for example, in the redundant drive signal line 3B, it is possible to normally supply an image signal from the drive unit 30 to the switching unit 7 using one of the two or more redundant wiring parts 3Bp, and when the one redundant wiring part 3Bp is broken, it is possible to supply an image signal from the drive unit 30 to the switching unit 7 using another one of the two or more redundant wiring parts 3Bp. As a result, even if some of the two or more redundant wiring parts 3Bp of the redundant drive signal line 3B are broken due to various factors such as thermal or mechanical distortion, the other redundant wiring parts 3Bp can be used to maintain a state in which the image signal can be supplied from the redundant drive signal line 3B to the light emission control signal line 5. As a result, for example, deterioration of image quality due to breakage of the drive signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 can be reduced. Here, for example, one or more of the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B may have two or more redundant wiring parts 3Bp extending from the drive unit 30 to the image display unit 20. Also, for example, each of some of the two or more redundant drive signal lines 3B of the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B may have two or more redundant wiring parts 3Bp extending from the drive unit 30 to the image display unit 20.

[0148] Fig. 25 is a block diagram showing a schematic example of a configuration of a display device 100 according to an eighth embodiment. The configuration of the display device 100 shown in Fig. 25 is based on the first example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the fifth embodiment shown in Fig. 16, for example, and has a form modified so that each of the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B has two redundant wiring sections 3Bp extending from the drive section 30 to the image display section 20.

[0149] In the example of FIG. 25, in each of the multiple redundant drive signal lines 3B, the two redundant wiring parts 3Bp include a first redundant wiring part 3Bp1 and a second redundant wiring part 3Bp2. Each of the first redundant wiring part 3Bp1 and the second redundant wiring part 3Bp2 includes, for example, a first redundant wiring part 3Bb on the second surface 10b and a second redundant wiring part 3Bc on the side surface 10c. The second redundant wiring part 3Bc of the first redundant wiring part 3Bp1 and the second redundant wiring part 3Bc of the second redundant wiring part 3Bp2 are connected to one third redundant wiring part 3Ba. This one third redundant wiring part 3Ba is connected to the switching part 7 at the branch part B1.

[0150] As a result, even if the first redundant wiring portion 3Bp1 of the two redundant wiring portions 3Bp in the redundant drive signal line 3B is broken due to various factors such as thermal or mechanical distortion, the second redundant wiring portion 3Bp2 can be used to maintain a state in which an image signal can be supplied from the redundant drive signal line 3B to the light-emission control signal line 5. Also, even if the second redundant wiring portion 3Bp2 of the two redundant wiring portions 3Bp in the redundant drive signal line 3B is broken due to various factors such as thermal or mechanical distortion, the first redundant wiring portion 3Bp1 can be used to maintain a state in which an image signal can be supplied from the redundant drive signal line 3B to the light-emission control signal line 5. As a result, for example, deterioration in image quality due to a break in the drive signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 can be reduced.

[0151] <2-8. Ninth embodiment> In each of the above embodiments, as shown in FIG. 26 and FIG. 27, for example, each of the plurality of driving signal lines 3 may have two or more wiring parts 3p extending from the driving unit 30 to the image display unit 20. Here, for example, the driving signal line 3 may have a configuration in which the third wiring part 3a connected to the switching units 7, 7B in the image display unit 20 reaches the driving unit 30 via each of the two or more wiring parts 3p. In this case, for example, in each of the plurality of driving signal lines 3, an image signal is normally supplied from the driving unit 30 to the switching units 7, 7B using one wiring part 3p out of the two or more wiring parts 3p, and when the one wiring part 3p is broken, an image signal can be supplied from the driving unit 30 to the switching units 7, 7B using another wiring part 3p out of the two or more wiring parts 3p. As a result, even if a part of the wiring parts 3p out of the two or more wiring parts 3p of the driving signal line 3 is broken due to various factors such as thermal or mechanical distortion, the supply of the image signal from the driving signal line 3 to the light emission control signal line 5 can be maintained by using the other wiring part 3p. As a result, for example, degradation of image quality due to disconnection of the drive signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 can be reduced. Here, for example, one or more of the multiple drive signal lines 3 may have two or more wiring portions 3p leading from the drive unit 30 to the image display unit 20. Also, for example, each of some of the multiple drive signal lines 3, two or more drive signal lines 3, may have two or more wiring portions 3p leading from the drive unit 30 to the image display unit 20.

[0152] Fig. 26 is a block diagram showing a first example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the ninth embodiment. The configuration of the display device 100 shown in Fig. 26 is based on the example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the first embodiment shown in Fig. 5, and has a form modified so that each of the multiple drive signal lines 3 has two wiring portions 3p extending from the drive unit 30 to the image display unit 20.

[0153] Fig. 27 is a block diagram showing a second example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the ninth embodiment. The configuration of the display device 100 shown in Fig. 27 is based on the first example of the configuration of the display device 100 according to the fifth embodiment shown in Fig. 16, for example, and has a form modified so that each of the multiple drive signal lines 3 has two wiring portions 3p extending from the drive section 30 to the image display section 20.

[0154] In the examples of FIGS. 26 and 27, in each of the multiple drive signal lines 3, the two wiring portions 3p include a first wiring portion 3p1 and a second wiring portion 3p2. Each of the first wiring portion 3p1 and the second wiring portion 3p2 includes a first wiring portion 3b on the second surface 10b and a second wiring portion 3c on the side surface 10c. The second wiring portion 3c of the first wiring portion 3p1 and the second wiring portion 3c of the second wiring portion 3p2 are connected to one third wiring portion 3a. This one third wiring portion 3a is connected to the switching unit 7.

[0155] As a result, even if the first wiring portion 3p1 of the two wiring portions 3p in the drive signal line 3 is broken due to various factors such as thermal or mechanical distortion, the supply of image signals from the drive signal line 3 to the light-emission control signal line 5 can be maintained by using the second wiring portion 3p2. Also, even if the second wiring portion 3p2 of the two wiring portions 3p in the drive signal line 3 is broken due to various factors such as thermal or mechanical distortion, the supply of image signals from the drive signal line 3 to the light-emission control signal line 5 can be maintained by using the first wiring portion 3p1. As a result, for example, deterioration in image quality due to breakage of the drive signal line 3 outside the image display unit 20 can be reduced.

[0156] <3.Other> In each of the above embodiments, the circuit configuration of each of the switching units 7 and 7B is not limited to the specific circuit configuration described above, and may have various circuit configurations, as long as the circuit configuration is selectively set to the first conductive state and the second conductive state. For example, the switching unit 7 may have a circuit configuration in which an N-channel transistor and a P-channel transistor are interchanged in each of the first gate portion 7G1 and the second gate portion 7G2. Also, for example, the switching unit 7B may have a circuit configuration in which an N-channel transistor and a P-channel transistor are interchanged in each of the first gate portion 7G1, the second gate portion 7G2, and the fourth gate portion 7G4. Also, for example, various circuits or elements other than transfer gate elements may be applied to the first gate portion 7G1, as long as the first gate portion 7G1 is set to a conductive state in which an image signal can be supplied from the normal drive signal line 3 to the light emission control signal line 5 of the light emission control signal line group 50 in response to the input of one or more specific signals. For example, various circuits or elements other than a transfer gate element may be applied to the second gate portion 7G2 as long as the second gate portion 7G2 is set to a conductive state that enables the supply of an image signal from the separate drive signal line 3 to the light emission control signal line 5 of the light emission control signal line group 50 in response to the input of one or more specific signals. Here, depending on the circuit configuration of each switching unit 7, 7B, for example, an H signal may be applied to the first signal and an L signal may be applied to the second signal. In this case, the switching units 7, 7B may be set to a first conductive state by the application of an H signal as the first signal from the switching setting units 9, 9A, and set to a second conductive state by the application of an L signal as the second signal from the switching setting units 9, 9A.

[0157] In each of the above embodiments, the circuit configuration of each of the switching setting units 9, 9A is not limited to the specific circuit configuration described above, and may have various circuit configurations as long as it is a circuit configuration that can selectively provide either the first signal or the second signal to the switching unit 7. For example, the switching setting unit 9A may have a circuit configuration using one or more other logic gates instead of a NOR gate, and provide the second signal to the switching unit 7, 7B in response to the provision of a designation signal corresponding to the switching setting unit 9A, such as a unique address. Here, depending on the circuit configuration of each of the switching setting units 9, 9A, for example, an H signal may be applied to the first signal, and an L signal may be applied to the second signal. In this case, the switching unit 7, 7B may be set to a first conductive state by the provision of an H signal as the first signal from the switching setting unit 9, 9A, and set to a second conductive state by the provision of an L signal as the second signal from the switching setting unit 9, 9A.

[0158] In each of the above embodiments, for example, when the first surface 10a is seen through in a plan view, a very narrow portion (narrow frame portion) in which various wirings and various circuits can be arranged may be present between the end of the first surface 10a and the image display unit 20. In this case, for example, a part or all of the scanning signal line driving unit 2v may be arranged in the narrow frame portion, or a part of the image signal line driving unit 2h may be arranged in the narrow frame portion. Also, for example, the driving unit 30 may be arranged in the narrow frame portion. In this case, for example, the multiple driving signal lines 3 and the multiple redundant driving signal lines 3B may be located from the narrow frame portion to the image display unit 20. The width of the narrow frame portion may be about 5 μm to 100 μm, or about 10 μm to 50 μm, but is not limited to these ranges. Also, for example, the image display unit 20, the driving unit 30, and the multiple driving signal lines 3 may be arranged on various members other than the substrate 10.

[0159] In each of the above embodiments, for example, the switching unit 7 or the switching unit 7B may be disposed for each of a portion of the driving signal lines 3 among all the driving signal lines 3 in the display device 100. In other words, for example, the switching unit 7 or the switching unit 7B may be connected to each of a portion of the driving signal lines 3 among all the driving signal lines 3 in the display device 100.

[0160] In each of the above embodiments, for example, the switching setting unit 9 may be connected to some of the switching units 7 out of the multiple switching units 7, and the switching setting unit 9A may be connected to some of the other switching units 7 out of the multiple switching units 7. For example, the switching setting unit 9 may be connected to some of the switching units 7B out of the multiple switching units 7B, and the switching setting unit 9A may be connected to some of the other switching units 7B out of the multiple switching units 7B.

[0161] In each of the above embodiments, for example, each of the plurality of pixel units 2 may have two or more sub-pixel units among the first sub-pixel unit 2r, the second sub-pixel unit 2g, and the third sub-pixel unit 2b. The first color of light emitted by the first sub-pixel unit 2r may be, for example, other than red. The second color of light emitted by the second sub-pixel unit 2g may be, for example, other than green. The third color of light emitted by the third sub-pixel unit 2b may be, for example, other than blue. Each of the plurality of pixel units 2 may have a configuration similar to that of one sub-pixel unit emitting light of one color. In other words, for example, each pixel unit 2 may have a light-emitting element emitting light of one color, or may have a plurality of light-emitting elements each emitting light of two or more colors different from each other. For example, if each pixel unit 2 has a light-emitting element emitting light of one color, the selector unit 8 is not necessary. In this case, for example, the light-emission control signal line 5 may be directly connected to the switching unit 7.

[0162] In each of the above embodiments, for example, each of the first surface 10a and the second surface 10b of the substrate 10 may be a surface other than a rectangular surface having four sides. Each of the first surface 10a and the second surface 10b may be a polygonal surface such as a pentagonal surface or a hexagonal surface.

[0163] In each of the above embodiments, for example, the display device 100 may not be applied to the tiling display 900 but may be used as a standalone display device.

[0164] It goes without saying that all or part of the components constituting each of the above-described embodiments and various modified examples can be appropriately combined to the extent that no contradiction occurs. [Explanation of symbols]
