Abstract
A process for preparing bioactive and biodegradable films based on gelatin enriched with date syrup. These films are not only biodegradable due to their composition of bio-based materials, but also bioactive because of the addition of date by-products (date syrup). This process produces an edible film with a plasticizing texture, offering increased resistance to stretching and mechanical shocks. In addition, the film has optimal opacity for better food preservation and displays significant antioxidant activity, thus contributing to the protection of packaged products against oxidation.
