Abstract
Description
Prosthetic device, prosthetic device forming device, and method for forming a prosthetic device
[0001] The present invention relates to a prosthetic device, a prosthetic device forming device, and a method for forming a prosthetic device in dental treatment.
[0002] Artificial dental crowns (so-called crowns) have been used as prosthetic devices in dental treatments for cavities, etc. Non-Patent Document 1 describes the following procedure as a conventional dental treatment method.
[0003] The treatment method described in Non-Patent Document 1 involves removing the decayed portion of the tooth when the decay has reached the nerve and the crown has become worn away, and if the decay has reached the nerve, removing the nerve and treating with medication. The decayed portion of the crown of the tooth that has undergone nerve treatment is then removed, a metal or plastic base is attached and shaped, and then an impression material, which is used to make a mold of the tooth, is used to make a model of the tooth that was removed. A model of the same shape as the tooth that was removed is then made on top of this using ceramics (porcelain), plastic, or metal, and this crown is then attached to the metal base with cement (adhesive).
[0004] If the cavity has not reached the nerve, the decayed part will be removed and a crown will be placed directly on top of it, but even if the root is relatively strong, root canal treatment is often necessary.
[0005] Patent Document 1 also describes that an artificial tooth includes a prosthesis, an insertion portion inserted in one direction into the prosthesis, and an abutment including a protrusion protruding from the prosthesis, the insertion portion being inclined so that the diameter of the outer circumferential surface increases in one direction, and the protrusion being inclined so that the diameter of the outer circumferential surface decreases in one direction, and when the prosthesis is a workpiece structure, one side end of the protrusion is connected to an artificial tooth processing device. The patent document also describes that the prosthesis includes a through-hole penetrating the interior of the prosthesis in one direction.

[0008] However, in conventional prosthetic dentistry treatment procedures, prosthetic devices are fabricated and bonded after all treatments, such as caries treatment and root canal treatment, are completed. In such conventional treatment procedures, when occlusion collapse occurs and full-arch treatment is required, changes in jaw position or root fractures can occur during treatment of individual teeth, and there are quite a few cases where the treatment plan must be changed midway.
[0009] In addition, in order to manufacture the superstructure and abutment of the implant in Patent Document 1 using a screw fixation method, a cylindrical hole is provided in the occlusal direction, and the prosthetic device is still manufactured and attached after all treatments such as caries treatment and root canal treatment have been completed.
[0010] The present invention has been made in consideration of the above circumstances, and aims to provide a prosthetic device, a prosthetic device forming device, and a method for forming a prosthetic device that, by using the prosthetic device of the present invention, can suppress changes in jaw position and tooth root fractures before and during treatment, thereby reducing changes in the treatment plan.
[0011] The prosthetic device described in claim 1 is characterized in that it comprises a prosthetic body that is shaped like a partition against the tooth to be treated and has an opening on the occlusal surface of the tooth that allows treatment to the root canal, and the prosthetic body is attached to the crown or root of the tooth before or during treatment.
[0012] The prosthetic device according to claim 2 has the same features as claim 1, and is characterized in that the prosthetic body is annular, and the open portion of the prosthetic body is an access hole that allows treatment to a root canal provided on the occlusal surface.
[0013] The prosthetic device forming device according to claim 3 comprises a scanning means for capturing images of the teeth and their surroundings before or during treatment, and a prosthetic forming means for forming the shape of the prosthetic device based on the data captured by the scanning means, and the prosthetic device formed in shape by the prosthetic forming means is attached to the crown or root of the tooth before or during treatment, is partition-like against the tooth, and has an opening on the occlusal surface of the tooth that allows treatment to the root canal.
[0014] The prosthesis forming device according to claim 4 has the same features as claim 3, and is characterized in that the prosthesis formed by the prosthesis forming means is annular, and the opening of the prosthesis is an access hole that allows treatment to a root canal provided on the occlusal surface.
[0015] The method for forming a prosthetic device described in claim 5 involves taking an impression of the tooth and its surrounding area before or during treatment, and then, based on the mold information obtained from the impression, bonding the prosthetic device to the crown or root of the tooth before or during treatment, forming a shape of a prosthetic device that is shaped like a partition against the tooth and has an opening on the occlusal surface of the tooth that allows treatment to the root canal.
[0016] The method for forming a prosthetic device described in claim 6 involves taking an image of the tooth and its surroundings before or during treatment, and based on the imaged data, bonding the prosthetic device to the crown or root of the tooth before or during treatment, and forming a shape of a prosthetic device that is shaped like a partition against the tooth and has an opening on the occlusal surface of the tooth that allows treatment to the root canal.
[0017] The method for forming a prosthetic device according to claim 7 has the same features as claim 5 or claim 6, and is characterized in that the formed prosthetic device is annular, and the open portion of the prosthetic device is an access hole that allows treatment to a root canal provided on the occlusal surface.
[0018] According to the present invention, by using the prosthetic device of the present invention, it is possible to prevent changes in jaw position and tooth root fractures from occurring before or during treatment, thereby reducing changes in the treatment plan.
[0019] It is to be understood that both the foregoing general description and the following detailed description are exemplary and explanatory and are not restrictive of the invention, and are not intended to be limiting unless otherwise specified.
[0020] The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 1 is an explanatory diagram showing an example of a prosthetic device of the present invention. Fig. 2 is an explanatory diagram showing an example of a method of using the prosthetic device. Fig. 3 is an explanatory diagram showing a longitudinal section of the prosthetic device.
[0021] The prosthetic device 1 according to the present application is used in dental treatment. In conventional prosthetic dental treatment procedures, an artificial crown is fabricated and bonded after all treatments, such as caries treatment and root canal treatment, are completed. However, the prosthetic device 1 is bonded to the crown 22 and root 30 of the tooth 20 before or during treatment.
[0022] Here, "fusing" the prosthetic device 1 (prosthetic body 10) does not mean temporarily attaching it before or during treatment, but rather means fixing or attaching it in a state that allows for continued use after treatment. Furthermore, although the terms "crown" and "root" are used in this specification, the terms "crown" and "root" may be artificial, and are not dependent on their origins. The crown 22 and root 30 shown in this embodiment and in the drawings are described as examples that are not artificial.
[0023] The prosthetic device 1 comprises a prosthetic body 10 that is shaped like a partition for a tooth 20 to be treated and has an opening 14 on the occlusal surface 12 of the tooth 20 that allows treatment to a root canal 32. The prosthetic body 10 is attached to the crown 22 or root 30 of the tooth 20 before or during treatment.
[0024] The shape of the prosthesis body 10 is such that it is attached to part or all of the crown 22 of the tooth 20, replacing part or all of the natural, non-artificial crown of a human being, thereby forming the occlusal surface 12. Such a shape is referred to as a septum shape in this application. That is, the shape of the prosthesis body 10 may be circular as shown in the example in the figure, or may be modified, for example, crescent-shaped in plan view, and the shape is determined depending on the situation of treatment.
[0025] Regarding the shape of the opening 14, when the prosthetic body 10 is toric as shown in the example of the figure, it has a hole-like shape as an access hole. However, when the prosthetic body 10 is shaped like a crescent moon, the opening 14 has a groove-like shape that allows treatment to the root canal 32 on the occlusal surface 12 of the tooth 20.
[0026] The material of the prosthetic body 10 constituting the prosthetic device 1 may be any material suitable for dentures that can be used for a long period of time, such as ceramic, resin, metal, etc.
[0027] Next, a method for forming the prosthetic device 1 will be described. The method for forming the prosthetic device 1 is realized by a prosthetic device forming device. First, the tooth 20 and its surroundings are imaged using a scanning means before or during treatment. This scanning means may be a 3D camera, an intraoral scanner, a CT data collection means, or a combination thereof. Dentists, dental technicians, etc. may also modify the data captured by the scanning means and create appropriate data as needed. Then, the shape of the prosthetic device 1 is formed based on the data captured by the scanning means. The prosthetic forming means for forming the shape of the prosthetic device 1 may be any means that forms conventional, general prosthetic devices.
[0028] Alternatively, instead of using a scanning means, an impression may be taken of the tooth 20 and its surroundings before or during treatment, and the shape of the prosthetic device 1 may be formed based on the mold information obtained by taking the impression. Regardless of the method, the shape of the prosthetic device 1 formed is as described above, but is a partition-like shape relative to the tooth 20, and has an opening 14 on the occlusal surface 12 of the tooth 20 that allows treatment to the root canal 32.
[0029] To explain the procedure for using the prosthetic device 1, in many cases, treatment for caries or the like is first performed by removing the decayed portion of the tooth 20. After that, the shape of the prosthetic device 1 is specified using a scanning means or by taking an impression, and the prosthetic device 1 is formed.
[0030] 2, for example, a fitting surface 24 for the prosthetic device 1 is formed on the crown 22 of the tooth 20 to which the prosthetic device 1 is to be attached, and the formed prosthetic device 1 is attached on top of it so that the fitting surface 16, which forms part of the inner peripheral surface of the prosthetic device 1, fits in. Here, as shown in Fig. 3, even after the prosthetic device 1 has been attached to the tooth 20, treatment of the root canal 32 of the tooth 20 is possible through the opening 14. It is also possible that prosthetic devices 1 are manufactured in such a way that they are connected to each other.
[0031] After the prosthetic device 1 is bonded, treatment of the root canal 32 is performed, and when the treatment is completed, the opening 14 is closed with a material such as resin, thereby completing the treatment of the tooth 20. However, depending on the condition of the tooth 20, the shape of the prosthetic device 1 may be formed before treatment, and the prosthetic device 1 may be bonded to the crown 22 or root 30 of the tooth 20 before treatment. Even when the prosthetic device 1 is bonded before treatment, treatment of the tooth 20 can be performed through the opening 14, and the opening 14 may be closed after the treatment is completed.
[0032] By using the prosthetic device 1 having such a configuration, it is possible to prevent changes in jaw position and tooth root fractures before and during treatment, and to reduce changes in the treatment plan. In addition, by using the prosthetic device 1 early in treatment, it is possible to prevent occlusion collapse.
[0033] This application is based on Japanese Patent Application No. 2023-120364, filed on July 25, 2023. The entire specification, claims, and drawings of Japanese Patent Application No. 2023-120364 are incorporated herein by reference.
[0034] The present invention allows various embodiments and modifications without departing from the broad spirit and scope of the present invention. Furthermore, the above-described embodiments are intended to explain the present invention and do not limit the scope of the present invention. That is, the scope of the present invention is defined by the claims, not the embodiments. Various modifications made within the scope of the claims and within the scope of the meaning of the invention equivalent thereto are considered to be within the scope of the present invention.
[0035] As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a prosthetic device, a prosthetic device forming device, and a method for forming a prosthetic device that can suppress changes in jaw position and root fractures before or during treatment, thereby reducing changes to the treatment plan.
