Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing rod-shaped tobacco products (11, 11a, 11b) which have at least one sensory substance or functional active substance (7) on the outer side of their tipping paper (9, 9a, 9b), wherein, to increase the stability of the sensory substance or functional active substance (7) on the surface of the tobacco product (11, 11a, 11b), a material web (1) is provided with an embossed structure and wound onto a bobbin (5) in a first method step and, in a second method step, the embossed material web (4) is unwound from the bobbin, tipping papers (9) or double-strand tipping papers (9a, 9b) are separated from the embossed material web (4) and each glued to a tobacco product (11) or doublestrand tobacco product (11a, 11b), so that in each case a tipping paper (9, 9a, 9b) forms an outer side of a tobacco product (11, 11a, 11b) at least in the area that touches the lips of the smoker, wherein the material web (1, 4) is provided with a sensory substance or functional active substance (7) on the side which forms the outer side of the tobacco product (11, 11a, 11b). The invention also relates to the tipping papers (9, 9a, 9b) for tobacco products (10) produced using the method according to the invention.
