Abstract
The present invention relates to a natural antifungal formulation made with a combination of essential oils, tinctures, and hydrosols obtained from aromatic and medicinal plant species for the control and treatment of the fungus Trichophyton rubrum, the causative agent of athlete's foot. The essential oils of Thymus vulgaris L., Tagetes lunulata Ort., and Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr. & LM Perr. that comprise it exhibit antifungal activity by inhibiting fungal growth. In addition, the essential oil of Lavandula angustifolia Mill. and Salvia rosmarinus Spenn., along with the hydrosol of Salvia rosmarinus Spenn., have an anti-inflammatory effect. This is a natural alternative with no adverse effects and can be used by immunocompromised individuals and those with chronic illnesses.
