Description

vehicle charging device

[0001] The present invention relates to a vehicle charging device.

[0002] Eco-friendly vehicles such as electric vehicles (EVs) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) use electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) installed at charging stations to charge their batteries.

[0003] Several standards are actively being developed to facilitate interaction between electric vehicles and EVSE. These standards for electric vehicle charging can be broadly categorized into charging systems, charging interfaces, and communication protocols.

[0004] However, since different regulations are adopted by each country or automobile company, the charging devices, battery packs, and battery management systems (BMS) of electric vehicles must be developed and designed according to the regulations.

[0005] Vehicles without a wireless charging receiver cannot charge via wireless charging stations. Furthermore, if a wired charging station is overcrowded or malfunctioning, charging is limited.

[0006] The technical problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a vehicle charging device.

[0007] In order to solve the above technical problem, a vehicle charging device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a receiving coil arranged to face a wireless charging coil of an EVSE; a power supply unit that converts power received from the receiving coil; a communication unit that communicates with the EVSE and an EVCC of a vehicle; a control unit that controls charging according to information received from the communication unit; and a charging gun that is inserted into an inlet of the vehicle.

[0009] The power supply unit, the communication unit, and the control unit are formed in a box shape, and the receiving coil and the charging gun can each be connected to the box via a cable.

[0010] The control unit can determine whether to start charging by considering whether the receiving coil and the wireless charging coil of the EVSE are connected and whether the inlet of the charging gun is connected.

[0011] The above communication unit can perform PWM communication with the receiving coil.

[0012] It may include a battery that is charged with power for the operation of the vehicle charging device from the receiving coil.

[0013] According to the present embodiments, charging can be performed at a wireless charging station even if the vehicle is not equipped with a wireless charging receiver.

[0014] Additionally, the vehicle charging device can be simplified and miniaturized by including a coil pad capable of wireless vehicle charging.
