BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Tables may be received by consumers in parts and require assembly. A traditional method of assembling a table includes placing a table surface such that the underside of the table surface is upward, individually affixing legs to the underside of the table surface, and thereafter inverting the table to be in a standing position such that the table surface is usable and supported by legs underneath. Such construction can be difficult and require multiple assemblers in order to invert the table, particularly for heavier applications. As such, a table configuration that provides greater ease of assembly, without the need for placing a table surface upside down and individually affixing legs is desirable.BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0003] The following presents a simplified summary of one or more embodiments of the present disclosure in order to provide a basic understanding of such embodiments. [0004] A table, according to one or more embodiments of the present invention, comprises at least one frame having a top end and a bottom end, and a flat top attached to the at least one frame at the top end of the at least one frame, the flat top having a working surface. The frame comprises a primary leg, two secondary legs, each of the secondary legs adjacent to the primary leg, and a plurality of support rails extending between the primary leg and each of the secondary legs, each of the plurality of support rails comprising a pivotable connection between the primary leg and each of the secondary legs. The secondary legs are configured to pivot with respect to the primary leg about the pivotable connection between the support rails and the primary leg.
[0005] In at least one embodiment, the primary leg and the two secondary legs have a first end and a second end, the first end of the primary leg defines the top end of the frame.

In other instances, well-known methods, procedures, and / or components have not been described in detail so as not to obscure the discussion.
[0027] The present disclosure describes a novel and advantageous table apparatus. The table apparatus includes at least one table frame and at least one table top. The table frame includes a primary leg and secondary legs. The secondary legs are connected to the primary leg via rails that allow the secondary legs to pivot about the primary leg. Thus, the table legs can be folded into a stowed position and unfolded into an expanded position by pivoting the secondary legs with respect to the primary leg. The table top includes fastener holes that can be positioned to line up with fastener holes in the table legs, and thereafter fastened. The table top can be positioned atop the table legs and fastened thereto. Thus, advantageously, the table apparatus can be assembled in a bottom-up manner, wherein the legs are unfolded and positioned, and the table top is placed atop the legs. In additional embodiments, the table apparatus can include multiple table frames positioned to allow for larger table tops or differently shaped table tops. Such configurations provide the same advantageous assembly.
[0028] FIGS. 1A-1D respectively show one embodiment of table 10. Table 10 includes table top 12 and table frame 13. Table top 12 includes fastener holes 26, top side 28, and bottom side 30 . Table top 12 can be any flat top surface with a thickness existing between top side 28 and bottom side 30. Table top 12 is depicted as substantially circular, however it is understood that any suitable shape of table top 12 (e.g., square, rectangular, elongated oval, etc.) can be used and is contemplated by this disclosure. Table top 12 can comprise any suitable material including wood, polymers, glass, or any other suitable material. Table frame 13 includes top end 32, bottom end 34, first leg 16, second leg 18, third leg 20, first rail 22 and second rail 24. First leg 16 is the primary leg, while second leg 18 and third leg 20 are secondary legs. While table frame 13 is depicted to have three legs, it is understood that any suitable number of legs can be included (e.g., three, four, five, or more than five). Table frame 13 can comprise wood, plastic, metal, or any other suitable material.

Table top 12 can be aligned such that fastener holes of table top 12 are aligned with corresponding fastener holes of first leg 16, second leg 18, and third leg 20. Table top 12 can then be fastened to table frame 13 by fasteners being inserted through top side 28 of table top 12 via fastener holes 26. The fasteners can thus extend through the thickness of table top 12, and into the fastener holes of first leg 16, second leg 18, and third leg 20.

Table 10 is constructed from the bottom up, relieving the need to place a table surface upside down, attach legs, and thereafter invert the assembled table, as in traditional table assembly applications. Rather, table 10 is assembled by first placing table frame 13 on a ground surface, or other suitable surface, then affixing table top 12 on top of table frame 13. Further, in a stowed position, table 10 provides space-saving benefits. As described, table frame 13 is stowable by pivoting second leg 18 and third leg 20 about first leg 16, such that table frame 13 can lie substantially flat. This allows for compact storage and shipping of table 10. Additionally, table top 12 is reversible, thereby allowing a user to have two usable table surfaces (top side 28 and bottom side 30).

Table frame 213a includes top end 232a, bottom end 234a, first leg 216a, second leg 218a, third leg 220a, first rail 222a and second rail 224a. Table frame 213b includes top end 232b, bottom end 234b, first leg 216b, second leg 218b, third leg 220b, first rail 222b and second rail 224b. While table frames 213a and 213b are depicted as having three legs, it is understood that any suitable number of legs can be included (e.g., three, four, five, or more than five). Table frame 213 can comprise wood, plastic, metal, or any other suitable material.

Claims
1. A table comprising:at least one frame having a top end and a bottom end, the frame comprising;a primary leg;two secondary legs, each of the secondary legs adjacent to the primary leg; anda plurality of support rails extending between the primary leg and each of the secondary legs, each of the plurality of support rails comprising a pivotable connection between the primary leg and each of the secondary legs;wherein the secondary legs are configured to pivot with respect to the primary leg about the pivotable connection between the support rails and the primary leg;a flat top attached to the at least one frame at the top end of the at least one frame, the at least one flat top having a working surface.
2. The table of claim 1, each of the primary leg and the two secondary legs has a first end and a second end, the first end of the primary leg defines the top end of the frame.
3. The table of claim 1, wherein the plurality of support rails comprise a first support rail extending from the primary leg to a first adjacent secondary leg and a second support rail extending from the primary leg to a second adjacent secondary leg.
4. The table of claim 3, wherein the first support rail is positioned between the second support rail and the first end of primary leg.
5. The table of claim 1, wherein the flat top comprises a plurality of fastener holes.
6. The table of claim 5, further comprising a plurality of fasteners positioned within the fastener holes, each fastener connecting the flat top to one of the primary leg and the secondary legs.
7. The table of claim 6, further comprising a plurality of washers positioned within the fastener holes and configured to expand upon the application of torque to the plurality of fasteners within the fastener holes.
8. The table of claim 7, wherein the plurality of washers comprise a rubber material.
9. The table of claim 5, wherein the flat top comprises a first table face on a first side of the table surface and a second table face on a second side of the table surface, wherein the fastener holes extend from the first table face to the second table face, and wherein the working surface of the flat top is interchangeable between the first table face and the second table face.
10. The table of claim 1, wherein the flat top is substantially circular.
11. The table of claim 1, further comprising two frames.
12. The table of claim 11, wherein the two table frames are positioned adjacent to one another such that the two table frames contact one another.
13. The table of claim 11, wherein the two table frames are positioned apart from one another such that a gap of a first distance exists between the primary leg of each of the two table frames.
14. The table of claim 13, wherein the flat top is an elongated oval.
15. A method for assembling a table, the method comprising:expanding at least one frame from a stowed position to an expanded position, the frame comprising a primary leg and at least two secondary legs extending from a bottom end of the frame to a top end of the frame, the at least two secondary legs pivotably coupled to the primary leg via a plurality of support rails;positioning a table top at the top end of the frame, the table top comprising a plurality of fastener holes; andaffixing the table top to the table frame at the top end of the frame via a plurality of fasteners.
16. The method of claim 15, wherein the table top is affixed to the table frame via fastening the primary leg and each of the one or more secondary legs to the table top.
17. The method of claim 16, further comprising:positioning a plurality of elastomeric washers within the fastener holes , the plurality of elastomeric washers configured to expand in response to a torque being applied the plurality of fasteners.
18. The method of claim 16, wherein the at least one frame comprises a first frame and a second frame.
19. The method of claim 18, further comprising:positioning the first frame and the second frame such that the secondary legs of the second frame are adjacent to the secondary legs of the first frame.
20. The method of claim 18, further comprising:positioning the first frame apart from the second frame such that a gap of a first distance exists between the primary leg of the first frame and the primary leg of the second frame.
