It is noted that example embodiments of the present disclosure are equally applicable to other resources in other domains.
[0051] In the wireless communication network, a terminal device may communicate with the network via a direct network connection or an indirect network connection. Further, in case of path switching, the communication path of the terminal device may be switched from a source network device to a target network device. In some embodiments, the source network device and the target network device are located in a same physical device (referred to as intra-gNB) . Alternatively, in some other embodiments, the source network device and the target network device are located in different physical devices (referred to as inter-gNB) .
[0052] The channel condition may change rapidly due to the mobility of Remote UE and / or Relay UE. Thus, the link quality of PC5 between the Remote UE and Relay UE may deteriorate rapidly, as well as the link quality of Uu for the Relay UE. However, the remote UE may not report the measurement results in time, or it may not receive the handover (HO) command in time. Therefore, methods to enhance robustness are needed, for example, CHO-like procedure may be introduced, which is called as CPS here.
[0053] The CHO is defined as a handover that is executed by the UE when one or more handover execution conditions are met. The UE starts evaluating the execution condition (s) upon receiving the CHO configuration, and stops evaluating the execution condition (s) once a handover is executed. Further, the following principles may apply to CHO.
[0054] The CHO configuration contains the configuration of CHO candidate cell (s) generated by the candidate gNB (s) and execution condition (s) generated by the source gNB.
[0055] An execution condition may consist of one or two trigger condition (s) (i.e., CHO events A3 / A5) . Only single RS type is supported and at most two different trigger quantities (e.g., reference signal receiving power (RSRP) and reference signal receiving quality (RSRQ) and signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) , etc. ) may be configured simultaneously for the evolution of CHO execution condition of a single candidate cell.
[0056] Before any CHO execution condition is satisfied, upon reception of HO command (without CHO configuration) , the UE executes the HO procedure, regardless of any previously received CHO configuration.
[0057] While executing CHO, i.e., from the time when the UE starts synchronization with target cell, UE does not monitor source cell.
[0058] In some embodiments, the path switch may be supported. As for D2I, below events (configured by ReportConfigInterRAT or by ReportConfigNR) for path switching may be defined:
[0059] Event Y1: PCell becomes worse than absolute threshold1 AND candidate L2 U2N Relay UE becomes better than another absolute threshold2;
[0060] Event Y2: Candidate L2 U2N Relay UE becomes better than absolute threshold.
[0061] As for I2I, below events for CPS may be defined:
[0062] Event Z1: Serving L2 U2N Relay UE becomes worse than absolute threshold1 AND Candidate L2 U2N Relay UE becomes better than another absolute threshold2.
[0063] As for I2D, below events (configured by ReportConfigNR) for CPS may be defined:
[0064] Event X1: Serving L2 U2N Relay UE becomes worse than absolute threshold1 AND NR Cell becomes better than another absolute threshold2.
[0065] Event X2: Serving L2 U2N Relay UE becomes worse than absolute threshold.
[0066] In some embodiments, CHO (i.e., conditional handover from one cell to another cell) may be supported and below trigger events (configured by ReportConfigNR) may be defined:
[0067] CondEvent A3: Conditional reconfiguration candidate becomes amount of offset better than PCell / PSCell;
[0068] CondEvent A4: Conditional reconfiguration candidate becomes better than absolute threshold;
[0069] CondEvent A5: PCell / PSCell becomes worse than absolute threshold1 AND Conditional reconfiguration candidate becomes better than another absolute threshold2;
[0070] CondEvent D1: Distance between UE and a reference location referenceLocation1 becomes larger than configured threshold distanceThreshFromReference1 and distance between UE and a reference location referenceLocation2 of conditional reconfiguration candidate becomes shorter than configured threshold distanceThreshFromReference2;
[0071] CondEvent T1: Time measured at UE becomes more than configured threshold t1-Threshold but is less than t1-Threshold + duration.

[0220] EXAMPLE EMBODIMENTS
[0221] Merely for a better understanding, more details will be discussed with reference to FIG. 9A to FIG. 13.
[0222] According to the below discussed example embodiments, as for the remote UE, execution condition for conditional path switching may be defined, procedure to notify the access of remote UE to the (target) gNB may be defined, and / or rule for CHO and CPS when both of them are configured may be defined. In this way, the remote UE may perform path switching to a proper target UE / cell quickly and thus minimize the interrupt time for data transmission.
[0223] As for the Relay UE, rule (s) to handle (configure / activate / release / delete) the configuration of candidate Relay UE may be defined. In this way, the candidate Relay UE only activates / applies the (stored) relay-related configuration upon the access of remote UE, and thus the resources efficiency may be improved.
[0224] Reference is now made to FIG. 9A, which shows a signaling chart illustrating a process 900A of communication according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In FIG. 9A, the D2I path switching of intra-gNB is performed.
[0225] In some embodiments, the (source) gNB (i.e., the second network device 120-2) may send an RRCReconfiguration message to Remote UE (i.e., the remote terminal device 110) , where the RRCReconfiguration message comprises the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE (s) and CPS execution condition (s) .
[0226] In some embodiments, the RRCReconfiguration message may indicate at least one candidate Relay UE Configuration, and for each Relay UE with its CPS configuration: radio bearer configuration, bearer mapping information, PC5 relay RLC channel (s) and so on.
[0227] In some embodiments, the RRCReconfiguration message may indicate at least one execution condition for each candidate Relay UE. In some embodiments, the CPS execution condition for D2I may be:
[0228] CondEvent Y1: PCell becomes worse than absolute threshold1 AND Conditional reconfiguration candidate (e.g., L2 U2N Relay UE) becomes better than another absolute threshold2;
[0229] CondEvent Y2: Conditional reconfiguration candidate (e.g., L2 U2N Relay UE) becomes better than absolute threshold;
[0230] CondEvent Y3: Distance between (Remote) UE and referenceLocation1 of Pcell becomes larger than configured threshold distanceThreshFromReference1 and distance between UE and referenceLocation2 of a conditional reconfiguration candidate (e.g., L2 U2N Relay UE) becomes shorter than configured threshold distanceThreshFromReference2.
[0231] In some embodiments, the source gNB may configure Remote UE with candidate Relay UE (s) by dedicate signaling, such as RRC, and configure cell level / gNB level CPS execution condition (one common configuration for all the candidate Relay UE (s) or one common configuration which may be applied to / by all the candidate Relay UE (s) ) via broadcast message such as SIB / SI.
[0232] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the source gNB may broadcast candidate Relay UE (s) and the cell level / gNB level CPS execution condition which may be applied to all the candidate Relay UE (s) via broadcast message such as SIB / SI.
[0233] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the source gNB may broadcast the cell level / gNB level CPS execution condition and it can be applied to Relay UE (s) served by this cell / gNB.
[0234] In some embodiments, the Remote UE maintains connection with (source) gNB after receiving CPS configuration, and starts evaluating the CPS execution conditions for the candidate Relay UE (s) .
[0235] In some embodiments, if at least one CPS candidate Relay UE satisfies the corresponding CPS execution condition, Remote UE may perform at least one of the following actions:
[0236] detach from the (source) gNB,
[0237] apply the stored corresponding configuration for that selected candidate Relay UE,
[0238] establish PC5 connection with the selected candidate Relay UE, if needed, or
[0239] complete the CPS procedure by sending RRCReconfigurationComplete message to the (target) gNB via the selected candidate Relay UE, wherein the selected candidate Relay UE is served by the gNB.
[0240] Additionally, in some embodiments, the Remote UE may apply the default configuration of SL-RLC1 for SRB1. Thus, the Remote UE may send the RRCReconfigurationComplete message via SL-RLC1.
[0241] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the Remote UE releases stored CPS configurations after successful completion of CPS procedure.
[0242] In some embodiments, if at least one CPS candidate Relay UE satisfies the corresponding CPS execution condition, Remote UE may select one CPS candidate Relay UE and send Indication#1 to the selected candidate Relay UE for applying / activating the relay related configuration. In other words, the Indication#1 indicates the access of Remote UE for CPS, or the CPS to the indirect path including the selected candidate Relay UE.
[0243] In some embodiments, the Indication#1 is transmitted in addition to sending RRCReconfigurationComplete or instead of sending RRCReconfigurationComplete message.
[0244] Additionally, in some embodiments, the Remote UE may send indication#1 if the PC5 connection has been established before selecting the candidate Relay UE. That is, the establishment of PC5 connection may imply the access of Remote UE for CPS, imply the CPS to the indirect path including the selected candidate Relay UE, or indicate the selected candidate Relay UE for applying / activating the relay configuration.
[0245] In some embodiments, the indication#1 is transmitted via PC5-Ssignaling, PC5-RRC signaling, L2 signalling (RLC control PDU, MAC CE, SCI and so on) .
[0246] In some embodiments, the (target) gNB sends an RRCReconfiguration message to the CPS candidate Relay UE, where the RRCReconfiguration message comprises the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE for Remote UE (also referred to as the relay configuration, the relay-related configuration, the relay-related configuration or the configuration for performing the CPS) . In some embodiments, the configuration may include at least one of the following:
[0247] an identity, such as local ID / temp ID / layer 2 ID, of the Remote UE,
[0248] an identity of the configuration for performing the CPS, or
[0249] an identity of the CPS candidate Relay UE.
[0250] In some embodiments, the RRCReconfiguration message may comprise the bearer mapping information, PC5 relay RLC channel (s) , Uu relay RLC channel (s) , layer2 ID / local ID of Remote UE and so on. In other words, the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE for Remote UE may comprise the bearer mapping information, PC5 relay RLC channel (s) , Uu relay RLC channel (s) , layer2 ID / local ID of Remote UE and so on.
[0251] Additionally, in some embodiments, the candidate Relay UE (s) may or may not apply / activate the configuration for Remote UE when receiving it.
[0252] In some embodiments, the RRCReconfiguration message may include an indication#4. If inication#4 is included, the candidate Relay UE may not apply / activate the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE for Remote UE. In other words, the candidate Relay UE may store the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE for Remote UE.
[0253] In some embodiments, the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE for Remote UE is comprised in a dedicated information element (IE) in the RRCReconfiguration message. The candidate Relay UE may not apply / activate the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE for Remote UE configured by this IE. In other words, the candidate Relay UE may store the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE for Remote UE configured by this IE.
[0254] Alternatively, in some embodiments the (target) gNB may configure the Relay UE only after Remote UE is accessed via it.
[0255] In some embodiments, upon receiving the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE for Remote UE by the candidate Relay UE, the candidate Relay UE (s) may or may not apply / activate the configuration for Remote UE when receiving it, i.e., may store it. In addition, in some embodiments, the candidate Relay UE (s) may not send the configuration from RRC layer to its lower layers or may not configure the lower layer according to the configuration.
[0256] In some embodiments, the (target) gNB may send an indication#2 to the selected candidate Relay UE for activating / applying the relay configuration or send the RRC message containing the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE, after receiving the RRCReconfigurationComplete message from remote UE or after receiving indication#3. In some embodiments, Indication#2 may include at least one of the following:
[0257] an identity, such as local ID / temp ID / layer 2 ID, of the Remote UE,
[0258] an identity of the configuration for performing the CPS, or
[0259] an identity of the CPS candidate Relay UE.
[0260] By informing the user’s access status through underlying signaling (e.g., Indication#1) , resources can be configured more promptly.
[0261] In some embodiments, the selected candidate Relay UE may apply / active the relay configuration for Remote UE upon at least one of the following:
[0262] after the PC5 connection with Remote UE is established;
[0263] after receiving the indication #1 from Remote UE, or
[0264] after receiving the indication #2 from (its serving) gNB (also the target gNB of Remote UE) ,
[0265] once it is configured by the gNB,
[0266] after receiving information from default PC5 relay RLC channel, such as SL-RLC1, or
[0267] in RRC connected.
[0268] In some embodiments, when the selected candidate Relay UE apply / activate the stored relay related configuration:
[0269] Its RRC layer may configure its SRAP layer with the bearer mapping info. for a specific Remote UE, or request the SRAP layer to apply the bearer mapping information for a specific Remote UE;
[0270] Its RRC layer may configure its RLC layer with the Uu / PC5 RLC relay channel (s) . for a specific Remote UE, or request the RLC layer to apply the RLC relay channel (s) for a specific Remote UE; or
[0271] Its RRC layer may configure its MAC / PHY layer for a specific Remote UE, such as L2 ID of Remote UE. Thus, the lower layer may receive the data sent from the specific Remote UE and / or perform measurement on the PC5 link.
[0272] In some embodiments, upon receiving indication#1, the Relay may send indication#3 to the (target) gNB to inform the access of Remote UE, via legacy SUI or new RRC signaling Uplink Control Information (UCI) and so on.
[0273] In this way, resource configuration / activation is performed only after Remote UE access, which helps reduce resource consumption, especially in terms of computing and storage resources.
[0274] In some embodiments, the (target) gNB may request other candidate Relay UE (served by this gNB) to release / deactivate the relay related configuration for Remote UE.
[0275] Additionally, in some embodiments, it may inform the source gNB with the access of Remote UE, via new Xn message or a legacy Xn message, such as HO SUCCESS. Additionally, this message may indicate the completion / execution / performing / accessing for / of CPS for the Remote UE.
[0276] In some embodiments, the source gNB may inform other candidate gNB (s) to request other candidate Relay UE (s) to release / de-active the relay related configuration for Remote UE.
[0277] According to the above discussions, different signalling interactions may be used. Some example processes are listed as below. Below examples illustrate the selection of: RRCReconfigurationComplete, Indicator#1, Indicator#2, Indicator#3.
[0278] In some embodiments, in case that the relay configuration is pre-configured, only RRCReconfigurationComplete is selected, i.e., Remote UE may send RRCReconfigurationComplete message to notify the target gNB with its access / the execution of CPS and apply / activate the (CPS) configuration of Relay UE upon receiving the RRC message. After that, Relay UE may send this message from Relay UE to the target gNB according to the configuration. Additionally, the RRC message may be sent via a default RLC channel. Alternatively, or in addition, a specific / default Uu (relay) RLC channel is configured for sending this message from Relay UE to the target gNB. In some embodiments, the Relay UE is in RRC_CONNECTED state. In this way, the signalling overhead is reduced.
[0279] In some embodiments, in case that the relay configuration is pre-configured, RRCReconfigurationComplete and Indicator#2 may be selected. Specifically, the Remote UE may send RRCReconfigurationComplete message to notify the target gNB with its access, and the target gNB may send Indicator#2 to activate the configuration of Relay UE upon receiving the RRC message. Additionally, a specific / default Uu (relay) RLC channel is configured for sending this message from Relay UE to the target gNB. In this way, when to activate the relay related configuration is controlled by the network device 120.
[0280] In some embodiments, in case that the relay configuration is pre-configured, Indicator#1 and Indicator#3 is selected. Specifically, the Remote UE may send Indicator#1 to active the configuration of Relay UE or to notify execution / access of Remote UE for the CPS, and Relay UE may send Indicator#3 message to notify the target gNB with the access of Remote UE via legacy SUI or a new message.
[0281] In some embodiments, in case that the relay configuration is pre-configured, RRCReconfigurationComplete and Indicator#1 may be selected. Specifically, the Remote UE may send Indicator#1 to active the configuration of Relay UE and Remote UE may send RRCReconfigurationComplete message to notify the target gNB with its access.
[0282] In some embodiments, in case that the relay configuration is pre-configured, Indicator#1, Indicator#2 and Indicator#3 may be selected. Specifically, the Remote UE may send Indicator#1 to notify Relay UE with its access of Relay UE. Relay UE may send Indicator#3 message to notify the target gNB with the access of Remote UE, the target gNB may send Indicator#2 to activate the configuration of Relay UE upon receiving Inication#3.
[0283] In some embodiments, in case that the relay configuration is configured after the Remote UE accesses the second path, Indicator#3 or RRCReconfigurationComplete (alt1) may be selected. Specifically, upon receiving Indicator#3 or RRCReconfigurationComplete, the target gNB may configure Relay UE with relay related configuration for Remote UE.
[0284] In some embodiments, in case that the relay related configuration is configured after the Remote UE accesses the second path, RRCReconfigurationComplete and Indicator#3 may be selected. Specifically, upon receiving siganaling via dedicated / default RLC channel, Relay UE sends indicator#3 to the target gNB to inform the access of Remote UE. In some embodiments, the Relay UE is in RRC_CONNECTED state. Further, upon receiving Indicator#3, the target gNB may configure Relay UE with relay related configuration for Remote UE.
[0285] In this way, resource configuration / activation is performed only after Remote UE access, which helps reduce resource consumption, especially in terms of computing and storage resources.
[0286] Further, in terms of delay, the pre-configuration solution performs better, while the post-configuration solution only requires to configure one candidate Relay UE, and thus reduces the signaling overhead.
[0287] Reference is now made to FIG. 9B, which shows a signaling chart illustrating a process 900B of communication according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In FIG. 9B, the I2I path switching of intra-gNB is performed.
[0288] In some embodiments, the (source) gNB (i.e., the second network device 120-2) may send an RRCReconfiguration message to Remote UE (i.e., the remote terminal device 110) , where the RRCReconfiguration message comprises the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE (s) and CPS execution condition (s) .
[0289] In some embodiments, the RRCReconfiguration message may indicate at least one candidate Relay UE Configuration, and for each Relay UE with its CPS configuration: radio bearer configuration, bearer mapping information, PC5 relay RLC channel (s) and so on.
[0290] In some embodiments, the RRCReconfiguration message may indicate at least one execution condition for each candidate Relay UE. In some embodiments, the CPS execution condition for I2I may be:
[0291] CondEvent Z1: Serving L2 U2N Relay UE becomes worse than absolute threshold1 AND conditional reconfiguration candidate (e.g., L2 U2N Relay UE) becomes better than another absolute threshold2;
[0292] CondEvent Z3: Distance between (Remote) UE and referenceLocation1 of serving L2 U2N Relay UE becomes larger than configured threshold distanceThreshFromReference1 and distance between UE and referenceLocation2 of a conditional reconfiguration candidate (e.g., L2 U2N Relay UE) becomes shorter than configured threshold distanceThreshFromReference2.
[0293] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the source gNB may configure Remote UE with candidate Relay UE (s) by dedicate signaling such as RRC, and configure cell level / gNB level CPS execution condition (such as one common configuration for all the candidate Relay UEs) via broadcast message such as SIB / SI.
[0294] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the source gNB may broadcast candidate Relay UE (s) and the cell level / gNB level CPS execution condition (such as, one common configuration for all the candidate Relay UE (s) or one common configuration which may be applied to / by all the candidate Relay UE (s) ) via broadcast message such as SIB / SI.
[0295] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the source gNB may broadcast the cell level / gNB level CPS execution condition and it can be applied to Relay UEs served by this cell / gNB.
[0296] In some embodiments, the Remote UE maintains connection with the serving Relay UE after receiving CPS configuration, and starts evaluating the CPS execution conditions for the candidate Relay UE (s) . If at least one CPS candidate Relay UE satisfies the corresponding CPS execution condition, Remote UE may:
[0297] release the PC5 connection with the old serving Relay UE,
[0298] apply the stored corresponding configuration for that selected candidate Relay UE,
[0299] establish PC5 connection with the selected candidate Relay UE, if needed, and
[0300] completes the CPS procedure by sending RRCReconfigurationComplete message to the (target) gNB via the selected candidate Relay UE, wherein the selected candidate Relay UE is served by the gNB.
[0301] Additionally, in some embodiments, the Remote UE may apply the default configuration of RLC channel such as SL-RLC1 for SRB1. Thus send the RRCReconfigurationComplete message via the default RLC channel (e.g., SL-RLC1) .
[0302] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the Remote UE releases stored CPS configurations after successful completion of CPS procedure.
[0303] In some embodiments, if at least one CPS candidate Relay UE satisfies the corresponding CPS execution condition, Remote UE may select one CPS candidate Relay UE and send Indication#1 to the selected candidate Relay UE for applying / activating the relay related configuration.
[0304] In some embodiments, the Indication#1 is transmitted in addition to sending RRCReconfigurationComplete or instead of sending RRCReconfigurationComplete message.
[0305] In some embodiments, the Remote UE may send indication#1 if the PC5 connection has been established before selecting the candidate Relay UE. In some embodiments, the indication#1 is transmitted via PC5-Ssignaling, PC5-RRC signaling, L2 signalling (RLC control PDU, MAC CE, SCI and so on) .
[0306] In some embodiments , the (target) gNB sends an RRCReconfiguration message to the CPS candidate Relay UE, where the RRCReconfiguration message comprises the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE.
[0307] In some embodiments, the RRCReconfiguration message may comprise the bearer mapping information, PC5 relay RLC channel (s) , Uu relay RLC channel (s) , layer2 ID / local ID of Remote UE and so on.
[0308] Additionally, in some embodiments, the candidate Relay UE (s) may or may not apply / activate the configuration for Remote UE when receiving it. In other words, the candidate Relay UE (s) may store the configuration for Remote UE.
[0309] In some embodiments, the RRC message may include an indication#4. If Inication#4 is included, the candidate Relay UE may not apply / activate the configuration of candidate Relay UE for Remote UE. In other words, if Inication#4 is included, the candidate Relay UE may store the configuration for Remote UE. Alternatively, if Indication#4 is set to ‘true’ , the candidate Relay UE may store the configuration for Remote UE. The indication#4 may be implemented in any suitable manner, including but not limited to, 1-bit indication, a dedicated field / parameter and so on. The present is not limited in this regard.
[0310] Alternatively, in some embodiments the (target) gNB may configure the Relay UE only after Remote UE is accessed via it.
[0311] In some embodiments, upon receiving the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE by the candidate Relay UE, the candidate Relay UE (s) may or may not apply / activate the configuration for Remote UE when receiving it, i.e., may n store it. In addition, in some embodiments, the candidate Relay UE (s) may not send the configuration from RRC layer to its lower layers or may not configure the lower layer according to the configuration.
[0312] In some embodiments, the (target) gNB may send an indication#2 to the selected candidate Relay UE for activating / applying the relay configuration, or send the RRC message containing the configuration of CPS candidate Relay UE, after receiving the RRCReconfigurationComplete message from remote UE, or after receiving indication#3. In some embodiments, Indication#2 includes at least one of the following:
[0313] an identity, such as local ID / temp ID / layer 2 ID, of the Remote UE,
[0314] an identity of the configuration for performing the CPS, or
[0315] an identity of the CPS candidate Relay UE.
[0316] By informing the user’s access status through underlying signaling (e.g., Indication#1) , resources can be configured more promptly.
[0317] In some embodiments, the selected candidate Relay UE may apply / active the relay related configuration for Remote UE upon at least one of the following:
[0318] after the PC5 connection with Remote UE is established;
[0319] after receiving the indication #1 from remote UE, or
[0320] after receiving the indication #2 from (its serving) gNB (also the target gNB of remote UE) ,
[0321] once it is configured by the gNB,
[0322] after receiving information from default PC5 relay RLC channel, such as SL-RLC1, or
[0323] in RRC connected.
[0324] In some embodiments, when the selected candidate Relay UE apply / activate the stored relay related configuration:
[0325] Its RRC layer may configure its SRAP layer with the bearer mapping information for a specific Remote UE, or request the SRAP layer to apply the bearer mapping information for a specific Remote UE;
[0326] Its RRC layer may configure its RLC layer with the Uu / PC5 RLC relay channel (s) . for a specific Remote UE, or request the RLC layer to apply the RLC relay channel (s) for a specific Remote UE; or
[0327] Its RRC layer may configure its MAC / PHY layer for a specific Remote UE, such as L2 ID of Remote UE. Thus, the lower layer may receive the data sent from the specific Remote UE and / or perform measurement on the PC5 link.
[0328] In some embodiments, upon receiving indication#1, the Relay may send indication#3 to the (target) gNB to inform the access of Remote UE, via legacy SUI or new RRC, UCI and so on.
[0329] In this way, resource configuration / activation is performed only after Remote UE access, which helps reduce resource consumption, especially in terms of computing and storage resources.
[0330] In some embodiments, the (target) gNB may request other candidate Relay UE(served by this gNB) to release / deactivate the relay related configuration for Remote UE.
[0331] Additionally, in some embodiments, the target gNB may inform the source gNB with the access of Remote UE, via new Xn message or a legacy Xn message, such as HO SUCCESS. Additionally, this message may indicate the completion / execution / performing / access for / of CPS for the Remote UE.
[0332] In some embodiments, the source gNB may inform other candidate gNB (s) to request other candidate Relay UE (s) to release / de-active the relay related configuration for Remote UE, such as, including the ID of Remote UE / configuration ID.
[0333] In some embodiments, for intra-gNB case, the (source) gNB may send RRCReconfiguration message to the S-Relay UE to release the configuration for Remote UE, after receiving the RRCReconfigurationComplete message of remote UE.
[0334] In some embodiments, for inter-gNB case, the source gNB may send RRCReconfiguration message to the S-Relay UE to release the configuration for Remote UE , after notified by the target gNB with legacy / new Xn message, via, legacy Xn message (such as HANDOVER SUCCESS) , or new Xn message (including at least one of the identity of Remote UE , the identity of the selected Relay UE, or the identity of the configuration for (performing) the CPS) .
[0335] In this way, the correct timing and sequence of procedure for resource release to avoid premature release that may cause data transmission interruption may be defined.
[0336] Reference is now made to FIG. 10, which shows a signaling chart illustrating a process 1000 of communication according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In FIG. 10, the I2D conditional path switching of intra-gNB is performed.
[0337] In some embodiments, the gNB sends an RRCReconfiguration message to Remote UE, where the RRCReconfiguration message comprises the configuration of CPS candidate cell (s) and CPS execution condition (s) .
[0338] In some embodiments, the RRCReconfiguration message comprises at least one candidate cell, for example, configuration for each cell: radio bearer configuration.
[0339] In some embodiments, at least one execution condition for each candidate cell may be defined as below:
[0340] CondEvent X1: Serving L2 U2N Relay UE becomes worse than absolute threshold1 AND conditional reconfiguration candidate (NR cell) becomes better than another absolute threshold2;
[0341] CondEvent X3: Distance between (Remote) UE and referenceLocation1 of serving L2 U2N Relay UE becomes larger than configured threshold distanceThreshFromReference1 and distance between UE and referenceLocation2 of a conditional reconfiguration candidate (NR cell) becomes shorter than configured threshold distanceThreshFromReference2;
[0342] CondEvent X2: Serving L2 U2N Relay UE becomes worse than absolute threshold.
[0343] In some embodiments, the Remote UE may be configured with its serving cell as the candidate cell or not configured with any candidate cell.
[0344] Additionally, in some embodiments CondEvent4 may also be used for CPS (I2D) , e.g., the conditional reconfiguration candidate becomes better than absolute threshold.
[0345] In some embodiments, the Remote UE maintains connection with the serving Relay UE after receiving CPS configuration, and starts evaluating the CPS execution conditions for the candidate cell (s) .
[0346] In some embodiments, for Event X1, Event X3, Event 4A, if at least one CPS candidate cell satisfies the corresponding CPS execution condition, Remote UE may select one candidate cell and execute at least one of the following:
[0347] release the PC5 connection with the old serving Relay UE, for I2D,
[0348] apply the stored corresponding configuration for that selected candidate cell,
[0349] synchrony to that candidate cell, and
[0350] complete the CPS procedure by sending RRCReconfigurationComplete message to the (target) gNB where the selected candidate cell located.
[0351] In some embodiments, the Remote UE releases stored CPS configurations after successful completion of CPS procedure.
[0352] In some embodiment, for Event X2, if the execution condition is satisfied, its serving cell is select as the target cell, Remote UE may execute at least one of the following:
[0353] release the PC5 connection with the old serving Relay UE, for I2D,
[0354] synchrony to that candidate cell, and
[0355] complete the CPS procedure by sending RRCReconfigurationComplete message to the gNB where the serving cell located.
[0356] In some embodiments, the Remote UE releases stored CPS configurations after successful completion of CPS procedure. Alternatively, in some embodiments the target cell is pre-configured, for example, configured together with the Event X2.
[0357] In some embodiments, for intra-gNB case, the (source) gNB may send RRCReconfiguration message to the S-Relay UE to release the configuration for Remote UE, after receiving the RRCReconfigurationComplete message of remote UE.
[0358] In some embodiments, for inter-gNB case, the source gNB may send RRCReconfiguration message to the S-Relay UE to release the configuration for Remote UE, after notified by the target gNB with legacy Xn message (such as HANDOVER SUCCESS) or new Xn message (including at least one of the identity of remote UE, the identity of the selected Relay UE, or the identity of configuration for (performing) the CPS) .
[0359] Reference is now made to FIG. 11, which shows a signaling chart illustrating a process 1100 of communication according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In FIG. 11, the D2I path switching of inter-gNB is performed.
[0360] Reference is now made to FIG. 12, which shows a signaling chart illustrating a process 1200 of communication according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In FIG. 12, the I2I path switching of inter-gNB is performed.
[0361] Reference is now made to FIG. 13, which shows a signaling chart illustrating a process 1300 of communication according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In FIG. 13, the D2I path switching of inter-gNB is performed.
[0362] As the signalling interaction processes have been fully discussed, and thus the similar and same contents are omitted herein.
[0363] In the following, details about how to handle CPS and CHO is discussed.
[0364] In some embodiments, one remote UE (for example, the Remote UE has a direct path currently) may be configured with both (D2I) CPS and CHO.
[0365] In some embodiments, if at least one CPS candidate Relay UE satisfies the corresponding CPS execution condition and at least one CHO candidate cell satisfies the corresponding CHO execution condition, it is up to remote UE implementation to select the candidate Relay UE or the candidate cell, or select the candidate node (such as Relay UE and cell) with higher link quality, or select candidate cell if available, or select candidate Relay UE if available.
[0366] In some embodiments, one remote UE (for example, the Remote UE has an indirect path currently) may be configured with both CPS (I2I) and CPS (I2D) . If at least one CPS candidate Relay UE satisfies the corresponding CPS execution condition and at least one CPS candidate cell satisfies the corresponding CPS execution condition.
[0367] In some embodiments, it is up to remote UE implementation to select the candidate Relay UE or the candidate cell, or select the candidate node with higher link quality, or Select candidate cell first, or Select candidate Relay UE first.
[0368] In some embodiments, for Remote UE configured with (D2I) CPS (and / or CHO) , i.e., the Remote UE connects to the network with direct path.
[0369] In some embodiments, before any CPS execution condition is satisfied, upon reception of HO command (without CHO configuration) , the Remote UE executes the HO procedure, regardless of any previously received CPS configuration.
[0370] In some embodiments, before any CPS execution condition is satisfied, upon reception of path switching command (without CPS configuration) , the Remote UE executes the path switching procedure, regardless of any previously received CPS configuration. In some embodiment, the path switching command is for D2I.
[0371] In some embodiments, before any CHO execution condition is satisfied, upon reception of path switching command (without CPS configuration) , the Remote UE executes the path switching procedure, regardless of any previously received CHO configuration.
[0372] In some embodiments, if Remote UE connects to the network with direct path, it may ignore the CPS configuration and / or CPS execution condition for I2I or I2D CPS.
[0373] In some embodiments, for Remote UE configured with I2I CPS and / or I2D CPS, i.e., the Remote UE connects to the network with indirect path.
[0374] In some embodiments, before any CPS execution condition is satisfied, upon reception of HO command (without CHO configuration) , the UE executes the HO procedure, regardless of any previously received CPS configuration.
[0375] In some embodiments, before any CPS execution condition is satisfied, upon reception of path switching command (without CPS configuration) , the UE executes the path switching procedure, regardless of any previously received CPS configuration, . In some embodiments, the path switching command is for I2I. Alternatively or in addition, in some embodiments, the path switching command is for I2D.
[0376] In some embodiments, if Remote UE connects to NW with indirect path, it may ignore the CHO configuration or CPS configuration and / or CPS execution condition for D2I.
[0377] EXAMPLE OF METHODS
[0378] FIG. 14 illustrates a flowchart of a communication method 1400 implemented at a remote terminal device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1400 will be described from the perspective of the remote terminal device 110 in FIG. 1A.
[0379] At block 1410, the remote terminal device 110 receives, from a second network device 120-2, a configuration for performing a conditional path switch (CPS) from a first path to a second path, wherein the first path is a direct path or an indirect path and the second path is in indirect path.
[0380] At block 1420, upon a condition for performing the CPS is satisfied, the remote terminal device 110 transmits at least one of the following: a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration complete message based on a default radio link control (RLC) configuration, or a first indication to a first relay terminal device 130-1, the first indication indicating that the remote terminal device 110 switches to the second path.
[0381] In some example embodiments, the RRC reconfiguration complete message indicates at least one of the following: an identity of the remote terminal device 110, an identity of the configuration for performing the CPS, or an identity of the first relay terminal device 130-1.
[0382] In some example embodiments, if the first path is a direct path, the condition for performing the CPS is determined to be satisfied if at least one of the following: a distance between the remote terminal device 110 and a first reference location of a serving cell is equal to or larger than a first threshold distance, or a distance between the remote terminal device 110 and a second reference location of the first relay terminal device 130-1 is equal to or smaller than a second threshold distance.
[0383] In some example embodiments, if the first path is an indirect path, the condition for performing the CPS is determined to be satisfied if at least one of the following: a distance between the remote terminal device 110 and a third reference location of a source relay terminal device is equal to or larger than a first threshold distance, or a distance between the remote terminal device 110 and a second reference location of the first relay terminal device 130-1 is equal to or smaller than a second threshold distance.
[0384] In some example embodiments, upon a completion of the CPS, the remote terminal device 110 releases the configuration for performing the CPS.
[0385] In some example embodiments, the configuration is one of the following: a configuration dedicated for the remote terminal device 110, a configuration configured for a specific cell, or a configuration configured for a specific network device.
[0386] In some example embodiments, the first indication is comprised in one of the following: a PC5-RRC signaling, a layer 2 (L2) signalling, an RLC control PDU, medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) , or sidelink control information (SCI) .
[0387] In some example embodiments, the CPS is an intra-the next generation bode B (intra-gNB) CPS or an inter-gNB CPS.
[0388] FIG. 15 illustrates a flowchart of a communication method 1500 implemented at a first relay terminal device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.
