Description

mirror assembly

[0001] The present invention relates to a mirror assembly installed in a vehicle or the like.

[0002] An example of a mirror assembly may include a room mirror and a room mirror support that can be secured to the glass or roof panel of a vehicle, and the angle of the room mirror can be adjusted.

[0003] An example of an adjustable angle rearview mirror is a rearview assembly disclosed in U.S. Patent Publication No. US 10,800,335 B2 (published October 13, 2020) which includes a display mirror assembly and an actuator assembly including a toggle switch operably connected to the display mirror assembly to tilt the glass element.

[0004] The present embodiment provides a mirror assembly that can tilt a mirror to a tilting angle by pressing a button and easily return the mirror to a reference angle by pressing a reset button.

[0005] A mirror assembly according to the present embodiment may include a housing; a support bracket rotatably disposed in the housing and coupled to the mirror; and a tilting module mounted on the support bracket and configured to tilt or de-tilt the support bracket relative to the housing.

[0006] The tilting module may include a slider slidably mounted on a support bracket; a main spring disposed between the housing and the slider; a button cover mounted on the support bracket; a cover body coupled with the button cover; a button disposed movably between the button cover and the cover body and supporting the slider; a stopper formed with a stopper projection that engages the button and rotatably disposed between the button cover and the cover body; and a reset button disposed on the cover body to move the stopper forward and backward.

[0007] A sliding projection may be formed on the slider, and a rail along which the sliding projection is guided may be formed on the housing.

[0008] The rail may include a pair of spaced straight sections; and a sloped section connecting the pair of straight sections.

[0009] The rail can be tilted relative to the housing, with the imaginary line connecting the start and end points.

[0010] The tilting module may include a stopper spring disposed between at least one of the button cover and the cover body and the stopper to bias the stopper in the rotational direction of the stopper; and a reset spring disposed between the button cover and the stopper to bias the stopper in the forward and backward direction.

[0011] The stopper spring can engage the stopper at a locking angle where the button is engaged with the stopper lug.

[0012] The locking angle can be a clockwise or counterclockwise angle at which the button is engaged with the stopper lug.

[0013] The reset spring can energize the stopper into a locking position where the button is engaged with the stopper lug.

[0014] The locking position can be any forward or backward position where the button is engaged by the stopper projection.

[0015] The support bracket may include a main bracket having a hinge axis receiving portion formed therein for receiving a hinge axis formed in the housing; and a cover bracket fastened to the main bracket.

[0016] At least one of the button cover and the cover body may be formed with a support shaft that rotatably and movably supports the stopper.

[0017] The button may be formed with an escape hole to escape the stopper and stopper spring.

[0018] The button may be formed with a button protrusion that is restrained in the vertical direction by the stopper protrusion.

[0019] The tilting module may further include a damping spring positioned between the support bracket and the housing.

[0020] According to this embodiment, when the driver presses the button, the mirror can be tilted to a tilt angle, and when the driver presses the reset button, the mirror can be returned to a reference angle, so that the driver can adjust the angle of the mirror more smoothly.

[0021] Additionally, when the driver presses the reset button, the button is lowered by the restoring force of the main spring, so the button can be lowered smoothly and is highly reliable.

[0022] Additionally, since the stopper is supported by the stopper spring, the stopper can smoothly return to the locking angle, minimizing malfunction.

[0023] Additionally, since the stopper is held by the reset spring, the stopper can be smoothly returned to the locking position, minimizing malfunction.

[0024] Additionally, the support bracket is easy to assemble with the housing, including the cover bracket that is attached to the main bracket and the main bracket.

[0025] Additionally, the stopper can be rotated or moved forward and backward along the support axis, allowing the button to be easily locked or unlocked.

[0026] Additionally, a stopper and a stopper spring can be accommodated in the avoidance hole formed in the button, so that the mirror assembly can be made as compact as possible.

[0027] Additionally, the support bracket can rotate safely without being rotated abruptly by the damping spring.

[0192] When the button protrusion (102) of the button (10) is raised to a predetermined height, the stopper (11) can be rotated back to the locking angle (LA) as shown in Fig. 12 by the restoring force of the stopper spring (14), and the stopper protrusion (111) of the stopper (11) can lock the button (10) so that the raised button (10) is not lowered arbitrarily as shown in Fig. 12.

[0193] Fig. 13 is a cross-sectional view showing the inside of the button cover when the button according to the present embodiment is raised, and Fig. 14 is a cross-sectional view showing the inside of the button cover when the reset button according to the present embodiment is pressed.

[0194] The stopper (11) can be retracted along the support shaft (82) to the locking position (LP) or advanced to the unlocking position (ULP).

[0195] The locking position (LP) may be a position in the forward and backward direction where the button (10) is restrained in the up-down direction (Z) by the stopper projection (111).

[0196] The unlocking position (ULP) may be a position in the forward-backward direction where the button (10) is not restrained in the up-down direction (Z) by the stopper projection (111).

[0197] The unlocked position (ULP) can be positioned further forward than the locked position (LP).

[0198] The reset spring (15) can hold the stopper (11) in a locking position (LP) where the button (10) is restrained by the stopper projection (111) of the stopper (11).

[0199] The stopper (11) can be moved backward by being pushed by the reset spring (15) and can be moved to the locking position (LP).

[0200] When the driver presses the reset button (11) forward as shown in Fig. 14, the stopper (11) can be moved forward to the unlocked position (ULP) without restraining the button (10) in the up-and-down direction.

[0201] If the stopper (11) does not restrain the button (10), the button (10) can be lowered downward by the restoring force of the main spring (7).

[0202] When the driver removes the external force applied to the reset button (12), the reset spring (15) moves the stopper (11) backward by the restoring force as shown in Fig. 13, and the stopper (11) can move the reset button (13) backward.
