Abstract

The present invention relates to an ink for the colorimetric detection of copper ions (Cu2+) present in aqueous solutions or an alcohol-water mixture, wherein said ink is based on an organic compound of the Schiff base family, and can be used as a sensor that shows a color change in the presence of copper ions in solution and impregnated onto paper strips at a concentration lower than the maximum permitted in the Mexican standard PROY-NOM-127SSA1-201. The analysis and detection can be carried out using the ink both in solution and impregnated onto paper strips (solid state), showing detection limits of 4.0x10-5 M (9.98 ppm), 8X10-6 m (1.99 ppm), respectively.
