An office chair includes a seat and a backrest that are pivotally connected together at a pivot axis such that the backrest can pivot with respect to the seat between an upright position and a reclining position. The seat is mounted on a base such that the seat can move with respect to a base, and the seat includes front and rear portions that can pivot with respect to one another. When the backrest is pivoted from the upright position to the reclining position, both of the seat and the pivot axis move forward with respect to said base, and the seat front portion flexes with respect to the seat rear portion such that the angle between said upward faces of said seat front portion and the seat rear portion increases. The backrest may also include an upper portion and a lower portion that can pivot with respect to one another. When the backrest is moved to the recline position, the angle between the forward faces of the upper and lower backrest portions decreases.

A self-adjusting wrench having a handle and a jaw member rotationally attached thereto. A smoothly curved handle face opposes a planar face on the jaw member which adjusts for distance from the curved handle face by following a generally circular path around a pinned attachment of the jaw member to the handle. A spring or similar biasing device continuously urges the jaw member toward the handle thereby making the device self adjusting to the size of the object placed between the jaw member and the curved handle surface.

Median Barrier Cable Termination

A cable termination and method of terminating a median barrier cable is described. In one form, the cable termination comprises a tubular body with an opening into which an end of the median barrier cable is inserted. A wedge gripper includes three sections for gripping the end of the median barrier cable within the tubular body. The wedge gripper has a tapering outer surface that mates with a tapered inner surface of the tubular body and has a toothed inner diameter. A threaded cap is screwed to an end of the tubular body opposite from the cable opening, such that the threaded cap forces the tapering outer surface of the wedge gripper axially against the tapered inner surface of the tubular body to force the toothed inner diameter of the wedge gripper to contract against three lobes of the median barrier cable to grip the median barrier cable.

Electrical contactor

An electrical contactor has a pair of first terminals and a pair of second terminals. Each first terminal has a fixed member with at least one fixed electrical contact facing the other fixed member. The second terminals having back-to-back electrically-conductive movable arms with an electrically-insulating partitioning element there between. Each second terminal is associated with a different one of the first terminals, and has a movable electrical contact on the associated movable arm which faces the corresponding fixed contact. When the contacts close, contra-flowing current through the back-to-back movable arms produces a repulsive force between the movable arms increasing a force between the fixed and movable contacts.

Power drive mechanism for a motor vehicle liftgate having a disengageable gear train

A power drive mechanism (10) for a motor vehicle liftgate includes a linking arm (18) pivotally connected with the liftgate, a crank arm (12) drivable for pivotal movement and connected with the linking arm (18), and a gear train (20) operatively engaging the crank arm (12). A drive motor (34) is operatively connected with the crank arm (12) through the gear train (20) to provide power assisted opening and closing of the liftgate. The gear train (20) is disengagable from the drive motor (34) to permit manual opening and closing of the liftgate without backdriving the drive motor (34). An actuator (74) is operatively connected with the gear train (20) to move the gear train into and out of engagement with the drive motor. A holding linkage (60, 62) is operatively associated with the gear train (20) to maintain the gear train (20) in engagement during power assisted opening and closing of the liftgate.

Thermostatic mixing valve

A thermostatic mixing valve 10 including a valve body 11 having a first fluid 12 inlet, a second fluid inlet 13 and a mixed fluid outlet 14, a mixing chamber 16 located between the respective fluid inlets 12,13 and the fluid outlet 14. A thermostatic element 15 is located for exposure to mixed fluid and a piston 17 is arranged for movement within the valve body in response to expansion or contraction of the thermostatic element 15. The piston 17 throttles flow of fluid through the first fluid inlet 12 into the mixing chamber 16 by varying its position relative to a first seat 33, and through the second fluid inlet 13 into the mixing chamber 16 by varying its position relative to a second seat formed as a bore 35 into which the piston 17 can progressively enter. Progression of the piston 17 into the bore 35 initially results in a substantial throttling of the flow of fluid from the second fluid inlet 13 into the mixing chamber 16, while further progression results in engagement between the piston 17 and the second seat 35 to terminate the flow of fluid from the second fluid inlet 13 into the mixing chamber 16.

The agitators are housed within an agitator chamber which includes a downwardly-directed opening through which debris energized by the bristles enters the cleaner head. The opening is located in a plane, and each body is inclined relative to the plane of the opening so that, with rotation of the agitator, the bristles protrude through the opening. The bristles of the first agitator are angularly offset from the bristles of the second agitator.

Roller skate

A roller skate having enhanced durability and stability is disclosed. Furthermore, the roller skate is particularly adapted for affixing to a person's footwear, such as sneakers, boots or the like. The skate includes a platform for supporting a skater's foot. The platform includes a toe plate and heel plate connected by an adjustable connecting assembly. A front truck is affixed to the underside of the toe plate, while a rear truck is affixed to the underside of the heel plate. The front truck includes simple bracket arms for affixing a single front wheel which is capable of rotating, but not capable of tilting about the platform's longitudinal axis. Meanwhile, the rear wheel truck is mounted to the underside of the heel plate so as to permit both tilting movement about an inclined longitudinal axis, and also rotation about a transverse axis relative to the roller skate's platform. Preferably, the roller skate includes three wheels rotatably mounted to the rear wheel truck. A button projects upwardly from the roller skate's heel plate so as to engage a skater's heel when it is placed upon the roller skate's platform. The button is connected to the roller skate's connecting assembly so that depression of the button causes the platform to unlock from an extending condition to allow the skate to automatically contract to capture a skater's foot. Preferably, the skate's toe plates and heel plates include prongs for projecting into and affixing to a skater's shoe.
