Description

Radiation imaging system, imaging method and program for radiation imaging system

[0001] The present invention relates to a radiation imaging system, an imaging method for a radiation imaging system, and a program.

[0002] Conventionally, radiographic imaging systems have been used, each equipped with a radiation irradiator that generates radiation and a radiation imaging device that receives radiation and generates radiation image data. Radiographic imaging includes a video imaging technique in which a subject is continuously imaged at regular intervals to obtain multiple frame images. Video imaging is divided into two types: "dynamic" imaging, which requires synchronization between the timing of radiation exposure and the timing of radiographic image generation, and "fluoroscopic" imaging, which requires synchronization only between the start and end of imaging. For this reason, the radiographic imaging system disclosed in Patent Document 1 performs synchronization processing to synchronize the timing of image generation by the radiation imaging device with the irradiation by the irradiation device. Furthermore, this radiographic imaging system initiates synchronization processing at predetermined times. The synchronization processing is initiated when the radiation irradiator and the radiation imaging device are connected via a wired connection, when reconnecting after a communication disconnection, when a user issues an execution command, and when a reset process is executed.

[0003] JP 2023-5 A

[0004] However, in conventional radiation imaging systems, there is a risk that synchronization processing will not be performed properly, causing problems with imaging when necessary.

[0005] An object of the present invention is to provide a radiation imaging system, an imaging method for a radiation imaging system, and a program for appropriately performing synchronization processing on an imaging device relative to a radiation irradiation device.

[0006] In order to solve the above problem, the radiation imaging system of the present invention comprises a radiation imaging device that performs video imaging in synchronization with a radiation irradiation device, and a synchronization processing unit that executes synchronization processing for achieving the synchronization, and the synchronization processing unit starts the synchronization processing when the power of the radiation imaging device is turned on.

[0007] Furthermore, the imaging method for a radiation imaging system of the present invention is an imaging method for a radiation imaging system that includes a radiation image capturing device that captures moving images in synchronization with a radiation irradiation device, and a synchronization processing unit that executes synchronization processing for achieving the synchronization, and the synchronization processing unit starts the synchronization processing when the power of the radiation image capturing device is turned on.

[0008] The program of the present invention causes a computer of a radiation imaging system including a radiation imaging device that captures moving images in synchronization with a radiation irradiation device and a synchronization processing unit that executes synchronization processing for achieving the synchronization to realize a function of starting the synchronization processing when the power of the radiation imaging device is turned on.

[0009] According to the present invention, it is possible to perform synchronization processing of an imaging device with a radiation irradiation device when appropriate.

[0011] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS The present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, but the present invention is not limited to the illustrated examples.

[0012] [First embodiment] The device configuration of a radiation imaging system according to the first embodiment will be described with reference to Figures 1 and 2. Figure 1 is a schematic diagram showing the configuration of a radiation imaging system 100. Figure 2 is a block diagram showing the configuration of a medical examination cart RC.

[0013] The radiation imaging system 100 is installed in a medical facility such as a hospital. A user U, such as a radiographer at the medical facility, makes rounds on patients. At that time, the user U moves to the destination, such as a ward or operating room, where the patient is located, together with the radiation imaging system 100, and performs radiation imaging on the patient. Here, an example is shown in which the destination is a ward, and a bed B is installed in the ward. A patient subject S, who is the subject of the radiation imaging, is radiographed while, for example, in a supine position on the bed B.

[0014] The radiation imaging system 100 includes an FPD 1, which is a radiation imaging device, and a mobile radiation irradiation device, a medical examination cart RC. The FPD 1 and the medical examination cart RC can communicate with each other via, for example, wireless communication.

[0015] The radiation imaging system 100 includes one or more FPDs 1. The radiation imaging system 100 includes at least one FPD 1 capable of both still and video imaging. Furthermore, the radiation imaging system 100 may also include an FPD 1 capable of only still imaging. Still imaging refers to acquiring an image of a subject S in response to a single imaging operation. Although the FPD and the radiation irradiator are synchronized during still imaging, synchronization occurs immediately before irradiation (at least after the irradiation button is pressed). In contrast, synchronization during dynamic imaging, which will be described later, differs from synchronization during still imaging in that it occurs before the irradiation button is pressed. Furthermore, synchronization during still imaging is a series of sequential request and response operations, in which the following operations are performed for each irradiation: irradiation start request → FPD imaging preparation - completion → irradiation permission → irradiation → readout. In contrast, synchronization during dynamic imaging is a non-sequential operation in which sequential communication is not performed between the radiation irradiator and the FPD for each irradiation. In this respect, synchronization during still imaging and dynamic imaging also differ. In the present specification and claims, unless otherwise specified, the term "synchronization" does not include "synchronization of still image capture," but refers to synchronization of video capture. Video capture refers to capturing multiple images of subject S by taking multiple consecutive images of the subject S in response to a single capture operation. Among video capture methods, a method of capturing images synchronously with pulse irradiation in which pulsed radiation such as X-rays is repeatedly irradiated at predetermined time intervals is called dynamic capture. In the following description, dynamic capture may also be referred to as capturing dynamic images.

[0016] [FPD] The FPD 1 is a device that generates radiation image data corresponding to the radiation R emitted from the radiation generating device 2. The FPD 1 is configured in a panel shape. The FPD 1 is portable. A user U can use the FPD 1 by mounting it on an imaging table. The user U can use the FPD 1 by placing it horizontally between the subject S and a bed B. In this case, the subject S is in a supine position on the bed. The user U can also use the FPD 1 by placing it between the subject S and the bed, as shown in FIG. 1.

[0017] The FPD 1 includes, for example, a scintillator, a PD, a TFT switch, etc. PD is an abbreviation for Photo Diode. TFT is an abbreviation for Thin Film Transistor. The scintillator, PD, TFT switch, etc. are not shown in the figure. The scintillator converts incident radiation R into light. The PDs are arranged in a matrix corresponding to the pixels. The TFT switches are arranged corresponding to each PD. The incident radiation R is converted into light by the scintillator and then incident on the PD. The PD that receives the incident radiation R accumulates the radiation R as an electric charge for each pixel. The electric charge accumulated in the PD flows out from the TFT switch to a signal line. The electric charge is amplified and A / D converted into radiation image data. The radiation image data is output to the medical cart RC. The above-mentioned FPD 1 is an indirect conversion type. However, the FPD 1 may be configured as a direct conversion type that directly converts radiation R into an electrical signal.

[0018] 2 denotes a power switch for the FPD 1. A user U can turn the power of the FPD 1 on and off by operating the power switch 1a.

[0019] [Medical Cart] As shown in FIG. 2, the medical cart RC can communicate with the RIS 40 via a communication network N. RIS is an abbreviation for Radiology Information Systems. The RIS 40 is a system that manages examinations using radiation equipment and everything from treatment reservations to examination results. The medical cart RC may also be able to communicate with an electronic medical record system and consoles provided in other radiography systems via the communication network N. The medical cart RC may also be able to communicate with other medical carts, PACS, other examination devices, bed systems, etc. PACS is an abbreviation for Picture Archiving and Communication System. The communication network N is wireless. However, the communication network N may also be wired.

[0020] The medical cart RC includes a radiation generating device 2 and a console 3 .

[0021] The radiation generating device 2 includes a device main body 21, an irradiation instruction switch 22, a tube 23, a tube support section 24, and a collimator 25. The radiation generating device 2 further includes a generator 213, a storage section 26 for the FPD 1, an optical imaging section 28, and a second display section 29. The radiation generating device 2 is movable by wheels 27 provided on the housing of the device main body 21.

[0022] The irradiation instruction switch 22 outputs an operation signal to the device main body 21 in response to an operation by the user U. In Fig. 1, the irradiation instruction switch 22 sends the operation signal to the device main body 21 via a wired connection. However, the irradiation instruction switch 22 may send the operation signal to the device main body 21 wirelessly.

[0023] The generator 213 receives an imaging instruction signal from the control unit 211, which will be described later, by operating the irradiation instruction switch 22. The generator 213 applies a voltage according to preset imaging conditions to the tube 23. The generator 213 also supplies a current according to the imaging conditions to the tube 23.

[0024] The tube 23 generates radiation R (such as X-rays) by applying a voltage and energizing it from the generator 213. At this time, the tube 23 generates radiation R at a dose and in a manner according to the imaging conditions set in advance. The tube 23 irradiates the radiation R from an irradiation port.

[0025] The tube support 24 is an arm that supports the tube 23. The tube support 24 has a support part 241 that extends upward from the device main body 21 and a support part 242 that extends forward from the top of the support part 241. The tip of the support part 242 supports the tube 23. The tube support 24 also has a joint mechanism (not shown). The tube support 24 can move the tube 23 in the X-axis direction, Y-axis direction, and Z-axis direction using the joint mechanism. The X-axis direction is the left-right direction on the paper surface of FIG. 1. The X-axis direction corresponds to the front-rear direction of the radiation generation device 2. The Y-axis direction is a direction perpendicular to the paper surface of FIG. 1. The Y-axis direction corresponds to the width direction of the radiation generation device 2. The Z-axis direction is the up-down direction on the paper surface of FIG. 1. The Z-axis direction is the vertical direction. Furthermore, the tube support part 24 can rotate the tube 23 around rotation axes parallel to the X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis by using an articulation mechanism, thereby enabling the tube support part 24 to change the irradiation direction of the radiation R.

[0026] The collimator 25 is attached to the irradiation port of the housing of the bulb 23. The collimator 25 focuses the radiation R. The collimator 25 makes the irradiation field of the radiation R a predetermined rectangular shape. The collimator 25 also includes a lamp button (not shown). When the user operates the lamp button, the collimator 25 irradiates the range that will become the irradiation field of the radiation R with visible light.

[0027] The optical imaging unit 28 has an optical system such as a lens and an imaging element such as a CCD or CMOS. CCD is an abbreviation for Charge Coupled Device. CMOS is an abbreviation for Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor. In this embodiment, the optical imaging unit 28 is provided in the housing of the collimator 25. Note that the optical imaging unit 28 may also be provided in the housing of the tube 23 or the tube support 24. The optical imaging unit 28 optically captures the subject S as a subject using visible light under the control of the control unit 211 to generate optical image data. Furthermore, the optical imaging unit 28 outputs the optical image data to the control unit 211, etc. The optical imaging unit 28 optically captures the subject S to generate optical image data of a still image or dynamic (such as a live image) image.

[0028] The second display unit 29 is composed of an LCD, an EL display, or the like. LCD is an abbreviation for Liquid Crystal Display. EL is an abbreviation for Electro-Luminescence. The second display unit 29 displays various information according to display information. The display information is input to the second display unit 29 from the control unit 211, which will be described later. The second display unit 29 is provided on the outside of the housing of the bulb 23. It is assumed that the bulb 23 is oriented vertically downward. In this case, the second display unit 29 is attached to the cover of the bulb 23 so as to face forward (to the right in FIG. 1 ).

[0029] The storage unit 26 is provided on the rear surface of the device main body 21 and stores the FPD 1 when not in use. The storage unit 26 can store one or more FPDs 1. In this embodiment, the storage unit 26 has the following configuration as an example. The storage unit 26 has three slots that can store the FPDs 1. Each slot has a connector therein that can be connected to a connector (not shown) provided on the FPD 1. Each connector is connected to a power supply circuit 262. The power supply circuit 262 can charge the battery of the FPD 1 through the connector. Only one of the three slots has a connector 261 that has a communication function for performing synchronization processing with the radiation generation device 2 for the FPD 1. In FIG. 2, only the connector 261 with the communication function is illustrated.

[0030] [Clinic cart: console] The console 3 is composed of a PC, a mobile terminal, or a dedicated device. PC is an abbreviation for personal computer. The console 3 is mounted on top of the device main body 21. The console 3 manages various information for radiographic imaging. The console 3 also acquires radiographic image data generated by the FPD 1. The console 3 can store the radiographic image data itself or transmit it to other external devices (such as a PACS).

[0031] In this embodiment, the device main body 21 and the console 3 are housed in a single housing and integrated into one unit, but the device main body 21 and the console 3 may be separate units.

[0032] The console 3 includes a control unit, a storage unit, a communication unit, a display unit 31, an operation unit 32, and an audio output unit 33. The control unit, storage unit, and communication unit of the console 3 are respectively served by the control unit 211, storage unit 212, and communication unit 214 of the radiation generation device 2. The console 3 may be configured to include dedicated control units, storage units, and communication units. In this case, it is preferable that the control unit 211 of the radiation generation device 2 and the control unit of the console 3 can communicate with each other via a wired connection.

[0033] The control unit 211 is connected to each unit of the radiation generating device 2 except for the tube 23 so as to be able to communicate with them. The control unit 211 is composed of a CPU, RAM, etc. The CPU reads out various programs stored in the storage unit 212 and loads them into the RAM. The CPU then executes various processes in cooperation with the loaded programs. As a result, the CPU controls each unit of the radiation generating device 2 and the console 3.

[0034] The storage unit 212 is configured by a non-volatile memory, a HDD, etc. The storage unit 212 stores various programs executed by the control unit 211, parameters required for executing the programs, files, and other various data. The storage unit 212 stores programs for executing various processes described below.

[0035] The storage unit 212 also stores various information related to the FPD 1 registered with the medical cart RC. This information also includes information indicating which radiography order (described later) the FPD 1 will be used for. The storage unit 212 also stores examination information, radiography order information, and synchronization status information (described later) of the medical cart RC.

[0036] The communication unit 214 is configured with a communication module etc. The communication unit 214 is capable of transmitting and receiving various signals and various data to and from an external device. The external device is the wirelessly connected FPD 1, the RIS 40 connected via the communication network N, etc.

[0037] The display unit 31 is configured with an LCD, an EL display, etc. The display unit 31 displays various information in accordance with display information input from the control unit 211.

[0038] The operation unit 32 includes, for example, one or more of a keyboard, a pointing device, a touch panel, etc. The touch panel is formed integrally with the display screen of the display unit 31. The touch panel may also be formed integrally with the display screen of the second display unit 29. The operation unit 32 accepts operation input from the user U and outputs the operation information to the control unit 211.

[0039] The audio output unit 33 includes an amplifier, a speaker, etc. The audio output unit 33 outputs audio in accordance with audio information input from the control unit 211.

[0040] [Main Power Supply Circuit] The medical examination cart RC is equipped with a main power supply circuit 34 as shown in Figure 2. The main power supply circuit 34 supplies power to each component of the radiation generation device 2 and the console 3. The main power supply circuit 34 has a power switch 34a provided on the outside of the device main body 21. The user U can turn on and off the power to the entire medical examination cart RC, including the radiation generation device 2 and the console 3, by operating the power switch 34a. Note that the main power supply circuit 34 may be configured so that when the power switch 34a is turned off, only the console 3 remains powered on, or only the console 3 remains in a sleep state.

[0041] [Examination Information and Imaging Order] The console 3 can acquire examination information for the medical cart RC from the RIS 40 via the communication unit 214. Furthermore, new examination information and imaging order information may be added to the console 3 from the RIS 40. FIG. 3 shows an example of a display screen 311 of examination information displayed on the display unit 31. The control unit 211 displays one or more pieces of examination information side by side in a list 311a on the display screen 311. The examination information is information about a scheduled examination. Each piece of examination information includes the patient ID, the patient's name, the body part to be imaged, the scheduled date and time of imaging, the size of the FPD 1 corresponding to imaging, the imaging conditions, etc. Furthermore, each piece of examination information includes information about the imaging order for radiographic imaging to be performed in each examination.

[0042] The control unit 211 accepts a selection input of examination information displayed in the list 311a from the user via the operation unit 32. When examination information is selected from the list 311a, the control unit 211 displays an examination screen 312 for the selected examination information. Fig. 4 shows an example of the examination screen 312 for the selected examination information.

[0043] The examination screen 312 displays an image display area 312a, a patient information display area 312b, an imaging order display area 312c, a reading condition setting button 312d, and the like.

[0044] The image display area 312a displays an icon F representing one or more FPDs 1 registered in the console 3. Each FPD 1 used in a medical facility is assigned an individual serial number. The user U can register one or more FPDs 1 to be used for radiography by inputting the serial number from the operation unit 32. When the FPD 1 is registered, the control unit 211 requests and acquires information such as specifications of the registered FPD 1 from the FPD 1 and the RIS 40. The acquired information such as specifications of the FPD 1 includes, for example, the size that can be imaged and whether dynamic imaging is supported. The acquired information such as specifications of the FPD 1 can also be input by the user U from the operation unit 32.

[0045] The control unit 211 may periodically communicate with each registered FPD 1 via the communication unit 214. In this case, the control unit 211 determines whether wireless communication is possible with each FPD 1. For example, an FPD 1 placed in an area of the medical facility away from the medical cart RC cannot perform wireless communication. The control unit 211 may control the display unit 31 so that the icon F of such an FPD 1 is not displayed in the image display area 312a.

[0046] The patient information display area 312b is an area for displaying patient information of the subject S to be examined. The reading condition setting button 312d is a button for setting reading conditions during imaging. The reading conditions that can be set include whether or not to perform automatic reading, the reading size during imaging, the vertical and horizontal reading direction, the reading position, the resolution, etc.

[0047] The imaging order display area 312c displays an icon C of the imaging order included in the selected examination information. The imaging order indicates the radiographic image capturing to be performed in the examination whose examination information is displayed in the imaging order display area 312c. Multiple radiographic image capturing may be scheduled for one examination. In this case, an imaging order is displayed for each individual radiographic image capturing. Furthermore, these multiple imaging orders are displayed in order from top to bottom in the order in which the imaging will be performed.

[0048] The memory unit 212 stores a unique order number and imaging conditions for each piece of imaging order information. The imaging conditions include the imaging type, tube voltage, tube current, current-time product (mAs value), imaging region, imaging direction, S value, etc. The S value is sensitivity equivalent to the radiation dose during radiography. Furthermore, the imaging conditions for a dynamic imaging order include the frame rate. Imaging types include still image imaging and dynamic imaging. Furthermore, the imaging conditions include whether or not an additional filter is used and the type thereof, and whether or not a grid is used and the type thereof. The additional filter is equipment used on the radiation generating device 2 side to adjust the radiation dose during imaging. The grid is equipment used on the FPD 1 side to reduce scattered radiation generated in the captured image.

[0049] The radiography order icon C displayed in the radiography order display area 312c simply displays some of the radiography conditions. Specifically, the radiography order icon C displays the scan size, radiography body part, radiography type, etc. The examination screen 312 illustrated in Fig. 4 indicates that still image radiography, dynamic radiography, and dynamic radiography are performed in this order during the examination.

[0050] The console 3 may receive new imaging order information of the examination information through transmission from the RIS 40. The console 3 may also receive new imaging order information through operation of the operation unit 32 by the user U.

[0051] The control unit 211 also displays some or all of the content displayed on the display unit 31 on the second display unit 29. The control unit 211 can also accept input from the user U via the touch panel of the second display unit 29. The same applies to all of the display content of the display unit 31 described below. The same also applies to the second to fourth embodiments.

[0052] [Basic Procedure for Radiation Image Capture] In radiation imaging using the radiation imaging system 100 configured as described above, the user U captures a radiation image as follows. First, the user U places the radiation imaging system 100 near the subject S, such as beside the bed B. Then, the user U has the subject S assume a supine position. Then, the user U adjusts the approximate position and orientation of the tube 23 so that the irradiation port of the housing of the tube 23 faces the region to be imaged on the subject S. Then, the user U removes the FPD 1 from the storage unit 26 and places the FPD 1 between the back of the subject S and the bed B. Then, the user U fine-tunes the orientation and irradiation field of the tube 23 so that the irradiation axis of the radiation R is perpendicular to the radiation entrance surface of the FPD 1. Then, the user U performs radiation imaging. That is, the user U causes the tube 23 to irradiate the region to be imaged on the subject S with radiation R. The FPD 1 then generates radiation image data of a still image or dynamic image showing the diagnostic target region.

[0053] [Synchronization Processing] When capturing the dynamic image described above, the control unit 211 controls the radiation generation device 2 to repeatedly irradiate radiation in pulses at a predetermined cycle. In response to this, the FPD 1 repeatedly generates radiographic images in synchronization with the radiation irradiation at the predetermined cycle. This allows the FPD 1 to generate radiographic image data of a dynamic image made up of a plurality of frame images. For this reason, it is necessary to synchronize the radiation irradiation timing by the radiation generation device 2 and the generation timing of the radiographic image by the FPD 1 with high precision.

[0054] The control unit 211 executes synchronization processing to set the radiation generation device 2 and the FPD 1 in a state where they can be synchronized, using a program stored in the storage unit 212. In this case, the control unit 211 functions as a synchronization processing unit.

[0055] A more detailed explanation will be given below. The control unit 211 is equipped with an oscillator. The oscillator can be configured with a crystal oscillator, a ceramic oscillator, or the like that generates a clock with a predetermined cycle. The control unit 211 generates a timing signal and time information using the clock generated by the oscillator. The timing signal is a pulse-like signal that is output each time one or more clocks are generated. The time information is a count value that counts up the timing signal.

[0056] In the synchronization process, the control unit 211 transmits a timing signal and time information to the FPD 1. This causes the FPD 1 to generate a copy signal with the same period as the timing signal. Furthermore, the FPD 1 counts up the copy signal taking the time information into account. This results in a synchronized state in which the control unit 211 and the FPD 1 count up the count value by the same value.

[0057] When capturing dynamic images, the control unit 211 may transmit information to the FPD 1 in advance that specifies a count value that indicates the timing of radiation irradiation by the radiation generation device 2. This allows the FPD 1 to generate radiographic images at appropriate timing. Therefore, the FPD 1 can capture good dynamic images.

[0058] [Conditions for starting synchronization processing] Synchronization processing must be performed at the appropriate time. The control unit 211 starts synchronization processing when the following conditions are met: (1) The FPD 1 is powered on. (2) The medical cart RC is powered on. (3) The FPD 1 and the connector 261 with the communication function of the storage unit 26 are connected (see Figure 5).

[0059] 6 is a flowchart of the synchronization start process performed by the control unit 211. The control unit 211 executes a program in the storage unit 212 to perform the synchronization start process described below.

[0060] When the main power supply of the medical cart RC is turned on, power is supplied to the control unit 211. The control unit 211 starts the synchronization start process as soon as power is supplied. Strictly speaking, when power is supplied to the control unit 211, the first thing it does is start up the OS. Therefore, the control unit 211 starts the synchronization start process upon completion of the OS start up process. OS is an abbreviation for Operating System.

[0061] The control unit 211 transmits a connection confirmation signal to the FPD 1 through the connector 261 of the communication slot (S11). The connection confirmation signal is a signal that requests the FPD 1 to output a response signal if the FPD that has received the signal is capable of capturing dynamic images.

[0062] Assume that an FPD 1 capable of capturing dynamic images is connected to a connector 261 having a communication function. If the power of the FPD 1 is on, the FPD 1 returns a response signal when it receives a connection confirmation signal from the control unit 211. The control unit 211 waits a predetermined time and determines whether or not a response signal has been received from the FPD 1 (S12).

[0063] The controller 211 being unable to receive a response signal means that the FPD 1 is not connected to the connector 261 or that the power supply to the FPD 1 is turned off. Also, if the FPD connected to the connector 261 is not an FPD capable of capturing dynamic images, the controller 211 is unable to receive a response signal.

[0064] Therefore, if the control unit 211 does not receive a response signal, it ends the synchronization start process without performing the synchronization process. In this case, the control unit 211 may periodically repeat the synchronization start process until the synchronization process is performed for the FPD 1. Furthermore, if there are multiple target FPDs 1, the control unit 211 may repeat the synchronization start process until the synchronization process is performed for any of the FPDs 1. Alternatively, the synchronization start process may be repeated until the synchronization process is performed for all of the target FPDs 1.

[0065] On the other hand, the reception of the response signal by the control unit 211 indicates that the main power of the medical cart RC is on, the FPD 1 is connected to the connector 261, and the power of the FPD 1 is on. Furthermore, it also indicates that the FPD 1 connected to the connector 261 is capable of capturing dynamic images. Therefore, when the control unit 211 receives the response signal, it starts synchronization processing (S13) and ends the synchronization start processing.

[0066] 7 is a flowchart of the synchronization process performed by the control unit 211. The control unit 211 executes a program in the storage unit 212 to perform the synchronization process described below.

[0067] The control unit 211 transmits a synchronization instruction to the FPD 1 through the connector 261 (S1). Upon receiving the synchronization instruction, the FPD 1 returns a response signal to the control unit 211 (S101).

[0068] The control unit 211 determines whether a response signal has been received from the FPD 1 after a predetermined time has elapsed (S2). For some reason, the signal may not reach the FPD 1 or the control unit 211, causing the synchronization process to be interrupted. For example, the user U may accidentally remove the FPD 1 from the storage unit 26. Furthermore, vibrations generated when the user U stores the FPD 1 may cause chattering in the connector 261, resulting in a loss of signal. These are merely examples, and the causes of the synchronization process being interrupted are not limited to these. Thus, if the control unit 211 does not receive a response signal from the FPD 1, the control unit 211 proceeds to S7.

[0069] On the other hand, when the control unit 211 receives the response signal, it initializes the count value of the time information (S3). The control unit 211 retains the initialized count value and the count value before initialization. The control unit 211 then transmits the time information and timing signal to the FPD 1 via the connector 261 (S4).

[0070] The FPD 1 generates a copy signal of the received timing signal (S102). Furthermore, the FPD 1 counts up the count value of the received time information based on the copy signal (S103). This completes synchronization on the FPD 1 side, and the FPD 1 transmits a notification of the completion of synchronization to the control unit 211 via the connector 261 (S104).

[0071] The control unit 211 determines whether or not a completion signal has been received from the FPD 1 after a predetermined time has elapsed (S5). In this case, as in the processing of S2, the signal may not reach the FPD 1 or the control unit 211, and the synchronization processing may be interrupted. If the control unit 211 does not receive a response signal from the FPD 1, the control unit 211 proceeds to processing of S7.

[0072] Meanwhile, upon receiving a completion signal from the FPD 1, the control unit 211 updates the synchronization status information related to the FPD 1 stored in the storage unit 212. The synchronization status information is information related to the synchronization status of the registered FPD 1 capable of dynamic imaging. The synchronization status information includes information on whether or not a synchronization status is established, the start time of the synchronization status, time information, and timing signal information. For example, the control unit 211 refers to the synchronization status information to confirm whether the target FPD 1 is in a synchronized state. The control unit 211 also refers to the synchronization status information to control the imaging of dynamic images.

[0073] Then, the control unit 211 updates the synchronization status information and then ends the synchronization process.

[0074] On the other hand, if no signal is obtained from the FPD 1 in S2 or S5, the control unit 211 does not update the synchronization status information for that FPD 1 (S7). In other words, the synchronization status information previously obtained for the FPD 1 is maintained without being updated. In this case, if the FPD 1 is in a synchronized state as a result of the previous synchronization process, that synchronized state is maintained as is. More specifically, the start time of the synchronized state, information regarding the time information and timing signal, and the like are also maintained as they were in the previous synchronization process. For example, the count value of the time information is returned to the count value that would have been obtained if it had not been initialized in S3. The control unit 211 then terminates the synchronization process.

[0075] In the above synchronization process, it is difficult for the FPD 1 to generate a copy signal that is exactly the same as the received timing signal in terms of accuracy. Therefore, the count value of the time information on the FPD 1 side may become inaccurate over time. For this reason, the control unit 211 also manages the expiration date of the synchronization process for each FPD 1. The control unit 211 periodically references the synchronization status information for each FPD 1. Then, when the expiration date has passed since the start time of the synchronization process, the control unit 211 updates the synchronization status from "Yes" to "No."

[0076] [Setting the Execution of Synchronization Start Processing] The control unit 211 can select whether to execute or not execute the above-described synchronization start processing depending on the setting. The setting can be made by the user U operating the operation unit 32. In this case, the operation unit 32 functions as a setting input unit.

[0077] [Technical Effects of the Embodiments of the Invention] In the radiation imaging system 100, the control unit 211 executes the synchronization process when the power of the FPD 1 is turned on by the above-described synchronization start process. Therefore, the synchronization process is performed promptly from the state in which the FPD 1 is turned on and ready for use. Therefore, the synchronization process is performed even when the user does not intend to do so, and it is possible to optimize the synchronization state.

[0078] Furthermore, the control unit 211 executes synchronization start processing and executes synchronization processing when all predetermined conditions are met. The predetermined conditions in this case are that the FPD 1 is powered on, the storage unit 26 and the FPD 1 are connected, and the medical cart RC is powered on. This allows the control unit 211 to stably communicate with the FPD 1 and the medical cart RC, enabling accurate synchronization processing. Furthermore, when the power of the FPD 1 and the power of the medical cart RC are both on, this means that dynamic image capture is possible. Therefore, a synchronized state is established in which dynamic image capture is possible. Therefore, synchronization processing is performed even when the user does not intend it to be performed. This makes it possible to respond to sudden dynamic image capture needs and optimize the synchronization state.

[0079] Furthermore, if communication is disconnected before the synchronization process for the FPD 1 is completed during the synchronization process, the control unit 211 maintains the synchronization status information from the previous synchronization process. As a result, the control unit 211 maintains the synchronization status using the synchronization status information, which is the setting acquired by the previous synchronization process. In other words, even if the user U removes the FPD 1 or a signal transmission failure occurs due to chattering, the synchronization status of the FPD 1 is maintained. Therefore, the user U can capture dynamic images even with the FPD 1 whose synchronization process ended with a failure.

[0080] The radiography system 100 includes a mobile radiological imaging cart RC as a mobile radiation irradiation device. This allows the system to move to various locations within the medical facility and capture radiological images. Furthermore, the control unit 211 optimizes the synchronization state through synchronization start processing, allowing radiological imaging to be performed promptly even after movement. This allows the user U to appropriately respond to active imaging and smoothly proceed with the examination.

[0081] The radiation imaging system 100 has an operation unit 32 through which the user U inputs a setting for whether or not to execute synchronization processing via the control unit 211. This makes it possible to disable the automatic execution function of synchronization processing in an environment where dynamic image capture is not planned or is not required, thereby reducing the processing load and power consumption of the control unit 211 and the FPD 1.

[0082] [Modification] The FPD 1 may have a function to automatically power on when connected to the connector of the storage unit 26 in a power-off state by detecting or receiving power from a current or voltage. Even in this case, the control unit 211 can perform the synchronization start process of FIG. 6.

[0083] In the mobile medical examination cart RC of the radiation imaging system 100 described above, the radiation generation device 2 and the console 3 share the control unit 211, the memory unit 212, and the communication unit 214. However, the configuration is not limited to this. For example, the mobile medical examination cart RC may be configured such that the radiation generation device 2 and the console 3 each have their own control unit, memory unit, and communication unit. In this case, it is preferable that the control unit of the radiation generation device 2 and the control unit of the console 3 can communicate via a wired connection.

[0084] In this case, the synchronization start process may be performed by either the control unit of the radiation generating device 2 or the control unit of the console 3. Furthermore, in this case, turning on the main power of the medical cart RC may be excluded from the start requirements for the synchronization start process. For example, the synchronization start process can be performed if only one of the devices having the control unit that executes the synchronization start process is powered on. In other words, if the radiation generating device 2 or the console 3 that executes the synchronization start process is powered on, it is not necessary to power on the entire medical cart RC. However, it is preferable that at least the radiation generating device 2 is powered on at the stage of executing the synchronization process.

[0085] Second Embodiment A radiation imaging system 100 according to a second embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 8. This radiation imaging system 100 has the same configuration as that shown in Fig. 1, and the configuration of the medical examination cart RC is also substantially the same as that shown in Fig. 2. However, the radiation imaging system 100 according to the second embodiment differs from the first embodiment in the synchronization start processing performed by the control unit 211.

[0086] In this synchronization start process, the control unit 211 starts the synchronization process when the following conditions are met: (1) The FPD 1 is powered on. (2) The medical examination cart RC is powered on. (3) The medical examination cart RC changes from a moving state to a predetermined stopped state.

[0087] The predetermined stopped state indicates that a preset time has elapsed since the medical cart RC came to a stop from a moving state.

[0088] 8 is a flowchart of the synchronization start process performed by the control unit 211. The control unit 211 executes a program in the storage unit 212 to perform the synchronization start process described below. If the control unit 211 ends this synchronization start process without performing the synchronization process, it may periodically repeat this synchronization start process.

[0089] When the main power supply of the medical cart RC is turned on, power is supplied to the control unit 211. When power is supplied, the control unit 211 starts synchronization start processing. The control unit 211 refers to information about the FPD 1 registered in the storage unit 212 (S21).

[0090] The control unit 211 then transmits a connection confirmation signal to the registered FPD 1 (S22). The connection confirmation signal is a signal that requests the FPD 1 to output a response signal if the FPD that receives the signal is capable of capturing dynamic images. In this case, the control unit 211 wirelessly transmits the connection confirmation signal through the communication unit 214, rather than through the connector 261. Note that the transmission of the connection confirmation signal may be targeted only at FPDs 1 that are capable of capturing dynamic images. In that case, the connection confirmation signal may simply be a signal that requests the output of a response signal when received. Furthermore, if multiple FPDs 1 that are capable of capturing dynamic images are registered, the control unit 211 may perform the process of S22 for each FPD 1.

[0091] If the FPD 1 is powered on, the FPD 1 returns a response signal when it receives a connection confirmation signal from the control unit 211. The control unit 211 determines whether or not a response signal has been received from the FPD 1 until a predetermined specified time has elapsed (S23).

[0092] The controller 211 cannot receive a response signal when the power of the FPD 1 is turned off. Therefore, if the controller 211 cannot receive a response signal, the synchronization start process ends. Furthermore, if there are multiple target FPDs 1, the controller 211 may perform the synchronization start process for each FPD 1 until a response signal is received.

[0093] When the response signal is received, the control unit 211 determines whether the medical examination cart RC is in a moving state (S24). The moving state of the medical examination cart RC can be detected by an acceleration sensor provided somewhere on the medical examination cart RC, a rotation sensor provided on the wheels 27, etc. If the control unit 211 does not detect the movement of the medical examination cart RC, it ends the synchronization start process.

[0094] On the other hand, if the moving state of the medical examination cart RC is detected, the control unit 211 determines whether the medical examination cart RC is stopped (S25). The control unit 211 repeats this determination until the stopped state of the medical examination cart RC is detected. Then, when the stopped state of the medical examination cart RC is detected, the control unit 211 determines whether the stopped state of the medical examination cart RC will be maintained for a specified time (S26).

[0095] If the mobile medical cart RC does not remain stopped for the specified time and moves, the control unit 211 returns to S25 and again determines whether the mobile medical cart RC is stopped (S25). On the other hand, if the mobile medical cart RC remains stopped for the specified time, the control unit 211 starts synchronization processing (S27) and ends the synchronization start processing.

[0096] 8 may be performed when the FPD 1 is not connected to the connector 261 of the storage unit 26. On the other hand, the synchronization process of S27 is preferably performed with the FPD 1 connected to the connector 261. Therefore, when proceeding from S26 to S27, the control unit 211 may display, on the display unit 31 or the like, a message indicating that the FPD 1 should be connected to the connector 261. In this case, the control unit 211 preferably waits until the FPD 1 is connected to the connector 261 before performing the synchronization process.

[0097] 7 is executed with the FPD 1 connected to the connector 261 to reduce the effects of communication interruptions, noise, and the like. However, in an environment with good wireless communication conditions, the control unit 211 may perform the synchronization process for the FPD 1 via wireless communication. In an environment with good wireless communication conditions, the control unit 211 may also perform the synchronization process of S27 of the synchronization start process in FIG. 8 via wireless communication.

[0098] In the case of the synchronization start process shown in FIG. 8, the user U can also set whether to execute or not execute the process by operating the operation unit 32 as a setting input unit.

[0099] In the radiography system 100, the control unit 211 executes synchronization start processing and executes synchronization processing when a predetermined condition is met. In this case, the predetermined condition is the FPD 1 being powered on and the medical cart RC being stopped for a predetermined period of time after moving. In this case, by setting the transition of the medical cart RC from a moving state to a stopped state as the condition, the control unit 211 can detect the start of a round by the medical cart RC. Therefore, synchronization processing is executed under circumstances where there is a high possibility that imaging will be performed by the FPD 1. Therefore, the FPD 1 can be synchronized at the imaging stage, making it possible to optimize the synchronization state. As a result, imaging can be performed quickly and misuse of an FPD in an unsynchronized state can be prevented.

[0100] In this embodiment, the medical visit cart RC may also be configured so that the radiation generating device 2 and the console 3 each have their own control unit, storage unit, and communication unit. In this case, either the control unit of the radiation generating device 2 or the control unit of the console 3 may perform the synchronization start process. In addition, in the synchronization start process, turning on the main power of the medical visit cart RC may be excluded from the start requirements. The reason for this is the same as in the first embodiment.

[0101] [Third Embodiment] A radiation imaging system 100 according to a third embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 9. This radiation imaging system 100 has the same configuration as that shown in Fig. 1, and the configuration of the medical examination cart RC is also substantially the same as that shown in Fig. 2. However, the radiation imaging system 100 according to the third embodiment differs from the first embodiment in the synchronization start processing performed by the control unit 211.

[0102] In this synchronization start process, the control unit 211 starts the synchronization process when the following conditions are met: (1) The FPD 1 is powered on; (2) The medical cart RC is powered on; or (3) The operation unit 32 is operated or touched.

[0103] The case where contact has been made refers to, for example, a case where no substantial content has been input from the operation unit 32. More specifically, this refers to only a pointer movement operation using a pointing device, only a touch operation on a touch panel, etc. However, operation on the operation unit 32 may be required, and contact may be excluded.

[0104] 9 is a flowchart of the synchronization start process performed by the control unit 211. The control unit 211 executes a program in the storage unit 212 to perform the synchronization start process described below. Note that if the control unit 211 ends this synchronization start process without performing the synchronization process, it may periodically repeat the synchronization start process.

[0105] The processes from S31 to S33 are the same as the processes from S21 to S23 of the synchronization start process in Fig. 8. Then, when the control unit 211 receives a response signal from the FPD 1, it determines whether or not the operation unit 32 has been operated or touched (S34). As a result, if the control unit 211 does not detect an operation or touch on the operation unit 32, it ends the synchronization start process.

[0106] On the other hand, if an operation or contact with the operation unit 32 is detected, the control unit 211 starts the synchronization process (S35) and ends the synchronization start process.

[0107] 9 may also be performed when the FPD 1 is not connected to the connector 261 of the storage unit 26. On the other hand, the synchronization process of S35 is preferably performed when the FPD 1 is connected to the connector 261. Therefore, similar to the synchronization start process shown in FIG. 8, it is preferable that the control unit 211 waits for the FPD 1 to be connected to the connector 261 before executing the synchronization process.

[0108] In addition, in an environment where wireless communication conditions are good, the synchronization process of S35 may be performed by wireless communication in the synchronization start process of FIG.

[0109] In the case of the synchronization start process, too, the user U can set whether to execute or not execute the process by operating the operation unit 32 as a setting input unit.

[0110] In the radiation imaging system 100, the control unit 211 executes synchronization start processing and executes synchronization processing when predetermined conditions are met. In this case, the predetermined conditions are the power-on state of the FPD 1 and an operation or contact with the operation unit 32. In this case, by setting the operation or contact with the operation unit 32 as the condition, the control unit 211 can detect an operation in preparation for imaging. The control unit 211 then executes synchronization processing under circumstances in which imaging by the FPD 1 is likely to be performed. Therefore, the FPD 1 can be synchronized at the imaging stage, making it possible to optimize the synchronization state. As a result, imaging can be performed promptly and misuse of an unsynchronized FPD can be prevented.

[0111] In this embodiment, the medical visit cart RC may also be configured so that the radiation generating device 2 and the console 3 each have their own control unit, storage unit, and communication unit.

[0112] [Fourth embodiment] The configuration of a radiation imaging system according to the fourth embodiment will be described with reference to Figures 10 to 12. Figure 10 is a schematic diagram showing a radiation imaging system 100A. Figure 11 is a block diagram showing the configuration of a cradle 4.

[0113] The radiography system 100A includes an FPD 1, a medical cart RC, and a cradle 4. The cradle 4 and the medical cart RC can communicate with each other via wired communication using a communication cable, for example. The communication cable is connected as appropriate when executing synchronization processing, which will be described later.

[0114] The cradle 4 includes a control unit 41 , a storage unit 42 , a communication unit 43 , a display unit 44 , an operation unit 45 , a power supply circuit 46 , and a storage unit 47 .

[0115] The control unit 41 is composed of a CPU, RAM, etc. The CPU reads out a program stored in the storage unit 42 and loads it into the RAM. The CPU then executes synchronization initiation processing and synchronization processing for the FPD 1 in cooperation with the loaded program. In addition, the CPU controls charging of the FPD 1 stored in the storage unit 47.

[0116] The storage unit 42 is configured with a non-volatile memory, an HDD, etc. The storage unit 42 stores various data such as programs executed by the control unit 41, parameters required for executing the programs, files, etc. The storage unit 42 also stores information required for synchronization processing related to the FPD 1 and information generated by the synchronization processing.

[0117] The communication unit 43 is configured with a communication module etc. The communication unit 43 is capable of transmitting and receiving various signals and various data to and from external devices such as the FPD 1 and the medical cart RC, which are wirelessly connected.

[0118] The display unit 44 is configured by an LCD, an EL display, etc. The display unit 44 displays various information in accordance with display information input from the control unit 41.

[0119] The operation unit 45 includes, for example, one or more of a keyboard, a pointing device, a touch panel, etc. The touch panel is formed integrally with the display screen of the display unit 44. The operation unit 45 accepts operation input from the user U and outputs the operation information to the control unit 41.

[0120] The storage unit 47 is provided on the top surface of the cradle 4 and stores the FPD 1. The storage unit 47 can store one FPD 1, but may be configured to store more FPDs 1. The storage unit 47 has a slot capable of storing the FPD 1. A connector 471 that can be connected to a connector (not shown) provided on the FPD 1 is provided inside the slot. The connector 471 is connected to the power supply circuit 46. The power supply circuit 46 can charge the battery of the FPD 1 through the connector. Furthermore, the connector 471 has a communication function for performing synchronization processing with the FPD 1.

[0121] The cradle 4 also includes a main power supply circuit (not shown) that supplies power to each component of the cradle 4. The main power supply circuit may include a power switch provided on the outside of the case of the cradle 4.

[0122] The control unit 41 of the cradle 4 functions as a synchronization processing unit, and the storage unit 47 functions as a storage unit that stores the FPD 1. The control unit 41 executes synchronization start processing for the FPD 1 stored in the storage unit 47.

[0123] In this synchronization start process, the control unit 41 starts the synchronization process when the following conditions are met: (1) The power supply of the FPD 1 is turned on. (2) The connection state between the FPD 1 and the connector 471 having a communication function of the storage unit 47 (see FIG. 10).

[0124] 12 is a flowchart of the synchronization start process performed by the control unit 41. The control unit 41 executes a program stored in the storage unit 42 to perform the synchronization start process described below.

[0125] With the main power of the cradle 4 turned on, the control unit 41 transmits a connection confirmation signal to the FPD 1 through the connector 471 (S41). The connection confirmation signal is a signal that requests the FPD 1 to output a response signal if the FPD that has received the signal is capable of capturing dynamic images.

[0126] Assume that an FPD 1 capable of capturing dynamic images is connected to the connector 471. If the power of the FPD 1 is on, the FPD 1 returns a response signal when it receives a connection confirmation signal from the control unit 41. The control unit 41 determines whether or not a response signal has been received from the FPD 1 until a predetermined specified time has elapsed (S42).

[0127] The controller 41 being unable to receive a response signal means that the FPD 1 is not connected to the connector 471 or the power supply of the FPD 1 is turned off. Also, if the FPD connected to the connector 471 is not an FPD capable of capturing dynamic images, the controller 41 is unable to receive a response signal.

[0128] Therefore, if the control unit 41 does not receive a response signal, it ends the synchronization start process without performing the synchronization process. In this case, the control unit 41 may periodically repeat the synchronization start process until the synchronization process is performed for the FPD 1. Furthermore, if there are multiple target FPDs 1, the control unit 41 may repeat the synchronization start process until the synchronization process is performed for any of the FPDs 1. Alternatively, the synchronization start process may be repeated until the synchronization process is performed for all of the target FPDs 1.

[0129] On the other hand, the reception of the response signal by the control unit 41 indicates that the FPD 1 is connected to the connector 471 and that the power of the FPD 1 is on. Furthermore, it also indicates that the FPD 1 connected to the connector 471 is capable of capturing dynamic images. Therefore, when the control unit 41 receives the response signal, it starts synchronization processing (S43) and ends the synchronization start processing.

[0130] The synchronization process that the control unit 41 executes for the FPD 1 in S43 is the same as the synchronization process shown in FIG. 7 that the control unit 211 executes for the FPD 1. As a result, the cradle 4 and the FPD 1 are synchronized. The control unit 41 of the cradle 4 executes the synchronization process to generate time information and a timing signal. The control unit 41 stores the time information and the timing signal in the storage unit 42.

[0131] The control unit 41 of the cradle 4 then executes synchronization processing with the control unit 211 of the medical cart RC. In this case, it is preferable that the control unit 41 of the cradle 4 and the control unit 211 of the medical cart RC are connected by a communication cable so that wired communication is possible. The synchronization processing executed by the control unit 41 with the control unit 211 is the same as the synchronization processing shown in Fig. 7 that the control unit 211 executes with the FPD 1. In this case, the control unit 41 executes synchronization processing based on the time information and timing signals recorded in the memory unit 42.

[0132] The control unit 211 acquires the time information and a copy of the timing signal from the control unit 41. As a result, the cradle 4 and the medical cart RC are synchronized, and therefore the medical cart RC and the FPD 1 are also synchronized. When capturing dynamic images, the control unit 211 of the medical cart RC can synchronize the timing of radiation irradiation with the timing of FPD 1 capture using the time information and the copy of the timing signal.

[0133] In the above description, a process in which the cradle 4 and the FPD 1 perform synchronization processing, and then the cradle 4 and the medical cart RC perform synchronization processing, is exemplified. However, this is not limiting. For example, the cradle 4 and the medical cart RC may perform synchronization processing, and then the cradle 4 and the FPD 1 may perform synchronization processing.

[0134] In the case of the cradle 4 as well, the synchronization start process can be set to be executed or not executed by the user U operating the operation unit 45 as a setting input unit.

[0135] Furthermore, the radiation imaging system 100A may also have a function of automatically powering on the FPD 1 when the FPD 1 is connected to the connector 471 of the storage unit 26 in a power-off state. Even in this case, the control unit 41 can perform the synchronization start process of FIG.

[0136] In the radiography system 100A, the control unit 41 executes synchronization start processing and executes synchronization processing when predetermined conditions are met. The predetermined conditions in this case are the power-on state of the FPD 1 and the connection of the FPD 1 to the connector 471 of the storage unit 47. In this case, the power-on state of the mobile cart RC can be excluded from the requirements for synchronization processing. This allows the FPD 1 to be synchronized more frequently or more easily. Furthermore, even if the FPD 1 is located far from the mobile cart RC, the synchronization processing of the FPD 1 can be completed. Therefore, the FPD 1 can be synchronized with a high probability at the imaging stage, enabling optimization of the synchronization state. This allows imaging to be performed quickly and also reduces the misuse of an unsynchronized FPD.

[0137] [Others] The present invention has been described above based on the above embodiment. However, the description in the above embodiment is a preferred example of the radiation imaging system according to the present invention, and the present invention is not limited to this.

[0138] For example, if a plurality of FPDs 1 are used in the radiation imaging system 100, 100A, the usage history of each FPD 1 may be stored in the storage unit 212 or the RIS 40. The control unit 211, 41 then refers to the usage history and acquires the usage frequency in the radiation imaging system 100, 100A. Furthermore, the control unit 211, 41 may perform synchronization start processing only for an FPD 1 whose usage frequency is equal to or greater than a predetermined value.

[0139] 8 and 9 may not be limited to FPDs 1 registered in the radiation imaging system 100. For example, if there is an FPD 1 capable of wireless communication via the communication unit 214, the control unit 211 may execute the synchronization start process regardless of whether the FPD 1 is registered.

[0140] Furthermore, although the above-described radiation imaging systems 100 and 100A include a medical cart RC, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, both the radiation generator 2 and the console 3 may be housed in a stationary or portable housing other than a medical cart. Furthermore, the radiation generator 2 and the console 3 may be configured as separate entities rather than being integrated.

[0141] Furthermore, although the above embodiment mainly refers to dynamic imaging, the contents presented in the above embodiment can also be applied to other types of dynamic imaging (for example, fluoroscopic imaging, etc.).

[0142] Furthermore, the detailed configurations and operations of the components constituting the radiation imaging systems 100 and 100A in the above embodiments can be modified as appropriate without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
