Abstract

A fifth generation (5G) standard cellular base station unit includes at least one user equipment (UE) modem operative to receive radio signals from at least one external base station and to derive at least one synchronization signal based on the radio signals received from the at least one external base station, and a 5G base station subunit operative to receive the at least one synchronization signal from the at least one UE modem and to synchronize internal functions of the 5G base station subunit using the at least one synchronization signal.
