Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to an electrical connection box.

Background Art

[0002] Conventionally, an electrical connection box is installed inside a vehicle to house various electrical devices such as a relay box and a fuse link box used in an automotive electrical circuit, and also as a connection and branching point for wirings such as a wire harness.

[0003] FIG. 8 shows an exploded perspective view of a main part of a conventional electrical connection box 100. The electrical connection box 100 includes a cylindrical (box-shaped) case body 110 provided with a plurality of connector fitting portions inside, a lower cover 120 covering the lower opening of the case body 110, and an upper cover (not shown) covering the upper opening of the case body 110.

[0004] At the lower end of a peripheral wall 110a which is a part of the outer peripheral surface of the case body 110, a gutter-shaped wire lead-out wall 111 is provided. The wire lead-out wall 111 includes a clamp connection portion 113 having an anchor fixing hole 117 into which an anchor portion 134 of a band clamp 130 is inserted, and a semi-cylindrical tape winding portion 115 extending from the tip of the clamp connection portion 113.

[0005] Therefore, after tightening and fixing a wire bundle (a plurality of wires) 102 extending from the connector fitting portion of the case body 110 with a band clamp 130, the anchor portion 134 is attached to the anchor fixing hole 117. The wire bundle 102 tightened and fixed with the band clamp 130 is held in a state of being inserted along the inner surface of the wire lead-out wall 111.

[0006] The lower cover 120 is provided with a plate-shaped wire support wall 121 facing the lower side of the wire lead-out wall 111. The entire wire lead-out portion (wire lead-out cylindrical portion) is constituted by the wire lead-out wall 111 and the wire support wall 121. When the lower cover 120 is attached to the case body 110, the wire bundle 102 is led out to the outside from the wire lead-out portion.

Prior Art Documents

[0007] [Patent Document 1] Japanese Patent Publication No. 2007-37331 [Overview of the project] [Problems that the invention aims to solve]

[0008] However, in conventional electrical junction boxes, the wire outlet section used a general-purpose band clamp 130, which has an anchor portion 134 integrally formed on the head of the cable tie, to fix the wire bundle 102 to the inner surface of the wire outlet wall 111. This resulted in the problem of the wire outlet section being large.

[0009] Furthermore, since the band clamp 130 itself does not have a waterproof function, it is necessary to wrap tape around the exit point of the wire bundle 102 along with the tape wrapping section 115 and the wire support wall 121 to waterproof it, which results in a complicated tape wrapping process.

[0010] The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and its purpose is to provide an electrical connection box equipped with a wire outlet cylinder that eliminates the need for complicated tape wrapping work and allows for compact wire bundle routing. [Means for solving the problem]

[0011] The above objective according to the present invention is achieved by the following configuration. The device comprises a case body, a lower cover covering the lower opening of the case body, and, between the assembled case body and the lower cover, a body-side half-cylinder portion and a lower cover-side half-cylinder portion, respectively, formed in a halved manner on the case body and the lower cover to define a wire outlet cylinder portion for leading out the wire bundle drawn from the case body, and an annular clamp member fitted into the wire outlet cylinder portion. The annular clamp member is characterized by having a first and second semi-annular portion formed in a split shape to hold the wire bundle in an inserted state, sealing members provided on the inner surfaces of the first and second semi-annular portions respectively to elastically adhere to and seal the outer circumference of the wire bundle, and an anchor portion protruding from the outer surface of the first semi-annular portion to be fitted into an anchor fixing hole formed in the semi-cylindrical portion of the main body, thereby providing an electrical connection box. [Effects of the Invention]

[0012] According to the electrical junction box of the present invention, complicated procedures are eliminated, and an external power supply can be easily obtained.

[0013] The present invention has been briefly described above. Furthermore, the details of the present invention will be further clarified by referring to the attached drawings and reading through the embodiments for carrying out the invention described below (hereinafter referred to as "embodiments"). Embodiments for Carrying Out the Invention

[0015] Hereinafter, embodiments according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the main part showing a state in which a wire bundle 2 is led out from a wire lead-out cylinder portion 3 of an electrical connection box 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the electrical connection box 1 shown in FIG. 1. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the electrical connection box 1 according to the present embodiment is composed of a case body 10, a lower cover 20 covering the lower opening of the case body 10, an upper cover (not shown) covering the upper opening of the case body 10, and the like.

[0016] The case body 10 is formed as an integrally molded product of insulating resin. The case body 10 is provided with a plurality of connector fitting portions (not shown) inside, and is formed in a cylindrical (box-shaped) shape having an upper opening and a lower opening. The lower cover 20 is formed as an integrally molded product of insulating resin. At the upper end edge of the peripheral wall 22 of the lower cover 20, when assembled to the lower end edge of the peripheral wall 12 of the case body 10, a fitting wall 23 that fits inside the peripheral wall 12 of the case body 10 and a contact wall 24 that regulates the fitting depth are provided.

[0017] Between the assembled case body 10 and the lower cover 20, a cylindrical wire lead-out cylinder portion 3 for leading out a wire bundle 2 composed of a plurality of wires drawn out from the inside of the case body 10 projects outward from the case. In the present embodiment, the wire lead-out cylinder portion 3 projects horizontally from the case body 10, but it can also project obliquely downward from the case body 10.

[0018] The wire lead-out cylinder portion 3 is defined by a main body side semi-cylinder portion 11 formed in a half-cut shape on a part of the lower end of the peripheral wall 12 of the case main body 10 and a lower cover side semi-cylinder portion 21 formed in a half-cut shape on a part of the upper end of the peripheral wall 22 of the lower cover 20. That is, when the case main body 10 and the lower cover 20 are assembled, the semi-cylindrical main body side semi-cylinder portion 11 and the semi-cylindrical lower cover side semi-cylinder portion 21 define the cylindrical wire lead-out cylinder portion 3.

[0019] The abutting surface 11a of the main body side semi-cylinder portion 11 with the lower cover side semi-cylinder portion 21 is continuous with the lower end surface 12a of the peripheral wall 12 in the case main body 10, and the abutting surface 21a of the lower cover side semi-cylinder portion 21 with the main body side semi-cylinder portion 11 is continuous with the upper surface 24a of the abutting wall 24 in the lower cover 20. Therefore, when the case main body 10 and the lower cover 20 are assembled, the abutting surface 11a of the main body side semi-cylinder portion 11 and the abutting surface 21a of the lower cover side semi-cylinder portion 21 can be in close contact with each other without a gap, and the wire lead-out cylinder portion 3 can be defined in a good cylindrical shape.

[0020] An anchor fixing hole 13, which is an oval opening extending in the axial direction of the wire lead-out cylinder portion 3, is drilled vertically through the convex side top of the main body side semi-cylinder portion 11. On the inner peripheral surface of the main body side semi-cylinder portion 11, a protrusion 15 extending along the circumferential direction of the wire bundle 2 is provided. On the inner peripheral surface of the lower cover side semi-cylinder portion 21, a protrusion 25 extending along the circumferential direction of the wire bundle 2 is provided. The protrusions 15 and 25 are arranged so as to be located on the same plane perpendicular to the axial direction of the wire lead-out cylinder portion 3.

[0021] FIG. 3 is a perspective view showing a state before the first half-ring portion 31 and the second half-ring portion 35 of the annular clamp member 30 shown in FIG. 2 hold the wire bundle 2. FIG. 4 is a perspective view showing a state in which the first half-ring portion 31 and the second half-ring portion 35 shown in FIG. 3 hold the wire bundle.

[0022] As shown in Figure 3, the annular clamp member 30 fitted into the wire outlet cylinder 3 has a semi-annular first semi-ring portion 31 and a second semi-ring portion 35, which are formed in a halved shape to hold the wire bundle 2 in an inserted state. The first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35, which are made of insulating resin, are integrally molded via a thin-walled hinge 34. In this embodiment, the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35 are not semi-annular portions formed in a halved shape in approximately the same proportion, but rather semi-annular portions formed in a halved shape in approximately a 2:1 ratio.

[0023] A semicircular sealing member 51 is provided on the inner circumferential surface of the first semicircular portion 31, and a semicircular sealing member 55 is provided on the inner circumferential surface of the second semicircular portion 35. The sealing members 51 and 55 are made of an elastic material such as sponge, urethane, or butyl. These sealing members 51 and 55 elastically adhere to the outer circumference of the wire bundle 2, thereby sealing the space between the inner circumferential surface of the annular clamp member 30 and the wire bundle 2.

[0024] The semicircular recesses 53 and 57 formed on the opposing surfaces of the sealing member 51 and sealing member 55 are set such that the diameter of the circular opening defined by these recesses 53 and 57 is smaller than the diameter of the wire bundle 2 led out from the wire outlet cylinder 3. Therefore, even if the diameter of the wire bundle 2 increases, the sealing members 51 and 55, which are made of elastic material, can maintain their sealing performance and can accommodate wire bundles 2 of different diameters.

[0025] The outer circumferential surface of the first semi-ring portion 31 is provided with a fitting groove 32 that extends in the circumferential direction of the wire bundle 2 in order to fit into a protrusion 25 provided on the inner circumferential surface of the lower cover side semi-cylindrical portion 21. The outer circumferential surface of the second semi-ring portion 35 is provided with a fitting groove 36 that extends in the circumferential direction of the wire bundle 2 in order to fit into the protrusion 15 provided on the inner circumferential surface of the lower cover side semi-cylindrical portion 21.

[0026] Furthermore, an anchor portion 38 having an oval cross-section extending in the axial direction of the annular clamp member 30 is provided protruding from the convex top of the outer circumferential surface of the second semi-ring portion 35. Locking projections 39 are provided on both sides of the anchor portion 38. In addition, a band insertion portion 40 for inserting the band portion 61 of the cable tie 60 is formed at the lower part of the anchor portion 38 (see Figure 4).

[0027] The anchor portion 38 is fitted into the anchor fixing hole 13 of the main body side semi-cylindrical portion 11, so that the locking projection 39 is locked to the upper edge of the opening of the anchor fixing hole 13, preventing it from coming loose, and the annular clamp member 30 can be fixed to the inner surface of the main body side semi-cylindrical portion 11 (see Figure 6).

[0028] Figure 4 is a perspective view showing the state in which the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35, shown in Figure 3, are holding the wire bundle 2. Figure 5 is a rear view showing the state in which the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35, through which the wire bundle 2 is inserted, are held in a ring shape by the cable tie 60.

[0029] The wire bundle 2, pulled out from the case body 10, is placed in the recess 53 of the sealing member 51, and then the second semi-ring portion 35 rotates around the thin hinge 34, so that it is held in place by the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35, as shown in Figure 4.

[0030] Then, after inserting the band portion 61 of the cable tie 60 into the band insertion portion 40, the tip of the band portion 61 wound around the wire bundle 2 is inserted into the locking hole 65 of the head portion 63 and tightened, thereby fixing the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35 so that they do not open, as shown in Figure 5. At this time, the cable tie 60 is prevented from shifting axially relative to the annular clamp member 30 by housing the band portion 61 within the slip-prevention groove 33. Therefore, the space between the wire bundle 2 held by the annular clamp member 30 and the inner circumferential surface of the annular clamp member 30 is sealed by the sealing member 51 and the sealing member 55.

[0031] Figure 6 is a perspective view showing the state in which the annular clamp member 30 holding the wire bundle 2 is fixed to the inner surface of the main body side semi-cylindrical portion 11. Figure 7 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view showing the state in which the wire bundle 2 is led out from the wire outlet cylindrical portion 3 of the electrical connection box 1.

[0032] As shown in Figure 6, the annular clamp member 30 holding the wire bundle 2 is fixed to the inner surface of the main body side semi-cylindrical portion 11 by inserting the anchor portion 38 into the anchor fixing hole 13 of the main body side semi-cylindrical portion 11.

[0033] When the lower cover 20 is assembled to the case body 10, the lower end surface 12a of the peripheral wall 12 on the case body 10 abuts against the upper surface 24a of the abutment wall 24 on the lower cover 20. At the same time, the abutment surface 11a of the main body side semi-cylindrical portion 11 and the abutment surface 21a of the lower cover side semi-cylindrical portion 21 come into close contact with each other without any gaps, defining a cylindrical wire outlet tube portion 3. The annular clamp member 30 holding the wire bundle 2 is then fitted inside the wire outlet tube portion 3.

[0034] At this time, the protrusions 15 and 25 provided on the inner circumferential surface of the wire outlet cylinder 3 fit into the fitting grooves 32 and 36 formed on the outer circumferential surface of the annular clamp member 30, thereby forming a labyrinth seal between the outer circumferential surface of the annular clamp member 30 and the inner circumferential surface of the wire outlet cylinder 3. This prevents water from entering between the inner circumferential surface of the wire outlet cylinder 3 and the annular clamp member 30.

[0035] Next, I will explain the function of the above-described configuration. In the electrical connection box 1 according to this embodiment, the wire bundle 2 pulled out from the case body 10 is held by the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35 that constitute the annular clamp member 30, as shown in Figure 4. Then, the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35 are secured by the cable tie 60 so that they do not open, as shown in Figure 5. At this time, the space between the wire bundle 2 held by the annular clamp member 30 and the inner surface of the annular clamp member 30 is sealed by the sealing members 51 and 55 provided on the inner surfaces of the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35, respectively.

[0036] The annular clamp member 30, which holds the wire bundle 2, is fixed to the inner surface of the main body-side semi-cylindrical portion 11 by an anchor portion 38 protruding from the outer surface of the second semi-annular portion 35. Then, when the lower cover 20 is assembled to the case body 10, the annular clamp member 30 holding the wire bundle 2 is fitted into the wire outlet cylindrical portion 3.

[0037] Therefore, in the electrical connection box 1 according to this embodiment, the annular clamp member 30, which is composed of a first semi-ring portion 31 and a second semi-ring portion 35 formed in a half-split shape to hold the wire bundle 2 in an inserted state, can fix the wire bundle 2 to the inner surface of the main body side semi-cylindrical portion 11 without using a general-purpose band clamp 130 (see Figure 8), and the wire outlet cylindrical portion 3 can compactly lead out the wire bundle 2.

[0038] Furthermore, the space between the wire bundle 2 held by the annular clamp member 30 and the inner surface of the annular clamp member 30 is sealed by the sealing members 51 and 55. Therefore, there is no need to wrap tape around the exit point of the wire bundle 2 for waterproofing, eliminating the need for cumbersome tape wrapping work.

[0039] Furthermore, in the electrical connection box 1 according to this embodiment, the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35 are integrally molded via a thin-walled hinge 34. This makes it easier to hold the wire bundle 2 in the inserted state with the annular clamp member 30.

[0040] Furthermore, in the electrical connection box 1 according to this embodiment, the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35 of the annular clamp member 30 through which the wire bundle 2 is inserted are held in an annular shape by a cable tie 60. Therefore, the wire bundle 2 can be held simply and easily by the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35.

[0041] Furthermore, in the electrical connection box 1 according to this embodiment, the outer circumferential surfaces of the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35 are provided with slip-prevention grooves 33 and 37, respectively, to prevent the cable tie 60 from slipping. Therefore, the cable tie 60 can reliably hold the first semi-ring portion 31 and the second semi-ring portion 35 of the annular clamp member 30 through which the wire bundle 2 is inserted.

[0042] Furthermore, in the electrical connection box 1 according to this embodiment, the inner circumferential surface of the main body-side semi-cylindrical portion 11 and the inner circumferential surface of the lower cover-side semi-cylindrical portion 21 are provided with protrusions 15 and 25 that extend in the circumferential direction of the wire bundle 2. In addition, the outer circumferential surface of the first semi-ring portion 31 and the outer circumferential surface of the second semi-ring portion 35 are provided with fitting grooves 32 and 36 that extend in the circumferential direction of the wire bundle 2 in order to fit into the protrusions 15 and 25, respectively. Therefore, a labyrinth seal is formed between the outer circumferential surface of the annular clamp member 30 and the inner circumferential surface of the wire outlet cylinder portion 3. This prevents water from entering between the inner circumferential surface of the wire outlet cylinder portion 3 and the annular clamp member 30.

[0043] Therefore, according to the electrical connection box 1 of this embodiment, the complicated tape wrapping work in the wire outlet cylinder 3 is eliminated, and the wire bundle 2 can be led out compactly.
