2050 results about "Nest" patented technology

A nest is a structure built by certain animals to hold eggs, offspring, and, occasionally, the animal itself. Although nests are most closely associated with birds, members of all classes of vertebrates and some invertebrates construct nests. They may be composed of organic material such as twigs, grass, and leaves, or may be a simple depression in the ground, or a hole in a rock, tree, or building. Human-made materials, such as string, plastic, cloth, or paper, may also be used. Nests can be found in all types of habitat.

Flexible device shaft with angled spiral wrap

ActiveUS7579550B2Reduces inadvertent axial elongationGood flexibilitySurgeryEndoscopesSpiral woundEngineering
Spiral-wound materials, spirals, and shafts made therefrom that have wraps with edges that may nest within one another are described. Such edges allow the spiral to achieve a smaller bending radius, meaning tighter turns and more flexibility due to the ability of adjacent wraps to nest within each other when the shaft is bent. Spirals having wraps with edges capable of nesting can be used in the medical field for devices that track anatomy, such as endoscopes, colonoscopes, catheters, and the like.

Distribution Data Structures for Locality-Guided Work Stealing

ActiveUS20100031267A1Keep localProvide load balancingResource allocationMemory systemsLocality of referenceLanguage construct
A data structure, the distribution, may be provided to track the desired and / or actual location of computations and data that range over a multidimensional rectangular index space in a parallel computing system. Examples of such iteration spaces include multidimensional arrays and counted loop nests. These distribution data structures may be used in conjunction with locality-guided work stealing and may provide a structured way to track load balancing decisions so they can be reproduced in related computations, thus maintaining locality of reference. They may allow computations to be tied to array layout, and may allow iteration over subspaces of an index space in a manner consistent with the layout of the space itself. Distributions may provide a mechanism to describe computations in a manner that is oblivious to precise machine size or structure. Programming language constructs and / or library functions may support the implementation and use of these distribution data structures.

Method of fabricating a rat's nest RFID antenna

A method of fabricating a rat's nest radio frequency identification (RFID) antenna is disclosed. The antennas are fabricated on a substrate that includes already fabricated RFID chips. The antennas can be loop antennas. An antenna is connected to a RFID chip in an assembly order and a RFID tag including the antenna and the RFID Chip is removed from a carrier substrate connected with the substrate in a disassembly order. The assembly order and the disassembly order prevent the overlapping antennas from being damaged or entangled upon disassembly. The antenna can be substantially larger than the RFID chip it is connected with and the resulting RFID tag can have a small size and small cost with the enhanced performance of a larger antenna without having to resort to a large off-chip external antenna or a large on-chip antenna that would increase chip area and cost.

Compiler method for extracting and accelerator template program

This invention describes a compilation method of extracting and implementing an accelerator control program from an application source code in a processor based system. The application source code comprises arrays and loops. The input application source code is sequential, with loop, branch and call control structures, while the generated output of this invention has parallel execution semantics. The compilation method comprises the step of performing loop nest analysis, transformations and backend processes. The step of loop nest analysis consists of dependence analysis and pointer analysis. Dependence analysis determines the conflicts between the various references to arrays in the loop, and pointer analysis determines if two pointer references in a loop are in conflict. Transformations convert the loops from their original sequential execution semantics to parallel execution semantics. The back-end process determines the parameters and memory map of the accelerator and the hardware dependent software.

Measurement marker

A tape measure marker device is attachable to a common tape measure blade. The marker device has a central body portion with a pair of downwardly depending legs, each with an inwardly facing flange that helps hold the marker device to the tape measure blade. The ends of the facing flanges are spaced apart and together with the underside of the two legs and the central body portion form an open cavity that is configured to receive a common tape measure blade. The convex underside of the central body portion is adapted to nest with the top face of the tape measure blade. In operation, the marker device is manually slid along the tape measure blade until a registration mark, which may be printed, embossed or engraved on the surface of the device, aligns with a point that is to be measured. The coplanar underside of the flanges on the device allows the marker device and the tape measure blade to lie directly against a device that is to be measured. In a preferred embodiment the marker device is constructed of a resilient transparent or translucent resilient so that the graduated indicia markings on the measuring tape can be seen through the device, and so that the legs of the device can temporarily be manually spread apart wide enough for insertion of the tape measure blade.

Automated storage and retrieval apparatus for freezers and related method thereof

An automated cold storage apparatus, and related method thereof, provides a sample process management system that is a revolutionary approach to the storage and retrieval regarding critical samples. The system—a significant technological breakthrough in laboratory automation—is the first ultra low temperature robotic system capable of being validated. Samples in containers are stored and retrieved robotically through an airlock climate-control chamber that is automatically dehumidified by a dry gas purge, such as a carbon dioxide or nitrogen purge or the like. This purge rapidly reduces ambient humidity to a desirable relative humidity (RH), e.g., less than about 15% RH, virtually eliminating the accumulation of frost. Microplates are systematically identified using barcode technology, for example. Once through the climate-controlled chamber, the containers (i.e., samples) are robotically transferred to the rotary mechanism. This mechanism transports the containers to a derived nest location upon the storage means, such as a carousel or to one of the stationary addresses.
