Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention generally relates to the field of jewelry, and more particularly to jewelry including a clip-on chain capable of making different types of ornaments. This is particularly applied to the techniques of jewelry craftsmen.
Background Art
[0002] In the field of jewelry, chain systems are known that can make different types of ornaments by moving one or more fixing systems along the chain. However, the attachment systems are generally not aesthetic, and as a result, these have to be hidden within the decoration. In addition, they cannot take many positions and thus cannot achieve many shapes and uses. Since the attachment systems are generally made from two complementary parts with complementary decorations, generally the attachment points cannot be moved. To avoid this problem, it has been proposed to use a "naked" fixing system without decoration that increases the degree of freedom of positioning and cover it with a separate detachable decoration, thereby hiding these fixing systems. This applies, for example, to the cases described in the pamphlet of International Publication No. WO 2015 / 054568 A1 or the specification of US Patent No. 5,214,940 A. However, such a solution has problems, particularly one of them being that there is a possibility of losing the decoration due to its detachable nature. Furthermore, the documents of US Patent Application Publication No. US 2002 / 148251 A1, US Patent Application Publication No. US 2018 / 360174 A1, US Patent Application Publication No. US 2018 / 103731 A1, and US Patent No. 6,701,583 are known.
Summary of the Invention
Means for Solving the Problems
[0003] First, the present invention proposes a jewelry item, which includes at least one chain having two ends on both sides. At least one of the two ends of the chain includes a hollow clip fixed to the end by a fixing device. The chain is made of links joined to each other, and the links are separated from each other by a connection portion forming a joint between the links. The clip is composed of two half-shells, and each half-shell includes an extended edge defining the hollow internal space of the half-shell. At least one of the two edges includes at least one notch defining a chain passage. The half-shells are hinged between a closed position where the two edges of the two half-shells are integrated to close the clip and an open position where the two edges of the two half-shells are separated from each other over at least a part of their extent, and a part of the chain can pass through between the two separated edges and into the internal space. Thereby, when the clip is in the closed position, a part of the chain is held within the clip by being blocked with respect to pulling and translation, and that part of the chain corresponds to the part that enters or exits the clip through the chain passage. The jewelry item has at least three notches. Each link has a predetermined maximum cross-sectional dimension, each connection portion has a predetermined maximum cross-sectional dimension, each chain passage has a predetermined minimum cross-sectional dimension and a predetermined maximum cross-sectional dimension in the closed position of the clip. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0009] The following description of the accompanying drawings, presented as a non-limiting example, will clarify what the present invention comprises and how it can be implemented.
[0010] First, regarding the present invention, the term "chain" must be interpreted in its general meaning and encompasses all kinds of flexible linear continuous elements that can match the shape of the object in which it is placed. The elements constituting the chain can be either single-strand or multi-strand. These elements can be made of the same material over their length, such as metal (typically mesh or rings), or a metal assembly, such as metal + wire or strip-like fabric (e.g., a fabric strip passed through the rings of a metal chain, braiding), and / or can be continuously assembled along the length of the element, for example, metal at both ends of the metal and the textile yarns or strips between them. The metal is preferably a so-called "noble" metal, typically gold, silver, an alloy. The elements forming the chain can include rigid bodies along their length, provided that the individual lengths are made short to impart flexibility, which can be, for example, nacre, coral, or glass beads so that they can form a pearl or coral necklace, and the elements include wire on which the pearls are arranged at regular or irregular intervals. The chain can also be or include an optical fiber or a fiber optic cable assembly.
[0011] The present invention thus implements at least one chain 1, which includes at least one clip 2 fixed to one end of the chain. In the example of the figure, one chain 1 is implemented, and each of the two ends on both sides thereof has a clip 2. The clip enables a part of the chain to be pinched and held, which is similar to a chain fastener, but this fastener operates between one end of the chain and a part between the two ends of the chain, which is different.
[0012] In FIG. 1, the clip 2 with a hollow interior is in the open position. The clip 2 consists of two half-shells 21, 22, and each half-shell 21, 22 includes edges 25, 26 that define a hollow internal space within each half-shell. The two half-shells 21, 22 are integrally hinged by a hinge 20, and the hinge here includes an elastic clip device that is a spiral spring 23 that applies a force to the clip to close it.
[0013] In this example, the joint disposed within the internal space has a rotational axis which is parallel to the general plane of the half-shell (horizontal when one of the half-shells is placed flat horizontally). Here, the joint 20 is installed within the hollow internal space, offset towards the edges 25, 26.
[0014] In other embodiments, the joint can be formed on or otherwise disposed on the edges 25, 26. For example, if the widths of the two half-shells are different, a spring installed centrally and extending longitudinally (when one of the half-shells is placed flat horizontally) between the centers of the bottoms of the two half-shells can tilt and perhaps translate the two half-shells relative to each other to open the clip. The central spring can actually bend laterally under the influence of a lateral thrust of one of the half-shells with respect to the other.
[0015] The open position of the clip 2 is the position where the force is applied, because the rest position is the closed position of the clip 2. In practice, to open the clip, it is necessary to hold the clip 2 by hand and cause the two half-shells 21, 22 to open at an angle with respect to each other here at a portion of their edges 25, 26. In this example, in the closed position of the clip 2, the two edges 25, 26 are in substantial contact with each other. In other embodiments, the half-shells can have different widths or diameters, and one half-shell can partially fit over the other by tilting and perhaps translate there.
[0016] In a variant embodiment in which the two half-shells include complementary closing locking means that must be unlocked to open the clip, the open position of the clip is the rest position, i.e., when the complementary locking means are unlocked, a force is applied to the two half-shells by an elastic release device to open, and to close the clip, the two half-shells are brought closer together and a manual operation is required to lock the complementary locking means. The elastic release device can also be a spiral spring, in which case a force is applied to the clip to open it and it is arranged along the joint 20 as in that of FIG. 1.
[0017] In the clip of FIG. 1, the separation of the edges is obtained by tilting one half-shell with respect to the other, allowing an angled spacing of the edges in a way similar to opening a mussel. In other embodiments, with different arrangements of joints, the separation of the edges can be obtained by tilting one half-shell with respect to the other and translating it, also resulting in an angled separation of the edges and possibly translation. For example, if one half-shell is narrower than the other, a spiral spring can be attached between the centers of the two half-shells inside the clip, thereby tilting the wider one with respect to the other and possibly translating it (the centers of the two hemispheres shift).
[0018] Other joint systems can also be used to separate the edges and open the clip, in particular by sliding one half-shell over the other, remaining in a plane parallel to each other, unlike the previously described case of angled tilting.
[0019] A chain (not shown in FIG. 1) is fixed to one of the half-shells by a fixing device 3 towards the rear of the joint 20 and thus cannot be seen in FIG. 1 depending on the orientation of the clip 2. On the other hand, in FIG. 2, fixing devices 3 for fixing each of the two ends of the chain 1 to the corresponding clip 2 are shown.
[0020] The edges 25, 26 of the half shells have notches 24, which face each other in pairs of two when the clip is closed. Therefore, a larger chain passage is obtained compared to the case of non-facing notches, but the size of the facing or non-facing notches can be adjusted as required. The notches correspond to the side of the clip where a portion of the chain can enter or exit the clip. A portion of the chain corresponds to the portion of chain 1 that is clipped / captured by clip 2. The concept of the entry and exit of a portion of the chain is optional, and a portion of the chain has two ends, one of which optionally matches the input and then the other matches the output. Further, this description of entry and exit is irrelevant to the method of inserting the chain into the clip, i.e., the chain is not passed through the notches. To insert a portion of the chain into the clip, the clip is opened, the portion of the chain is passed through a notch selected according to the ornament being made over one of the half shells, and the clip is closed. The size of each notch or each pair of notches in the case of non-facing notches is adjusted according to the size of the connection between the links in the closed position of the clip, so that the position of the notches on the edge of the half shell, the hollow space available within the half shell, and the distance between the links along the chain are such that the links are positioned / arranged in the notches so that the clip closes effectively when a portion of the chain is sandwiched in the closed clip. Since the links of the chain are articulated with each other and there may also be a certain amount of play in the specific length direction (along the chain), the positioning of the links at the level of the notches in the closed position of the clip is relatively easy.
[0021] More generally, the links of the sandwiched portion of the chain are not clamped by the rigid parts inside the half shell, and, due to the configuration as described above, are not clamped by the notches and do not get marked on their surfaces. In addition, by adjusting the size of the link and the size of the chain passage formed by each notch, the clamping by the notch and the clip in contact with the link at the notch is performed at a lower pressure, and it is always prevented that the surface of the connection part gets marked. The shape of the notch can also be adapted to the shape of the connection part. For example, when the link is substantially cylindrical, one notch or a pair of notches forming the chain passage is cylindrical, and the diameter of the passage is adjusted according to the diameter of the connection part. More generally, the shape of the chain passage can correspond to the impression of the shape of the connection part, and thereby, when the connection part has a flat surface part, the connection can also be locked in the rotational direction.
[0022] Accordingly, a portion of the chain can be captured within the hollow internal space of the clip, and the chain can be inserted into these notches in such a way that the clip can be closed with a portion of the chain captured inside the clip 2. When a portion of the chain is gripped by the clip, this portion is held with respect to pulling and translation / sliding and possibly rotation, and this portion of the chain is completely fixed within the clip, because a connection part of a size smaller compared to the link is held within a pair of notches having a passage dimension adjusted according to the dimension of the connection part, and because the shape of the passage is the impression of the shape of the connection part.
[0023] In a variant regarding the chain with links, the passage dimension of the notch is adjusted according to the dimension of the link passing flatly through the notch, and the shape of the passage is the impression of the outer shape of the link. In this variant, it should be understood that connection parts of a smaller size can also pass through the notch, but because the adjacent links are substantially perpendicular to each other, this portion of the chain is actually blocked within the clip.
[0024] In this embodiment, three pairs of notches 24 are formed along the edges 25, 26.
[0025] The half shell can have any useful and decorative shape.
[0026] The outer surface of the half shell may include a decorative motif, perhaps including gemstones or semi-precious stones, or simply a decorative insert. In FIG. 2, the decorative pattern of the clip 2, which designs the calyx of the flower with the stone part and the metal part, can be seen more clearly.
[0027] The chain in FIG. 2 has clips at its two ends. The lower clip 2 in FIG. 2 forms a simple pendant and is not used to hold a part of the chain. In contrast, the upper clip 2 in FIG. 2 serves to sandwich a part of the chain and is thus an assembly of a Y-shaped structure. In the case of the upper clip 2 in FIG. 2, a part of the chain enters from one side of the clip and exits from the other side of the clip.
[0028] It is also conceivable to configure the clip so that it sandwiches a plurality of parts of the chain.
[0029] Since there is a hollow internal space in the clip, it is assumed that an elastic material, such as synthetic foam, is attached therein, which compresses a part of the chain and serves to hold it better in the clip. In fact, if the internal space is large enough, it is also assumed that a very long part of the chain can be folded and placed therein to shorten the apparent length of the ornament.
[0030] Since there is a hollow internal space in the clip, it is anticipated that a porous material or a material that is absorbent and can hold a few drops of perfume compatible with the material of the ornament is attached, and the material can be removed.
[0031] Since there is a hollow internal space within the clip, it is envisaged that a part of it will be left for attaching an electronic device. For example, for illuminating the stone of the half shell from the inside and / or for illuminating the core of one or more optical fibers that are part of the chain, an LED light source (e.g., the end of the fiber at the end of the chain attached to the clip enters the clip and can receive light therein). The notch can form somewhat of a dot-like light source along the chain and can perhaps be formed along the optical fiber for illuminating pearls or other decorative elements installed along the chain from the inside.
[0032] As an example of how jewelry can be implemented as a decorative item, FIGS. 3 to 10 show various ways of attaching the clip of a single-strand chain that includes clips at each end of both ends. As can be seen from the figures, the chain can be wound around the neck, wrist, or waist.
[0033] In FIG. 3, a very long necklace is made, and the clip at the first end of the chain is hooked near its second end.
[0034] In FIGS. 4 and 5, a double long necklace or necklace type is made by hooking two clips at different points along the chain.
[0035] In FIG. 6, a five-link bracelet is made. In the case of a bracelet, one or more clips can be used to hook the chain.
[0036] In FIG. 7, a pendant belt is made, and one clip is used for attachment.
[0037] In FIG. 8, an epaulet necklace similar in configuration to the double necklace in FIG. 4 is made.
[0038] In FIG. 9, a Y shape is made, and the clip at the first end of the chain is attached at a position away from the second end of the chain.
[0039] In FIG. 10, a double Y-color is created, which is deformed from the Y-color of FIG. 9 by winding it twice around the neck to create it.
[0040] It can be clearly seen that other types of ornaments can also be produced according to the number of clips used to attach the chain and the attachment positions along the chain.
[0041] More generally, the holding portions of the chain and the clip can be freely positioned according to the needs, wishes, and / or system of the person wearing the jewelry, and high adaptability can be obtained.
[0042] In addition, although each clip is shown as being hooked onto one part of the chain, it is also possible to hook the same clip onto two or even more parts of the chain, especially if possible given the diameter of the chain and the size of the clip.
[0043] Finally, preferably, the clip is non-removably fixed at / at the end of the chain, and additional clips that can further enhance the variety are supplied together with or separately from the jewelry by fixing them along the at least one chain or at the free end of the chain.
