[0001] The present disclosure relates to a container for a consumer product, the container comprising a sealed compartment and an access area including an unsealed area. The present disclosure also relates to a method for manufacturing a packaged aerosol-generating article. [Background technology]

A container for a consumer product, said container comprising: a first substrate layer; a second substrate layer covering the first substrate layer, a first portion of the first substrate layer and a first portion of the second substrate layer forming a compartment area, the periphery of the compartment area being completely sealed to form a sealed compartment for containing one or more consumer goods; a second portion of the first substrate layer and a second portion of the second substrate layer form an access area immediately adjacent the compartment area, the access area including an unsealed area, a periphery of the access area extending around the unsealed area, the first substrate layer attached to the second substrate layer at the periphery of the access area, and the unsealed area separated from the sealed compartment by the completely sealed periphery of the compartment area; the container further comprises a line of weakness extending at least partially into the non-sealed region of the access area, the line of weakness being a first line of weakness in only the first substrate layer, the container further comprises a second line of weakness in only the second substrate layer, the second line of weakness having a different shape than the first line of weakness, the difference in shape between the first line of weakness and the second line of weakness defining a closure tab in the second substrate layer in the non-sealed region of the access area, and the difference in shape between the first line of weakness and the second line of weakness is such that a portion of the first substrate layer is tucked under the closure tab to hold the first substrate layer in a closed position.

2. The container of claim 1 , wherein the line of weakness extends between a first edge of the container and a second edge of the container.

3. 3. The container of claim 1, wherein the perimeter of the access area includes at least one unsealed portion, and the line of weakness extends across the at least one unsealed portion.

The container of claim 3, wherein the at least one non-sealing portion includes a first non-sealing portion and a second non-sealing portion, a first end of the line of weakness extending across the first non-sealing portion, and a second end of the line of weakness extending across the second non-sealing portion.

5. The container according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the line of weakness is linear.

6. The container according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein at least a portion of the line of weakness is curved.

7. The container according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the second line of weakness at least partially covers the first line of weakness.

8. 8. The container of claim 1, wherein the first portion of at least one of the first substrate layer and the second substrate layer includes a recess, the recess at least partially defining the sealed compartment for containing one or more consumer goods.

9. 9. The container of claim 1, wherein each of the first substrate layer and the second substrate layer comprises a laminate material, the laminate material comprising at least one paper layer and at least one polymeric film layer.

10. 1. A packaged aerosol-generating article comprising: A container according to any one of claims 1 to 9; an aerosol-generating article sealed within the sealed compartment.

11. 1. A method of forming a packaged aerosol-generating article, said method comprising: providing a web of a first substrate material; positioning an aerosol-generating article on the web of first substrate material; providing a web of a second substrate material; positioning the web of second substrate material over the aerosol-generating article and the web of first substrate material; securing a first portion of the web of the first substrate material to a first portion of the web of the second substrate material to form a compartment area, the periphery of the compartment area being completely sealed to form a sealed compartment, the aerosol-generating article being contained within the sealed compartment; securing a second portion of the web of the first substrate material to a second portion of the web of the second substrate material to form an access area immediately adjacent the compartment area, the access area including an unsealed area, a periphery of the access area extending around the unsealed area, the web of the first substrate material attached to the web of the second substrate material at the periphery of the access area, and the unsealed area separated from the sealed compartment area by the completely sealed periphery of the compartment area; forming a line of weakness extending at least partially within the unsealed region of the access area, the line of weakness comprising a first line of weakness in only the first web of substrate material and a second line of weakness in only the second web of substrate material, the second line of weakness having a different shape than the first line of weakness, the difference in shape between the first line of weakness and the second line of weakness defining a closure tab in the web of second substrate material in the unsealed region of the access area, the difference in shape between the first line of weakness and the second line of weakness being such that a portion of the web of first substrate material is tucked under the closure tab to hold the web of first substrate material in a closed position; and cutting the web of the first substrate material and the web of the second substrate material to form a packaged aerosol-generating article, the packaged aerosol-generating article comprising an aerosol-generating article, a first substrate layer formed from the web of the first substrate material, a second substrate layer formed from the web of the second substrate material, the compartment region, the access region, the first line of weakness, and the second line of weakness.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first substrate layer and the second substrate layer each comprise a laminate material, the laminate material comprising at least one layer of paper and at least one layer of polymeric film.
