Outdoor air quality monitoring and notification system and method thereof

Abstract

The present disclosure generally relates to a system of air quality monitoring and notification and a method thereof specifically to monitor outdoor air quality. The system is composed of a monitoring device (100), a communication device (200), and a cloud Internet-of-Things platform (300), which operates on a dual-mode system either online or offline mode. The monitoring device (100) is used for collecting air quality 10 data and processing and analyzing the same. It is further composed of a power port and cable (114), a power switch (116), a reset switch (118), an online (102) and offline (104) switch, a plurality of gas sensors (106, 108, 110, 112), a real time clock module (122), a microcontroller with builtin WiFi module (120), a plurality of output display units (124, 126), a sound output unit (128), and a memory card module (130) all secured and enclosed in a rectangular enclosure (140). It is mounted and secured on an extendable vertical frame (400) to allow adjustments in height at levels conducive for air quality monitoring. The microcontroller (120) transmits processed data to the communication device (200) through the internet (202). The internet further transmits the data in the cloud IoT platform (300) that is further comprised of a cloud web server (302), a computing device (304), and a mobile device (306).
