Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of refillable container devices for cosmetic products. [Background technology]

[0002] By cosmetics is meant all compositions intended to be applied to the body, including all products for making up the skin, including in particular the lips, and also what are called care products, such as moisturizing creams, etc. It is particularly relevant in the field of refills for refillable container devices for cosmetics.

[0003] Container device for a cosmetic generally designates any container used to contain a cosmetic product for its storage, its transportation, its merchandising, or its use. For example, pots, bottles, cases, etc. used to contain cosmetic products are so designated.

[0004] By refill is meant a removable member including a container configured to hold a cosmetic product, which can be placed within and removed from a casing that forms the exterior of the refillable cosmetic container device constituted by the casing and the refill.

[0005] When placed in the casing, the refill needs to be properly retained in the casing. In particular, it should be avoided that the refill can leak out of the casing when it is transported or used, when the pot may have any orientation, in particular when the container device is turned completely upside down, whether this occurs from an intentional act or not. Furthermore, the refill must not move within the casing when the container device is in use. The refill needs to remain fixed when the product is dispensed, for example when the user removes the product from the refill.

[0006] Nevertheless, it must be possible for the refill to be easily extracted from the casing in order for it to be replaced.

[0007] Known refillable container devices are generally equipped with systems for retaining the refill within the casing that are visible and require unaesthetic and / or industrially complex or expensive constructions.

[0008] Thus, document JP 2013-119399 discloses a pot for cosmetic products, equipped with a refill in which the general shape of the container is a cylinder of revolution, with a relief that slides in a vertical groove in the casing of the pot to prevent the container from rotating due to the matching shape.

[0009] Document EP 0 661 012 also discloses a pot device with a refill, which comprises an inner container or receptacle which engages by means of a matching shape in an outer receptacle forming a casing, making it possible in particular for the inner receptacle to include a peripheral ridge which cooperates with a groove formed on the inside of the neck of the outer receptacle.

[0010] Document WO 2019 / 058087 also discloses a kettle device with a refill in a closed configuration, comprising an inner container or receptacle that engages by a matching shape in an outer receptacle forming a casing, the casing comprising a peripheral ridge cooperating with a groove formed in the outer surface of the container. The upper part of the casing has a neck including slots into which radial beads of the container are inserted to enable the container to be held against rotation.

[0011] Thus, container devices with refills known in the state of the art are based on a shape match between the casing and the refill, which allows the refill to be held in the casing, for example by a snap engagement (or other relative mechanical engagement). This requires a specific shape of the casing and the refill, which prevents the use of a conventionally shaped casing, such as a standard glass container, to form a refillable container device, and similarly prevents the use of a refill in the form of a conventionally shaped container, such as a conventionally shaped glass or stainless steel container. [0012] [Patent Document 1] JP 2013-119399 A [Patent Document 2] European Patent No. 0661012 [Patent Document 3] International Publication No. 2019 / 058087 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0013] The present invention aims to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks in whole or in part. [Means for solving the problem]

[0014] The present invention therefore relates to a casing for a refillable cosmetic container device, the casing being configured to accommodate a refill adapted to contain said cosmetic product, the casing comprising an opening configured to accommodate the refill for placement in a predetermined position within a storage volume defined by an inner wall of the casing, the inner wall of the casing comprising, over at least a portion of its surface, a member made of an elastomeric material connected to the casing and at least partially in relief relative to said surface of the inner wall of the casing.

[0015] The casing thus formed is able to hold a refill of suitable shape thanks to the embossed features of elastomeric material formed on the inner wall of the casing. The resulting retention force, which nevertheless allows the refill to be extracted, uses the elastic properties and coefficient of friction of the elastomeric material. Use of the refill is therefore very simple.

[0016] A member of elastomeric material may be molded onto the casing.

[0017] The casing may be made of a plastic material, and the casing and its associated elastomeric material members may be integrally formed by bi-component injection molding.

[0018] The casing can thus be manufactured by known and mastered industrial processes that provide a good bond between the casing and the member of elastomeric material that it supports.

[0019] The elastomer material used may be, for example, a thermoplastic elastomer or a silicone elastomer, which may have a hardness comprised between 20 degrees Shore and 80 degrees Shore, preferably between 40 degrees Shore and 60 degrees Shore.

[0020] The elastomeric material used and its hardness allow its deformation under reasonable forces, compatible with application in cosmetic refills.

[0021] The elastomeric member may extend in one or more strips parallel to the opening in the casing.

[0022] The member of elastomeric material may form individual projections distributed over the surface of the inner wall of the casing.

[0023] The piece of elastomeric material may form at least two projections, preferably at least three projections, distributed around the periphery of the surface of the inner wall of the casing.

[0024] Different configurations of elastomeric material members allow the support zone to be tailored for application, refill retention, retention strength, aesthetics, packaging complexity, and the like.

[0025] In such a casing, the containment volume may have the general shape of a cylinder of revolution, or a truncated cone, or a right prism.

[0026] These are configurations that are particularly suitable for implementing the present invention.

[0027] A portion of the inner wall of the casing may form a neck adjacent the opening in the casing, and a member of elastomeric material may be disposed on the portion of a surface of the inner wall of the casing that forms the neck.

[0028] The casing may be made of, for example, plastic material, glass, stainless steel, aluminum or wood. The casing is in fact dyed, an aesthetic aspect which may be of utmost importance in the cosmetic field.

[0029] The present invention also relates to a container device for a cosmetic product comprising a casing as defined above and a refill having a side wall having a clearance relative to the inner wall of the casing, except at the location of all or part of the elastomeric material element, so that a support zone for the elastomeric material element on the side wall of the refill is formed.

[0030] Since retention of the refill within the casing is provided in a support zone, the means enabling retention can be made invisible (if the casing is opaque) or at least very discrete so as not to be detrimental to the aesthetics of the pot in which they are constructed.

[0031] The piece of elastomeric material can be deformed in said support zone by compression of the side wall of the refill compared to the configuration that the piece of elastomeric material adopts in the absence of any external action.

[0032] Deformation of the member of elastomeric material on the support zone increases the force it exerts on the inner surface of the casing, thereby increasing the frictional force opposing extraction of the refill.

[0033] In one embodiment, the sidewall of the refill is free of irregularities such as snap rings, studs, openings or grooves.

[0034] As it is not based on a snap-fit or screw-fit principle, or on the engagement of one member with another of matching shapes, the retention of the refill does not need to have any particular shape formed thereon configured to cooperate with the retention means of the casing.

[0035] In the above defined container device, in which the refill is filled with the cosmetic product, the casing and the refill can be configured such that the force required to extract the refill is at least 2 times, preferably at least 2.5 times, greater than the weight of the refill, in particular the shape, size and configuration of the member of elastomeric material are configured to obtain the desired extraction force of the refill.

[0036] This retention allows the refill to be extracted and replaced relatively easily, which corresponds to the desired specifications of a conventional pot for cosmetic products.

[0037] The container device may in particular be a pot, for example a cream pot.

[0038] Further features and advantages of the present invention will appear in the following description.

[0039] In the accompanying drawings, given as non-limiting examples: [Brief description of the drawings]

[0040] [Figure 1] 1 shows a three-dimensional view of a first example of a refill that can be mounted in a cosmetic container device according to an embodiment of the present invention; [Diagram 2] 1 illustrates a first example of a casing for a refillable cosmetic container device in a three-dimensional view according to a first exemplary embodiment of the present invention. [Diagram 3] 2 shows a casing according to a second exemplary embodiment of the present invention in a three-dimensional view. [Figure 4] 4 shows a casing according to a third exemplary embodiment of the present invention in a three-dimensional view. [Diagram 5] 3 shows in cross-section a cosmetic container device, i.e. a pot, formed from the casing of FIG. 2 and the refill of FIG. 1; [Figure 6] 6 shows, in partial cross-section, the interaction between a casing and a refill in the container device of FIG. 5; DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0041] FIG. 1 shows in a three-dimensional view a first example of a refill 1 configured for use in a refillable cosmetic container device according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0042] The refill 1 comprises a container 2 which is hollow, i.e. the shape of which forms a volume adapted to contain a cosmetic product.

[0043] In the example shown here, the container 2 has a general cylindrical shape, which may be a right-angled cylinder or slightly flared (frusto-conical), however, any hollow shape, in particular any right-angled prism shape, can be envisaged to form a container having shapes, in particular square, rectangular, pentagonal, hexagonal, octagonal, etc.

[0044] In particular, the container 2 has a side wall 3 and a bottom 4 .

[0045] The container, in the example shown, comprises an upper rim 5. The rim 5 is formed around the open face 6 of the container 2.

[0046] The cosmetic product, e.g. a cream, can be contained in a volume formed in the container. The open face of the container can be covered by a removable cap, e.g. a plate for protecting the product, e.g. a rim 5 formed on the top of the container and / or supporting shoulders. The container may also be provided with a closure, e.g. heat sealed, covering the open face 6, which must be removed when the refill is first used. The open face can be transparent, directly exposing the product contained in the refill container 2, or can be provided with an adjustment device, such as a screen, net, or other device configured to dispense the product.

[0047] The refill therefore has a simple conventional shape.

[0048] Here, the refill, and in particular its side wall 3, and more particularly the outer surface 7 of its side wall 3, is devoid of indentations or other snap fastening means.

[0049] By irregularities is meant volumes that are hollow or embossed elements formed on the surface and of dimensions substantially greater than the possible roughness associated with the material that constitutes said surface. The sidewall surface 3 in particular does not comprise snap-fastening rings, pins, openings or any grooves.

[0050] Thus, refills can be easily manufactured or can consist of standard containers such as plastic, glass or stainless steel pots.

[0051] As a refill, it is possible to use existing containers, such as conventional glassware containers that are not adapted as refills for cosmetic container devices.

[0052] Thus, the manufacturing costs of the container (and ultimately the container device) can be reduced compared to container devices in which the container must be provided with specific parts for fixing inside the casing.

[0053] FIG. 2 shows an example of a casing 8 which can be used to form a container device (here a pot) for a cosmetic product comprising a refill 1 according to the invention, for example the refill of FIG.

[0054] The casing is configured to contain the refill and designates the member in which the refill is held. The casing in Figure 2 is a bottle defining a containment volume configured to contain the refill 1 by means of an opening 9.

[0055] The casing 8 comprises a generally prismatic body 10 having a square base with slightly convex sides. The casing 8 has an important aesthetic function, as it constitutes the visible part of the pot once it is constructed. The body 10 of the casing 8 is capped by a neck 11 provided with a thread 12 which allows a screw cap (not shown) to be fitted in place.

[0056] The mouth of the neck 11 is formed with a shoulder 13. The shoulder 13 is dimensioned to receive the rim 5 of the container 2 of the refill 1 in a supported manner thereon.

[0057] The shoulder 13 is optional and may support the refill perpendicularly to another surface of the casing, for example the rim 5 of the refill 1 container 2 may support directly on the neck 11 or for example if there is no rim 5 of the refill container 2 the bottom 4 of the container may support the bottom of the casing if it includes a bottom. A bottomless casing 8 may be advantageous to facilitate withdrawal of the refill.

[0058] The casing has on its inner wall 14 an element of elastomeric material 15. The element of elastomeric material 15 is intimately connected to the casing.

[0059] Typically, a piece of elastomeric material may be moulded onto the casing 8 .

[0060] Overmolding of the member 15 of elastomeric material onto the casing 8 is possible, in particular on a casing 8 made of a plastic material, metal, glass or another material compatible with overmolding.

[0061] If the casing 8 is made from a plastic material, the elastomeric material member 15 and the casing 8 can be formed by bi-injection molding.

[0062] The elastomeric materials that can be used to form the elastomeric material components include all thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) as well as silicone elastomers. The materials that can be used advantageously have a Shore hardness comprised between 20 degrees Shore and 80 degrees Shore, preferably between 40 and 60 degrees Shore.

[0063] The hardness of the material used is an important parameter in optimizing the refill and is selected in particular according to the dimensions of the refill container and the material used to form the casing for containing the refill to form a container device for the cosmetic product.

[0064] The member 15 of elastomeric material is in relief relative to the inner wall 14 of the casing 8 .

[0065] In other words, over at least a portion of the elastomeric material member 15 , the member stands out against the inner wall 14 .

[0066] Thus, protrusions 16 may be formed by the element of elastomeric material 15. These protrusions 16 form part of the element of elastomeric material that has the function of retaining the refill 1 within the storage volume, as will be explained in more detail below.

[0067] The number, size, shape and orientation of the projections 16 may vary depending on the application contemplated.More generally, there are many configurations that can be envisaged for the member of elastomeric material.

[0068] According to a first configuration, shown in FIG. 2, a member of elastomeric material 15 forms a peripheral strip around the inner wall 14 .

[0069] This strip is formed in the upper part of the container 2, here below the rim 5. This strip comprises three projections 16 distributed along the periphery of the inner wall 14 which supports said strip.

[0070] With the exception of the projections 16 which are necessarily in relief relative to the inner wall 14 of the casing 8, the remaining elements 15 of elastomeric material may be in relief or flush with the inner wall 14.

[0071] For this purpose, a groove may be formed in the inner wall 14 to receive said member 15 of elastomeric material.

[0072] The distribution of the three projections 16 is preferably regular, ie they are equidistant along the strip formed by the member 15 of elastomeric material.

[0073] In the case of a casing in which the opening 9 defined by the neck 11 typically has the shape of a surface of revolution, this results in a regular angular distribution of the projections 16 relative to the axis of rotation of the opening 9 of the neck 11 .

[0074] In this embodiment, the protrusions 16 have a vertical arrangement, i.e. they form an elongated relief from the top (the opening of the neck 11 of the casing 8) to the bottom (the bottom of the casing 8 if said casing has a bottom).

[0075] More generally, the projections are oriented perpendicular to the plane embodied by the opening 9 in the casing provided for the insertion of the refill 1 .

[0076] In this embodiment, the number of protrusions formed by the piece of elastomeric material can be easily adapted with little modification to the manufacturing tool.

[0077] In a variation of this embodiment, the member of elastomeric material 15 is formed from a plurality of projections 16, rather than being interconnected by a strip of elastomeric material.

[0078] Figure 3 shows in a three-dimensional view a casing 8 according to a second exemplary embodiment of the invention. The embodiment of Figure 3 is substantially identical to the embodiment of Figure 2, so that the description of Figure 1 applies thereto, except for the configuration of the element of elastomeric material 15. Here, the element of elastomeric material 15 has the form of two parallel strips in relief relative to the inner wall 14 of the casing.

[0079] Many other configurations of the elastomeric material member 15 can be envisaged, for example a single strip embossed against the inner wall 14 of the casing, a strip in a zigzag or undulating shape, or a combination of one or more strips with protrusions 16.

[0080] FIG. 4 shows in a three-dimensional view a casing 8 according to a third exemplary embodiment of the invention. This embodiment is substantially identical to the embodiment of FIG. 1, as the description applies thereto, except for the shape of the internal volume of the casing. The embodiment of FIG. 4 shows that a perfect correspondence of shape between the refill's storage volume and the shape of the refill is not necessary over the entire surface of the refill to ensure its retention as described in FIGS. 5 and 6. In the example of the casing shown here, the inner wall of the casing 14 forms a neck in the vicinity of the opening 9 of the casing. Below the neck 11, the storage volume flares out. The casing thus has the shape of a conventional bottle or pot, the cross section of the pot's internal volume being larger than the cross section of its opening 9. A member 15 of elastomeric material is arranged in the part of the inner wall of the casing that forms the neck 11. Retention of the refill 1 in the casing 8 is thus provided only at the neck 11.

[0081] The casings shown in Figures 2-4 may be formed from a variety of materials (except for the elastomeric material components). For example, the casing may be formed from glass. Any shade of glass may be used, particularly transparent, translucent, opaque, tinted or untinted.

[0082] The casing can be made from many other materials depending on the desired appearance, volume, shape, and desired method of closure, etc. In particular, the casing can be made of a plastic material, wood, metal (such as stainless steel, tinplate, or aluminum).

[0083] Figure 5 shows in cross section a container device, i.e. a pot, formed from the casing of Figure 2 and the refill of Figure 1. The cross section is in a diametric plane of the casing 8, as shown in Figures 2 to 4 (plane P).

[0084] Thus, the pot shown in FIG. 5 comprises a casing 8 in the form of a container with thick walls, which forms a receiving volume in which the refill 1 is accommodated.

[0085] In the example shown, the shape of the internal volume of the casing 8 thus coincides, the clearance being the only difference being the external shape of the container 2 (e.g. cylindrical or slightly frusto-conical). The depth of this volume is slightly greater than the overall height of the refill 1, such that the rim 5 of the refill supports a shoulder 13 formed at the mouth of the neck 11.

[0086] FIG. 6 shows a detailed view of the interaction between the casing 8 and the refill 1 in the pot of FIG. 5, based on the same cross section as FIG.

[0087] In particular, FIG. 6 reveals the supporting relationship formed between the rim 5 and the shoulder 13 of the casing 8 .

[0088] Between the inner wall 14 of the casing 8 and the outer surface 7 of the side wall 3 of the container 2 there is a clearance J of, for example, about 0.5 mm for a pot of conventional cosmetic cream of, for example, 60 mL.

[0089] The member 15 of elastomeric material is, in the example shown, provided flush or substantially flush with the surface of the inner wall 14 of the casing 8 and with the projection 16 which it forms and which is embossed or projects relative to the inner wall 14.

[0090] Each projection 16 forms a projection relative to the level of the inner wall 14 of thickness E greater than the clearance J when the projection is not subject to external mechanical constraint, in particular when the projection 16 is not deformed by compression.

[0091] This free configuration of the projections 16 is represented by dashed lines in Figure 6. In the example shown, the thickness E may be of the order of 1 mm, for example of the order of 0.9 mm.

[0092] In order to insert the refill 1 into the casing 8 and achieve the supporting relationship of the rim 5 on the shoulder 13 , the projection 16 must be deformed to allow the insertion of the refill 1 into the casing 8 .

[0093] When the refill 1 is in the casing 8, the projection 16 is compressed and therefore has a thickness equal to the clearance J. The projection 16 therefore fills the clearance J and, due to its elasticity, exerts a supporting force on the side wall 3 of the container 2 of the refill 1.

[0094] Advantageously, there are several support protrusions distributed around the container 2 so as to distribute support across the side wall 3 and ensure effective and uniform retention of the container 2 within the casing 8 .

[0095] In fact, each support zone formed at the location of each projection 16 forms a zone that ensures the retention of the container 2 (and therefore the refill 1) in the casing 8. When a force is applied tending to extract the refill 1 from the casing 8, a force opposing said extraction is generated by reaction at the projection due to the interaction between each projection 16 and the side wall 3 of the refill 1, whereby the projection 16 is compressed. This force is generated by friction of the projections 16 on the inner casing wall 18.

[0096] As long as the container 2 does not move within the casing 8, this is the so-called dry friction force, the strength of which is approximately equal for each protrusion 16 to a maximum the coefficient of static friction between the protrusions 16 multiplied by the force exerted between the inner wall 14 of the casing 8 and the protrusions 16 due to their compression. When the force trying to pull the container out of the casing 8 exceeds the sum of the maximum static friction forces exerted at the locations of the protrusions 16, the refill 1 will start to move relative to the casing 8 due to its extraction.

[0097] Thus, the number of protrusions, their dimensions, the elastomeric material used, as well as the material from which the container 2 is made and the condition of the outer surface 7 of the container's side wall 3, appear to be parameters that make it possible to adjust the force required to place the refill 1 in place and to withdraw it.

[0098] With respect to an elastomeric material member, the material it comprises, the total supporting surface area (sum of supporting surface areas) between said elastomeric material member and the outer surface 7 of the container side wall 3, and the total force exerted by compression of said elastomeric material member are important parameters in determining the configuration of the elastomeric material member.

[0099] Whatever the embodiment considered, it is recommended that for cosmetic pots the force required to extract the refill is at least twice the weight of a full refill, for example around 2.5 times the weight of a full refill.

[0100] The presence of at least three regularly distributed projections, as in the example shown, also allows central positioning of the refill within the casing 8.

[0101] In order to facilitate placing the refill 1 in place within the casing 8, the protrusions 16, in the example of FIG. 6, have a so-called vertically domed, bevelled or chamfered shape, which also corresponds to the direction of insertion (and withdrawal) of the refill, thereby allowing gradual compression of the protrusions when inserting the refill 1 into the casing 8.

[0102] In the example shown, the projections 16 have a vertically elongated shape, i.e. parallel to the direction of insertion and withdrawal of the refill. A chamfer 17 is formed on the projections 16 to facilitate insertion of the refill 1 into the casing 8.

[0103] Although described with reference to three detailed embodiments, the invention is of course not limited to these. In particular, the respective configurations of the elastomeric member, the refill and / or the casing may be very different from those described above. For example, the presence of protrusions on the member of elastomeric material is optional, provided that at least a part of said member of elastomeric material is in relief with respect to the inner wall of the casing. A very wide variety of forms of the member of elastomeric material can be envisaged.

[0104] Several different pieces of elastomeric material may be present in the same casing.

[0105] The container may have a variety of shapes and configurations depending on the intended use. Similarly, the casing may have a variety of shapes and configurations.

[0106] For example, the container may be cubic, cylindrical, cubic or parallelepiped, spherical, with or without a bottom, or may be provided with an aperture at its bottom to facilitate withdrawal of the refill.

[0107] The invention thus developed allows for the removable retention of a cosmetic refill in the casing in order to form an aesthetic and refillable cosmetic container device by replacing the refill. The retention is obtained by friction of an elastomeric material member on the outer surface of the refill wall. The retention means, in particular the elastomeric member, can be completely invisible once the pot is constructed and can be unnoticeable within the casing.

[0108] Furthermore, the refill may have a shape that is easy to manufacture, since the outer surface of the refill container, which is provided to interact with the elastomeric material member of the casing to hold the refill, does not require the formation of any specific mechanical device. Thus, existing containers, such as conventional glass containers, simple plastic, metal containers, etc., can be used as refill containers for the cosmetic container device without adaptation.
