AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

In 5G new radio (NR) systems, the allocation of limited time duration for uplink in Time Division Duplexing (TDD) leads to reduced coverage, increased latency, and reduced capacity, necessitating improved configuration of control resource sets (CORESET) in sub-band non-overlapping full duplex (SBFD) scenarios.

Method used

A method where a network device transmits a configuration of a CORESET to a terminal device, allowing the device to determine if the CORESET is within an SBFD time period and monitor the physical downlink control channel accordingly, enhancing CORESET flexibility and adaptability in SBFD scenarios.

Benefits of technology

This approach improves CORESET resource utilization and adaptability in SBFD scenarios, addressing the limitations of traditional TDD configurations by enabling more efficient simultaneous downlink and uplink transmissions.

[0032] As used herein, “at least one of the following: <a list of two or more elements> ”  and “at least one of <a list of two or more elements> ” and similar wording, where the list of two or more elements are joined by “and” or “or” , mean at least any one of the elements, or at least any two or more of the elements, or at least all the elements.

[0033] As used herein, unless stated explicitly, performing a step “in response to A” does not indicate that the step is performed immediately after “A” occurs and one or more intervening steps may be included.

[0034] The terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting of example embodiments. As used herein, the singular forms “a” , “an” and “the” are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. It will be further understood that the terms “comprises” , “comprising” , “has” , “having” , “includes” and / or “including” , when used herein, specify the presence of stated features, elements, and / or components etc., but do not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, elements, components and / or combinations thereof.

[0035] As used in this application, the term “circuitry” may refer to one or more or all of the following:

[0036] (a) hardware-only circuit implementations (such as implementations in only analog and / or digital circuitry) and

[0037] (b) combinations of hardware circuits and software, such as (as applicable) :

[0038] (i) a combination of analog and / or digital hardware circuit (s) with software / firmware and

[0039] (ii) any portions of hardware processor (s) with software (including digital signal processor (s) ) , software, and memory (ies) that work together to cause an apparatus, such as a mobile phone or server, to perform various functions) and

[0040] (c) hardware circuit (s) and or processor (s) , such as a microprocessor (s) or a portion of a microprocessor (s) , that requires software (e.g., firmware) for operation, but the software may not be present when it is not needed for operation.

[0041] This definition of circuitry applies to all uses of this term in this application,  including in any claims. As a further example, as used in this application, the term circuitry also covers an implementation of merely a hardware circuit or processor (or multiple processors) or portion of a hardware circuit or processor and its (or their) accompanying software and / or firmware. The term circuitry also covers, for example and if applicable to the particular claim element, a baseband integrated circuit or processor integrated circuit for a mobile device or a similar integrated circuit in server, a cellular network device, or other computing or network device.

[0042] As used herein, the term “communication network” refers to a network following any suitable communication standards, such as New Radio (NR) , Long Term Evolution (LTE) , LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) , Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) , High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) , Narrow Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) and so on. Furthermore, the communications between a terminal device and a network device in the communication network may be performed according to any suitable generation communication protocols, including, but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, and / or any other protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Embodiments of the present disclosure may be applied in various communication systems. Given the rapid development in communications, there will of course also be future type communication technologies and systems with which the present disclosure may be embodied. It should not be seen as limiting the scope of the present disclosure to only the aforementioned system.

[0043] As used herein, the term “network device” or “network access device” refers to a node in a communication network via which a terminal device accesses the network and receives services therefrom. The network device may refer to a base station (BS) or an access point (AP) , for example, a node B (NodeB or NB) , an evolved NodeB (eNodeB or eNB) , an NR NB (also referred to as a gNB) , a Remote Radio Unit (RRU) , a radio header (RH) , a remote radio head (RRH) , a relay, an Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) node, a low power node such as a femto, a pico, a non-terrestrial network (NTN) or non-ground network device such as a satellite network device, a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite and a geosynchronous earth orbit (GEO) satellite, an aircraft network device, and so forth, depending on the applied terminology and technology. In some example embodiments, radio access network (RAN) split architecture comprises a Centralized Unit (CU) and a Distributed Unit (DU) at an IAB donor node. An IAB node comprises a Mobile Terminal  (IAB-MT) part that behaves like a UE toward the parent node, and a DU part of an IAB node behaves like a base station toward the next-hop IAB node.

[0044] The term “terminal device” refers to any end device that may be capable of wireless communication. By way of example rather than limitation, a terminal device may also be referred to as a communication device, user equipment (UE) , a Subscriber Station (SS) , a Portable Subscriber Station, a Mobile Station (MS) , or an Access Terminal (AT) . The terminal device may include, but not limited to, a mobile phone, a cellular phone, a smart phone, voice over IP (VoIP) phones, wireless local loop phones, a tablet, a wearable terminal device, a personal digital assistant (PDA) , portable computers, desktop computer, image capture terminal devices such as digital cameras, gaming terminal devices, music storage and playback appliances, vehicle-mounted wireless terminal devices, wireless endpoints, mobile stations, laptop-embedded equipment (LEE) , laptop-mounted equipment (LME) , USB dongles, smart devices, wireless customer-premises equipment (CPE) , an Internet of Things (IoT) device, a watch or other wearable, a head-mounted display (HMD) , a vehicle, a drone, a medical device and applications (e.g., remote surgery) , an industrial device and applications (e.g., a robot and / or other wireless devices operating in an industrial and / or an automated processing chain contexts) , a consumer electronics device, a device operating on commercial and / or industrial wireless networks, and the like. The terminal device may also correspond to a Mobile Termination (MT) part of an IAB node (e.g., a relay node) . In the following description, the terms “terminal device” , “communication device” , “terminal” , “user equipment” and “UE” may be used interchangeably.

[0045] As used herein, the term “resource, ” “transmission resource, ” “resource block, ” “physical resource block” (PRB) , “uplink resource, ” or “downlink resource” may refer to any resource for performing a communication, for example, a communication between a terminal device and a network device, such as a resource in time domain, a resource in frequency domain, a resource in space domain, a resource in code domain, or any other resource enabling a communication, and the like. In the following, unless explicitly stated, a resource in both frequency domain and time domain will be used as an example of a transmission resource for describing some example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that example embodiments of the present disclosure are equally applicable to other resources in other domains.

[0046] As briefly mentioned above, various duplexing modes such as FDD and TDD  are supported in the communication networks. In TDD, the time domain resource is split between downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) . Allocation of a limited time duration for the uplink in TDD may result in reduced coverage, increased latency, and reduced capacity. To address these challenges, SBFD such as simultaneous DL and UL transmission on different physical resource blocks (PRBs) or sub-bands within an unpaired wideband NR cell is proposed. As used herein, the term “SBFD” may also be referred to as cross division duplexing (xDD) or flexible division duplexing (FDU) .

[0047] Several mechanisms for configuring the CORESET have been proposed. In a mechanism, it is proposed to use separate valid resources for the CORESET in SBFD symbols and in non-SBFD symbols. In another mechanism, rate matching or puncturing on the resource-element group (s) (REG) (s) of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) outside DL sub-band (s) is proposed. In a further mechanism, it is proposed that the UE does not monitor a PDCCH candidate if it is mapped to one or more resource elements (REs) that overlap with REs outside DL sub-band (s) . In a still further mechanism, it is proposed to drop search space (s) when the associated CORESET overlaps with RBs outside DL sub-band (s) . In a yet further mechanism, separate search spaces associated with a CORESET in SBFD and non-SBFD symbols are proposed. However, the CORESET in SBFD stills need to be further improved.

[0048] In some mechanisms, the configuration of the CORESET is provided by frequencyDomainResources and a rb-Offset. The frequencyDomainResources may be a 45 bits field, where the bits of the bitmap have a one-to-one mapping with non-overlapping groups of 6 consecutive PRBs. If the offset rb-Offset is not configured, the 6 consecutive PRBs in ascending order of the PRB index in the DL bandwidth part (BWP) bandwidth of PRBs are with starting common RB position where the first common RB of the first group of 6 PRBs has common RB index. The rb-Offset indicates the RB level offset in units of RB from the first RB of the first 6RB group to the first RB of BWP. If the bit value of frequencyDomainResources is set to 1 it indicates that the RB group belongs in frequency domain resources of the CORESET. Bits corresponding to a group of RB’s not fully contained in the BWP within which the CORESET is configured are set to zero.

[0049] However, with such CORESET resource configuration, the configuration of an UL sub-band in an edge or a center of a carrier may lead to poor utilization of the resources. For example, the discontinuous CORESET in SBFD may lead to wasted resources and  control insufficient resources.

[0050] In order to solve at least part of the above problems or other potential problems, a solution on configuration of CORESET in SBFD is proposed. According to example embodiments, a second apparatus (for example, a network device) transmits, to a first apparatus (for example, a terminal device) , a configuration of a CORESET in a SBFD time period. The first apparatus determines whether a CORESET for a PDCCH is in a SBFD time period. If the first apparatus determines that the CORESET for PDCCH is in the SBFD time period, the first apparatus monitors the PDCCH in the SBFD time period based on the first configuration of the control resource set.

[0051] In this manner, a new CORESET configuration for SBFD slot is applied. In this way, the network can make the CORESET more flexible and more adaptable to SBFD scenarios.

[0052] Principle and implementations of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to FIGS. 1-9. FIG. 1 illustrates an example communication environment 100 in which example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. In the communication environment 100, a plurality of communication apparatuses, including a first apparatus 110 and a second apparatus 120, can communicate with each other.

[0053] The communication environment 100 may support various of duplexing modes, such as FDD and TDD. In some example embodiments, SBFD may be supported by the first apparatus 110 and the second apparatus 120.

[0054] In some example embodiments, if the first apparatus 110 is a terminal device and the second apparatus 120 is a network device serving the terminal device, a link from the second apparatus 120 to the first apparatus 110 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , while a link from the first apparatus 110 to the second apparatus 120 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the second apparatus 120 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the first apparatus 110 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In UL, the first apparatus 110 is a TX device (or a transmitter) and the second apparatus 120 is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0055] It is to be understood that the number of apparatuses and their connections shown in FIG. 1 are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The  communication environment 100 may include any suitable number of apparatuses configured to implementing example embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0056] In the following, for purpose of illustration, some example embodiments are described with the first apparatus 110 operating as a terminal device and the second apparatus 120 operating as a network device. However, in some example embodiments, operations described in connection with a terminal device may be implemented at a network device or other device, and operations described in connection with a network device may be implemented at a terminal device or other device.

[0057] Communications in the communication environment 100 may be implemented according to any proper communication protocol (s) , comprising, but not limited to, cellular communication protocols of the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , the fifth generation (5G) , the sixth generation (6G) , and the like, wireless local network communication protocols such as Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 and the like, and / or any other protocols currently known or to be developed in the future. Moreover, the communication may utilize any proper wireless communication technology, comprising but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) , Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) , Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) , Time Division Duplex (TDD) , Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) , Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple (OFDM) , Discrete Fourier Transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and / or any other technologies currently known or to be developed in the future.

[0058] As discussed, various of duplexing modes, such as FDD and TDD are supported. FIG. 2A illustrates an example diagram 210 of frequency-time resource partitioning for FDD. As illustrated, the resources for the DL transmission and UL transmission may be partitioned by frequency. That is, the DL transmission and UL transmission use resources in different frequency sub-bands.

[0059] FIG. 2B illustrates an example diagram 230 of frequency-time resource partitioning for TDD. As illustrated, the resources for the DL transmission and UL transmission may be partitioned by time. That is, the DL transmission and UL transmission use resources corresponding to different time slots.

[0060] FIG. 2C illustrates an example diagram 250 of frequency-time resource  partitioning for SBFD. As illustrated, in SBFD, simultaneous DL and UL transmission on different PRBs or sub-bands are supported. Each sub-band for DL transmission is not overlapped with a sub-band for UL transmission.

[0061] In some example embodiments, a plurality of time slots supporting SBFD may be divided into two slot types, that is an SBFD slot type and a non-SBFD slot type. As used herein, the term “SBFD slot” refers to a slot during which the non-overlapping DL sub-band (s) and UL sub-band (s) both exist. As used herein, the term “non-SBFD slot” refers to a slot during which the entire band is used for either DL or UL. The non-SBFD slot may be also referred to as a legacy slot or a full DL / UL slot. FIG. 3A illustrates an example diagram 300 showing a plurality of slots, including SBFD slot (s) 320, and non-SBFD slots 310 and 330.

[0062] In some example embodiments, several SBFD operation modes have been studied including whether time and frequency locations of sub-bands for SBFD operation are known to the SBFD-aware UE or not. In some example embodiments, at least the operation mode with time and frequency locations of sub-bands for SBFD operation being known to the SBFD-aware UE is prioritized. This means that SBFD slots may be known by the (SBFD-aware) UE in one way or another. Such information may be added for completeness.

[0063] As briefly mentioned, in some mechanisms, the configuration of the CORESET may be provided by frequencyDomainResources and a rb-Offset. With such configuration, the CORESET may be expected to be, for each symbol in which the CORESET is defined, a multiple of resource block (RB) groups. Each RB group consists of 6 RBs.

[0064] In some mechanisms, a mapping procedure is configured. For example, the UE may be provided with a bitmap of frequencyDomainResources. Each bit of the bitmap setting to 1 implies that those 6 PRBs are used in every symbol for PDCCH resources. In some mechanisms, the 6 PRBs per bit of the bitmap is hard coded.

[0065] FIG. 3B illustrates an example diagram 340 of CORESET remapping based on the mapping procedure. In the illustrated example, frequencyDomainResources may be “1100” , and the duration may be configured as two symbols. In such example case, control-channel element (CCE) n (n being an integer greater than or equal to 0) may be a group of resource-element group (REG) 6n to REG 6n+5, that is CCE n = {REG 6n, REG 6n+1, …, REG 6n+5} .

[0066] FIG. 3C illustrates an example diagram 350 of CORESET bitmap. With the CORESET bitmap, SBFD DL UL DL (DUD) structure is configured. In the SBFD DUD structure, a BWP 360 is configured from common resource block (CRB) 15 to CRB 61. As illustrated, there are total 27 RBs in two DL sub-bands, but only one CORESET REG consisting of 6 RBs may be used. That is, [15-26] RBs and [51-56] RBs (total 18 RBs) may be enabled for the CORESET in this case.

[0067] Assuming that rb-offset is 3, due to CORESET frequencyDomainResources bitmap needs to align with CRB multiply 6 with rb-offset = 3, it will waste 9RB resources for PDCCH. For example, the frequencyDomainResources bitmap requirements are [15-20], [21-26] , [27-32] , [45-50] , [51-56] , [57-62] in this case. The wasted resources are [27, 28, 49, 50, 57-61] RBs, none of them meets the frequencyDomainResources bitmap requirements.

[0068] In order to solve at least part of the above problems or other potential problems, according to the present solution on configuration of CORESET in SBFD, a second apparatus (for example, a network device) transmits, to a first apparatus (for example, a terminal device) , a configuration of a CORESET in a SBFD time period. In this manner, a new CORESET configuration for SBFD slot is applied. In this way, the network can make the CORESET more flexible and more adaptable to SBFD scenarios.

[0069] FIG. 4 illustrates a signaling diagram 400 for configuration of CORESET in SBFD according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. The signaling diagram 400 involves the first apparatus 110 and the second apparatus 120 in FIG. 1. For purpose of illustration, the signaling diagram 400 will be described with respect to FIG. 1. For purpose of discussion, some example embodiments are described where the first apparatus 110 is implemented as a terminal device and the second apparatus 120 is implemented as a network device. It is assumed that in the signaling diagram 400, an SBFD mode is enabled or initiated.

[0070] As shown in FIG. 4, the second apparatus 120 determines (450) a first configuration of a CORESET in a SBFD time period. In one example, the first  configuration may indicate a resource size of the CORESET. The resource size of the CORESET indicates the number of continuous PRBs for the CORESET. In another example, the first configuration may indicate at least one resource bitmap of the CORESET. The at least one resource bitmap may indicate a number of continuous PRBs enabled for the CORESET. In a further example, the first configuration may indicate an index of a starting PRB for the CORESET. In a still further example, the first configuration may indicate an offset of resource blocks (RBs) for the CORESET.

[0071] Several examples regarding the first configuration have been described. These example of first configuration will be described in detail with respect to FIG. 5A and FIG. 5B. In some example embodiments, the first configuration may include one or more of the above example information. The first configuration may further include other information regarding the CORESET not mentioned above. Scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0072] The second apparatus 120 transmits (460) the first configuration to the first apparatus 110. For example, the first configuration may be transmitted (460) via radio resource control (RRC) , system information block (SIB) or any other suitable signaling. The first apparatus 110 receives (470) the first configuration.

[0073] The first apparatus 110 determines (480) whether a CORESET for PDCCH is in a SBFD time period. If the first apparatus 110 determines (480) that the CORESET for PDCCH is in the SBFD time period such as an SBFD BWP, the first apparatus 110 monitors (490) based on the first configuration of the CORESET, the PDCCH in the SBFD time period. As used herein, if a slot is in the SBFD time period, the slot may be referred to as an SBFD slot. If a slot is in the non-SBFD time period, the slot may be referred to as non-SBFD slot or normal slot. The first apparatus 110 may monitor (490) the SBFD slot based on the first configuration.

[0074] Otherwise, in some example embodiments, if the first apparatus 110 determines (480) that the CORESET for PDCCH is a non-SBFD time period such as a non-SBFD BWP, the first apparatus 110 may apply a configuration for CORESET different from the first configuration to monitor the PDCCH in the non-SBFD time period or the non-SBFD slot. For example, the configuration for CORESET may be a legacy CORESET configuration or legacy CORESET indication.

[0075] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may determine (480)  whether the CORESET for PDCCH is in the SBFD time period based on additional information or configuration.

[0076] In some example embodiments, the second apparatus 120 may transmit (430) a second configuration of a BWP associated with the CORESET for the PDCCH. As used herein, the second configuration may also be referred to as a BWP configuration. The BWP includes a DL sub-band available for the CORESET and an UL sub-band unavailable for the CORESET. For example, the second configuration may be transmitted (430) via RRC, SIB or any other suitable signaling. The first apparatus 110 may receive (440) the second configuration. If the BWP includes the DL sub-band and the UL sub-band, the first apparatus 110 may determine (480) that the CORESET for the PDCCH is in the SBFD time period. Otherwise, the CORESET is in the non-SBFD time period.

[0077] Alternatively, or in addition, in some example embodiments, the second apparatus 120 may transmit an indication to the first apparatus 110. The indication indicates that the CORESET for the PDCCH is in the SBFD time period. In response to receiving the indication, the first apparatus 110 may determine (480) that the CORESET for the PDCCH is in the SBFD time period.

[0078] In some example embodiments, the second apparatus 120 may further transmit (410) an SBFD structure configuration to the first apparatus 110. For example, the SBFD structure configuration may be transmitted (410) via RRC, SIB or any other suitable signaling. The first apparatus 110 may receive (420) the SBFD structure configuration.

[0079] The SBFD structure configuration may indicate a frequency band for the SBFD structure. The SBFD structure configuration may further indicate a number of slots / symbols wherein the frequency band is split into multiple sub-bands and wherein at least one sub-band is used for DL transmissions and at least one sub-band is used for UL transmissions. That is, the SBFD structure configuration may indicate SBFD slots / symbols, and locations of the number of slots / symbols in a radio frame. The SBFD structure configuration may further indicate a number of slots / symbols wherein the entire frequency band is used for DL transmissions or UL transmissions or Flexible transmissions. That is, the SBFD structure configuration may indicate non-SBFD slots / symbols, and locations of the number of slots / symbols in a radio frame.

[0080] In some example embodiments, if a slot is an SBFD slot and if the second configuration indicates that the BWP includes the multi-sub-band types, the first apparatus  110 may determine (480) that the CORESET for the PDCCH is in the SBFD time period.

[0081] Several approaches for determining of the CORESET in SBFD time period have been described. These approaches can be applied in combination, or separately. With such determination, the first apparatus 110 may determine whether to use the first configuration for the CORESET in SBFD for PDCCH monitoring.

[0082] In this way, the network makes CORESET more flexible and more adaptable to SBFD scenarios. The first apparatus 110 being aware of SBFD may receive the first configuration. The first apparatus 110 can switch CORESET mapping rules in SBFD slots and non-SBFD slots based on the determination of the CORESET in SBFD time period.

[0083] As briefly mentioned, the first configuration of the CORESET in SBFD may include a resource size of the CORESET. The resource size of the CORESET indicates the number of continuous PRBs for the CORESET. By way of example, the number of continuous PRBs may be 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 or any other suitable integers. As used herein, the resource size may be represented as frequencyDomainResourcesSize.

[0084] In some example embodiments, the first configuration of the CORESET in SBFD may include at least one resource bitmap of the CORESET. The at least one resource bitmap of the CORESET may include a first resource bitmap. As used herein, the first resource bitmap may be represented as frequencyDomainResources. A first bit in the first resource bitmap corresponds to a first number of continuous PRBs. The first bit may indicate whether the first number of continuous PRBs is enabled for the CORESET.

[0085] In some example embodiments, a PRB may be available for the CORESET or unavailable for the CORESET. For example, if a PRB is in an UL Sub-band, the PRB is unavailable for the CORESET. If a PRB is in a DL Sub-band, the PRB is available for the CORESET. The availability of a PRB may be determined based on the second configuration of the BWP or any other suitable information.

[0086] An available PRB may be enabled for the CORESET or disabled for the CORESET. For example, a first bit in the first resource bitmap may indicate whether the first number of continuous available PRBs is enabled for the CORESET. By way of example, if the first bit is 1 or any other predefined value, the first number of continuous PRBs is enabled for the CORESET. If the first bit is 0 or any other predefined value, the  first number of continuous PRBs is disabled for the CORESET.

[0087] In some example embodiments, a bit length of the first resource bitmap may be determined based on a reference resource size. The reference resource size may be predefined or configured. For example, the reference resource size may be 6 or any other suitable integer.

[0088] Alternatively, or in addition, in some example embodiments, the bit length of the first resource bitmap may be determined based on the resource size of the CORESET corresponding to the first number of continuous PRBs. For example, the resource size of the CORESET corresponding to the number of continuous PRBs may be included in the first configuration, such as frequencyDomainResourcesSize. By way of example, if a BWP from CRB 15 to CRB 61 is configured, the bit length of the first resource bitmap frequencyDomainResources may be determined as 45*6 / frequencyDomainResourcesSize.

[0089] In some example embodiments, the bit length of the first resource bitmap may be determined based on a size of a bandwidth part (BWP) associated with the CORESET. For example, the bit length may be determined as BWP size / frequencyDomainResourcesSize.

[0090] In some example embodiments, the bit length of the first resource bitmap may be determined based on a number of RBs available for the CORESET in the BWP. For example, the bit length may be determined as DL SUBBAND numofRBs of the BWP / frequencyDomainResourcesSize.

[0091] In some example embodiments, the bit length of the first resource bitmap may be determined based on a number of RBs available for the CORESET in a bandwidth (BW) associated with the CORESET. For example, the bit length may be determined as DL SUBBAND numofRBs of the BW / frequencyDomainResourcesSize.

[0092] Several example approaches for determining the bit length of the first resource bitmap have been described. It is to be understood that these example approaches may be used in combination, or separately. Other suitable approaches may also be applied for the determining of the bit length of the first resource bitmap. Scope of the present disclosure is not limited here.

[0093] In some example embodiments, the at least one resource bitmap of the CORESET may further include a second resource bitmap corresponding to a first group  of PRBs. The first resource bitmap indicates that the first group of PRBs is disabled for the CORESET. As used herein, the second resource bitmap may be represented as frequencyDomainResources-secondary.

[0094] A second bit in the second resource bitmap may correspond to a second number of continuous PRBs in the first group of PRBs. The second bit may indicate whether the second number of PRBs is enabled for the CORESET. That is, the second resource bitmap may use finer granularity for frequency resource of CORESET in the first resource bitmap disabled for the CORESET.

[0095] In some example embodiments, a bit length of the second resource bitmap may be determined based on a reference resource size corresponding to the first number of PRBs. For example, the reference resource size may be 6, or any other predefined or configured integer.

[0096] In some example embodiments, the bit length of the second resource bitmap may be determined based on the resource size of the CORESET corresponding to the second number of PRBs. For example, the second number of PRBs may be determined based on the number of PRBs enabled for the CORESET and the resource set of the CORESET such as frequencyDomainResourcesSize.

[0097] In some example embodiments, the bit length of the second resource bitmap may be determined based on the number of first bits in a set of first bits in the first resource bitmap. The corresponding first number of continuous PRBs corresponding to a first bit in the set of first bits is disabled for the CORESET. That is, the second resource bitmap may use finer granularity for frequency resource of CORESET corresponding to zero part in the first resource bitmap. For example, the bit length of the second resource bitmap may be based on the number of 0 in the first resource bitmap. In an example, assuming that the number of 0 in the first resource bitmap is n, then the bit length of the second resource bitmap may be n*6 / frequencyDomainResourcesSize.

[0098] By way of example, if the first resource bitmap is frequencyDomainResources [11111000011111…. ] , the second resource bitmap may be frequencyDomainResources-secondary [10000001] . In this example, the bit length of the second resource bitmap may be determined as 4*6 / frequencyDomainResourcesSize. Assuming that the frequencyDomainResourcesSize is 3, the bit length of the second resource bitmap may be 4*6 / 3 = 8 bit length.

[0099] Alternatively, or in addition, in some example embodiments, the bit length of the second resource bitmap may be determined based on a predefined bit length. In an example, assuming that the predefined bit length is m, then the bit length of the second resource bitmap may be m*6 / frequencyDomainResourcesSize.

[0100] In some example embodiments, the predefined bit length may be 2 bits or any other suitable bit length. For example, the second resource bitmap may use finer granularity for frequency resource of CORESET corresponding to a part of the first resource bitmap overlapping with UL sub-band part. In such example, the second resource bitmap may correspond to a starting bit and an ending bit in a set of first bits in the first resource bitmap. The starting bit and the ending bit may be overlapped with the UL sub-band. In such cases, the bit length of the second resource bitmap may be determined based on 2 bits (the starting bit and the ending bit) . The corresponding first number of continuous PRBs corresponding to a first bit in the set of first bits is unavailable for the CORESET. That is, the starting bit and the ending bit is unavailable for the CORESET.

[0101] By way of example, if the first resource bitmap is frequencyDomainResources [11111000011111…. ] , and the resource set is 2 (frequencyDomainResourcesSize {2} ) , the second resource bitmap may be frequencyDomainResources-secondary [110001] . In such example, the bit length of the second resource bitmap may be 2*6 / 2=6 bits length.

[0102] In some example embodiments, the first configuration of the CORESET in SBFD may include an offset of resource blocks for the CORESET. For example, the offset of resource blocks may indicate a number of PRBs between a second group of PRBs enabled for the CORESET and a third group of PRBs unavailable for the CORESET. As used herein, the offset may be represented as RB-offset-SBFD or rb-offset-SBFD.

[0103] By way of example, for each CORESET in a DL BWP of a serving cell, a respective frequencyDomainResources provides the first resource bitmap. The bits of the first resource bitmap may have a one-to-one mapping with non-overlapping groups of 6 consecutive PRBs, in an ascending order of the PRB index in the DL BWP bandwidth of PRBs. The DL BWP may be a starting BWP or lower DL Sub-band with a starting PRB position where the first PRB of the first group of 6 PRBs has a starting BWP RB index. For example, a first part of DL BWP (such as the lower DL sub-band) may have no offset compared to the starting BWP RB. A second part of DL BWP (such as an upper DL sub-band) may use the offset included in the first configuration such as RB-offset-SBFD to  control the offset-RB of the coreset bitmap.

[0104] In some example embodiments, the offset of resource blocks is indicated by one or more bits. The number of the one or more bits may be determined based on a reference resource size, or the resource size of the CORESET (such as frequencyDomainResourcesSize) .

[0105] In an example, if frequencyDomainResourcesSize is set to 2, then RB-offset-SBFD may need to use 1 bit (0 or 1) to indicate the offset of resource blocks. If frequencyDomainResourcesSize is set to 3, then RB-offset-SBFD may need to use 2 bits (0 or 1 or 2) . If frequencyDomainResourcesSize is set to 1, then RB-offset-SBFD may need to use 0 bit (0 or 1) .

[0106] In some example embodiments, the first configuration of the CORESET in SBFD may include an index of a starting PRB for the CORESET. The index of the starting PRB for the CORESET may be based on a starting PRB of a BWP associated with the CORESET. For example, the index of the starting PRB for the CORESET may be determined based on the index included in the first configuration instead of the rb-Offset included in the second configuration of BWP.

[0107] In some example embodiments, the index of the starting PRB is indicated by one or more bits. The number of the one or more bits may be determined based on a reference resource size, or the resource size of the CORESET.

[0108] In some example embodiments, rb-Offset-r16 or any other parameter may be reused or amended for at least one of the offset of resource blocks or the index of the starting PRB. The rb-Offset-r16 may be ENUMERATED {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5} which needs 3 bits. The reused or amended rb-Offset-r16 may need more or less or the same bits. Alternatively, a new parameter may be used for the at least one of the offset of resource blocks or the index of the starting PRB.

[0109] In some example embodiments, a single parameter such as rb-Offset or rb-Offset-r16 may include both the offset of resource blocks and the index of the starting PRB. For example, the single parameter may be indicated by one or more bits. The number of the one or more bits for this parameter may be determined based on reference resource size, or the resource size of the CORESET (such as frequencyDomainResourcesSize) .

[0110] In an example, if frequencyDomainResourcesSize is set to 2, then rb-Offset may need to use 2 bits (each bit being 0 or 1) to indicate two different offsets. If frequencyDomainResourcesSize is set to 3, then rb-Offset may need to use 4 bits for two different offsets, where two of these bits (being 0 or 1 or 2) corresponding to an offset, and another two bits (being 0 or 1 or 2) corresponding to another offset. Compared to rb-Offset-r16, additional one bit may be needed.

[0111] If frequencyDomainResourcesSize is set to 1, then rb-Offset may use 0 bit. In such cases, rb-Offset-r16 may be split into two parts, indicating the upper and lower DL sub-bands CORESET bitmap rb-offset, respectively.

[0112] Several examples regarding the first configuration have been described. In some example embodiments, the first configuration may include one or more of the above example information. The first configuration may further include other information regarding the CORESET not mentioned above. Scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0113] An example of the first configuration is shown in Table 1 below. In the example of Table 1, the first configuration includes the resource set and the first resource bitmap.

[0114] Table 1

[0115] In the example of Table 1, the resource set of the CORESET (frequencyDomainResourcesSize) is configured as 1, 2, 3 or 6. If frequencyDomainResourcesSize is absent or omitted, the resource set may be set to a reference resource set, such as 6. That is, in the absence of frequencyDomainResourcesSize, the first apparatus 110 may consider that each bit in the frequencyDomainResources bitmap corresponds to 6 contiguous PRBs. In the presence of frequencyDomainResourcesSize, the parameter value may indicate the number of contiguous PRBs. Each bit in the frequencyDomainResources bitmap corresponds to the parameter value.

[0116] In the example of Table 1, the first configuration may further include a first resource bitmap frequencyDomainResources. The bit length or size (X) of the first resource bitmap may be determined based on any suitable parameters mentioned above. For example, if the BWP is configured from CRB 16 to CRB 61, the bit length may be determined as 45*6 / frequencyDomainResourcesSize.

[0117] FIG. 5A illustrates an example diagram 500 of CORESET bitmap according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of FIG. 5A, a BWP 510 is configured. The CORESET bitmap of FIG. 5A may be configured by the first configuration shown in Table 1. In the example of FIG. 5A, it is assumed that the value of frequencyDomainResourcesSize is 2.

[0118] As illustrated, bitmap value 1 means two enabled contiguous RBs. In the illustrated example, [15-26] RBs and [49-60] RBs (that is, total 24 RBs) are enabled for the CORESET. Compared with the CORESET bitmap of FIG. 3C, where [15-26] RBs and [51-56] RBs total 18 RBs may be enabled for the CORESET, the CORESET bitmap configured by the first configuration may have a 33.3%CORESET capacity improvement.

[0119] These enabled RBs may be divided into four groups, including a first group of [15-20] RBs, a second group of [21-26] RBs, a third group of [49-54] RBs, and a fourth group of [55-60] RBs. With such first configuration, the result of this frequencyDomainResourcesSize multiplied by the number of 1 (or any other suitable value) in the first resource bitmap is a multiple of 6. In such cases, discontinuous combinations are possible, for example [25, 26] RB, [27, 28] RB and [49, 50] RB may be combined to a single 6RB group.

[0120] In some example embodiments, the result of this frequencyDomainResourcesSize multiplied by the number of 1 (or any other suitable value) in the first resource bitmap and then multiplied by the number of duration symbols is a multiple of 6.

[0121] Another example of the first configuration is shown in Table 2 below. In the example of Table 2, the fist configuration further includes the second resource bitmap.

[0122] Table 2

[0123] As mentioned above, the first configuration of the CORESET in SBFD may further include an offset of resource blocks for the CORESET, such as rb-offset-SBFD. Another example of the first configuration with the rb-offset-SBFD is shown in Table 3 below.

[0124] Table 3

[0125] FIG. 5B illustrates another example diagram 550 of CORESET bitmap according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. The CORESET bitmap in FIG. 5B corresponds to the first configuration shown in Table 3. In the example of FIG. 5B, the resource size is not configured. It is assumed that the resource set is the reference resource set such as 6.

[0126] As illustrated, the starting BWP CRB of the BWP 510 is CRB 15, bitmap value 1 means 6 contiguous RBs enabled for the CORESET and starting from BWP starting PRB. For example, rb-Offset-SBFD is 1 means that upper D sub-band will use one RB offset to relative to coreset bitmap (CRB or starting BWP PRB) . In the illustrated example, [15, 20] RBs, [21-26] RBs, [49-54] RBs, and [55-60] RBs (that is, total 24RBs) are enabled for the CORESET.

[0127] Compared with the CORESET bitmap of FIG. 3C, where [15-26] RBs and [51-56] RBs total 18 RBs may be enabled for the CORESET, the CORESET bitmap configured by the first configuration may have a 33.3%CORESET capacity improvement.

[0128] Several example embodiments of the first configuration have been described. In some example embodiments, these example embodiments may be used in any suitable combination. With the first configuration, the CORESET mapping rule can be changed for the SBFD slots. By using the CORESET mapping rule configured by the first configuration, the CORESET resource utilization can be improved. Such CORESET configuration can be applied to SBFD scenarios, especially for the SBFD scenarios with  small bandwidth and small BWP.

[0129] As mentioned, the first apparatus 110 may receive (440) the second configuration from the second apparatus 120. In some example embodiments, the second configuration may indicate a BW for the UL sub-band (including a guard-band (GB) ) being as a multiple of a predefined number of RBs, such as a multiple of 6 RBs. Alternatively, or in addition, in some example embodiments, the second configuration may indicate a BW for the UL sub-band (including the GB) being as a largest number of consecutive bits in the resource set disabled for the CORESET. For example, the largest number of consecutive 0 bits in the frequencyDomainResources, if the BWP is configured with SBFD. Such BWP configuration, the CORESET resource utilization can be further improved.

[0130] FIG. 6 shows a flowchart of an example method 600 implemented at a first apparatus in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 600 will be described from the perspective of the first apparatus 110 in FIG. 1.

[0131] At block 610, the first apparatus 110 receives, from a second apparatus such as the second apparatus 120, a first configuration of a control resource set in a sub-band non-overlapping full-duplex time period.

[0132] At block 620, the first apparatus 110 determines that a control resource set for a physical downlink control channel is in a sub-band non-overlapping full-duplex time period.

[0133] At block 630, the first apparatus 110 monitors, based on the first configuration of the control resource set, the physical downlink control channel in the sub-band non-overlapping full-duplex time period.

[0134] In some example embodiments, the first configuration of the control resource set includes at least one of: a resource size of the control resource set, at least one resource bitmap of the control resource set, an index of a starting physical resource block for the control resource set, or an offset of resource blocks for the control resource set.

[0135] In some example embodiments, the resource size of the control resource set indicates the number of continuous physical resource blocks for the control resource set.

[0136] In some example embodiments, the number comprises one of: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 or  9.

[0137] In some example embodiments, the at least one resource bitmap of the control resource set comprises a first resource bitmap, and a first bit in the first resource bitmap corresponds to a first number of continuous physical resource blocks, and the first bit indicates whether the first number of continuous physical resource blocks is enabled for the control resource set.

[0138] In some example embodiments, a bit length of the first resource bitmap is determined based on at least one of: a reference resource size, the resource size of the control resource set corresponding to the first number of continuous physical resource blocks, a size of a bandwidth part associated with the control resource set, a number of resource blocks available for the control resource set in the bandwidth part, or a number of resource blocks available for the control resource set in a bandwidth associated with the control resource set.

[0139] In some example embodiments, the at least one resource bitmap of the control resource set further comprises a second resource bitmap corresponding to a first group of physical resource blocks, wherein the first resource bitmap indicates that the first group of physical resource blocks is disabled for the control resource set, and a second bit in the second resource bitmap corresponds to a second number of continuous physical resource blocks in the first group of physical resource blocks, and the second bit indicates whether the second number of physical resource blocks is enabled for the control resource set.

[0140] In some example embodiments, a bit length of the second resource bitmap is determined based on at least one of: a reference resource size corresponding to the first number of physical resource blocks, the resource size of the control resource set corresponding to the second number of physical resource blocks, the number of first bits in a set of first bits in the first resource bitmap, wherein the corresponding first number of continuous physical resource blocks corresponding to a first bit in the set of first bits is disabled for the control resource set, or a predefined bit length.

[0141] In some example embodiments, the second resource bitmap corresponds to a starting bit and an ending bit in a set of first bits in the first resource bitmap, wherein the corresponding first number of continuous physical resource blocks corresponding to a first bit in the set of first bits is unavailable for the control resource set.
