Description

CAMERA ASSEMBLY AND ELECTRONIC DEVICETECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a camera assembly and an electronic device.BACKGROUND

[0002] Electronic devices such as smartphones and tablet terminals are widely used in our daily life. Nowadays, many of the electronic devices are equipped with a camera assembly for capturing images. Some of the electronic devices are portable and are thus easy to carry. Therefore, a user of the electronic device may easily take a picture of an object by using the camera assembly of the electronic device anytime, anywhere.

[0003] Conventionally, when a camera is mounted on an electronic device such as a smartphone, there is a device in which a plurality of actuators and position detection elements are arranged adjacent to one side of an image sensor. Therefore, there is a deviation between the rotation center of the plurality of rotation actuators and the optical axis center of the image sensor.

[0004] In addition, position detection by each position detection element also deviates. As a result, a loss occurs in the thrust force of the driving actuator.

[0005] In addition, there is a difference in the amount of deviation in each position detection, which results in an error in the position detection. Therefore, it is necessary to correct the error.

[0006] Also, since the center of rotation is different from the center of the optical axis, the swing width of the image sensor is larger than when rotated about the center of the optical axis. Therefore, the electronic device is enlarged.SUMMARY

[0064] As shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, the second actuator 72 is arranged at a position along the first axis XL, and is configured to apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the direction of the second axis YL, in order to move the movable substrate 4 relative to the fixed plate 5.

[0065] Especially, the second actuator 72 is arranged so that the third actuator 73 is positioned between the fourth side 64 of the image sensor 6.

[0066] More specifically, as shown in FIGS. 5A and 5B, the second actuator 72 includes a second coil 72a, and a second magnet 72c. The second coil 72a is arranged on the movable substrate 4. The second magnet 72c is a permanent magnet (for example, a two-pole magnetized magnet) arranged on the fixed plate 5 so as to face the second coil 72a, wherein the second coil 72a and the second magnet 72c constitute a motor (a magnetic conversion) .

[0067] Thus, as shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, the image sensor 6 is arranged between the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 on the first axis XL.

[0069] In this embodiment, especially, as shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, the distance between the first actuator 71 and the optical axis ZL is shorter than the distance between the actuator 72 and the optical axis ZL.

[0070] As disclosed above, the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 are configured to apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the direction of the second axis YL, in order to move the movable substrate 4 relative to the fixed plate 5.

[0071] Especially, the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 are configured to apply driving forces to the movable substrate 4, so as to roll the movable substrate 4, on which the image sensor 6 is arranged, on the fixed plate about the optical axis ZL.

[0072] As shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, the third actuator 73 is arranged at a position along the first axis XL, and is configured to apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in a direction of the first axis XL, in order to move the movable substrate 4 relative to the fixed plate 5.

[0073] Especially, the third actuator 73 is arranged between the second actuator 72 and the fourth side 64 of the image sensor 6.

[0074] More specifically, as shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, the third actuator 73 includes a third coil 73a and a third magnet 73c. The third coil 73a is arranged on the movable substrate 4. The third magnet 73c is a permanent magnet (for example, a two-pole magnetized magnet) arranged on the fixed plate 5 so as to face the third coil 73a, wherein the third coil 73a and the third magnet 73c constitute a motor (a magnetic conversion) .

[0075] It is noted that, as shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, in the direction along the first axis XL, the image sensor 6 is positioned between the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72. Furthermore, in the direction along the first axis XL, the third actuator 73 is positioned between the image sensor 6 and the second actuator 72, and

[0076] On the other hand, as shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, the first position detection element 71b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 so as to be adjacent to the first actuator 71 along the first axis XL, and is configured to detect a relative position of the first position detection element 71a with respect to the fixed plate 5.

[0077] Especially, the first position detection element 71b detects the relative position of the first position detection element 71b with respect to the fixed plate 5 in the direction of the second axis YL.

[0078] For example, the first position detection element 71b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 so as to be positioned at the center of the first coil 71a. The first position detection element 71b is a first Hall element 71b configured to detect the magnetism of the first magnet 71c.

[0079] In this case, as shown in Fig. 7, the first position detection element 71b detects the relative position with respect to the fixed plate 5 by detecting the magnetism of the first magnet 71c (magnetism of S pole and N pole) .

[0080] For example, as shown in Figure 7, the first position detection element 71b detects the magnetism of the first magnet 71c (Magnetism of S and N poles) and outputs a voltage corresponding to the distance from the polar boundary 80 between the S pole and the N pole of the first magnet 71c (converting magnetic flux density into voltage) .

[0081] For example, as shown in FIG. 7, the first position detection element 71b outputs a positive voltage when the first position detection element 71b moves from the polar boundary 80 to a position on the N pole side. On the other hand, for example, as shown in FIG. 7, the first position detecting element 71b outputs a negative voltage when the first position detection element 71b moves from the polar boundary 80 to a position on the S pole side.

[0082] The voltage output by the first position detection element 71b changes according to the distance from the polar boundary 80 of the first magnet 71c. Based on this voltage value, the position of the first position detecting element 71b relative to the fixed plate 5 can be obtained.

[0083] It is noted that the detection of the second and third position detection elements 72b and 73b will also be described in the same way.

[0084] Furthermore, as shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, the second position detection element 72b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 so as to be adjacent to the second actuator 72 along the first axis XL, and is configured to detect a relative position of the second position detection element 72 with respect to the fixed plate 5.

[0085] Especially, the second position detection element 72b detects the relative position of the second position detection element 72b with respect to the fixed plate 5 in the direction of the second axis YL.

[0086] For example, the second position detection element 72b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 so as to be positioned at the center of the second coil 72a. The second position detection element 72b is a second Hall element 72b configured to detect the magnetism of the second magnet 72c.

[0087] In this case, the second position detection element 72b detects the relative position with respect to the fixed plate 5 by detecting the magnetism of the second magnet 72c (magnetism of S pole and N pole) .

[0088] Furthermore, as shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, the third position detection element 73b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 so as to be adjacent to the third actuator 73 along the first axis XL, and is configured to detect a relative position of the third position detection element 73b with respect to the fixed plate 5.

[0089] Especially, the third position detection element 73b detects the relative position of the third position detection element 73b with respect to the fixed plate 5 in the direction of the first axis XL.

[0090] For example, the third position detection element 73b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 so as to be positioned at the center of the third coil 73a. The third position detection element 73b is a third Hall element 73b configured to detect the magnetism of the third magnet 73c.

[0091] In this case, the third position detection element 73b detects the relative position with respect to the fixed plate 5 by detecting the magnetism of the third magnet 73c (magnetism of S pole and N pole) .

[0092] Furthermore, for example, as shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, the first position detection element 71b, the second position detection element 72b, and the third position detection element 73b are arranged at positions along the first axis XL.

[0093] Furthermore, for example, as shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, a first distance Ra between the first position detection element 71b and the optical axis ZL is different from a second distance Rb between the second position detection element 72b and the optical axis ZL.

[0094] Especially, as shown in Fig. 5, Fig. 6A, and Fig. 6B, the first distance Ra between the first position detection element 71b and the optical axis ZL is shorter than the second distance Rb between the second position detection element 72b and the optical axis ZL.

[0095] Here, FIG. 8 is a top view focusing on the image sensor, the first to third position detection elements and the first to third actuators of the camera assembly shown in FIG. 5.

[0096] For example, a relative position of the image sensor 6 in the direction of the second axis YL with respect to the fixed plate 5 is obtained, or a relative position of the image sensor rolled about the optical axis ZL with respect to the fixed plate 5 is obtained, based on the position detected by the first position detection element 71b and the position detected by the second position detection element 72b.

[0097] In more detail, when a polarity of the position detected by the first position detection element 71b in the direction of the second axis YL and a polarity of the position detected by the second position detection element 72b in the direction of the second axis YL and are the same, the image sensor 6 is displaced in the direction of the second axis YL (the direction +DY or -DY in Fig. 8) .

[0098] On the other hand, when a polarity of the position detected by the first position detection element 71b  in the direction of the second axis YL and a polarity of the position detected by the second position detection element 72b in the direction of the second axis YL and are different, the image sensor 6 rolls around the optical axis ZL (the direction +DR or -DR in Fig. 8) .

[0099] Furthermore, a relative position of the image sensor 6 in the direction of the first axis XL with respect to the fixed plate 5 is obtained, based on the position detected by the third position detection element 73b.

[0100] For example, when the position detected by the third position detection element 73b is displaced in the direction of the first axis XL, the image sensor 6 moves in the direction of the first axis XL (the direction +DX or -DX in Fig. 8) .

[0101] By arranging the first to third position detection elements 71b, 72b, and 73b such as the hall elements (using the NS polar border for detection) as described above, the center of the roll of the image sensor 6 is at the center of the optical axis ZL, and the first and second position detection elements 71b and 72b are on the first axis XL, so there is no misalignment of the direction of the second axis YL during the roll and interference in the direction of the first axis XL is reduced.

[0102] It is noted that an additional camera assembly (not shown) may be arranged adjacent to the camera assembly 30 in the second axial direction YL.

[0103] This case corresponds to, for example, the case in which the first camera assembly 30a and the second camera assembly 30b are arranged side by side in the long side direction of the electronic device 10 via a spacer, shown in FIG. 1.

[0104] As described above, the optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanism, such as actuators and position sensing elements, is located in the horizontal direction (the direction of first axis XL) of the camera assembly, so that the vertical direction (the direction of second axis YL) of the camera assembly can be shortened.

[0105] For this reason, there is no optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanism such as actuators or position detection elements between adjacent camera assemblies, which increases the freedom of placement for other applications.

[0106] In particular, as shown in FIG. 5, it is possible to provide areas 201 202, 203 and 204, around the movable substrate 4 and the fixing plate 5 of the camera assembly 30, in which other driving mechanisms can be arranged.

[0107] Therefore, since the camera assembly 30 has the above configuration, the camera assembly 30 can achieve optimal layout for mounting multiple cameras having optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanism.

[0108] Here, an example of the operation of the camera assembly 30 having the configuration described above will be described.

[0109] FIG. 9 is a top view showing an example of a state in which the image sensor of the camera assembly shown in FIG. 8 is moved in the direction of the first axis. FIG. 10 is a top view showing an example of a state in which the image sensor of the camera assembly shown in FIG. 8 is moved in the direction of the second axis. FIG. 11 is a top view showing an example of a state in which the image sensor of the camera assembly shown in FIG. 8 is rolled around the optical axis.

[0110] As disclosed above, the camera assembly 30 has the optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanism.

[0111] In other words, the first actuator 71, the second actuator 72, and the third actuator 73 perform an optical image stabilization (OIS) control for the image sensor 6, together with the first position detection element 71b, the second position detection element 72b, and the third position detection element 73b.

[0112] For example, as shown in Fig. 9, the third actuator 73 applies a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the direction of the first axis XL, in order to move the movable substrate 4 relative to the fixed plate 5 (Image stabilization in the direction of the first axis XL) .

[0113] In the case shown in FIG. 9, the camera assembly 30 energizes the third coil 73a based on the direction value that moves the distance +XE3. This causes the third actuator 73 to generate driving force in the direction +DX. This driving force moves the image sensor 6 (the third position detection element 73b) to the distance +XE3 in Fig. 9.

[0114] It should be noted that when the polarity of the direction indication value is reversed, the polarity of the driving force generated by the third actuator 73 is reversed, and the moving direction is also reversed.

[0115] Especially, as shown in Fig. 9, a relative position of the image sensor 6 in the direction of the first axis XL with respect to the fixed plate 5 is obtained, based on the position detected by the third position detection element 73b.

[0116] Next, as shown in Fig. 10, the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the direction of the second axis YL, in order to move the movable substrate 4 relative to the fixed plate 5 (Image stabilization in the direction of the second axis YL) .

[0117] In the case shown in FIG. 10, the camera assembly 30 energizes the first coil 71a based on the direction value that moves the distance +YE1, and the camera assembly 30 energizes the second coil 72a based on the direction value that moves the distance +YE2. This causes the first actuator 71 to generate driving force  in the direction +YD and the second actuator 72 to generate driving force in the direction +YD. The driving forces move the image sensor 6 (the first and second position detection elements 71b and 72b) to the distance +YE1 and YE2 in Fig. 10.

[0118] It should be noted that when the polarity of the direction indication value is reversed, the polarity of the driving force generated by the first and second actuators 71 and 72 are reversed, and the moving direction is also reversed.

[0119] Next, as shown in Fig. 11, the first actuator 71 and the second actuator 72 apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4, so as to roll the movable substrate 4, on which the image sensor 6 is arranged, on the fixed plate about the optical axis ZL (Image stabilization in the roll direction centered on the optical axis ZL) .

[0120] In the case shown in FIG. 11, the camera assembly 30 energizes the first coil 71a based on the direction value that moves the distance +YE1. In addition, the camera assembly 30 energizes the second coil 72a based on the directional value to move the distance +YE2 times the ratio of the second distance Rb to the first distance Ra.

[0121] This causes the first actuator 71 to generate driving force in the direction +DY and the second actuator 72 to generate driving force in the direction -DY.

[0122] This causes the image sensor 6 (the first position detection element 71b) to roll around the optical axis ZL.

[0123] In this way, when the image sensor 6 rotates around the optical axis ZL, a relationship between a first instruction value that instructs the distance to drive the first actuator 71 and a second instruction value that instructs the distance to drive the second actuator is determined based on the ratio of the first distance Ra and the second distance Rb.

[0124] It should be noted that when the polarity of the direction indication value is reversed, the polarity of the driving force generated by the first and second actuators 71 and 72 are reversed, and the moving direction is also reversed.

[0125] As described above, a relative position of the image sensor 6 in the direction of the second axis YL with respect to the fixed plate 5 is obtained, or a relative position of the image sensor 6 rolled about the optical axis ZL with respect to the fixed plate 5 is obtained, based on the position detected by the first position detection element 71b and the position detected by the second position detection element 72b.

[0126] In more detail, as shown in Fig. 10, when a polarity of the position detected by the first position detection element 71b in the direction of the second axis YL and a polarity of the position detected by the second position detection element 72b in the direction of the second axis YL and are the same, the image sensor 6 is displaced in the direction of the second axis YL.

[0127] On the other hand, as shown in Fig. 11, when a polarity of the position detected by the first position detection element 71b in the direction of the second axis YL and a polarity of the position detected by the second position detection element 72b in the direction of the second axis YL are different, the image sensor 6 rolls around the optical axis ZL.

[0128] As described above, the center of the roll by the first and second actuators 71 and 72 overlaps the center of the optical axis ZL, and the third position detection element 73b is positioned on the first axis XL. Therefore, even if the image sensor 6 is rolled by the first and second actuators 71 and 72, the change in the position of the third position detection element 73b is very small and can be ignored.

[0129] It is noted that the image stabilization in the direction of the first axis XL shown in FIG. 9 and the image stabilization in the direction of the second axis YL shown in FIG. 10 may be combined and executed.

[0130] Similarly, the image stabilization in the direction of the first axis XL shown in FIG. 9 and the image stabilization in the roll direction about the optical axis ZL shown in FIG. 11 may be combined and executed.

[0131] Similarly, the image stabilization in the direction of the second axis YL shown in FIG. 10 and the image stabilization in the roll direction about the optical axis ZL shown in FIG. 11 may be combined and executed.
