Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] The present invention relates to devices and systems for delivering volatile compositions for air freshening and / or benefit provision, and in particular to a hook for a volatile composition dispenser and a volatile composition dispensing system. [Background technology]
[0002] It is well known that air freshening devices can be used to provide pleasant fragrances or other emanations for olfactory detection within rooms of a home, office, or other interior environment. Typically, such devices perpetuate a volatile composition, such as a fragrance, odor masker, medicinal agent, disinfectant, deodorizer, insect repellent, aromatherapy material, vaporized drug, or other volatile composition, either by energized or non-energized means. The device may be placed in an interior space of the interior environment. However, consumers may prefer a portable device that can be quickly installed and removed from the interior space. Specifically, to freshen an interior space, consumers may place an air freshener device with an external configuration that fits within a living space or storage space such as a cupboard, wardrobe, or shoebox, and that can be removed to replace the device when used up. However, in interior spaces with limited surface area for placing a freestanding air freshener, consumers may prefer to attach the air freshener to a mounting fixture located in the interior space. Mounting fixtures may include, but are not limited to, curtain rails, rods in wardrobes, closet louvers / openings, vehicle vents, towel rails and / or hanging supports or wall hooks in bathrooms.
[0003] Japanese Patent Publication No. 6155369(B2) ("JP 6155369(B2)") describes a hook for hanging a container of a medicine volatilizer through a hanging hole of the container. JP 6155369(B2) describes a hook having a retaining member with two inclined surfaces to facilitate insertion of the hook's protruding member into the opening of the container. The hook can be removed with the aid of a tool by inserting a physical part into the gap of the hook to widen the gap so that the hanging hole of the container can be removed from the protruding member. JP 6155369(B2) also proposes an alternative design for a peel-off hook to remove the hook from the diffuser without assistance, but such an alternative design results in a hook that cannot be reused.
[0004] U.S. Patent No. 9,272,062 (B1) describes an air freshener and decorative item combination having a hanging hook formed from one or more polymer resins filled with aromatic oils, the hanging hook serving the dual function of both a hanging hook when the decorative item is in a hanging configuration and a support stand when the decorative item is in an upright display configuration. The decorative item has a receiving hole formed in its upper surface, and the hanging hook is press-fit into the receiving hole. A potential drawback is that the hanging hook can easily come off the decorative item. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]

[Figure 13] FIG. 10 is a front perspective view of the volatile composition dispensing system of FIG. 9. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0009] It has been found that the design of the components constituting the hook plays an important role in facilitating attachment and detachment of the hook to a volatile composition dispenser in order to support the volatile composition on a surface within the interior space and simultaneously provide a reusable hook. Specifically, providing a hook having a body portion having a grip portion and an aperture engagement portion adapted to releasably engage with at least one aperture in the dispenser housing, the body portion being characterized by a first width W1 at the grip portion and a second width W2 at the aperture engagement portion, the ratio of the first width W1 to the second width W2 being greater than 1:1, preferably greater than 1.5:1, results in the hook being easily detached from the at least one aperture.
[0010] The present invention relates to a hook for a volatile composition dispenser, a volatile composition dispensing system, and a method for delivering a volatile composition to an interior space. The hook is suitable for various applications, including, but not limited to, supporting a volatile composition dispenser having a volatile composition, such as a scented air freshener composition, in a liquid, solid, or gel state. The hook may be attached to a volatile composition dispenser housing or container having at least one aperture to form a volatile composition dispensing system. The following description with reference to the drawings is intended to provide non-limiting examples of the present invention. For purposes of this disclosure, but without intending to limit the scope of the present invention, the hook is designed to be releasably attached to a volatile composition dispenser having an irregularly shaped housing, as shown in FIG. 2. However, the hook may also be configured to be attached to a volatile composition dispenser having a regularly shaped housing.
[0011] It is to be understood that embodiments with additional, fewer, or alternative features, as well as other embodiments including different combinations of the illustrated and / or described features, are contemplated.
[0012] Prior to describing the present invention in detail, the following terms are defined for clarity of description. Terms not defined should be given their ordinary meaning as understood by one of ordinary skill in the relevant art.
[0013] As used herein, "elevated position" refers to a position of a volatile composition dispensing system according to the present invention where the volatile composition dispenser is above an interior surface within the interior environment.
[0014] As used herein, "vertical orientation" refers to a position of a volatile composition dispensing system according to the present invention in which the volatile material in the volatile composition dispenser faces the environment in a forward or rearward position.
[0015] As used herein, "membrane" refers to a semipermeable material that allows some components of a substance to pass through while blocking others. For components that pass through the membrane, the membrane regulates the permeability of the components (i.e., allows some components to pass through more quickly than others). Such components can include molecules, ions, or particles.
[0016] As used herein, "microporous membrane" refers to a material that has a network of small pores.
[0017] As used herein, "unenergized" means that the device is passive and does not need to be powered by an external energy source. Specifically, the device does not need to be powered by a heat, gas, or current source, and the volatile composition is not delivered by aerosol means. Furthermore, as used in this specification and the appended claims, the singular forms "a," "an," and "the" include plural references unless the content clearly dictates otherwise.
[0018] As used herein, "volatile material" or "volatile composition" refers to a composition or material that can be vaporized at room temperature and atmospheric pressure without the need for an energy source. The volatile material can be a composition that includes a single volatile material or a mixture of volatile materials (i.e., the mixture has two or more volatile components). Furthermore, not all of the component materials of the composition need be volatile. Any suitable volatile material in any amount or form can be used, including liquids, solids, gels, or emulsions. Materials suitable for use herein may also include non-volatile compounds, such as carrier materials (e.g., water, solvents, etc.). When a volatile material is described herein as being "dispensed," "volatilized," or "emitted," this refers to the volatilization of the volatile components of the volatile material; it should also be understood that the non-volatile components of the volatile material need not be vaporized. For purposes of describing the present invention in detail, the present invention is described below as a hook for a non-energized volatile composition dispenser having an irregular shape. However, the hook may also be configured for use with a volatile composition dispenser having a regular shape.
[0019] Figure 1 is a front perspective view of a hook 10 for a volatile composition dispenser 1 according to the present invention. Figure 2 is a rear perspective view of the volatile composition dispenser 1.
[0020] 1 , the hook 10 has a width, height, and depth along the x-axis, y-axis, and z-axis, respectively. The hook 10 has a top end 12, a bottom end 14, and a mounting portion 16 at the top end 12 for attaching the volatile composition dispenser 1 to a support within the interior space. The hook 10 has a body portion 18 extending from the mounting portion 16 to the bottom end 14. The body portion 18 has a grip portion 20 and an aperture engagement portion 22 adapted to releasably engage at least one aperture 4 in the housing 2 of the dispenser 1.
[0021] Referring to FIG. 2 , the housing 2 may include a front cover 5 and a rear frame 6, and the at least one aperture 4 may be located in the center of the rear frame 6. The rear frame 6 includes a rear frame exterior surface 7. The at least one aperture 4 includes an aperture inner wall extending from the rear frame exterior surface 7 into the interior of the housing. The at least one aperture 4 may include a first aperture end 41 proximal to the housing top 3 and a second aperture end 42 distal to the housing top 4. The at least one aperture 4 may be one of a plurality of apertures 60 in the rear frame 6 proximal to the housing top 3. The plurality of apertures 60 are configured such that, when the dispenser 1 is actuated, air passes through the housing 2 and exits the aperture 60 to dispense a volatile material from the volatile composition dispenser 1. Having a hook 10 designed to attach to at least one aperture 4, which is one of the apertures 60 configured for air flow, means that at least the aperture 4 serves the dual function of receiving and attaching the hook 10 when the volatile composition dispenser 1 is in a hanging configuration as shown in Figure 9, and also serving as an air flow opening / vent for convective movement of air flow through the housing 2 when the volatile composition dispenser 1 is in an upright configuration as shown in Figure 2.
[0022] FIG. 3 is a front view of hook 10, illustrating the shape of hook 10 and the geometry of body portion 18. FIG. 4 is a side view of hook 10 of FIG. 3. Hook 10 may have a different shape. However, a preferred shape is one that is similar to the shape of at least one aperture 4 in housing 2. The technical effect of having the shape of hook 10 correspond to the shape of at least one aperture 4 is to provide a visual association for identifying hook 10 with features of housing 2 with which hook 10 is designed to be used. Specifically, the aspect ratio of hook 10 may be similar to or substantially the same as the aspect ratio of at least one aperture 4.
[0023] As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the hook 10 has a length L0 between the top end 12 and the bottom end 14 along the y-axis, a width W0 along the x-axis, and a depth D0 along the z-axis, where the length L0, width W0, and depth D0 define the volume of space occupied by the hook 10 within a package. The width W0, length L0, and depth D0 may be configured such that the hook 10 is considered compact and / or portable. "Compact" or "portable" means that the hook 10 can be conveniently packaged within a package together with the volatile composition dispenser 1 for display and sale in a store. Referring to Figure 4, the hook 10 further has a central longitudinal axis Yc extending along the length L0 of the hook 10 between the top end 12 and the bottom end 14 of the hook 10, and a plane 161 that includes the central longitudinal axis Yc.
[0024] Hook 10 may have an aspect ratio that indicates the ratio of width W0 to length L0 of hook 10. Hook 10 may have an aspect ratio W0:L0 of at least about 1:2. In other embodiments, this aspect ratio may be at least about 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, or even 1:6. Hook 10 may have a length L0 of 40 mm to 100 mm, 50 mm to 90 mm, 60 mm to 80 mm, or any combination of numbers within the ranges recited above. Hook 10 may have a width W0 of 20 mm to 50 mm, 25 mm to 45 mm, or any combination of numbers within the ranges recited above. Hook 10 may have a depth D0 of 3 mm to 20 mm, 5 mm to 17 mm, 10 mm to 15 mm, or any combination of numbers within the ranges recited above. In an exemplary embodiment, the hook 10 may have a length L0 of 70 mm, a width W0 of 40 mm, and a depth D0 of 13 mm.
[0025] 3, mounting portion 16 of hook 10 may be configured in various ways to be mounted or attached to a support. Mounting portion 16 may include an interior surface 17 having a center point 19, with interior surface 17 being shaped and sized based on the corresponding size and shape of the cross-section of the support on which hook 10 will be supported or mounted. For example, if the support has a circular cross-section (such as support 110 in FIG. 9), interior surface 17 may be rounded to form a smooth curve with hook radius R relative to center point 19 for mounting to the support.
[0026] Further, the body portion 18 is characterized by a first width W1 at the gripping portion 20 and a second width W2 at the aperture-engaging portion 22, the ratio of the first width W1 to the second width W2 being greater than 1.5:1. The first width W1 of the body portion 18 may be determined at any position along the X-axis of the hook 10 between a first adjacent portion or junction of the gripping portion 20 and the mounting portion 16 and a second adjacent portion or junction of the gripping portion 20 and the aperture-engaging portion 22, as shown in FIG. 3 . The second width W2 of the body portion 18 may be determined at any position between the second adjacent portion or junction of the gripping portion 20 and the aperture-engaging portion 22 relative to the lower end 14 of the hook 10. The ratio of the first width W1 to the second width W2 is 1.1 to 4:1, preferably 1.2:1 to 3.5:1, and more preferably 1.5:1 to 3:1. The body portion 18 may be characterized by a first width W1 at the gripping portion 20 of 16 mm to 40 mm, 20 mm to 35 mm, or any combination of numerical values within the ranges recited above. The second width W2 at the aperture-engaging portion 22 may be 8 mm to 15 mm, 10 mm to 14 mm, or any combination of numerical values within the ranges recited above. The technical effect of the hook 10 having a ratio of the first width W1 to the second width W2 (at the aperture-engaging portion 22) greater than 1.5:1 is to provide a larger contact area for gripping, thereby facilitating the application of pressure or force to the hook 10 to release it from the volatile composition dispenser 1. The body portion 18 may further comprise a third width W3 at the distal end 23 of the aperture-engaging portion 22. Body portion 18 may have a non-uniform width to define a tapered shape, such that second width W2 is less than first width W1 and third width W3 is less than second width W2. Specifically, third width W3 may correspond to the width of aperture-engaging portion 22 at bottom end 14.
[0027] Referring to FIG. 3 , aperture-engaging portion 22 may have a length LA along the y-axis of 5 mm to 30 mm, 10 mm to 25 mm, 15 mm to 20 mm, or any different combination of values within the ranges listed above. Hook 10 may be characterized by a ratio of the length of hook 10 to the length of aperture-engaging portion 22 (LO:LA) of 1 or greater. A technical advantage of the body portion geometry having an LO:LA ratio is that when the hook is removed by the user from the dispenser aperture, there is a lever effect that provides a user with a grip at the gripping portion having a first width W1, while the width of the body portion at the aperture-engaging portion has a smaller width W2. Because there is a mechanical advantage, allowing the user to release the hook using less force, this minimizes accidental damage to the hook and allows for reuse of the hook after its initial use with the first volatile composition dispenser.
[0028] The aperture engaging portion 22 may have a shape that is substantially the same as the shape of the at least one aperture 4. A technical effect of having substantially the same shape for the aperture engaging portion 22 and the at least one aperture 4 is that a visual cue is provided to a user indicating where to attach the hook 10 to the housing 2 with minimal or no instructions. The aperture engaging portion 22 may also be characterized by dimensions configured to allow for releasable engagement of the aperture engaging portion 22 with the at least one aperture 4.
[0029] The aperture-engaging portion 22 may include a protrusion 221 configured to form an interference or friction fit with the at least one aperture 4. In an exemplary embodiment, when the at least one aperture 4 and the aperture-engaging portion 22 have an axisymmetric profile (as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2), the protrusion 221 may include at least one resilient sidewall 222 configured as a ring-shaped structure defining an annular snap joint for releasably engaging the at least one aperture 4 in the housing 2 of the dispenser 1. The hook 10 may be made of a thermoplastic material characterized by a modulus of elasticity of 0.9 to 1.1 GPa, and preferably, the material may include polyester, polypropylene, and the like. The aperture-engaging portion 22 may be made of the same material as the hook 10, or may be made of two different thermoplastic materials, i.e., a first thermoplastic material and a second thermoplastic material having different hardness durometer characteristics than the first thermoplastic material. Although injection molded construction of hook 10 using the same thermoplastic material is preferred, hook 10 may also comprise a suitable deformable thermoplastic material, such as a second thermoplastic material, such as TPE. In particular, aperture engaging portion 22 may comprise TPE formed into a thin layer and attached to at least one resilient side wall 222 by a suitable adhesive or other means to enable releasable engagement with at least one aperture 4.
[0030] 4, body portion 18 may further include a housing engagement portion 24 disposed between grip portion 20 and aperture engagement portion 22. The technical effect of hook 10 having housing engagement portion 24 is that hook 10 and housing 2 contact a portion of housing 2 such that hook 10 and housing 2 form a single object with a center of gravity CG that lies in a vertical plane aligned with a support point on mounting portion 16 of hook 10, as shown in FIG. 9 described below.
[0031] Referring to FIG. 4 , the housing engagement portion 24 may include an engagement surface 241 configured to contact at least a portion of the exterior of the housing 2 and a back surface 242, where the engagement surface 241 and the back surface 242 define a thickness of the housing engagement portion 24. The housing engagement surface 241 may be configured in various manners depending on the shape of the housing 2. In particular, the engagement surface 241 and the back surface 242 of the housing engagement portion 24 may be formed on the same curve as the rear frame 6 of the housing 2. Specifically, the engagement surface 241 may have a curved contour corresponding to the curved shape of the rear frame 6. When the housing 2 has an irregular or asymmetric shape as shown in FIG. 2 , the hook 10 may be configured such that the grip portion 20 and the housing engagement portion 24 can lie in a plane 25 inclined relative to the mounting portion 16 or plane 161 to define an inclined portion of the body portion 18 as shown in FIG. 4 . In particular, the mounting portion 16 lies in a plane 161 that includes the central longitudinal axis. Referring to FIG. 4, the slope may be characterized by an angle (θ) between 10° and 90°, preferably between 20° and 80°, and more preferably between 25° and 75°.
[0032] However, if the housing 2 is a regular body mass having a regular shape, such as a rectangular parallelepiped with a planar exterior, the engagement surface 241 may lie in a plane parallel to the planar exterior of the housing.
[0033] 5 is a partial perspective view of a different design of hook 50 having an aperture-engaging portion 52 in accordance with the present invention. Hook 50 has substantially the same features as hook 10 of FIG. 1, differing in the design of aperture-engaging portion 52 as described below.
[0034] Specifically, aperture-engaging portion 52 may include a base and at least one resilient sidewall extending from the base, defining a resilient annular member 56 and a hollow center 57. A plurality of protrusions 54 are circumferentially disposed on resilient annular member 56 to define a plurality of snap-fits for engaging at least one aperture in a housing. At least two of protrusions 54 may each extend outward from opposite sides of resilient annular member 56. Each protrusion 54 may include a protrusion-engaging surface, such as a chamfer 58, configured to engage the periphery of at least one aperture to resist free movement of hook 10 when attached to the housing. A technical effect of having chamfers 58 on circumferentially disposed protrusions 54 on resilient annular member 56 is that it facilitates insertion of aperture-engaging portion 52 into at least one aperture 64, as shown in FIG. 6 .
[0035] FIG. 6 is a partial cross-sectional view of a hook 50 attached to a volatile composition dispenser having a housing with at least one aperture 60. The at least one aperture 60 has a periphery defined by a resilient aperture sidewall 62. Referring to FIG. 6, the ratio of the width W4 between the tips T of the projections 54 of the aperture engagement portion 52 extending from one side to the other in the X direction to the width W5 in the X direction of the opposing engagement locations 64, 66 on the resilient aperture sidewall 62, W4:W5, may be greater than 1. The technical effect of having a ratio greater than 1 is to ensure that the aperture engagement portion 52 securely engages with the at least one aperture 60 of the housing and is not easily removed from the housing in the absence of a force applied to the main body portion of the hook. The chamfer 58 may be characterized by a lead angle of 30 to 45 degrees and a corresponding return angle α to facilitate assembly / disassembly of the aperture engagement portion 52.
[0036] FIG. 7 is a front perspective view of a different design of a hook 70 according to the present invention. The hook 70 has substantially the same features as the hook 10 of FIG. 1 in that the hook 70 comprises a mounting portion 16, a gripping portion 20, and an aperture engagement portion 22. The difference between the hook 10 and the hook 70 is that the hook 70 comprises a planar housing engagement surface 72, which differs from the sloped profile of the housing engagement surface 241 of the hook 10 as shown in FIG. 4. The hook 70 also differs from the hook 10 in that the hook 70 includes an aperture engagement portion 74 including a single protrusion 221 configured to releasably engage at least one aperture in a housing of a volatile composition dispenser (not shown). The technical effect of the planar housing engagement surface 72 is to allow a rectangular parallelepiped-shaped housing (not shown) having a planar housing surface to engage with an aperture disposed on the planar housing surface for engaging the protrusion 221. Specifically, the protrusion 221 may be a solid structure having a spherical shape located at the distal end 14 of the hook 70. The size and shape of protrusion 221 may be configured for a housing having a limited exterior surface area to form an aperture, and planar housing engagement surface 72 may be configured to lie in a plane parallel to the planar exterior of the housing. Thus, hook 70 may be configured to engage with the housing to maintain the housing in a substantially vertical and / or upright position.
[0037] The hooks 10, 50, 70 according to the present invention may be made of a thermoplastic material characterized by a modulus of elasticity of 0.9 to 1.1 GPa, and preferably, the material may include polyester, polypropylene, etc. The thermoplastic material may be translucent. The hooks 10, 50, 70 may be made of the same material as the housing 2. The hooks 10, 50, 70 and the housing 2 may also be injection molded from the same material to reduce material stock variations and simplify manufacturing.
[0038] Volatile Material Distribution System To explain how the hook 10 functions in a volatile composition dispensing system according to the present invention, it is useful to understand how the hook 10 is assembled to the housing 2 of the dispenser 1. A method of assembling a hook to a volatile composition dispenser according to the present invention will be described with reference to Figures 8, 9 and 10. Specifically, the present invention provides a method of assembling a hook to a volatile composition dispenser, comprising: Providing a volatile composition dispenser (1) comprising a housing (2) with at least one aperture (4); Providing a hook 10; aligning the hook 10 with at least one aperture 4 of the housing 2; and pressing the hook (10) into the at least one aperture (4) to assemble the hook (10) to the dispenser (1).
[0039] A volatile material (not shown) may be included in the dispenser 1 as shown in the above figures in accordance with the present invention. For illustrative purposes, the volatile material may be described as a liquid volatile composition for air freshening. However, it will be understood that the volatile material may also be a solid or gel composition.
[0040] FIG. 8 shows the components of a volatile composition dispensing system 100 before assembly. Specifically, the volatile composition dispensing system 100 includes a hook 10 and a dispenser 1. FIG. 8 also shows a first step 6A of the method, in which an aperture engagement portion 22 is aligned with at least one aperture 4 of a housing 2. The at least one aperture 4 is one of a plurality of apertures disposed within the housing 2 and is centrally located adjacent to the top of the housing 2 so that the dispenser 1 is maintained in a substantially vertical position when mounted on a mounting fixture within the interior space for evaporating volatile material from the dispenser 1. To easily identify the correct aperture for attaching the hook 10 to the dispenser 1, the shape of the aperture engagement portion 22 may be designed to correspond to the contour of the at least one aperture 4. While the aperture engaging portion 22 described above and in the drawings is oval in shape to generally correspond to the size and shape of at least one aperture 4, it will be understood that the aperture engaging portion 22 may be sized and configured to fit a number of different sizes and types of apertures in the housing to allow for variations in housing designs during manufacture of the volatile composition dispenser 1.
[0041] For example, an aperture 60 in the plurality of apertures 60 may be configured to have a different size and / or shape than at least one aperture 4 to allow a user to attach the hook 10 in the intended location, i.e., at least one aperture 4.
[0042] 9 illustrates a second step 6B of the method by which the hook 10 is attached to the housing 2. Specifically, once the aperture-engaging portion 22 is aligned with and engaged with the at least one aperture 4, the hook 10 is press-fit into the at least one aperture 4 and attached to the housing 2. Because the hook 10 is designed for blind assembly, i.e., the aperture-engaging portion 22 faces away from the user during installation, the aperture-engaging portion 22 may be designed to generate auditory feedback, such as a "click" sound, to indicate to the user that the hook 10 is securely attached.
[0043] 10 shows a third step 6C of the method in which the hook 10 is attached to the housing 2. When the hook 10 is attached to the dispenser 1 to define the volatile material dispensing system 100, the engagement surface 241 contacts the rear frame exterior surface 7 of the rear frame 6 such that a gap between the engagement surface 241 and the rear frame exterior surface 7 is minimized or eliminated. It should be noted that the housing engagement portion 24 is formed in the same plane as the rear frame 6 of the housing 2, such that when the hook 10 is attached to the housing 2 and the volatile composition dispenser 2 tilts to a downward position away from the vertical position due to the weight of the volatile composition dispenser 1, the housing engagement portion 24 contacting the housing 2 acts as a stop to positively limit the downward position.
[0044] The technical effect of minimizing the gap is that the hook 10 and the dispenser 1 form a unitary structure with a center of gravity CG along an imaginary vertical line directly below the support point SP of the suspension of the dispenser 1, as shown in Figure 11. Advantageously, this minimizes pivoting of the dispenser 1 about SP when the hook 10 is supported on a mounting within the interior space. As a result, tilting of the dispenser 1 is minimized, and the dispenser 1 can be maintained in a substantially upright position as shown in Figures 11 and 12.
[0045] The dispenser 1 can be activated by depressing a push button 8 located on the rear frame 6 of the housing 2 to rupture the impermeable foil substrate within the volatile composition cartridge, either before or after attaching the hook 10. The dispenser 1 may also be activated by other means, for example, by peeling back the impermeable foil substrate covering the volatile composition disposed within the housing.
[0046] Methods for delivering volatile compositions Figure 11 is a front perspective view of the volatile composition dispensing system 100 of Figure 8, with the hook 10 mounted on a support 110 within the interior space and suspended above an interior surface within the interior space. The interior surface may be a tabletop surface, a floor surface, or any surface within the interior. Figure 12 is a rear perspective view of the volatile composition dispensing system 100.
[0047] In particular, it will be appreciated that volatile compositions have been provided in volatile composition dispensers, such as air fresheners and / or deodorisers, that are placed on wet surfaces in bathrooms or toilets or sanitary spaces to freshen the air in the space. Often, the bottom surface of the air freshener is in contact with the wet surface, which can result in the bottom surface becoming wet and soiled.
[0048] The present invention relates to a method for delivering a volatile composition to an interior space that allows the surface of a volatile composition dispenser to remain dry, the method comprising: providing a volatile composition dispenser (1) comprising a housing (2) having at least one aperture (4) and a volatile composition disposed within the housing (2); Providing a hook 10; attaching a hook (10) to at least one aperture (4) of the housing (2); and mounting a hook 10 to a support 110 within the interior space for suspending the dispenser 1 above a surface within the interior space for delivering a volatile composition within the interior space.
[0049] The advantage of suspending the dispenser above a surface is that the housing 2 and any surfaces of the housing 2 are elevated relative to surfaces within the interior space and can therefore be kept away from wet surfaces within the interior space and therefore can be kept dry and clean.
[0050] Disassembly method The present invention also relates to a method for disassembling the hook according to the present invention from a volatile composition dispenser after the volatile composition in the dispenser 1 has evaporated and been used up. In particular, the hook 10 can be released from the dispenser 1 so that it can be reused for a new dispenser.
[0051] To facilitate release of the hook 10 from the dispenser 1, the gripping portion 20 of the hook 10 is sized and shaped to be visually detectable by a user from the front or back of the dispenser 1 after the hook 10 is attached to the dispenser 1, as shown in FIG. 13 . By pressing the gripping portion 20, the hook 10 can be released from the dispenser 1 with a one-handed operation, thereby minimizing the inconvenience of using a separate tool to remove the hook 10. The hook 10 may be engaged with new volatile composition dispensers in the same manner as the structural features shown on the hook 10 in FIG. 1 , and therefore, those features will not be further described. The gripping portion 20 may include a finger support 201 having gripping bumps (not shown) located thereon for better gripping. The finger support 201 may include a surface area configured to allow a user to have a grip between their thumb and fingertips to pull or push the hook 10 relative to the dispenser. Alternatively, the gripping portion 20 may be textured to increase friction between the fingers to aid in the release of the hook 10 from the dispenser 1. The hook according to the present invention thus provides consumers with a solution for hanging a volatile composition dispenser, in which the hook is supported on a mounting within the interior space and the dispenser is suspended above an interior surface within the interior space, while having the ability to be releasably removed from the dispenser after the volatile composition has been used up, thereby increasing material reuse and reducing the need to purchase new hooks to hang new volatile composition dispensers.
