Means for stabilizing projectiles in flight

Abstract

The present invention provides a means for stabilizing projectiles in flight and a slug stabilized by said means. The stabilizing means comprises a plurality of stator vanes disposed internally within the projectiles. These vanes generate a spin of the projectile about its axis of flight, thereby creating gyroscopic stabilization during its flight. Thus, the invention enables the projectile to be fired from smoothbore firearms. The slug may take the form of a shotgun slug.
