Description

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

[0001] The present application claims priority to, and the benefit of, U.S. Provisional Application No. 63 / 671,814, which was filed on Jul. 16, 2024, and is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present invention relates generally to the field of toilet seats. More specifically, the present invention relates to a heated toilet seat for a portable toilet. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.BACKGROUND

[0003] Portable toilet units, commonly known as porta-potties, are widely utilized in a variety of outdoor locations where traditional restroom facilities are not available or practical. These units are a staple at events like outdoor concerts, festivals, sporting events, and fairs, as well as at hunting clubs, campgrounds, construction sites, and other remote or temporary locations. They provide an essential service, offering people a private and convenient space to use the bathroom while outdoors, ensuring proper sanitation in areas that otherwise lack such facilities. Despite their usefulness, portable toilets are not without their drawbacks, especially during cold weather.

[0004] One of the primary discomforts associated with porta-potties during cold months is the experience of sitting on a cold toilet seat. Most portable toilets are equipped with plastic seats, and plastic, as a material, tends to retain and amplify cold temperatures. When the weather is cold, these seats can become very uncomfortable to sit on, as the plastic becomes chilled, creating an unpleasant sensation for the user. This discomfort can be especially pronounced in regions with harsh winters or during early morning hours when the temperature is particularly low. The cold seat can create an unpleasant experience that may deter people from using the facilities as often as they might need to, or it can leave users feeling physically uncomfortable after doing so.

[0005] While some people attempt to alleviate the discomfort by placing a disposable seat cover, a layer of toilet paper, or other materials on the seat before sitting, these efforts usually provide minimal relief. These materials do very little to actually warm the seat, as they are thin and incapable of insulating against the cold of the plastic. In most cases, the cold from the seat still seeps through, and the overall experience remains uncomfortable. Users may find themselves reluctant to linger in these units any longer than necessary, and in extremely cold conditions, the discomfort can be enough to cause some people to avoid using the facilities altogether until absolutely necessary. The inability to effectively warm up the seat with traditional methods is a recurring issue for users, particularly in colder climates, and contributes to the overall negative perception of portable toilet experiences in cold weather.

[0006] Therefore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for an improved portable toilet seat. There also exists a long-felt need in the art for a heated seat device for portable toilets.
