Abstract
A wearable electronic system for the multi-modal monitoring and early detection of pre-eclampsia is disclosed. The system comprises a wristworn computing platform and a wirelessly coupled abdominal sensor unit. The wrist-worn device integrates a full-color touchscreen display (16); a rotary encoder (22) employing a Hall-effect sensor and a conductive crown surface (27) functioning as an ECG reference electrode; and a biometric sensor cluster comprising a four-photodiode optical array (17), a multi-wavelength LED array (21), a SioZ / ECG electrode assembly (19), and a skin-surface temperature sensor (18), all interfaced to a unified analog front-end (30). A central multi-core microcontroller unit (28), supported by high-bandwidth PSRAM (37) and NOR-Flash (29), orchestrates real-time signal processing for cuffless blood pressure estimation. A hardware security module (45) ensures hardware-rooted encryption of all maternal and fetal biometric data. The abdominal sensor utilizes a piezoelectric transducer and microphone to capture fetal heart rate and uterine contractions, enabling consolidated clinical-grade surveillance and automated risk classification for hypertensive disorders during pregnancy.
