Integrated mechanical handle with quick slide mechanism

A method of deploying a prosthesis includes engaging a hub assembly of a handle to a threaded outer surface of a slide shaft of the handle; rotating the hub assembly to cause axial translation of the hub assembly and a sheath coupled to the hub assembly to initiate deployment of the prosthesis; disengaging the hub assembly from the threaded outer surface by pivoting a thread tooth of the hub assembly out of threaded engagement with the threaded outer surface; and sliding the hub assembly on the slide shaft to further retract the sheath and complete deployment of the prosthesis.

Threat scoring system and method for intrusion detection security networks

Embodiments of the invention provide a security expert system (SES) that automates intrusion detection analysis and threat discovery that can use fuzzy logic and forward-chaining inference engines to approximate human reasoning process. Embodiments of the SES can analyze incoming security events and generate a threat rating that indicates the likelihood of an event or a series of events being a threat. In one embodiment, the threat rating is determined based on an attacker rating, a target rating, a valid rating, and, optionally, a negative rating. In one embodiment, the threat rating may be affected by a validation flag. The SES can analyze the criticality of assets and calibrate / recalibrate the severity of an attack accordingly to allow for triage. The asset criticality can have a user-defined value. This ability allows the SES to protect and defend critical network resources in a discriminating and selective manner if necessary (e.g., many attacks).

Integrated mechanical handle with quick slide mechanism

A method of deploying a prosthesis includes restraining the prosthesis within a distal end of a sheath. A slide ring of a handle is rotated to initiate retraction of the sheath. In this manner, the prosthesis is initially very gradually released. The slide ring is then slid to complete retraction of the sheath and to deploy the prosthesis. In this manner, the sheath is easily and quickly retracted thus rapidly completing deployment of the prosthesis. Rapid deployment of the prosthesis facilitates faster procedure times, thus minimizing the period of time during which blood flow is occluded.

Managed quality of service for users and applications over shared networks

Systems and methods are described for effectively managing the quality of service provided to subscribers in a shared network on a per-application, per-user basis. A system QoS proxy, sitting on a subscriber's computing device or on a web content server, captures network calls made by an application for a subscriber and uses locally stored quality profiles to determine if a request for high-quality communications should be made. If so, the QoS proxy requests QoS from a central application manager, which dedicates a high-quality communications session to the subscriber's application, and causes the subscriber to be billed appropriately.

System and method for obtaining, processing and evaluating patient information for diagnosing disease and selecting treatment

A computer-based system and method is disclosed which constructs medical histories by direct interactions between the patient and system that acquires pertinent and relevant medical information covering the complete life of a given patient. The system and method insure that a complete life long medical history is acquired from every patient interacting with the health care system. Once acquired, the facts of the patient's life long and family medical history are analyzed automatically by databases to generate a set of the most reasonable diagnostic possibilities (the differential diagnosis) for each medical problem identified and for each risk factor for disease that is uncovered in the historical database. Further, the automatically analyzed database of historical medical information is used as the search tool for bringing to bear, on the diagnosis and treatment of each medical problem identified in each patient, the entirety of medical knowledge that relates to and can be useful for the correct and efficient diagnosis and treatment of each of every patient's medical problems. This collection of information is analyzed to generate a final diagnosis and treatment regimen.
