Abstract

The invention provides a method for delineating the mineralization center of a porphyry gold deposit using trace element characteristics of chlorite, belonging to the technical field of mineral exploration. The method comprises: sampling and recording spatial information within a known porphyry gold deposit area; screening structurally homogeneous chlorite samples for testing by means of microscopy and scanning electron microscopy; analyzing major and trace element contents using electron probe and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry; screening and removing data points affected by contamination; analyzing the variation patterns of specific trace element contents and ratios in chlorite with distance from the mineralization center, establishing an exponential quantitative relationship model between the Ti / Sr ratio and distance; and using this model to calculate the predicted distance based on the Ti / Sr ratio of samples from unknown areas, combined with spatial analysis to delineate the mineralization center.
