A method for performing a handover by a subscriber station (SS) in a broadband wireless communication system including a serving base station (BS) communicating with the SS, and at least one neighbor BS neighboring the serving BS. The SS receives downlink signals from the serving BS and the neighbor BS; measures an arrival time difference between the downlink signal received from the serving BS and the downlink signal received from the neighbor BS; and transmits the measured arrival time difference to the serving BS.

The illuminated umbrella assembly comprises (i) a lower vertical support pole having a first end for engagement to a generally horizontal surface and a second end extending upwardly there from; (ii) an upper vertical support pole having a first end coupled to the second end of the lower vertical support pole and a second end extending upwardly there from; (iii) a plurality of umbrella support bars extending from the second end of the upper vertical support pole; (iv) an umbrella panel overlaying and coupled to the plurality of umbrella support bars; (v) a hinged column coupled coaxially around and selectively movable along the upper vertical support pole; (vi) a plurality of hollowed, elongated and non-opaque support rails, each having a first end coupled to the hinged column and a second end coupled to one of the plurality of umbrella support bars; (vii) a plurality of light strands positioned internally within and extending substantially along the length of the plurality of hollowed, elongated and non-opaque support rails, each of the plurality of light strands having one of a plurality of plugs on one end thereof; (viii) a battery sleeve containing a series of rechargeable DC batteries wherein the battery sleeve is contained coaxially within the lower vertical support pole and is electrically wired to provide power to the light strands by including outlets to engage with said plugs; (ix) a solar panel overlaying at least a portion of the umbrella panel and electrically wired to provide power to the light strands through the outlets; and (x) a plurality of coupling hinges for individually attaching the second ends of the support rails to the plurality of umbrella support bars. A power switch is often provided to control the illumination of the light strands.

A cam style hub and strut system for use in single panel fabric, cloth, or plastic units, or structures with an unlimited number of wall and/or roof panels. The purpose of the cam style hub is to compensate for certain fabric characteristics and to allow easier setup of structures containing flexible or rigid support struts connected to a central hub by lessening the distance of the diametrically opposing struts during assembly, and applying the force necessary to engage the self-supporting structure by engaging the cam, increasing the distance between the ends of the opposing struts. The amount the distance is increased can be dictated by materials used and the size of the panel. The hub may contain an optional "locking" feature activated when the hub cam is engaged for convenience and safety reasons. The principle can be used with any number of struts greater than one.

Devices, apparatus, systems, and methods of installing LED (light emitting diodes) for glass tiles and glass blocks. The LEDs can be housed in flexible strips having flexible bendable transparent housing sleeves with ends that can interconnect by male and female ends to one another with various types of interconnectors. Each separate sleeve can house up to 33 LEDs in a transparent plastic sleeve. A transparent connector sleeve can be slid over the interconnected ends and heat shrunk in place. The glass tiles can be laid out to uniform joints spacings between the glass tiles of approximately 3/16 of an inch. The LED strips can be placed on a surface layer of transparent grout that has been laid in the joint spacing, followed by a top layer of transparent grout. The transparent grout can be removable grout and include clear Silicon. The LED strips can have peel and stick back layers with adhesive backing that allows mounting to the lower surface. The LED strips can be placed with glass tiles, and other types of tiles such as but not limited to ceramic tiles, stone tiles and the like, as well as with glass blocks. Splitter(s) can be used to run parallel runs of LED strips at different spaced apart locations.

In addition, the ultraviolet luminescent ink is transparent under natural light, so that the pattern is not visually observed, but emits light only upon UV irradiation. Assemblies and methods for securing a fiber optic network cassette assembly are provided. A typical secure cassette assembly includes a cabinet adapted to be locked on both a front and rear side of the cabinet. Internally, a plurality of cassettes are placed on a cassette tray adapted to slide back and forth within the cabinet. Insert pins are placed into holes on the cassettes locking into the cassette tray. A limiter is placed inside the cabinet that prevents the cassette tray from sliding when engaged. If one of the cassettes is forcibly removed, the insert pin will shear the fiber internal to the cassette and destroy the cassette, thereby disabling the network and typically alerting a network administrator or designated individual.

The invention is a collapsible structure comprising a plurality of panel elements, each having a coilable frame element and flexible material attached to the frame element. The panel elements are joined to define an enclosure having a roof portion and a bottom perimeter. The bottom perimeter rests on a supporting surface. The structure has at least one roof support rod having a first end and a second end. The first end of the at least one roof support rod is attached to a first location on the bottom perimeter, and the second end of the at least one roof support rod is attached to a second location on the bottom perimeter. The at least one roof support rod is in supporting contact with the roof portion of the enclosure.

A collapsible frame for use in erecting tents, canopies and the like at outdoor venues includes a plurality of telescopic legs for providing vertical structural support, and a plurality of top corner joints each fixedly mounted upon a top end of a corresponding telescopic leg. A leg slider joint is adjustably mounted upon each telescopic leg for sliding along that telescopic leg. A truss pair of link members is mounted to a pair of top corner joints and to a corresponding pair of leg slider joints. The link members are mounted on adjacent pairs of telescopic legs for providing a scissors connector. Finally, a plurality of canopy support arms, each including a locking pivotal connector and each fixedly connected to a top corner joint and a corresponding leg slider joint, is employed for raising and lowering the collapsible frame as a stable unitary structure.

A novel, high-efficiency, extremely light-weight, inflatable refractive solar concentrator for space power is described. It consists of a flexible Fresnel lens, flexible sides, and a back surface, together enclosing a volume of space which can be filled with low pressure gas to deploy the concentrator on orbit. The back surface supports the energy receiver/converter located in the focal region of the Fresnel lens. The back surface can also serve as the waste heat radiator. Prior to deployment, the deflated flexible lens and sides are folded against the back surface to form a flat, low-volume package for efficient launch into space. The inflatable concentrator can be configured to provide either a line focus or a point focus of sunlight. The new inflatable concentrator approach will provide significant advantages over the prior art in two different space power areas: photovoltaic concentrator arrays and high-temperature solar thermal conversion systems. Photovoltaic concentrator arrays using the new inflatable lens will be much lighter than prior space concentrator arrays. In addition, for photovoltaic concentrator arrays, the new inflatable lens will eliminate the need for a fragile glass superstrate to support the lens, substantially improving robustness of the lens. Solar thermal concentrator arrays using the new inflatable lens will be much lighter than prior art space concentrators which used parabolic mirrors. In addition, for solar thermal applications in space, the new inflatable lens will eliminate the need for high surface accuracy, which has been a significant problem for prior art concentrators.

A collapsible canopy framework structure of a regular polygon comprises a plurality of supporting members and a center post, which are constituted as a column. A plurality of first frame assemblies comprises at least one frame unit with a pair of frames being pivoted in an X shape at their center to each other, in which the first frame assembly is mounted between the supporting member and the center post. The third frame assembly comprises at least one frame unit to be mounted between the supporting members to secure the gaps between the supporting members and provide a structural reinforcement to the upper portion of an overall structure. At least one flexible string is passed through the cross-points of the frame units of the first frame assembly on which a block nut structure is mounted and then fixed into the block nut structure to form a regular polygon of the supporting members and give a tension to the overall structure. The collapsible canopy framework structure can be set up against the upper and lateral loads, thereby preventing the twist of the collapsible canopy framework structure.

In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, an integrated air processing device comprises a housing defining an air inlet, an air outlet, and a pathway from the inlet to the outlet. An air decontamination section, an air conditioning section, and a heating section are provided along the pathway. A blower is also provided along the pathway, to drive air from the inlet to the outlet, along the pathway. In another example, an integrated air processing device comprises a housing as above, and an air conditioning section and a heating section along the pathway. An air decontamination section and/or a blower may also be provided along the pathway. In accordance with another embodiment, a portable isolation containment system comprises one or more portable containment enclosures coupled to the integrated air processing devices described above. Methods are disclosed, as well.

The invention is a portable, collapsible enclosure for protection from the elements in an outdoor environment. The tent-like enclosure is provided with one or more fabric coverings each bearing at least one color or camouflage pattern. The coverings are easily removable from the enclosure, and may be reversible, bearing one color or camouflage pattern on one side, and a different color or camouflage pattern on the reverse side. In this fashion, the same portable enclosure can be made to present a variety of appearances, depending on which covering is attached to the enclosure, and which side of the attached covering is exposed or outermost.

The present invention provides an impact resistant sheet material that helps provide exterior walls of a building with resistance to impacts so that the building structure can meet building standards, such as the Miami-Dade County Large Missile Impact Test, for resisting impacts in high wind areas. In one embodiment, sheet material comprises an impact resistant layer that attached to fibrous substrate. The impact resistant layer provides impact resistance to the sheet material so that a wall structure employing the sheet material is able to successfully withstand an impact from a projectile comprising a 9 pound, 7 foot two-by-four (“2×4”) traveling at a speed of at least 34 miles per hour. The impact resistant sheet material may comprise a moisture vapor permeable, water-impermeable barrier layer having a hydrohead of at least 55 cm and a moisture vapor transmission rate of at least 35 g/m²/day. Such a sheet material is particularly useful in barrier applications, such as a house wrap.
