Abstract

A welding apparatus (1) used for welding a workpiece (W) comprises a rotating mechanism (4), a first electrode (1E), a second electrode (2E), and a support member (5). The rotating mechanism (4) rotates the first member (41) and the second member (42) in directions perpendicular to the predetermined direction, in opposite directions and at the same speed, by rotational power input to a rotating shaft (4R) extending along a predetermined direction. The first electrode (1E) extends in a predetermined direction along the rotating shaft (4R) of the rotating mechanism (4), is fixed to the first member (41), and can freely contact the surface (W1) of the workpiece (W). The second electrode (2E) extends in the above predetermined direction, is fixed to the second member (42), and can freely contact the surface (W1) of the workpiece (W). The support member (5) is able to abut against the back surface (W2) of the workpiece (W) at at least one point on the perpendicular bisector (P) of the line segment (S) connecting the first electrode (1E) and the second electrode (2E) when viewed from a predetermined direction.
