Abstract

The present invention is directed to a golf glove. The glove includes a glove body having a plurality of fingers extending therefrom; a coupling tab, wherein the coupling tab has a magnetic mechanism disposed thereon; and a fastener mechanism disposed on the glove body and / or the coupling tab, operative to couple the coupling tab to the glove body.

[0002] The present invention relates to athletic gloves, and more particularly, to a golf glove with magnetic fastener.

[0003] Currently, golf gloves are worn and removed multiple times during a round of golf. Specifically, most golfers wear a glove while hitting woods and irons but remove their glove to putt. As such, golf gloves can be easily misplaced or lost during a round of golf. Currently, golfers have few options for protecting against misplacement of a glove, which includes keeping the glove in a pocket or utilizing the Velcro from the glove to affix the glove to something. However, these methods can reduce comfort and / or cause premature wear of the golf glove.

[0004] As can be seen, there is a need for a mechanism for securely attaching a golf glove to prevent loss during a round of golf.SUMMARY OF THE DRAWINGS

[0005] The present invention is directed to a golf glove having a glove body with a plurality of fingers extending therefrom. The glove further has a coupling tab, wherein the coupling tab has a magnetic mechanism disposed thereon, and a fastener mechanism disposed on the glove body and / or the coupling tab, operative to couple the coupling tab to the glove body.

[0011] The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

[0012] As stated above, golf gloves can be lost or misplaced during a round of golf due to the frequency with which they are removed, and a lack of ability to affix the glove to an easily accessible surface.

[0013] Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides a golf glove with a mechanism for quick fastening and release to an easily accessible surface, which can prevent wear, loss, and discomfort associated with prior art solutions.

[0014] The golf glove may be a glove of a type known in the art, made of materials commonly used in golf gloves, such as leather, synthetic leather, or a combination of materials. The choice of materials may vary based on the preferences of the user.

[0015] The glove may be designed to fit snugly on the golfer's hand and provides grip and protection while playing golf. The glove may have various forms, shapes, and designs, and may include at least five fingers extending from a central body. The glove may comprise a fastener manufactured of any material suitable for fastening a coupling tab to the central body, including but not limited to Velcro® hook and loop closures, buttons, etc. Alternatively, the coupling tab may be stitched or permanently adhered to the glove body.

[0016] The glove may comprise any suitable magnetic material, such as a neodymium magnet. The magnetic fastener may be adjustable in strength to provide more / less attachment force as desired by a user or depending upon a surface to which the glove may be fastened. The magnet may be sewn into a coupling tab or may be inserted into a pre-made pocket of the coupling tab. Alternatively, the magnet may be installed on a palm surface or finger of the glove. The configuration may be modified providing the glove may be securely attached to a metal surface without negatively impacting the golfer's game.

[0017] In some embodiments, the glove may further comprise a retractable cord or a clip operative to attach the glove to a belt or bag.

[0018] Referring now to FIGS. 1 and 2, FIG. 1 illustrates an embodiment of a golf glove 100 with a magnetic fastener. The golf glove comprises a golf glove body 102 with a coupling tab 104 formed at a back of the body 102. The coupling tab 104 may have a fastened position affixed to a body fastener 108 (not visible) to securely accommodate a user's hand and an open position to for ease of installation on a user's hand. The coupling tab 104 comprises a magnetic fastener 106 for secure attachment and easy removal of the body 102 to an exterior surface. The magnet is secure within the coupling tab 104 and is thus not removable. In other embodiments, the magnet could be positioned under the surface of the coupling tab 104, such that indicia 115 may be placed over the magnet area (see FIG. 3).

[0019] FIG. 3 shows the body fastener 108 in an open position and may include a hook and loop (110 / 112) fastening arrangement.

Claims

1. A golf glove, the glove comprising:a glove body having a plurality of fingers extending therefrom;a coupling tab, wherein the coupling tab has a magnetic mechanism disposed thereon; anda fastener mechanism disposed on the glove body and / or the coupling tab, operative to couple the coupling tab to the glove body.

2. The golf glove of claim 1, wherein the magnet is a neodymium magnet.

3. The golf glove of claim 1, wherein the fastener mechanism is a hook and loop closure.
