An LED down light replacement apparatus is disclosed for insertion into a recessed-light housing can, which includes an LED light source, a means for mounting said LED light source within the housing can, an LED driver circuit electrically connected to the LED light source, a heat sink in thermal contact with the LED light source, and means for removing heat generated by the LED light source. The means for removing heat generated by the LED light source can include a fan and/or ventilation holes in the top of the housing can.

A recessed light fixture having a rotation ring allowing rotation of a lamp mounted over the fixture frame aperture, the rotation ring easily rotatable on the frame and held in place by a ring clamp. The recessed light fixture rotation ring has a mechanical brake for locking the ring in place after positioning of the lamp. The ring also has a slip disc positioned between the surface of the frame and the ring to allow easy rotation. The housing of the fixture has junction boxes mounted on side walls which are hinged to the sidewalls of the housing and which swivel into the interior of the housing for ready access after installation through the aperture of the frame. An adjustable assembly for conveying heat away from a fixture. The adjustable assembly includes a sliding plate having a first side for mounting the fixture thereon and a curved surface opposite the first side. The adjustable assembly also includes a fixed heat sink having a mating surface adapted to allow the curved surface of the sliding plate to slide from a first position to a second position while maintaining a substantially flush contact between the curved surface of the sliding plate and the mating surface of the fixed heat sink. At least one fastener is also provided for securing the sliding plate to the fixed heat sink alternately in the first position or the second position.

At least one first light source type is mounted near the first optics area. A second light source type is mounted near the second optics area and the second light source type is mounted near the third optics areas, the second light source type having a light output level substantially lower than the light output level of the first light source type. A diffuser is configured to sealably mount to the light fixture housing so as to substantially seal an interior portion of the light fixture. A white LED illumination device can include a white LED that has unevenness in tone and is used as a light source. The white LED illumination device can emit white light with high color rendering properties without unevenness in tone and can include the above noted white LED located adjacent an optical lens. The white LED and optical lens can be arranged so that the optical axes of both are substantially aligned with each other. A lighting fixture comprising a reflector 100 and a double-ended elongate lamp 200, the reflector body comprising a casing (110) with a specular cavity having an apex and an aperture rim, wherein the lamp end portions (220, 220′) of the double-ended lamp are enclosed in slots (131, 131′) located in the casing at opposite sides of the aperture rim and substantially flush with the aperture rim, is extremely flat and slim and therefore useful as a recessed down-light in a shelf, a ceiling, or a wall panel.

A recessed light fixture includes a thermally protected light emitting diode (“LED”) module. The thermally protected LED module includes a thermal protector positioned in series between a source of electrical power and an LED driver and is configured to open a circuit to prevent power from being supplied by the power source to the LED driver for an LED package when a thermal rating or activation temperature of the thermal protector is exceeded. For example, the maximum operating temperature of the LED driver may be 90 degrees Celsius, and the thermal rating of the thermal protector may be 80 degrees Celsius, and when the temperature of the driver or a mounting bracket upon which the driver is mounted reaches 80 degrees Celsius, the thermal protector opens a circuit and removes current flow from the power source to the driver, thereby removing power to the LED package.

A recessed luminaire is described. The luminaire may include an aiming system allowing a rotation angle and/or a tilt angle of a light source to be adjusted while the light source is in operation. Additionally, the luminaire includes a light shield that is coupled to the aiming system such that the light shield may move in relation to the tilt angle and the orientation of the light source. The aiming system may be further coupled to a support panel such that rotation of the aiming system is provided by a rotatable coupling between one or more leaf Springs of the aiming system, and an upper surface of the support panel.

A housing for a recessed light fixture for installation into a passenger compartment of a vehicle includes a composite trim assembly. The composite trim assembly includes a spacer and a trim member. The spacer operably engages the housing of the light fixture and the trim member is connected to the spacer. The spacer aligns the trim member with the housing such that the trim member does not contact the housing. Consequently, the trim member, which is exposed to the passenger compartment upon installation, maintains a lower temperature than the housing to which it is connected.

A universal trim piece for a recessed light includes a mounting side disposed toward a ceiling and having an aperture sized to conform with a dimension of an open side of a housing for a recessed light. A decorative side is disposed opposite the mounting side and a universal engagement member, disposed on the mounting side, removably engages a trim ring on the recessed light and secure the universal trim piece to the housing and proximate to the ceiling.

The present invention is an adjustable hanger bar assembly for a light fixture. The assembly maintains structural integrity between first and second bars to support a recessed light fixture while being extended to distances where typical mounting assemblies fail. The hanger bar assembly comprises first and second bars which slidably engage one another. One of the first and second bars comprises a foldable foot which may be extended to increase the length of the hanger bar assembly.

A hanger bar for supporting a recessed light fixture is attachable to ceiling joists or a T--bar grid of a drop down ceiling. First and second bars of the hanger bar slide and telescope. First and second spring clips are detachably coupled to the brackets at the ends of the first and second bars, respectively. Each of the first and second clips has a pair of downwardly extending arms bent inwardly toward one another, a first leg extending from a first arm, a second leg extending from a second arm, and an outwardly-extending foot on the second leg. The spring clips snap on to the T-bar grid. Each bracket includes a nail that is angled away from the hanger bar and downward so that the nail head is below the level of the hanger bar. The angled nails enable easy hammer strikes to attach the hanger bar to ceiling joists without accidental hammer blows to the hanger bar. The bracket may be discrete from the hanger bar but attached via tox clinching or a tab pass-through attachment.

A recessed light fixture and methods for manufacturing the same are disclosed. Embodiments include a support base and an adjusting bracket pivotally connected to the support base, the support base capable of pivoting between a first pivot position and a second pivot position to facilitate a user moving the adjusting bracket. When a lighting source is connected to the adjusting bracket, a user is able to move the lighting source and bracket aside to facilitate the user accessing the region behind the lighting source and bracket, which can include a power supply box and door. In at least one embodiment, a single-blade bracket extends perpendicularly from the support base while in the first pivot position and does not extend perpendicularly from the support base while in the second pivot position.
