AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

In continuous image capture under flickering light sources, obtaining accurate photometric values for exposure tracking is challenging due to the longer intervals between still image captures, which affect exposure control and image quality.

Method used

An imaging device and method that perform exposure control based on photometry results from both recorded and display images, adjusting exposure settings according to the interval between captures and the presence of flicker, using detection means to synchronize with flicker peaks for optimal exposure.

Benefits of technology

Improves exposure tracking and image quality by reducing the effects of flicker during continuous capture, especially when capture intervals are long, by synchronizing exposure control with flicker peaks and using appropriate charge accumulation times.

Abstract

To improve exposure followability when an imaging interval is long in continuous imaging or the like under a flicker environment.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 100 performs display imaging for acquiring a display image between first imaging for acquiring a recording image and a following second imaging. The imaging apparatus includes photometric means 107 for performing photometry using an image and control means 104 for performing exposure control according to the result of the photometry. The control means performs the exposure control in the second imaging when a flicker is included in light made incident on the imaging apparatus, according to the result of the photometry using the recording image acquired by the first imaging, when an interval between the first imaging and the second imaging is shorter than a predetermined time and performs the exposure control in the second imaging when the flicker is included in the light made incident on the imaging apparatus, according to the result of the photometry using the display image, when the interval is longer than the predetermined time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
