The invention provides an optical image fusion system and method for an infrared unit and a night vision device. The system comprises a night vision device. A beam splitter including a first side surface and a second side surface that are opposite to each other is arranged obliquely at the upstream of the light path of the night vision device. Long-wave infrared light emitted by a target object is reflected by the first side surface and the reflected light passes through a first light converging device; near-infrared light of the target object passes through the first side surface and the second side surface successively and then enters the night vision device; the reflected light passes through the first light converging device and then the light is imaged at a photodetector; an electrical signal output by the photodetector is sent to a processing unit; the processing unit converts the electrical signal into an image signal; a display displays a visible light image of thermal imaging of the corresponding target object according to the image signal; the visible light image is converged by a second light converging device and then the converged light is reflected by the second side surface; and the reflected light enters the night vision device. The optical image fusion system has an advantage of point-to-point fusion.
