Description

CAMERA ASSEMBLY AND ELECTRONIC DEVICETECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a camera assembly and an electronic device.BACKGROUND

[0002] Electronic devices such as smartphones and tablet terminals are widely used in our daily life. Nowadays, many of the electronic devices are equipped with a camera assembly for capturing images. Some of the electronic devices are portable and are thus easy to carry. Therefore, a user of the electronic device can easily take a picture of an object by using the camera assembly of the electronic device anytime, anywhere.

[0003] Conventionally, when a camera is mounted on an electronic device such as a smartphone, there is a device in which a plurality of actuators and position detection elements are arranged adjacent to one side of an image sensor. Therefore, there is a deviation between a rotation center of the plurality of rotation actuators and an optical axis center of the image sensor.

[0004] In addition, position detection by each position detection element also deviates. As a result, a loss occurs in the thrust force of the driving actuator.

[0005] In addition, there is a difference in the amount of deviation in each position detection, which becomes an error in the position detection. Therefore, it is necessary to correct the error.

[0006] Also, since the center of rotation is different from the center of the optical axis, the swing width of the image sensor is larger than when rotated about the center of the optical axis. Therefore, the electronic device is enlarged.SUMMARY

[0007] The present disclosure aims to solve at least one of the technical problems mentioned above. Accordingly, the present disclosure provides a camera assembly and an electronic device.

[0008] In accordance with the present disclosure, a camera assembly having an optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanism, includes:

[0009] a fixing plate fixed to a housing of the camera assembly;

[0010] a movable substrate disposed above the fixing plate and configured to be movable relative to the fixing plate in a direction perpendicular to an optical axis of a lens;

[0011] an image sensor arranged on the movable substrate, and configured to sense a light output from the lens;

[0012] a first actuator arranged at a position along a first axis orthogonal to the optical axis of the lens, and configured to apply a driving force to the movable substrate in the direction of a first axis perpendicular to the optical axis, in order to move the movable substrate on which the image sensor is arranged relative to the fixing plate;

[0013] a second actuator arranged at a position along a second axis perpendicular to the optical axis and the first axis, and configured to apply a driving force to the movable substrate in the direction of the second axis, in order to move the movable substrate relative to the fixing plate;

[0014] a third actuator arranged at a position along a third axis perpendicular to the optical axis, and configured to apply a driving force to the movable substrate in a direction perpendicular to the third axis, in order to move the movable substrate in a roll direction relative to the fixing plate;

[0015] a first position detection element arranged adjacent to the first actuator along the first axis and configured to detect a position in the direction of the first axis;

[0070] More specifically, as shown in FIG. 5 to FIG. 7, the third actuator 73 includes a third coil 73a and a third magnet 73c. The third coil 73a is arranged on the movable substrate 4. The third magnet 73c is a permanent magnet (for example, a two-pole magnetized magnet) arranged on the fixing plate 5 so as to face the third coil 73a, wherein the third coil 73a and the third magnet 73c constitute a motor (a magnetic conversion) .

[0071] Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 5 to FIG. 7, the first position detection element 71b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 so as to be adjacent to the first actuator 71 along the first axis XL, and the first position detection element 71b is configured to detect a relative position of the first position detection element 71b with respect to the fixing plate 5.

[0072] Especially, the first position detection element 71b detects the relative position of the first position detection element 71b with respect to the fixing plate 5 in the direction of the first axis XL.

[0073] For example, the first position detection element 71b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 so as to be positioned at the center of the first coil 71a. The first position detection element 71b is a first Hall element 71b configured to detect the magnetism of the first magnet 71c.

[0074] In this case, the first position detection element 71b detects the relative position with respect to the fixing plate 5 by detecting the magnetism of the first magnet 71c (magnetism of S pole and N pole) .

[0075] Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 5 to FIG. 7, the second position detection element 72b is arranged on  the movable substrate 4 so as to be adjacent to the second actuator 72 along the second axis YL, and is configured to detect a relative position of the second position detection element 72 with respect to the fixing plate 5.

[0076] Especially, the second position detection element 72b detects the relative position of the second position detection element 72b with respect to the fixing plate 5 in the direction of the second axis YL.

[0077] For example, the second position detection element 72b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 so as to be positioned at the center of the second coil 72a. The second position detection element 72b is a second Hall element 72b configured to detect the magnetism of the second magnet 72c.

[0078] In this case, the second position detection element 72b detects the relative position with respect to the fixing plate 5 by detecting the magnetism of the second magnet 72c (magnetism of S pole and N pole) .

[0079] It is noted that, as shown in FIG. 7, a first distance between the first position detection element 71b and the optical axis ZL is equal to a second distance between the second position detection element 72b and the optical axis ZL.

[0080] That is, the first position detection element 71b and the second position detection element 72b are positioned at a distance of radius RZ from the optical axis ZL.

[0081] Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 5 to FIG. 7, the third position detection element 73b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 so as to be adjacent to the third actuator 73 along the third axis RL, and the third position detection element 73b is configured to detect a relative position of the third position detection element 73b with respect to the fixing plate 5.

[0082] Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 5, the third axis RL is perpendicular to the optical axis ZL and positioned between the first axis XL and the second axis YL.

[0083] Especially, the third position detection element 73b detects the relative position of the third position detection element 73b with respect to the fixing plate 5 in the direction (the roll direction) perpendicular to the third axis RL.

[0084] For example, the third position detection element 73b is arranged on the movable substrate 4 so as to be positioned at the center of the third coil 73a. The third position detection element 73b is a third Hall element 73b configured to detect the magnetism of the third magnet 73c.

[0085] In this case, the third position detection element 73b detects the relative position with respect to the fixing plate 5 by detecting the magnetism of the third magnet 73c (magnetism of S pole and N pole) .

[0086] Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 7, the third axis RL is perpendicular to the optical axis ZL and positioned between the first axis XL and the second axis YL.

[0087] For example, a relative position of the image sensor 6 in the direction of the first axis XL with respect to the fixing plate 5 is obtained, based on the position detected by the first position detection element 71b.

[0088] For example, when the position detected by the first position detection element 71b is displaced in the direction of the first axis XL, the image sensor 6 moves in the direction of the first axis XL (the direction +DX or -DX in FIG. 7) .

[0089] Furthermore, a relative position of the image sensor 6 in the direction of the second axis YL with respect to the fixing plate 5 is obtained, based on the position detected by the second position detection element 72b.

[0090] For example, when the position detected by the second position detection element 72b is displaced in the direction of the second axis YL, the image sensor 6 moves in the direction of the second axis YL (the direction +DY or -DY in FIG. 7) .

[0091] Furthermore, a relative position of the image sensor 6, rolled about the optical axis ZL, in the direction (the roll direction) perpendicular to the third axis RL with respect to the fixing plate 5 is obtained, based on the position detected by the third position detection element 73b.

[0092] For example, when the position detected by the third position detection element 73b is displaced in the direction (the roll direction) , perpendicular to the third axis RL, the image sensor 6 rolls in the direction (the direction +DR or -DR in Fig. 7) , perpendicular to the third axis RL.

[0093] Here, FIG. 8A is a diagram showing an example of the relationship between the relative positions of the first position detection element and the magnet of the first actuator and the output of the first position detection element.

[0094] For example, as shown in FIG. 8A, the first position detection element 71b detects the magnetism of the first magnet 71c (Magnetism of S and N poles) and outputs a voltage corresponding to the distance from the polar boundary 80 between the S pole and the N pole of the first magnet 71c (converting magnetic flux density into voltage) .

[0095] For example, as shown in FIG. 8A, the first position detection element 71b outputs a positive voltage when the first position detection element 71b moves from the polar boundary 80 to a position on the N pole side. On the other hand, for example, as shown in FIG. 8A, the first position detecting element 71b outputs a negative voltage when the first position detection element 71b moves from the polar boundary 80 to a position  on the S pole side.

[0096] The voltage output by the first position detection element 71b changes according to the distance from the polar boundary 80 of the first magnet 71c. Based on this voltage value, the position of the first position detecting element 71b relative to the fixing plate 5 can be obtained.

[0097] It is noted that the detection of the second and third position detection elements 72b and 73b will also be described in the same way.

[0098] Next, FIG. 8B is a diagram showing an example of the relationship between the relative positions of the third position detection element and the magnet of the third actuator, and the correction of the position detection of the position detection element. FIG. 8C is a diagram showing another example of the relationship between the relative positions of the third position detection element and the magnet of the third actuator, and the correction of the position detection of the position detection element.

[0099] It is noted that FIG. 8B shows an example in which the angle θX between the first axis XL and the third axis RL is 45°. FIG. 8C shows an example where the angle θX between the first axis XL and the third axis RL is 30°.

[0100] For example, as shown in FIGS. 8B and 8C, the movement distance in the roll direction, when the third position detection element 73b is moved by the first actuator 71 in the direction of the first axis XL by the distance XE, is XE sin θX, where θX is the angle between the first axis XL and the third axis RL, which is the roll axis.

[0101] This movement distance XE sin θX is used as a correction value for position detection in the roll direction by the third position detection element 73b.

[0102] Then, when the image sensor is moved by the first actuator 71 in the direction of the first axis XL by the first movement distance, a position detection deviation of the third position detection element 73b in the direction (the direction +DR or -DR in Fig. 7) perpendicular to the third axis RL is corrected based on the first movement distance, by the camera assembly 30.

[0103] For example, as shown in FIGS. 8B and 8C, the movement distance in the roll direction, when the third position detection element 73b is moved by the second actuator 72 in the direction of the second axis YL by the distance YE, is YE sin θY, where θY is the angle between the second axis YL and the third axis RL, which is the roll axis.

[0104] This movement distance YE sin θY is used as a correction value for position detection in the roll direction by the third position detection element 73b.

[0105] Then, when the image sensor is moved by the second actuator 72 in the direction of the second axis YL by the second moving distance, a position detection deviation of the third position detection element 73b in the direction (the roll direction) perpendicular to the third axis RL is corrected based on the second movement distance, by the camera assembly 30.

[0106] Thus, the camera assembly 30 then performs a correction for position sensitive element misalignment in the ROLL direction caused by the shift, when shifting in the direction of the first axis XL and when shifting in the direction of the second axis YL.

[0107] That is, the camera assembly 30, having an optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanism, can correct position detection in the roll direction around the optical axis ZL, and reduce mutual interference with position detection and drive on three axes XL, YL, and RL.

[0108] Here, it is noted that an additional camera assembly (not shown) may be arranged adjacent to the camera assembly 30 having the configuration as described above in the second axial direction YL.

[0109] This case corresponds to, for example, the case in which the first camera assembly 30a and the second camera assembly 30b are arranged side by side in the long side direction of the electronic device 10 via a spacer, shown in FIG. 1.

[0110] In particular, as shown in FIG. 5, it is possible to provide areas 201 202, and 205, around the movable substrate 4 and the fixing plate 5 of the camera assembly 30, in which other driving mechanisms can be arranged.

[0111] Therefore, since the camera assembly 30 has the above configuration, the camera assembly 30 can achieve optimal layout for mounting multiple cameras having optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanism.

[0112] Here, an example of the operation of the camera assembly 30 having the configuration described above will be described.

[0113] FIG. 9 is a top view showing an example of a state in which the image sensor of the camera assembly shown in FIG. 7 is moved in the direction of the first axis. FIG. 10 is a top view showing an example of a state in which the image sensor of the camera assembly shown in FIG. 7 is moved in the direction of the second axis. FIG. 11 is a top view showing an example of a state in which the image sensor of the camera assembly shown in FIG. 7 is rolled around the optical axis.

[0114] As disclosed above, the camera assembly 30 has the optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanism.

[0115] That is, the first actuator 71, the second actuator 72, and the third actuator 73 perform an optical image stabilization (OIS) control for the image sensor 6, together with the first position detection element 71b, the second position detection element 72b, and the third position detection element 73b.

[0116] For example, as shown in Fig. 9, the first actuator 71 applies a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the direction of the first axis XL, in order to move the movable substrate 4 relative to the fixing plate 5 (Image stabilization in the direction of the first axis XL) .

[0117] In the case shown in FIG. 9, the camera assembly 30 energizes the first coil 71a based on the direction value that moves the distance +XE. This causes the first actuator 71 to generate driving force in the direction +DX. This driving force moves the image sensor 6 (the first position detection element 71b) to the distance +XE in Fig. 9.

[0118] It should be noted that when the polarity of the direction indication value is reversed, the polarity of the driving force generated by the first actuator 71 is reversed, and the moving direction is also reversed.

[0119] Especially, as shown in Fig. 9, a relative position of the image sensor 6 in the direction of the first axis XL with respect to the fixing plate 5 is obtained, based on the position detected by the first position detection element 71b.

[0120] As described above, the movement distance in the roll direction, when the third position detection element 73b is moved by the first actuator 71 in the direction of the first axis XL by the distance XE, is XE sin θX, where θX is the angle between the first axis XL and the third axis RL, which is the roll axis. This movement distance XE sin θX is used as a correction value for position detection in the roll direction by the third position detection element 73b.

[0121] It is noted that, as described above, when the image sensor is moved by the first actuator 71 in the direction of the first axis XL by the first movement distance, a position detection deviation of the third position detection element 73b in the direction (the direction +DR or -DR in Fig. 7) perpendicular to the third axis RL is corrected based on the first movement distance, by the camera assembly 30.

[0122] Next, as shown in Fig. 10, the second actuator 72 applies a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the direction of the second axis YL, in order to move the movable substrate 4 relative to the fixing plate 5 (Image stabilization in the direction of the second axis YL) .

[0123] In the case shown in FIG. 10, the camera assembly 30 energizes the second coil 72a based on the direction value that moves the distance +YE. This causes the second actuator 72 to generate driving force in the direction +YD. The driving forces move the image sensor 6 (the second position detection element 72b) to the distance +YE in Fig. 10.

[0124] It should be noted that when the polarity of the direction indication value is reversed, the polarity of the driving force generated by the second actuator 72 is reversed, and the moving direction is also reversed.

[0125] Next, as shown in Fig. 11, the third actuator 73 applies a driving force to the movable substrate 4, so as to roll the movable substrate 4, on which the image sensor 6 is arranged, on the fixing plate 5 about the optical axis ZL (Image stabilization in the roll direction centered on the optical axis ZL) .

[0126] In the case shown in FIG. 11, the camera assembly 30 energizes the third coil 73a based on the direction value that moves the distance +RE. This causes the third actuator 73 to generate driving force in the direction +DR. This causes the image sensor 6 (the third position detection element 73b) to roll around the optical axis ZL.

[0127] It should be noted that when the polarity of the direction indication value is reversed, the polarity of the driving force generated by the third actuator 73 reversed, and the moving direction is also reversed.

[0128] As described above, a relative position of the image sensor 6 rolled about the optical axis ZL with respect to the fixing plate 5 is obtained, based on the position detected by the third position detection element 73b.

[0129] As described above, the first position detection element 71b and the second position detection element 72b are located at the same distance RZ from the optical axis ZL. Therefore, one third actuator 73 (third coil 73a) can roll the image sensor 6 at the center of the optical axis ZL.

[0130] Furthermore, the center of the rolling is located on the center of the optical axis ZL, and the second position detection element 72b is located on the second axis YL. Therefore, even if the image sensor 6 is rolled, the change in the position of the second position detection element 72b is minimal.

[0131] Similarly, the center of the rolling is located on the center of the optical axis ZL, and the first position detection element 71b is located on the first axis XL. Therefore, even if the image sensor 6 is rolled, the change in the position of the first position detection element 71b is minimal.

[0132] It is noted that the image stabilization in the direction of the first axis XL shown in FIG. 9 and the image stabilization in the direction of the second axis YL shown in FIG. 10 may be combined and executed.

[0133] Similarly, the image stabilization in the direction of the first axis XL shown in FIG. 9 and the image stabilization in the roll direction about the optical axis ZL shown in FIG. 11 may be combined and executed.

[0134] Similarly, the image stabilization in the direction of the second axis YL shown in FIG. 10 and the  image stabilization in the roll direction about the optical axis ZL shown in FIG. 11 may be combined and executed.

[0135] Similarly, the image stabilization in the direction of the first axis XL shown in FIG. 9, the image stabilization in the direction of the second axis YL shown in FIG. 10, and the image stabilization in the roll direction about the optical axis ZL shown in FIG. 11 may be combined and executed.

[0136] As mentioned above, the camera assembly 30 of the electronic device 10 according to the present embodiment comprises: a fixing plate 5 fixed to a housing of the camera assembly 30; a movable substrate 4 disposed above the fixing plate 5 and configured to be movable relative to the fixing plate 5 in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis ZL of a lens 1a; an image sensor 6 arranged on the movable substrate 4, and configured to sense a light output from the lens 1a; a first actuator 71 arranged at a position along a first axis XL orthogonal to the optical axis ZL of the lens 1a, and configured to apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the direction of a first axis XL perpendicular to the optical axis ZL, in order to move the movable substrate 4 on which the image sensor 6 is arranged relative to the fixing plate 5; a second actuator 72 arranged at a position along a second axis YL perpendicular to the optical axis ZL and the first axis XL, and configured to apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in the direction of the second axis YL, in order to move the movable substrate 4 relative to the fixing plate 5; a third actuator 73 arranged at a position along a third axis RL perpendicular to the optical axis ZL, and configured to apply a driving force to the movable substrate 4 in a direction (a roll direction) perpendicular to the third axis RL, in order to move the movable substrate 4 in a roll direction relative to the fixing plate 5; a first position detection element 71b arranged adjacent to the first actuator 71 along the first axis XL and configured to detect a position in the direction of the first axis XL; a second position detection element 72b arranged adjacent to the second actuator 72 along the second axis YL and configured to detect a position in the direction of the second axis YL; and a third position detection element 73b arranged adjacent to the third actuator 73 along the third axis RL and configured to detect a position in the direction (the roll direction) perpendicular to the third axis RL.

[0137] Furthermore, when the image sensor 6 is moved by the first actuator 71 in the direction of the first axis XL by the first movement distance, a position detection deviation of the third position detection element in the direction (the roll direction) perpendicular to the third axis RL is corrected based on the first movement distance, and, when the image sensor 6 is moved by the second actuator 72 in the direction of the second axis YL by the second moving distance, a position detection deviation of the third position detection element in the direction (the roll direction) perpendicular to the third axis RL is corrected based on the second movement distance.

[0138] Thus, the camera assembly 30 then performs a correction for position sensitive element misalignment in the roll direction caused by the shift, when shifting in the direction of the first axis XL and when shifting in the direction of the second axis YL.

[0139] That is, the camera assembly 30, having an optical image stabilization (OIS) mechanism, can correct position detection in the roll direction around the optical axis ZL, and reduce mutual interference with position detection and drive on three axes XL, YL, and RL.
